Woke up this morning to find a nice surprise in my WW window. At first I was somewhat disapponted in getting that purple. But now, not so much...
Hopefully this screenshot link works...

I'm no expert...but I have some ideas I would try if it was me having the same problem.
Are your graphics drivers up to date? If not, go to Nvidia, or AMD etc and get the latest drivers.
Have you tried to login with another character? Or just the one? Maybe it's a problem with that particular character.
Have you tried running the game in Safe Mode? That sets all the graphics options to their lowest. You might want to try that, and see if you can at least get in.
So ya...get the latest drivers, run the game in safe mode, and see if you can get in. If not, try running safe mode again and try a different character. -
Personally, virtually 100% of the time I am farming, it's to level up an alt of mine on another account. I usually farm at +3 x 8. But now, since I got my level shift yesterday, I will likely increase to +4 x 8, since my difficulty will stay essentially the same, but the xp for my alt should increase. If I was just farming for drops tho, (which I never do, they are just a byproduct of my xp-fest), I would probably stay at 0 x 8 and mow through mobs even more easily. So count me in as increasing my difficulty, for the above mentioned reason.

I like soloing personally. It's why I chose a scrapper for my first ever hero character, and a stalker for my first ever villain. I liked their survivability, and non dependence on other toons for support. I don't like the idea that "you have" to team if you want to get the rare/ultra rare incarnate slots. Some people like soloing their 50's. Not everyone likes going online and seeing how big of a team they can form, and let's go fight evil or whatever! 8-)
Even when I don't solo, it doesn't really count because I'm playing with my other toons. I've got 4 accts, and plenty of powerful characters. I can pretty much level up my own characters fairly fast, and I don't need a team to do anything in this game. Oh wait...now I do. :-/
Don't turn this game into WoW with the requirement you have to raid or do team instances to even have a chance at the best gear etc. What's next? Enhancement Score rating for how well you have your powers slotted with high end enhancements? That's why I left WoW. "Looking for tank for ICC. Please link previous achievement badge and GS 6500+ rating" ring a bell? Or, if you do want to keep making us do TF's... can you please also give us soloists an alternate way to also experience the incarnate goodies? -
Regenerative Tissue: + Regeneration.
Personally, I roll 25-29 golds. I used to roll 35-39 golds because statistically I think it is the highest percentage to get a Miracle: +Rec, Numina: Regen/Recov, and Lotg7.5% recharge speed based on the amount of recipes in the pool. But, I had horrible luck rolling that range, personally. So, I am back to rolling 25-29s again, and got a Miracle: +recove, and Lotg 7.5% on consecutive rolls, so am happy again. Got a Basilisk's Gaze quad too the next dayI use this option because on my farmer I generate tickets fast, and can turn them in every couple of runs through AE. Basically, 5 runs is enough to generate about 7000 tickets, or two of these rolls for me @ 3400/roll for the 25-29 Golds.
I've got no patience for rolling 1000 bronze's even if overall I could end up with more overall profit by doing so. It's just not worth it time-wise for me to sift through and delete a bunch of recipes for a few good ones. lol. -
I suppose it would if they were actually about to try to craft an enhancement and there was a little button beside the common salvage they didnt have labelled "buy for 1000 inf" or something. It could even be beside the ingredients when they opened their recipe window, and saw they had 0 of a required item. Doesn't have to be so secret, or hidden.

