It's not lag, it happens when my netgraph is completely green with no lost packets, 100% of the time. Besides, there are other reasons to change it, like flying enemies taking damage before they hit the ground, flying enemies looking silly when hit by the attack period, and enemies who don't get knocked back at all taking damage anyway.

It would look the same as every single other knockback power in the game. If you think that looks stupid, well, that's your prerogative. But it would at least look consistent.
Well no, at the moment it works like every other kb game, you see the orange number when the impact happens. What you're proposing is that you'd see an orange number when they take off and none when they hit the ground, which would look pretty pants (pants not being good).

Gotta agree. You're not just talking about CoH players, you're talking about CoH players whom also have whatever device you decide to release it on and can be bothered.

For example I've an iPad but wouldn't bother with a Market or Chat interface. I'd just log on and use the laptop.

Best bet would be 3rd party programs such as Mids. I'd certainly use that (although personally I'd question why someone just didn't make and maintain a Suckerpunch style web based solution instead and thus not have to worry about different code bases for different tablets)

When people talk MMOs they tend to be stupid and always think they are dying.

Here's a list of the top 10 MMOs based on their latest known sub base...

    01. WoW 10,000,000
    02. RuneScape 1,250,000
    03. L1 1,000,000
    04. L2 1,000,000
    05. FFXI 500,000
    06. Dofus 450,000
    07. EVE <250,000
    08. EQ2 200,000
    09. EQ ~175,000
    10. LOTRO <150,000
    10. CoX <150,000

That's right folks to get top 10 you only need to convince 150k people to keep with your title. And CoH/V is a top 10 MMO.

People always think MMOs are dying because they don't have 10,000,000 subs, but as you can see that's a rather extreme out lier that is a full order of magnitude above even it's second place.

A big hit is 100k or higher with MMOs. And having 2 or more in that category... that's pretty rare obviously. SOE has 2. NCsoft has 3. everyone else has 1

Where'd you get this list from? I find it highly surprising Aion isn't on it.

Also Rift has sold an estimated 1.3 million units, so why isn't it on this list?

I pretty much thought it was a run-of-the-mill Dr Who episode, which after last weeks one was exactly what I expected to be honest

Next weeks one looks good though.

Look, if you want to upgrade your Brute's performance, pick up Hasten, the Cardiac Alpha, and Stalagmites. Even without Hasten, your mighty SS attacks will take up a good chunk of Endurance, and you also have Rage crashes to deal with. Cardiac helps you come back from Rage crashes, makes your numerous toggles cost less...It's a great help for a character with high endurance usage and no Endurance Recovery powers.

I guess you COULD get both Cardiac and Energy Mastery. I've seen people do that on SD/SS Tankers and pop Conserve Power when their blue bar gets low.

Also, you may want to put a Force Feedback: -Recharge Proc into both Foot Stomp and Shield Charge. The proc almost always activates when you use those powers against groups of five enemies or more when I use it, and the recharge boost is a tremendous help.

    Good luck!
Don't put a FF into Shield Charge.

Unless you like wasting FF Procs of course.

Edit : To clarify, because SC uses a Pseudopet to do the knockdown and damage you'll only ever get a single chance for it to affect you when you cast it, rather than a chance per enemy hit as Footstomp does.

The company's marketing department's job is to get advertisements out to people. It is NOT their job to stuff those ads down people's throats. If people want to avoid those ads, it's their right. If people choose to avoid those ads, it's silly for them to pop up later and claim that the company didn't do a good enough job advertising.

The ad on the launcher is pretty mediocre in terms of getting it's message across. It doesn't have a splash image and lacks any details on what they're actually selling in the 3 or 4 sentences they have available.

To be honest it looks like a copy-and-paste job without considering the limited visible text available in the launcher headlines and allowing for it.

So the one point where they could legimately advertise their sale in an expected place without it being stuffed down peoples throats it's done pretty badly.

