Travel Particle Effects

Hi:

I play a Storm/Dark Defender and would like to have the ability of having electical arcs flowing about me only when I am in flight or hover as opposed to all the time if done through the ICON's tailor.

There is in a way a precedent of sorts, look at the prestige sprints. So this suggestion is kinda like an enhancement to the prestige effects applied for the other travel powers such as flight, supper speed, teleport, jump etc.

In the case of the effects, perhaps the effects for the powers could be set kinda like it is done for the costume emotes.

Can't this be done with some macros? Basically, switch to an identical costume while in flight, but that has the electrical, or whatever aura on it?

Yes. I do this on one of my Dominators to change my cape into a pair of wings when I fly. However, it won't work for everyone - namely, the people out there who have at least three different costumes, as there aren't enough costume slots to make "flying versions" of more than two.

My proposal: First, devs, make all auras that unlock with the level 30 mission available also as combat auras. While a bit of a kludgy solution for the "travel aura" idea, a combat aura could be made to activate while flying/speeding/leaping by setting brawl on autofire while you're in flight (or whatever). I think. I'm going to test this now, jsut to be sure.

Power pool customization could easily put CO's travel power choices to shame.

Over there, you get a bunch of flight effects branded as multiple powers, but illogically, each of them has different properties to make it less obvious. This, of course, leads a ton of the options to have things like bad control as a differentiation attempt., so none of them are as useful as just straight flight here is.
