When you zone into the ruined Atlas Park mission in late game villains and realise that there's no background noise at all... Then immediately alt-tab out and fire up Audacity to record the tell sound effect to shove onto your phone as the message notification.

Quote:Apologies, I must have had a brain failure. By MM Primary Set, I meant the MM ATO set, not Bots/Zombies/thugs etc.If it's a pile of steaming wossname, I haven't really noticed. My bots/traps MM has been able to pretty much shred through almost everything this game can throw at me. Then again, I think I felt that way about it back when only SOs were available. Maybe I'll notice this deficiency with my thugs/poison MM.
Mea culpa. -
Quote:So far as I understand it, it's random, but there are different 'grades' of random.Don't mean to threadjack, but I haven't been paying too much attention to beta lately.
I've read the info on converters up on Paragon Wiki, but I'm not clear on one thing: do you get to choose the set and individual IO you convert your enhancement into? Or do you get a random one from the set you want?
You can convert to a random within the same set, or a random within the same rarity level, or a random within the same category.
Each of which has a different converter cost, the table on http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Enhancem...verter_Salvage has more details, but looks to be a little tricky to read at first glance.
Oh, and on topic again, maybe I lost out big time, but frankly <shrug> if I had 1Bn inf to store in a speculative bid on an IO I'll probably never bother using then meh. <grin>
(I'll probably not bother using it for the same reason I have crafted PVP +res and +def uniques sat in the trays of a couple of alts. I find the whole IO process to be an interminable and tedious faff on.) -
I'm not sure if I got lucky, or not.
I ran out of alts to store inf on a while back, since I don't really spend it and keep generating it more out of habit than anything else.
So I placed what I considered lowball bids on various things as a storage mechanism. Nothing new there, lots of people do it.
Then Super Packs hit and this happened. <shrug> No big deal.
Then a couple of weeks ago (I kept forgetting to post this here), I logged in the alt I had a load of PVP Unique inf storage bids on to play a bit and found this:
So, I'm 1Bn liquid inf lighter, but I'm one shiny thing better off, at a pretty massive discount from the previous sales (and I don't think any more have shifted since that bid filled). Hence my ambivalence.
Grud alone knows what chaos is going to happen on Tuesday/Wednesday of this week. Good hunting for those of you who will be seeking to benefit from the chaos. Myself, I'm staying out of it, I've got MORE than enough inf for my needs and I'm too idle to put any real effort into getting more of something I don't need
(on a side note, what the drokk has happened to high level Rare salvage prices recently? last time I saw prices up in the 3-4M mark, Monkeygeddon was alive in the AE....) -

Quote:TypeHow does one join the Beta Testers channel? I might pop in with my stalker between those days you mentioned.
Code:/chanjoin "beta testers"
And Samuraiko, while I'd like to help, starting off at midnight my time on a work night (assuming San Francisco's in PST and I'm doing the maths right)... Not going to happen, sorry -
Just a warning, if they're the instructions I got sent way back from OminousVoice, then unless you're on XP, don't expect them to work. At least I was utterly unable to get my Win7(64bit) box to work with them