No, and it's unlikely there ever would be. It's far too different a medium to be bringing an existing MMO onto. You'd be more likely to see console support first.

    ^This.

Gravity Control has plenty of issues at the moment crying out for attention. This isn't one of them, it works fine as-is.
  11. It's also worth noting that Forts have access to a wide selection of the same Claw attacks as Widows do (mine has Dart Burst and Lunge, mostly for dealing with Carnies). There's redraw involved but as still works well (nothing better than locking down a nasty Carnie boss with Dominate, Glooming it and then skewering it with Lunge and sending it flying with TK Thrust).

Things like Gloom and Dark Oblit also fit into the ranged attack chains very well and add a different damage type into the mix.

Both are excellent and great fun to play. Especially considering they're not mutually exclusive and you can in essence level two characters at once with Dual Builds. How different they are to play really depends on you and how you like to build each one (I skipped the cone attacks on my Widow and she's a single target melee blender with a nice pseudo PBAOE chain in Spin, Fences and Ball Lightning, I took two cones on my Fort along with Psi Tornado and Dark Oblit and a strong mixed-type single target ranged chain with Dominate, Subdue, TK Blast and Gloom).

So I can log in and decide if I want to play Ms Scrapper/Stalker who eats Carnies for breakfast or the mez-proof Domi with stupid defenses who helps mow down tonnes of minions on teams.

These things are verifiable facts you can research for yourself if you're so inclined. If you find statistical errors with my analysis I'm more than happy to be corrected on facts.
This is kinda true, kinda. Forts have stronger AOE capabilities, and the glory that is the crashless nuke (aka "What the hell was that" as people on teams tend to call it). If you're fighting lots of enemies the Fort is going to do lots more damage, even if their AOEs aren't the strongest and animate kinda slowly, simply becausre they'll be hitting lots and lots of enemies at once. You can back this up with a decent range single target chain (one which pales compared to a NWs melee chain but doesn't need you to be in close and has control built into it).

In my experience levelling a dual build all the way up I've found the Fort overall more useful on larger teams where you can just stand there and spam wide-area AOE upon AOE and the NW much better on smaller teams or solo (the NW is ridiculously good at soloing Tip missions). The Fort is also much easier on the Blue Bar.

Building both at the same time and deciding what mood you're in today to play is a blast though (I casually frankenslotted all the way from level 30, frankenslotting Def/Recharge IOs in Mind Link works wonders for both and isn't particularly expensive, especially if you're also running tips and rolling a-merits to fund things as you go.

I'd switch the recharge for another PROC, either a Gravitional Anchor Chance of Hold PROC (stuck one of these in myself over the weekend, cost around 55 million to buy and craft) or the Immob PROC.

Because it's got such a low recharge and is more spam-worthy than any other AOE Immob (thanks to the higher base damage, one of Plants advantages over other sets) PROCs work very well in it. It's best slotted as an AOE attack which also immobs (and hence sets up containment for the next one) rather than an AOE immob. The last thing Plant needs is more Immob duration really, between yourself, Fly Trap and Creepers you throw out heaps of immobs anyway.

    Quote:
You might also move the FF +Rech proc to Fissure, where it will proc often against large spawns.
^ This. You'll get a lot more use from it in Fissure compared to Gale, which has horrific base accuracy to boot. Due to the way PROCs work it doesn't even matter than the chance for knockdown in Fissure is only 50%. The proc will still have it's usual chance to proc against everyone hit by fissure whether they fall over or not.

If you've got the slot available then the Achilles Heel chance for -resist is a good choice for Fly Trap as well, 3 of its attacks will benefit (the 2 thorn attacks and the bite all do -defense).

