Just wondering

I was just wondering if you could put CoH on your Ipod (cause its like a portable hard drive) and play CoH through a computer that doesnt have it downloaded. I don't see why it wouldnt work, but then again by no means am I really savy with computers, so I was just wondering if there was something that would keep me from doing this. Because with two study halls at school and a broken laptop, I really need an alternative method of getting to play coh on school computers.

The original thread I got this from is long gone, but are you looking for something like this?

Sure today is the first day of the rest of your life. But so was yesterday. And look how that turned out.

well I was wondering about just a plain old ipod and not an iphone or one of those new ipod touches.

Ah, well in that case I have no idea.

I say go for it.

I'm 87% sure it will work.

A friend of mine put CoH on a thumbdrive, and regularly updated it, so all her preferences were there (actually, she had the entire OS on her drive, and just ran whatever computer she was on from the drive, but that's a different issue).

It's a little slower than running it off the main harddrive, but if the computer's crap anyway (this one was, it was my guest computer), it's not really that noticeable.

I don't know how ipods connect to the computer, but if they're effectively glorified thumbdrives, it should work - as long as you have the space.

Glorified hardrive, yes. However, apple products, from my experience, don't like to play well with others unless you strip them do a bare HD... Short story, they kick during nap time.

ok wish me luck, I'm going to start down loading the client now. Karl's estimate of 87% chance of working made me feel better. . . .

I thought that was you kicking me, but now Apple . Well time to brandish an Apple computer with a hammer.

So I can't get on CoH tonight cause I down loaded CoH to my Ipod and now the updater is going to be going all night; and for some reason I'm not allowed to open two updaters even if they are from two different saved areas .

Ah, but you could have started the game where you have it installed already and then started the updater for the thumb drive.

Just would have caused you a little lag.

Just for kicks, how many Apple products do you personally own that you try to interface with other products?

I've been through 2 iPods before I switched to a Zune. They're not particularly friendly to play with

Actually, that's a very important difference, because the game is installed on that OS instance.

I doubt it will work unless the application is installed to an OS instance, even if the client resides on the ipod. You'll need to have CoH installed to the OS even if you run it from the iPod.

I'm not on the iEverything bandwagon, but you should be made fun of for the above sentence.
