  1. Nothing from i13 has been significantly revisited even though most of it doesn't work.

Merits still lead to hoarding to 50 and killed non-50 supply, largely because they inexplicably can be set to a specific level for overbuys but not randoms. There's still no formula to buff the merit counts of hard but fast TFs. Setting levels would probably be a rather simple fix.

Day Jobs are still nearly irrelevent, even though they could be quite relevant if they were converted to tickets like tailor discounts were or use counts like the teleporter was, rather than autos that work as passive powers. This would also probably be a rather simple fix.

Level pacts only work up to 5 and are awkward and easily broken.

PVP... let's not even get into that.

Base upgrades rolled back and replaced with simply eliminating base raids.

This was the first issue that had hints of GR implementation - Daedalus and Airlia, plus faction specified story arcs. I get the idea that there is too much pressure to get GR done for more quality control and revisiting of such things.

Don't even get me started on the worst pool of them all: Fitness. Talk about power taxation, not a single one of the Fitness powers is "fun" they are all basically just passive stat bonuses. The only reason anybody takes them is to get Stamina, a pool power that is basically required for most builds in order to have fun and not be hitting Rest every time it refreshes. This is a textbook example of how NOT to design modular character abilities: make a boring, passive ability that almost every character will feel they need, then make it require prerequisites that most people wouldn't want, otherwise.

I think the pools really should have been grouped by their mechanical effects, which would help inform new players as to which powers they should look at when building a character. That's basically what they were going for when they built the ATs, so why do the pools seem like they were grouped using post-it notes and a dartboard?
    This.

I'm not going to get into the OP's suggestion, but the whole nature of power pools needs to be fixed. They're indisputably the most imbalanced powers in the game, some of them strong and some weak, and the unloking process could be better.
  3. I've very often been in an arc and dropped it because of:

Impossible to find objective (the map icon for these doesn't work in AE reliably)
    Various bugs
Specific custom groups that are too hard for my difficulty settings (and not wanting to change them, often at distant NPCs, just for that)
Just wanting to do something else fast

While some of you might say to just rate the arc down and quit, that's a bad idea. Often it is not due to the author's skill, and it's very annoying to be doing an arc and then be forced to either quit or wade through a specific task. It would work just like the regular auto complete.

Which idea? This board is full of suggestion trolls, which is why sometimes I just don't even respond to particularly bad ideas rather than posting.

This idea would lead to even greater concentration of populations to Freedom and Virtue.
  5. The reason this is a bigger deal than other buffs is that the option existed for these, so people are used to being able to do it.

Just make it a global option to ignore mystic fortune, which is even better than the previous popup.

If the bug is hard to isolate and correct, that's one thing. If they are throwing out some players bug reports until someone they like reports it, that is something altogether different and highly inappropriate.

I don't know which of the two is more accurate or perhaps there is a third reason, but I would hope that option two is far from the truth.
Other explanation: The bug report system sucks as demonstrated by a dev never even hearing of a commonly reported bug last year. The petitions go to some other department to be verified, possibly by people who work on every NC game. A mod read this and found it.
  7. You know I just thought of this after hearing more 'that game is nothing but warehouse battles.' At least make it more novel.

Add another type of warehouse indoor set and apply it to half of the warehouse maps currently used. Then try to avoid having any more warehouses in new content.

Yes, you do it with the power hide. None of the others.

Most of the sets have non-obvious sources of hide. Even dark and ninjitsu don't specify what you do to hide. If you RP it with explanations, you're doing exactly the same thing you would do with ANY armor set. Shields are no less appropriate than most of the other sets, but the shield POWERS are inappropriate to stalkers.

Every stalker armor is about how you defend after being seen.
  9. You, know, I just thought of something.

Arcanaville mentioned that block adds a nice balance quirk to CO, in that it provides a mechanism for non binary challenge, I.E. instead of asking if you can win, ask how much you have to block to win.

This would help in a sort of similar way at low levels: how much do I have to rest? It would also do much to make sets more balanced at low levels and make stamina less perceived as a requirement.

As for the idea to make it an out of combat boost while walking, I'm entirely for it. This is one of the things CO does better. You get automatic super fast regen out of combat, because delays between fights are just stupid.
  10. I don't understand what you're saying. Do you want more powers in each powerset?

I took that as an obvious joke. The real reason may be that clowns are much lower priority than like 10 other possible sets.
  12. 1.

Please, please, could you try to improve the game's foliage?

What I'm talking about is how 90% of non-pine trees appear dead. If you enter nearly any zone you will find almost every tree is brown, other than pines.

This is actually the #1 thing that would improve the game graphically. Go to someplace where this isn't the case, like Indigo's place in FF, and it's dramatically better.

In general, it's best if the majority of trees are green, with some bright reds or other attractive ones occasionally. The brown brigade should be relegated to places where it's necessary to the setting.

    2.

Urban renewal in the Rogue Isles, and more variety.

Some places that should look much better than they do:

Aeon City & Haven: If this is supposed to suggest a wrong side of the tracks, it doesn't, because everything still looks ugly. Why not make Haven a sci-fi tech city rather than a collection of generic buildings? If that's too much, at least add some buildings that look as good as Paragon's. Make the foliage suitable for a place that is supposed to be a propaganda showcase, etc. Beautify the area of the university & BM especially. This is supposed to be one of the ritzier of places and is a player hangout.