Quote:No. But today after logging out to the character select screen, I couldn't login to any of my heroes. The "Go to Paragon City" arrow or whatever was grayed out. The "Rogue Isles" button for my villains worked though. I had to totally exit coh, and re-login before the hero characters could enter the game. :-sWent to log in and got the message that I was on a Trial account did I want to upgrade?
??? This account is has been a full account for over 57 months. Wouldn't let me get on my character. Anyway said No and backed out of the menus and relogged and seems fine now.
Just wondering if anyone else had this happen. -
[QUOTE=weather_witch;3472986]I'm considering the change to windows 7 any known issue with COH under windows 7? Anything I need to know when changing over the be sure coh runs right? I'm assuming the coh client on the web site is up to date? I hate loading COH and having to let the machine run all night to catch all the updates..sigh.
QUOTE]
I read somewhere on these forums recently that you can just save your CoH folder to a DVD-R or a memory stick(it's a 3.9 GB folder or so), and then just re-copy the folder back to your computer after you reformat and install your new OS. Then just run the updater again, and it will verify the files, and you should be good to go. Might need a double check on that from someone who has actually done this though. Can someone more knowledgeable than me verify this works? -
They are always scrambled after a respec. It's not really scrambled, but I believe the game begins putting the powers back into your tray in the order you would have received them as you levelled up. Unfortunately that means all the mostly useless ones like prestige sprints, etc seem to all fill on the first row. lol. I believe you can use /cleartray to remove all the power icons from the tray. This is sometimes easier; redragging the powers you want back to your empty tray from the "powers" tab, than trying to move the powers around on trays that are full already with temp powers you may never use like the prestige sprint powers, walk, jetpacks, etc.

I always run CoH in full screen mode. But I am usually in between missions or sometimes in the middle of them(lol!) alt-tabbing out of CoH to change a song on youtube, or check my email etc. Sometimes, but not always, when I alt-tab back into CoH I am seeing the CoH screen, but when I go to click a power, it's like I am on the window below it? I really hate going to click cinders, and next thing I know I'm bumped out of coh and it's clicking on an IE link on youtube or something.
So why am I seeing the CoH window, but my clicks are sometimes hitting pages on the desktop? Can I fix this? Also, related....sometimes to alt-tab out of coh takes me two attempts. the first alt-tab basically brings me back to coh. Doing it again actually brings me to my other open window.

I made about 2 billion although it was not from anything planned, just playing the game. I got 6 purple drops(apocalypse, soulbound x4 lol, and abs amazement) over DXP weekend and about 40 yellow and orange recipes while levelling up my characters. I crafted everything that was worth it, and listed em all for about 60% the going rate. All are sold now, and I am up the 2 billion. :-D

Quote:I wonder if it's just the animation not showing on your screen because of a video problem? The power could be animating normally on other player's screens...?The animation for Assassins Eclipse in the Dark Melee stalker set is broken. About half of the time (more so on teams), when I use the power, my toon just stands there as the power fires off. On teams it looks like I am just standing there doing nothing. Please devs FIX this problem. I pay good money for this game and my toon is unplayable.
But ya...as long as orange numbers show up, things are still gonna die whether the animation plays or not. -
Quote:Ah ok...that was what I was wondering. There is some fractional return on kb protection I noticed though. I took my Dominator into a pvp zone last night, and she had 4 kb io's for -16 protection. Once she enters zone, its kb protection of 4.7( 5.7 with Domination). Hmm. So I guess that -41 kb protection with io's is actually only equivalent to about -12 kb protection in pve(which is pretty excellent)? I'm not sure why they felt the need to put a multiplier on that kind of stuff. It doesn't make sense to me, especially if it scaled across the board. You know...like "oh your -12 protection is only -4 now. But it's ok...cuz that kb attack that used to do like 5 pts kb, now only does 1.6?" o_O Is this right?Okay, 1st; getting 41KB Res is for toons that don't have a toggle that already protects from it, like Blasters, Defenders, etc. They take acro, for 9, then KB IOs. On an SR, with Practiced Brawler, you already can't be KB'd by anything, so you wouldn't build for knockback prot. Same with Regen, or really any melee toon, save DA, FA, or Nin.

