Safe to go over 12k items?

Heya all,

Was wondering, is it safe to go over 12k items in a base now? I Know they did some work with the disappearing bases and set a hard cap on the plots of 20k, but anyone know if that is a safe number?

My base has a lot of detail in it and I am approaching the 12k mark with still a room and a half to finish. I would hate to have it poof on me and have to be reset back and waste a bunch of work to get back under the safe threshhold.

It depends on how much storage you have, in part. We've found, in the past, that much more than 14,000 items pretty much totally kills the base (and said 12,000 for safety) - and that if you have a lot of storage, that number drops. Not much storage, you can have higher numbers. That 20k hard cap seems to include storage overhead.

Oh full current, not full "base salvage", thankfully.

The Salvage Storage Rack item in bases used to hold "base salvage" which was used to craft base items such as teleporters and certain defense items, power/control items, etc. A few issues back base salvage was removed from use(and loot drops) and invention salvage became used for base items as well as enhancements. Prior to this happening, the salvage racks could hold up to 2500 items, when the change went through the salvage racks were converted to hold invention salvage, but the amount per rack was lowered to 30 items. However, if you had a salvage rack with base salvage in it up to the old cap, it is still there until you empty it out, though you cannot add any salvage until it gets below the new 30 item cap.

This is a very good summary.

However, what does it say about this game that the explanations are quite that complicated?

Why was the salvage storage set so low (30) and it stacks? Where enhancements and insperations don't stack and they are 100. The salvage was 30 stacks, I could see, but a 30 it will not even hold all my Backstreet Brawler Gloves in a single case, I could not store all my candy cane in all my cases and I don't even have enough for a respec (500) yet.

The number was reduced when Base Salvage was eliminated from drops and made unnecessary. The racks were changed to let them hold Invention Salvage and the devs don't want people hoarding it.

So carry them on your character. You can carry 9999 candy canes. Why do you need to store them?

I can buy that, but seems odd that they would want people hording enhancements.

I have severe Altitis, so I am constantly changing characters, playing one for a couple days, then switching to other. I was looking for a easier way to get them from one character to another. The character, that I want a respect, is not very good at getting canes, passing them to them using the base was a failure.

An event salvage only container would be nice, just for ones that need large numbers of collectables. But in the grand scheme of things, its real low priority.

Thanks for the info though.
