another plant storm in the works and needing advice

I'm leading more towards using my plant storm for incarnate trials before my fire/storm and wanting some advice and help on my build. I've got hasten perma and if I go with spirtual I could actuallly drop a slot and use it else where, with a little bit of tweaking I might even be able to drop 2 slots. I didn't really have a certain goal in mind as far as my sets go so I just kinda picked and placed my enhan (well no goal for sets, but was trying to get procs worked in). Was wanting to try a few more things to the build before posting it, but I'm having to leave for a bit so figured I'd go ahead and put it out there so i'll have some suggestiong waiting when I get back. Thanks for all the hlep in advance

Gale - unless you plan on using it alot, switch the proc for your standard crafted acc.
Roots - switch the recharge for a immobilize of some sort to prolong the duration. Even a crafted one will get you plus 11 seconds.
Snow Storm - free up a slot, could be used elsewhere (like boxing for the set bonus).
Freezing Rain - lose the two recharges and replace with 2 Shield Breaker so the Defense Debuff is up to a -40% then the default (- 30%). Sure your recharge goes from 16 to 21, but the duration for it is 30 seconds and likely its not stackable (even if you are trying for more proc hits).
Tough - Lose the Aegis, since you're trying to soft cap your Defense, not Resistance.

You might also move the FF +Rech proc to Fissure, where it will proc often against large spawns.

I would not follow this advice and it suggests a lack of knowledge of how Freezing Rain works. The difference between a 40% and a 30% defense debuff will be negligible, and in situations where those percentage points make a difference, you have Tornado. Recharge should be paramount in Freezing Rain, and I think your current slotting is intelligent. If you want a full understanding of how Freezing Rain works (with current bugs) read my guide in the sig (note numbers provided are for defenders, yours are a little lower). Freezing Rain debuff can last from 15 to 45 seconds depending on how lucky you get with the bug, and absolutely stacks with itself.

I'd switch the recharge for another PROC, either a Gravitional Anchor Chance of Hold PROC (stuck one of these in myself over the weekend, cost around 55 million to buy and craft) or the Immob PROC.

Because it's got such a low recharge and is more spam-worthy than any other AOE Immob (thanks to the higher base damage, one of Plants advantages over other sets) PROCs work very well in it. It's best slotted as an AOE attack which also immobs (and hence sets up containment for the next one) rather than an AOE immob. The last thing Plant needs is more Immob duration really, between yourself, Fly Trap and Creepers you throw out heaps of immobs anyway.

^ This. You'll get a lot more use from it in Fissure compared to Gale, which has horrific base accuracy to boot. Due to the way PROCs work it doesn't even matter than the chance for knockdown in Fissure is only 50%. The proc will still have it's usual chance to proc against everyone hit by fissure whether they fall over or not.

If you've got the slot available then the Achilles Heel chance for -resist is a good choice for Fly Trap as well, 3 of its attacks will benefit (the 2 thorn attacks and the bite all do -defense).

Switch the Trap of the Hunter proc in creepers for a Posis blast, it will go off far, far more often (4 to 5 times more often in tests I've done). ToTH will only check when Creepers immobiles things (the Brial attacks), Posis will go off for any damaging attacks, ie both the Briars and the Vine attacks. Roots is a good place for Trap of the Hunter procs (unless you go for the Grav purple PROC instead). The Slow and Posi Blast procs are the two to put into Creepers.

I agree, I lack somewhat in the hard numbers of Freezing Rain. Yet I have my doubts that a mere 5 seconds will hobble the build. And the set bonus of 2.5% to endurance shouldn't be just dismissed as unimportant. As to the debuff, you could raise it to 46% with a switch to a Achilles Heel -defense debuff, and a Shield Break - defense debuff for 2.5% endurance and 1.5 to damage set bonus.

