WB Shorty...
I'd recommend swinging by Paragonwiki, specifically the issues page
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Issues
to get up to speed
I17 is just round the corner, with a major graphics revamp, and going Rogue in the early Summer is a paid boxed expansion.
Most of the last few issues have been more abouts systems than content, but as the stuck War Witch (she lost at Rock Paper Scissors I guess) with the Lead Dev title, that is going to change fast.
God time to get your bearings before the big things happen in the not too distant future. -
Quote:In almost every case, when I make a new character, my first interactiosn with the market are sales. Depending upon the individual character, that remains the exlcusive commitment until at least level 12, and the majority of their interactiosn until at least 22.Yes, market prices are too high. People confronting them for the first time as a would be buyer are going to be dismayed, and this reaction should be expected and ought not to surprise anybody.
Almost every character I have has made more sales than purchases at the market. Usually by a wide margin. The exceptions being my field crafters who buy 2-3 salvage and then sell the single crafted common IO.
Sellers generally like the higher prices. -
I would like the effect, but I fear it would take too much time for a small return.

Quote:Happens a lot round here.Holy cow, this flame thread has devolved into a reasonable discussion!
Given my own scant background in economics, I find the moral economy stuff really interesting. Amazing what can happen when the people on both sides of the argument actually have some idea of what they're talking about.
The Ebil geniuses social club can't stay ontopic for more than a dozen posts. -
Quote:I'll happily call you illiterate. No, i call u immature for all teh name calling. Just as the market forum calls people "lazy" that disagree with them and talk negatively to anyone that disagrees with how the market works. Talk about hypocrits. If i really said what you were. id get banned from the forums.
Go ahead and speak your mind, you wouldn't be missed. -

In the case of a refinery fire, the cost to produce almost certainly has gone up.
Even if the others take up the slack, the efficiency of the processes (in gallons of gas per barrel of oil) will usually take a hit. Those places normally operate at their sweet spot in the process.
To say nothing of the cost of rebuilding a refinery...
(repairs and upgrades are part of normal capital expenditure at such a facility, a complete rebuild is far in excess of that capital) -
I fight a lot of Rikti, if you count Borea missions as Farming that is.

Bear in mind this is from launch time (ie 2004)
Quote:Taken from: http://www.forbes.com/smallbusiness/.../1004/100.htmlIn the 18 months before the Heroes debut, Cryptic's staff of 35 made the art and story come alive in 480,000 lines of code. The code is separated into 740 computer instruction files that handle everything from dressing up a character in an almost infinite selection of outfits (a total 10 to the 27th power, in fact) to flying through the city, as well as 25,000 graphics files. At peak hours 30,000 automated villains roam each of ten versions of the city. All the possibilities are managed by 600 2-gigahertz chips (from AMD) in ten servers. They can manage four teraflops, equivalent to the world's biggest supercomputer.
The last I heard the current game is over 2 million lines of code, but I dont have a cite for that. Not sure where I read it. Could have been here, could have been offsite.
Even if that code is 99.999% perfect that would still be 20 lines of code wrong. Finind that code line, and 'fixing it' can and often does create other lines of code that are now wrong. Squishing bugs is hard, in an environment this complex.
Then you have the compelx interactions. Like the famous 'undefined variable' that affected drop rates for over a year. It was defined most places, but in the one important subroutine it wasn't, ergo drop rates coulkd be and were affacted by odd things.
Then throw in hardware issues, I mean a cable is a cable is a cable right ? WRONG. Sometimes the flow of data between those 60 processor chips per sever (or more as they have since upgraded at least twice) get messed up not by progamming, but by a piece of other hardware, be it a cable, a connector or the fact that one of the server hamsters went where he/she shouldn't
Even with 11 (15 including Euro ones) supposedly identical server clusters runnign identical software , the actual running of each one is subject to minor differences in the hardware.
Pinnacle for years was slow to come round after maintenance, hence the 'drunk server' meme. Wasn't it the last but one double XP weekend that Virtue had terrible issues, which most of the other servers didn't. Again a hardware issue, not a bug, and realistically some of those hardware issues only show up under stress (like an event) -

As long as its an option we can set to decline, I'd be for it. Heck I'd be for it for PVE. I know most the folks in STO I talk to have toggled auto team off normally, but it does make for a quick and easy PUG if you are in the mood.

Quote:Thanks for those prices, I haven't been able to get in game much this year, and most of the time I have been there, I really have not been paying much attention to pricing outside of my couple of niches.Easily worth more. I got 150 mill for (crafted) lvl 10 Zephyr knockback protection which was 240 merits. Crafted Numina recovery/regen at level 30 seems to go for 150-200 million. Heck, the recipe alone is hitting 200 million.
Man, just noticed crafted zephyr going for up to 250 million now. -
Quote:I would HOPE that price is off by a factor of ten, or you have seriously been 'had'.So yesterday I was offered 10 million infamy to use 200 merits to make a low level proc.
200 merits is easily worth 50 million or so inf.
Last time I sold a 'direct roll' it was a 250 (or maybe 275) merit one and I got 100 million inf, and that was a lowball for a friend. -
World PVP in any shape or form is a non-starter as far as I am concerned, and would likely lead to a large number of canceled accounts from previous comments in many similar threads.

Quote:I think that covers the origin. Generally used for subversive/insurgent/infiltrator elements of a combined offensive
The term originated with a 1936 radio address by Emilio Mola, a Nationalist General during the 193639 Spanish Civil War. As his army approached Madrid, he broadcasted a message that the four columns of his forces outside the city would be supported by a "fifth column" of his supporters inside the city, intent on undermining the Republican government from within (see Siege of Madrid). -

I enjoy my /storm controllers. Having the -KB in the AOE immob is a big help to team friendliness.
for the defender variety, most* AVs/GMs are naturally resistant to KB so just go to town with the tornado and LS.
*like almost all, its VERY rare to have a vulnerable one. -
sonic/sonic is one of the best defenders I can bring to team.
Solo play its just nothing special
rad/sonic is certainly more solable, and arguably 'better' on a team. -
The old Archmage was one of the biggest complained about accolades.
Banisher @200 Masks
Illusionist @500 summoned illusionists
Got it on one character, never trired again.
The new illusionist @100 Summoned illusionist, plus dark servants, plus phantasms is actually reasonable to strive for.
If you never heard anyone complain about that, you just weren't listening. -

or if you were thinking about Going Rogue:

It would be possible, but a huge undertaking.