Switch the Trap of the Hunter proc in creepers for a Posis blast, it will go off far, far more often (4 to 5 times more often in tests I've done). ToTH will only check when Creepers immobiles things (the Brial attacks), Posis will go off for any damaging attacks, ie both the Briars and the Vine attacks. Roots is a good place for Trap of the Hunter procs (unless you go for the Grav purple PROC instead). The Slow and Posi Blast procs are the two to put into Creepers.
  14. Just to clarify something here, if you play an Earth Dom you get some powers which aren't affected by domination, but which are as effective as the controller versions all the time. And you still get a blue bar top up and mez protection.

Some dominator sets could do with a pass overall, and in certain cases changed to add domination effects to them (arctic air mainly) but Earth Dominators don't need more domination affected powers particulary.

As for why domination cannot work with pseudo pets it's a mechanical reason, the same "caster" issue that things like the Forced feedback proc suffers from. The game can't use the usual "if caster is in domination mode" check because the caster for patch powers is an invisible pseudo pet which cant be in domination mode ever.

I've often wondered if they could add a domination conditional second pseudo pet summon which would do a one off effect though, so for example with Spectral terror you could do an additional one off 10 second fear effect if domination is up. But then they'd be obliged to weaken the spectral terror effect, dropping the fear durations and the rather nice 15% to hit debuff it has and can double stack.

It would affect the creepers, if creepers could be affected by recharge bonuses (which they can't).

Pretty much a waste of time I'm afraid (might have a chance to go off when you summon the creepers, but that's not much use even if it is the case)

Also, don't cross post the same question across 3 boards, its against the rules for a good reason

    Thundergod

A decent B movie with more than a whiff of 80s cheese about it. Grand but nothing spectular really.

Also : 3D sucks and I'm never, ever going to another 3D movie, at least not in this generation. Everything was so bloody dark and all the action scenes became a confusing mess.

    Agreed.

    Did my first Lambda today.

by the gods it was a painful, laggy, non-fun experience. It'll be my last too. Alternate ways of earning Threads would be very welcome (and iXP, but I'm even willing to burn 80 million inf to avoid ever going near the Lambda trial ever again, even though I'm hardly loaded).

There should be a few iXP / incarnate Story arcs available for teams to run for those of us that don't have the PC power to deal with the Lagda and Bloody Awful Framerate Trials (or inclination to run them. Although I don't mind the BAF too much).

I actually enjoyed Remials arcs. Crying shame that's where Story ended and dull, laggy grind begins with this system (and I am not even running them that much)

It is possible but would take a lot longer to accomplish that just running the trials and would cost a considerable amount of influence.
34 threads is roughly the answer. Each spend gives you 3% of the iXP needed. You also need 2.5 million per go (2.5 million seems to be popular). So 34 Threads and 85 million inf will give you 100% iXP for opening something (might be 33 and 82.5 million inf in fact if it's actually 3.3333% a go)

I did it with the Interface slot because I've never managed to get onto a Lambda team, ever or see one forming. It always seems to be BAFs running.

Seems like loads (and it kinda is) but I sold the proceeds of a-merit random rolls to earn it fairly quickly with my Fort/Night Widow.

    Vanguard Pack!

I finally have a Fire Sword on my Broadsword/Fire Scrapper.

I also hijacked bAss's information on how to make decent looking Fire auras using one of the auras (Bioplasma) as a combat aura and setting the powers to use Dark Fiery in the same colours.

I'll post screenies later but I'm very happy with the changes. Ta bAss!!
  25. I wouldn't rely on Reactive staying the same in terms of how it works with Rain Powers going forward. If and when the Powers Team get their act together I fancy all Rain and Toggle powers will get the same sort of supression current PROCs have.

Still Reactive is head and shoulders above the others even so. I'm not sure what the Powers Team were doing introducing one so obviously superior to the others (Diamagnetic is OK, the other two are pretty pointless).

Personally I'd have added Damage PROCs to all 4, the other 3 would do damage of around 50% of reactive. Either than or made them unresistable so the others would be attractive vs AVs (they can't stack too much anyway).