Nerva: Longbow's area looks just like the isles, but with statues. Hold that thought. It is kind of hilarious as insight into their priorities (propaganda) for the crowd that says Longbow is evil, so never mind. But Crey's neighborhood could be more of a showcase, since the NPCs are doing heavy PR there. Both theirs and the neighborhood buildings.

St. Martial: As a higher level area, and supposedly a tourist destination, this is another that would be a high priority, along with Aeon City. Foliage would do the most, but another improvement might be better buildings. The Giza's surrounding fountains, and the place with the AE which is the neighborhood in front of it, should be especially attractive. If I may suggest more than just art, try taking the far too common Arachnos and their fort out of the zone.

In those places that stay black, try to add more contrast to the Rogue Isles textures so they don't look so black. It can be hard to even see where you're going at night.

But he implied that the issue was inflation, rather than PVP IOs being 10 times as expensive as most other premium items, including Miracle and LOTG.
  14. The point is that every stalker set has a power called hide and it's up to you to explain what methods you use, which might be unrelated to the set's other powers. Any armor can work with that.

So you're opposed to every Stalker armor other than Dark and Ninjitsu?
  16. Power pool customization could easily put CO's travel power choices to shame.

Over there, you get a bunch of flight effects branded as multiple powers, but illogically, each of them has different properties to make it less obvious. This, of course, leads a ton of the options to have things like bad control as a differentiation attempt., so none of them are as useful as just straight flight here is.

Try posting it here. I'm not a mod here, but that is just a suggestion.

There are a ton of prices going down, not just PVP IOs, and especially purples. It's probably due to recent fast exploit fixes.

No, what I'm saying is that the hero/villain ratio will get even higher, to the point that it is no longer possible to find even villain pops in PVP zones and there will not be even as much recipe supply as there is now.
  20. What you should take is not that heroes got a revamp while villains didn't. It's that as content in general gets better, the more playable isles become less of a draw, and the only things that make it unique are its lackeyism and zones that are nearly indistinguishable from a monitor being off.

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=219896

With GR there will be no gameplay advantage to villains and population with drop further, other than loads of vigilantes coming over.

    That's generally the idea.

The main point is badges and souvenirs.

    Debatable would be:

    Recipe storage size
Accolades (you keep them while exemping, so why not?)

But that leads to the "well it might make people reroll instead of alt" so I'm not going to argue that. They are ancillary to the point.

Debatable but I do say they should be included:

    Merits

Supply of them has to be higher as it is, and forcing people to roll them ahead of doing this would be pointless.

    Day Jobs

Technically accolades, but they are among the most grindy badges and have next to no use to a rerolled main anyway. That, and anybody can get them at 1.

Counterpoint: But some of them can be handy for 2 hours!

Countercounterpoint: In order to get charges you have to log out, which is exactly what you would do with a reroll. There's no scenario in which this would make you significantly more powerful than a new level 1 unless you logged in and systematically went to multiple locations for a very, very long time, and if you did that with a new level 1 they'd get tons of them anyway. Even then, you would get at most 2 hours of slightly better buff, and for what? To... level maybe 5% faster in just 2 hours? Nobody would have any reason to do that.

    Inf

Mostly because there is no reason to include or not include it, since you can just email it to yourself either way. Inf is irrelevant, so go with the more enjoyable option.

    Temp Powers

I consider these collectables like badges and souvenirs. Anybody who wants to PL has far more powerful options than temp powers, and keep in mind this is a high level who has earned these temps and would be much better off using them at their level.

But since this would lead to controversy, a possible compromise might be specific powers, like how there are a few temps nerfed the second time you get them.
  23. I expected this to be a request for the portal animation as an emote.
  24. I'd like this, but inderstand that it's totally implausible with the way animations are set up.

Building CoH2 from the start to handle arbitrarily vast skeleton choices would be cool though.

Don't they keep saying they don't want to reward practices that ruin the fun?

I'm all for this idea, even if I'm never going to use it for the simple fact that I don't do badges.
It's how the suggestions and ideas topics generally go. Some people just get a buzz from flaming, and the community in general is insular and hostile to different points of view, as demonstrated by, say, the reaction a person who imports team concepts or nomenclature from other games may get.

Remember that there was an effort to adjust badges like empath and remove the farm incentives from AE badges? A reasonable developer realizes that incentivizing behavior like that is a bad idea in the long run.

Consider that not even a single negative response has related to the idea on its merits, only tons of claims that the devs love grinds, without support. The absurdity of the argument is that this would save far less time than, say, travel powers, and I don't see anybody clamoring to get rid of those.

Snow Globe did bring up potential technical difficulties, which is plausible. There may very well be technical reasons why having certain badges at certain levels might not work.

That, if anything, would support the idea.

Solution A: They AFK farm with arena gladiators

Intelligent and creative people like to find novel solutions. As a developer, I take a topic that gets lots of requests, but has an obstacle, as a challenge to find a solution. It's a necessary skill to programmers, scientists, and most who have discovered things throughout history, every one of whom was 'one of those people.'

That's actually why I bring it up, more so than wanting to use it. My primary motivation to use it would be addressed by global event badges, though it's possible another set could be introduced that might make me want to reroll mains.

Or I'm recognizing a point that serves as a distraction and reponding to it with no argument. Accolades are not what this is about. The idea doesn't require that accolades or inf be included with the reroll.

In essence, this is mostly about cosmetic features. Any potential exploits would not be part of it.