Hi everyone.
I'm not a pvp'er at all. But I was messing around with two of my cousins in Warburg this weekend, and I had to admit it was fun. We had just "normal" toons. Like not specifically designed for pvp, but that have some good io sets etc, and are pretty good in pve. I read some posts on this boards, and some build critiques, and had some questions.
Ok...kb protection. -30 or -40 pts of kb protection? Uh...is the universe gonna fall on me? lol. Why do I need so much? In pve on my /sr scrapper I had practiced brawler, and that seemed to work pretty well for never getting kb'd. What's the reason for all this kb protection? Is there a diminishing return on this protection in pvp or something? I suppose I could just go to a pvp zone and find out, but I'd prefer not to look like a total fool first. Although I'm sure that wouldn't be possible against anyone with an ounce of pvp experience.
I am guessing speed is very important in pvp. But do you absolutely need two travel powers? Is SS a requirement? How good is flight in pvp? I guess on a ranged blaster, but I am talking melee scrapper here. SS and SJ? Or is just SJ or SS good enough?
I won't be buying the pvp io's. Some are cheap, but some are real bank breakers. Ya...Glad armor proc I will have to live without. ;-) I understand that they have two sets of bonuses, but how effective is a non pvp io'd toon vs a pvp io'd one, generally? Am I just wasting my time considering going to a pvp zone without like a 20 billion inf build? I'm not considering pvping for the kills. But I would like to have fun. And getting my butt handed to me over and over again would be more frustrating than fun, in my books. lol.
What's a fightclubber? Scrub? I've seen these terms tossed around in a few posts, but don't know what they mean.
That's all I can think of for now. Thanks to anyone and everyone who answers my questions. -

Quote:From a kills/time perspective it would be faster with a level shift. But realistically, on a purpled out, dedicated farming toon you probably won't notice the difference; or at least I don't. My fire/kin regularly solo's +3 x 8 when getting xp for an alt, and it's only marginally slower than +2 x 8 for me, but the xp is larger enough that the slightly longer run time is worth it. But I would blow through a 0x8 mob in basically the same time as -1x8. Basically, everything is dead in less than 15 seconds(never timed it, but it is pretty fast) regardless, whether its level 50 or 49 enemies. But if it takes me 15 seconds, or 13 seconds, I'm not going to notice the difference of 2 seconds. Especially when all that saved time is essentially wasted the first time I go get a Diet Coke, or someone sends me a tell in game, and I take a lil break to reply to them etc. :-)I had a thought today while sitting at my desk pretending to work. Is it possible that the level shift now available could result in a drop in purple recipe prices? Follow my resoning:
I make inf two ways: Marketeering, and farming for purple drops. I farm for purples with a diff setting of +0x8. With the level shift, the difficulty is effectively dropped to -1x8 meaning I will kill mobs faster, increasing my chances of getting a purple in the same amount of time. I know purple farming is a fairly popular activity, at least among the folks I play regularly with. Will this possible increase in supply be enough to cause recipe prices to begin falling? -

I need a clarification on how these recipes drop. If you are on a team consisting of two players, and defeat an opponent, does each player have a chance of a recipe dropping for them? Or does it determine first at the kill if one drops, and if so, randomly determine which member of the team gets it? Can both team members receive a pvp recipe from the same kill, or not?
Thanks! -

----EDIT!
I found out the answer on the PvP forums. At the time of the kill, it determines if one drops, and then randomly determines which team member gets it.

I'd be more in favor of this "enforced teaming" if they would at least remove the minimum amount of players required to actually start the WTF. They could leave the normal amount required for the regular TF version, but modify(eliminate) it for the Weekly Strike Target. Actually requiring 8 people is a bit overkill, considering that with incarnate abilities already slotted, and purpled out toons etc, we are no longer talking about difficulty of content that is usually(supposedly) designed around non-io'd characters. So if a TF is designed for 8 non-io characters...surely super io'd toons can accomplish the same feat with less players? Why not give them the option to at least try?

I've been annoyed for awhile about most of those things you already mentioned peterpeter. The difference between the naming of a recipe and crafted enhancement is my major petpeeve though. Also...I hate how there is a difference in name between "disorient" and "stun" etc, although it exactly the same. Why would a recipe be called something like "whatever:chance to stun" and the crafted enhancement be "whatever:disorient bonus"!!! That kind of stuff drives me crazy.

Well I have saved Baby New Year a lot of times...