Quote:I'd miss Repair.Although considering it further, I don't think anyone would mourn Serum or Repair being removed.
An uninterruptible instant heal to full with some +end for one of your pets? it's kept my Assault Bot alive more times than enough, even since I got a Rebirth Destiny. The fact that 2 or 3 recharge SO's is all the slotting it really needs is a bonus.
Of course I'd use it far less if they'd fix the blasted AI on the bots so they didn't think that lasers and plasma cannon needed to be used at point blank range.... <sigh> -
Are you sure about that? Because so far as I'm aware, you can only have 6 ATIO's on a single toon, you can have 6 normal, 6 Catalysed or a mixture of each adding up to 6 total, but so far as I'm aware, you can't have the same enhancement twice in catalysed and non catalysed form.
From http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/ATO :
"Standard and Superior enhancements of the same type are mutually exclusive; a character cannot slot both Blaster's Wrath: Accuracy/Damage and Blaster's Wrath: Accuracy/Damage (Superior)."
:edit: ah, you edited while I was looking things up and writing this, I'll leave this here for the link in case it's helpful to anyone. -
Just an update, I was slightly mistaken, you need to be Incandescence'd out of both of the 500 point Public Opinion sections to avoid the crash, we ran a TPN tonight that way and didn't crash.
Hopefully this is of some use for people before any fixes go live for the issue. -
Well, I know for this one at least, there are two VERY odd URL's for the two images at the bottom of the newsletter, the Inspirations and Paragon Points ones.
For example...Code:Which should really behttp://newsletters.ncsoft.com.vsingh.webdev03.austin.ncwest.ncsoft.corp/global/emp/coh/includes/images/2012-02-14/art_01.jpg
andCode:http://newsletters.ncsoft.com.vsingh.webdev03.austin.ncwest.ncsoft.corp/global/emp/coh/includes/images/2012-02-14/art_02.jpg
I'm assuming the URL's didn't get fixed properly when going from internal testing to public posting, but .vsingh.webdev03.austin.ncwest.ncsoft.corp is a pretty hefty string to leave in the middle of a URL... -
This is NOT my workaround, but try this.
You need someone with Incandescence.
Yes, there is actually a use for it.
When you're on the last 500 points of Public Opinion section, you need someone outside with Incandescence. The far NW corner of the map was used the other night. As soon as you get to 500 PO, then the person with Incandescence fires it and teleports the entire league to that NW corner.
The league I was on on Tuesday night did this and we made it to the end.
As far as details to the strategy go, you're on your own, sorry. I didn't come up with it, but it did seem to work, YMMV, as always.
Good luck if you decide to try it.
:edit: Oh, and as a side note, when you are actually able to log that character back in after a Mapservered TPN? Make sure you go to the LFG and leave the event you're in. That little status flag was playing havoc with trials forming for days afterwards, as the characters that'd crashed were still flagged as on a trial, causing fresh trials to fail to queue... -
Quote:As I posted above, even if it was a small mistake, then the 'correction' was also a small mistake, as on at least one official mention of the shinies, they're called Archetype Enhancements, so should really be abbreviated to AE's (and wouldn't all the confusion that would cause just be worth it?), or maybe ATE's.Someone made a small mistake and someone else let them know about it.
The whole 'Origin' term as relates to enhancements is a holdover from Single and Dual Origin enhancements being tied to your Origin as chosen at character creation. Training enhancements don't use the word 'Origin' in them at all, so it's just become accepted player shorthand for enhancement.
As I said above, who cares what abbreviation people are using, so long as it's clear what they're referring to? But posting a correction just because someone doesn't use your preferred abbreviation reeks a little of snark. -
Quote:Find me something on my Bots/Traps MM I can usefully place it in please. Can you throw it on Soul Extraction, or /Dark's Fluffy, or Hell on Earth, or Gang War, or a thousand other recharge intensive pets that MMs can get ahold of?
And by usefully, I mean where the Recharge will actually have an impact on my gameplay, since resummoning pets doesn't happen often enough to warrant losing other enhancement values for the AoE Defence. -
But you say that about everything :P
Personally, I quite liked Dr Brainstorm, as it was an (at the time) rare example of applying an in game reason for a purely mechanical change.
Given that we used to get articles like the history of the red and green lines, the ferries and so forth written as Paragon Press news articles, and designed to *look* like newpaper articles, then after a long gap in the production of that stuff, anything was welcome, so far as I was concerned.
And as always with CoH, if it doesn't fit with *your* view of the game world, then just ignore it. -
Quote:By that logic, it should be AO, for Archetype Origin.A little off topic: It's ATO, not ATIO. There are no ArcheType Invention Origin enhancements at this time.
Or, more correctly, AE's, for Archetype Enhancements, since that's what they're called on at least one official announcement.
Relax, let people call them what the hell they want to, so long as it's clear what they're talking about. -
And I'm not talking about the ATIOs.
I found this today, apparently I'm now the owner of 30 level 50 LoTG +7.5% recipes, instead of having 1.6BN stored as bids... Oh well
Prices down to 50M a pop on what has otherwise held steady at 97M-120M?
I'm assuming people have been burning the reward merits from Super Packs into LoTG's for inf conversion?
If not that, then does anyone else have any cunning theories? Oh and level 30 Numina Regen/Recovery recipes were down to about 65M apiece before I yanked my bids off.
And this is likely only the beginning of the markets going screwy in old, established and otherwise 'traditional' niches. Grud alone knows what'll happen when Converters hit.
Now I need to roll some new alts to store inf on. Hohum. -

