It leads me to two possible conclusions: 1. They've either forgotten an invite to me, or 2. They've lied about the loyalty system
They've said "q1 2010" for some time now. Given that today is the START of "q1 2010", I don't quite see how you've got any particular leg to stand on.

Keep in mind, once the information about the loyalty program has been received, they've got to compile that information. Also keep in mind, GR info was leaked pretty far back, and there's *always* a giant storm about beta, and people wanted to know how it would work. Answering that information earlier is not a bad business decision, except that there are always people like who who jump the gun and demand more.

Furthermore, just because Beta isn't ready RITE NAO doesn't mean they lied in the least about the loyalty program. You're going to get in, when it's appropriate. Nothing about the loyalty program stated OR implied when the beta was going to start - just that those tiers would be added in order after the start of it.

In other words, chill. You have until March 31st to ... yelp.
  2. Pretty much everyone here agrees with you, and we've been suggesting these things for years.

A new reminder to the Devs doesn't hurt, though.
  3. For me, it's holding down the right mouse button and moving the POV around that way. If you've rebound your keys, look at your options to what you have "mouse look" set to.

The person who played Statesman was Jack Emmert (more or less the head of Cryptic). He was active, for better or worse, back when the game was still half-owned and mostly maintained by Cryptic. When NCSoft bought the full rights to the game, they snagged all the devs that were working on it at the time (our current main devs), and Jack stayed with his company. Statesman got retired as a "redname," although he remains in the game.

If you want a background on Statesman the character... well, most of that's in the books and comics.
  5. I would like to very much thank Ironblade for putting up with missed times, missed tells, and altogether a weird connection - only to get into the supergroup and discover we had somehow managed to randomly pick up the second badge.

Then he explained the setup for a friend of mine, so she'll be able to set that up herself.

As far as anyone can tell, it's not a deliberate cap. It seems to be more a bug in the database such that the base server can't handle bases with item lists longer than 20k - inclusive of the items in your storage units.

We'll get better sizes when we get a better base editor.

Also, for those that don't celebrate any of the above, I hope you have a really fantastic winter.

    Unfortunately, no.

The problem with the PD and Grandville beacons is that, for some reason, the "available" beacon art (which IS in the files, btw) is not being displayed. Instead, it's the "destroyed in raid" artwork that's acting as the default.

Until the devs get around to simply fixing this small issue, nothing we can do will fix those beacons.

It *should* be for any base. We'll test later this weekend.

  13. So, I apologize for the delay in getting these back up.

    However, they're all available now.

    http://unbidden.fantasyalternative.org is the address.

If they're no longer on the front page when you get there, go to the downloads directory.

And yes, I know my website needs to be finished. I'm working on it.

Prior to this happening, the salvage racks could hold up to 2500 items, when the change went through the salvage racks were converted to hold invention salvage, but the amount per rack was lowered to 30 items. However, if you had a salvage rack with base salvage in it up to the old cap, it is still there until you empty it out, though you cannot add any salvage until it gets below the new 30 item cap.

This is a very good summary.

However, what does it say about this game that the explanations are quite that complicated?

Actually, the Scoop has its very own website. It's just... currently, it doesn't look like the Scoop.

Life has kind of reached up and bitten everybody involved. We're hoping to have it back in the new year.

    SG Badges?

SG badges are for the entire SG and don't count towards your "official" badge total. They remain with the SG no matter what.

Technically, because your SG has already gotten the badges, so have you.

    Triumph Bases

I'll be on tomorrow evening (Cende) after about 7 pm Pacific. I can be on pretty much as late as needed. If you haven't gotten someone to help by then, I'll be happy to take the pictures for you.

    Just wondering

A friend of mine put CoH on a thumbdrive, and regularly updated it, so all her preferences were there (actually, she had the entire OS on her drive, and just ran whatever computer she was on from the drive, but that's a different issue).

It's a little slower than running it off the main harddrive, but if the computer's crap anyway (this one was, it was my guest computer), it's not really that noticeable.

I don't know how ipods connect to the computer, but if they're effectively glorified thumbdrives, it should work - as long as you have the space.
  20. 124 - 128 minutes.

Every time I'm in the editor, it crashes just after 2 hours. I don't get lag at all until just before the crash; then I have a couple of molasses moments, followed by total non-response and a crash to desktop. Restarting the game gets me a check, but it's fine after that. I'll keep everything I did from just before the molasses moments (maybe 2 to 6 minutes of editing), which has actually saved my butt once (I accidentally deleted something I didn't want to delete - crashing means it was still there when I came back).

When I have a lot of editing to do, I try and remember to set my timer to shut down and restart every 120 minutes.
  21. It depends on how much storage you have, in part. We've found, in the past, that much more than 14,000 items pretty much totally kills the base (and said 12,000 for safety) - and that if you have a lot of storage, that number drops. Not much storage, you can have higher numbers. That 20k hard cap seems to include storage overhead.

They do, they're just currently unavailable until I get them onto the new website.

    I'll remind Talek this evening.

    Can't Move Rooms

There's two things that seem to randomly keep rooms from moving:

    1. Stacked items. If anything in the room is stacked, the room won't move. This can include such piddly little things as jars on a table.

    2. Veteran rewards. If you have any of the vet rewards in the room (especially posters on the wall), the room won't move.

Sometimes, also, if there's something ON the walls, the room won't move, because the editor is trying to put a door in a braindead location.

The first step is the most basic- if you have anything on the walls, move it up to the very, very top (raise the ceiling) or move it out of the room entirely.

Second step is to look for anything stacked, and move that to the floor. If you have a massive stacking project in there.. it's easier to move the other room.

Third step is to create a new version of the room where you were going to place this one, and just move everything by hand, 'cause you got stuck with one of the random crap bugs that occasionally pop up and there's nothing to be done about.
  24. Nobody does contests - I mean, what would you give as rewards, really? - but base tours happen. Some folks are trying to get it to be more regular (I was one of them, but my life reached way up and bit me on the... tail).

She got useful, good stuff at the con for the story - and one case of a nasty respiratory infection.

She is also, unfortunately, still not employed, and that's stressing her a bit (as it does everyone who wants and needs to work).

I'm pretty sure she'd appreciate any good thoughts you'd like to send her way.