But whatever... cus the unmodified End Cost (18) is going to kill him if he keeps casting every 16 seconds. He could switch the recharges to Undermined Defenses, def-debuff/recharge + the recharge/endurance for a +2% to damage set bonus and lowering the endurance cost of the power to 14.95 and still have a cast time of 17 seconds. Of course, if the +5 to the debuff is worthless, you could replace the def-debuff/recharge with the straight Undermined Defense -recharge and get the power recharge back down to 16 seconds and still with the endurance reduction and set bonus.

Actually that was my first thought too, but decided to play it safe and just say go with duration because it does matter at times. I don't have a Plant, nor have play one pass 20, so don't feel qualified in giving advise. But on Storms, I do have a number of them that I play often.

I didn't say anywhere that it would hobble the build, but 5 seconds faster recharge would be noticable. Another 10% defense debuff would not. 2 Freezing Rains stacking would get you 60% defense debuff, more effective than 40% I think you'd agree

This build in general is going to run into end troubles. I think Death will find that he almost certainly wants to go with cardiac rather than spiritual, and then the ammount of end reduction necessary is going to depend on how much Death plans on exemping and his general play style. Endurance reduction in Freezing Rain isn't a bad choice, defense debuff though is mostly wasted.

Swap out the Immob chance for damage proc in CC and put in Posi's proc. The Immob one really doesn't fire often. Trust me, on my next respec it's getting moved.

Dang, we have plant/storm trollers coming out the woodworks now.

Stop it! Stop it I say. I liked it when my troller was unique.

Could I get some more opinions/suggestions on this idea:

Was thinking about dropping hurricane, boxing, tough, and weave and picking up
aid other, aid self, maneuvers, and acrobatics

Any thoughts or comments on that?

I"ve got a build for both ways, and my old build has been redone a bit, will post 1 or maybe both of them to get some more pointers based on the comments I get from this post.

Thanks again!

Acrobatics -- Acrobatics provides a Mag 10 Knockback protection for a lot of endurance. I haven't had that power on any character since the -knockback IOs came out. One Mag 4 -knockback will take care of about 90-95% of the knockback in the game. A second one will get you up to about 98%. Acrobatics uses a lot of endurance for what it does, and the "hold" protection is pretty much worthless. Remember that Steamy Mist will take BOTH Steadfast and Karma -Knockback IOs. You can also put a Karma -Knockback in Combat Jumping, which uses very little endurance.

I haven't built any of my */Storm characters for Defense. Hurricane has a huge -ToHit debuff AND a 60% Range debuff. Plus, */Storm uses so much endurance that it is hard to run additional toggles. Instead of defense, I use invisibility (Steamy Mist + either Super Speed or a Stealth IO) to allow me to mez or debuff or drag in a pet to draw aggro before they have a chance to hit me.

Aid Other and Aid Self are worth considering on a */Storm. I would keep Hurricane and slot it up with ToHit Debuff (I generally use 4 Dark Watcher).

While I had aid self on my /Storm, may I make a suggestion of just taking Spirit Tree instead. I understand Spirit Tree's disadvantages, but you end-up with a free power slot (since you don't have to take aid other) and likely use the same number of slots.

Just something you may want to look into.

As for the rest, I agree with Local... let someone else take Leadership. As for capping your defense, its great if you can do it but I won't worry about it if you can't.

Ok well I've tweaked my build a bit from the suggestions I've received, think I will be going with cardiac, I feel as though I've got my recharge to be good enough and when the pric in fissure fires off it'll help out aswell. If I wanted to cut the cost a bit, could I swap out some of the LotG def/end and def enhan. with some chepaer ones? Or is the extra regen and hp bonuses worth the influ being a controller? I made a couple other builds, 1 build I took the medicine pool, and another build I took spirit tree, I kinda would like to have one or the other (I should remember to save and save often, unfortunally I don't so therefore I had stepped away for a bit and my computer ran a scan and download that required it to restart so now I have neither of those builds left and not sure if I want to try and redo them all over again when I've got this one that seems to be a decent build atleast to me anyways)

Sorry for the rambling, but here's my revised build