Quote:OK, I can't decide if you're being serious, condescending or deliberately trying to get a rise out of people here, so I'm not even going to bother trying to figure it out any more...You would know cause D a r k A g e is the badass Brute with the boneyard/skull look.
If you want your costume to win next time I suggest you get on my level son. I will be having another CC this weekend probably so you can look at D a r k A g e and take notes
Ironik, IMO has posted a variety of costumes demonstrating creativity and a sense of humour. A 'badass Brute with the boneyard/skull look.' sounds to me like a dozen or more characters I've seen every week since issue 6 at the Cap Au Diable market. However, I'm willing to be proven wrong, so feel free to post your brute, with bio attached. -
I don't necessarily write much in my bios, I mean my oldest and original toon (Katana/Regen) still has, after 7 years the bio of 'Where *does* that Katana come from?' as a one man, completely unnoticed protest at the lack of a saya costume piece...
However, on a side note, I have a terrible habit, I read other people's bios and if I see a spelling mistake (and I will see it if there's one there, sadly I can spot one at 40 yards) in a bio that otherwise uses the english language and not gibberish, I'll send them a tell about it. Just gently pointing it out along the lines of 'There may be a typo in your bio, the <word with typo> in <general location in bio> should probably be spelled <corrected spelling>'
Am I alone in this minor pedantry?
I don't think I've had an annoyed or angry response yet to that sort of thing, I think most people are mildly pleased that someone's paid enough attention to the bio to spot a potential error.
Anyway, we now return you to your regularly scheduled argument.
And on a side note, related to the current disagreement, my opinion is that in this game, regardless of whether you're teamed or not, the world you see is the world as defined by your character. So we've got thousands of coexisting, parallel world histories running at once. Who *CARES* if one of your teammates has a bio that says they're the son of the big bang, come to save the world using only their left eyebrow? All that matters to me is the path through the game that my character takes, and how they interact with all the weird and wonderful creations that other people come up with. All other players are are bit parts in my characters story. All I am to other characters is a bit part. That's how I rationalise it to myself, anyway. -
Quote:It's not just weird, it's bloody annoying. The thing I've always been curious about is, why do we have two detectives/brokers per zone? It just seems a little weird to me that, depending on your character, you might be assigned to Person A or Person B that are functionally identical.
Levelling a toon with a friend, you will almost invariably end up with two different detectives/brokers. You both pick up, for example, the Kings Row Mayhem. You run yours, you get away with the loot, hurrah! temp power, new contact etc. you then have to do it all over again, because while his is the exact same damn mission, because it's from a different contact, he couldn't auto-complete the blasted thing at the end of yours. And if you're levelling via story arcs, then this whole fiasco tends to repeat every five levels... -
Quote:I like it all in all, but...I've tried to keep it simple, but have added a few details and textures where needed. Comments and feedback would be appreciated!!!
I know the red background is the i22/Dark Nasty influence, but to me it all seems too red. Sort of denies the scarf a chance to pop.
I had a quick hack around with a quick mask and desaturate, and came up with this :
Just a slightly different take on the source, YMMV -

Quote:Depends on how you think your luck will hold up...So, I'm happy with my random Hero Merit rolls... I've picked up my fair share of big ticket items in addition to a lot of 10-20million recipes. The batch I bought from Fulmens had a nice mix with a few 100m crafted items mixed in with "crap"TM
Question for the market experts... I have been running task forces and picking up regular merits off things like the explore accolades and initial tips / second run in a week of signature story arc etc. Should I be converting these to hero merits and random rolling on the hero merit tables or just go to a regular merit vendor and random rolling there? What's the common wisdom on this choice?
For 50 reward merits and 20M inf, you get 5 random recipes from a Hero Merit.
The same 50 Merits will get you two and a half random rolls as Reward Merits, but you won't have spent the 20M with the chance of getting bog all from the rolls.
It's one of those personal choice things as far as I'm concerned. Convert and burn if you think your luck will hold, Covert and save if you're after a specific recipe, don't convert if you can't spare the 20M inf.
Sorry I couldn't be much more help, but I don't think that there is a single 'best' option. -
Quote:I've got at least one bid on a Gladiator's +3def IO placed for 2Bn, and it's been placed for weeks, so I'm not sure how you'd decide on an average bid in the 'big 3' category... Still a big lump of inf, but a somewhat fuzzy edged big lumpPoint of order: I just added up on my fingers the outstanding bids on the 'big three' pvp procs, and came up with something over 2300 bids in place.
If we assume those are a billion each, there's 2+ trillion you can look directly at.
