    AR/Rad help?

later on the boards. Might help with some ideas. It depends partially on what you're looking for, solo mostly, group mostly, active, passive, leveling curve, incarnate abilities, etc. I look for chars that can do large groups early with a good leveling curve but that's me.

The general corruptor advice i see for new corruptors is

    fire/dark
    ice/time
    fire/time
    fire/cold
    fire/kin

still see some fire/traps ... see the commonality? Really most sets you can make work, it really depends on what you want, and what you need, how patient you are, your budget, etc.

Edit: Also worth noting so I don't sound like a total min/maxer. Character concept and really what just seems fun or cool is important too, my chars live longest when I have some investiture in them creatively and I know who they are as a person as well as a mids export. I'm not a dedicated enough to play a nearly ineffective char just for concept but it's nice to have some balance.
What about fire/rad? I was under the impression that it was one of the top choices as well?

    Thanks for the reply!

I would not be surprised, I remembered that I got an old /traps corruptor though and she could put the trap down while using a jetpack. When trying it up in the air it said "Target in Air" but if she swooped down she could put the trap down. So now I'm not sure.
  3. Hi.

I'm interested in making a fire/poison corruptor, I prefer a hover blasting kind of playstyle and it occured to me that maybe Poison Trap only works while on the ground, like Footstomp and other powers.

I tried asking in game but got conflicting answers so I'm asking here.

Does Poison trap in the corruptor version of /poison work while hovering?

    Ice Blast it is!

Thank you all for the help, and wish Time Elemental luck in her super hero career
  5. Thanks for your input everybody!

I was -very- tempted to try a /time mastermind, but I don't think all the pets go well with my playstyle, as I tend to prefer very mobile, hover/flying characters.

So... let me present Time Elemental, a time/ice defender!

My only problem right now is I'm not sure if I should keep as time/ice or maybe reroll as time/fire I'm not sure what would be best. With all the massive debuffing time/ does, maybe fire's pure damage would be a better match?

Also, I can't believe I got the name Time Elemental.

  6. I also really lika DA

I enjoy a trial now and then but I do not want it to be the main thing I do.. I love to team, but I prefer to do so with a smaller group.

I hope they will continue to support that style of play.
  7. I have some really cool concepts, and even costumes for corruptors/defenders that use the guns/rifles, so I'm waiting for the redraw penalty to be removed.
  8. Hey all

I'm a bit fascinated with Time Manipulation, I did not really think much of it at first but I've seen what it can do and looking at it closer I'm starting to grasp just how good it actually is, and I'm interested in exploring it fully.

But I'm not sure what character to do it with, characters I've started is a Time/Ice Defender and two masterminds, one is robots/time and the other ninja/time.

I find myself switching between them a lot and I've been thinking about a ?/time corruptor as well.

I'm looking to make it sort of an all-around character that work well both solo and teaming.

Currently I'm leaning towards the time/ice defender, but I'm concerned it's damage might dissapoint me later on.

If you were to make an all around character with time manipulation, what would you make?

Demons: Ungodly damage in seldom-resisted damage types, near-capped AoE debuffs. So completely over-powered that if the pets weren't so huge and the noises so annoying, everybody and his dog would be playing them.

Robots: OK damage through level 31, insane AoE damage after that, nigh-unkillable.

Thugs: Excellent damage, okay survivability, and Gang War is fun and very useful, but the Bruiser's AI is moronic.

Zombies: Start out as total garbage, but get awesome once you get to level 32.

Mercs: OK survivability, excellent (if oft resisted) damage, really stupid AI problems. Also, Serum is the single stupidest power in the entire archetype.

Beasts: Nearly impossible to keep alive prior to level 26, damage is merely okay, would be dead last if the mastermind attacks weren't the best in the whole archetype.

Ninjas: God himself could not keep the genin alive, and getting decent damage out of Smoke Flash is chancy at best. Definitely the most difficult set to play.
What you said about necromancy is very interesting to me, especially that you put them so much higher then the ninjas, I've always thought they were about the same.

I'm currently playing a robotics/time character but I have to admit I'm not too fond of the concept, something magic based like necromacy/time appeals to me more. Would you say zombies past 32 work about as well as the robots?
  10. I really like this guy! Problem is... I have nothing I can do with him.

He'd make a perfect MM with soldier pets, but the mercenary set feels so painfully weak it's just not fun playing.

He'd also make a cool assault rifle/dual pistols user, but I can't play sets that have the redraw penalty.

  11. I've heard that the Netherworld is a place where the boob slider is locked at the smallest possible breasts and you can't move it
  12. We need shopping mall maps! We're in a huge city, where's the shopping malls!?
  13. Seeing that picture I feel sorry for him

Do we know how he lost his thingy?

This is SO true, I had the cutest fairie knight who flew around with the fairy wings costume piece using Titan Weapons.

Imagine my dissapointment when I got Arc of Destruction
  15. I am going to try a dark/earth dark seems to benefit from being close with Heart of Darkness, and earth assault is very melee focused, I can imagine Heart of Darkness + Tremor might be a nice combo!

I also like the look of earth assault when you make it look like crystals!

Survivable? Def is easy enough to build up. Fog provides some level of resists, throw Tough in there too. No native heals but Aid Self if that's required. Personally a couple of columns of greens suffices.

Melee damage? No, not sure why this matters unless you're fighting Hami yellows.

Crowd Control? Sleet's knockdown and other Cold effects to slow enemies keep them in Rain of Fire while they attempt to flee.

Team Contributions? In addition to the above, there are Cold shields for teammates and Arctic Fog's +def, +res and underrated slow resists.

Anyway, out of my 50s (which include many of those mentioned above, like bots/traps, ss/fire, or ill/rad (not mentioned yet, but someone will)), this is the one I regard as the most flexible and not as a "Jack of all trades, master of none", but rather a master of many trades.
How do you think fire/rad compares? I have one of those that I'm leveling up right now but I've been hearing such good things about fire/cold.. I'm guessing it might be a bit safer with a heal and AoE -tohit and -damage debuffs?
  17. I'm having a hard time deciding between time/ice or time/fire right now there's positive threads about both, how do they compare, and what the strenghts of them compared to the other?

I honestly don't see that as a reason to just stay silent. If anything this is an important time to bring this to light because they keep giving us more and more powersets with the redraw penalty without even giving people a warning about it.

If they can't fix it they should at least put warnings in those powerset descriptions

EDIT: And if this sounds like whining, they yes, i am indeed whining! But I think this is a valid thing to whine about

    Weapon Redraw

    A hundred times this.

The idea that several powersets have a very real game mechanical penalty built into them just because of their concept is completely absurd to me.

I stay away from redraw sets as much as i can, from time to time I will come up with an awesome concept for a character and play one anyway but I always drop it thinking... why do I have to deal with this penalty when other powersets can freely switch between their primary and secondary with no delay?

If you ever want to feel how real this penalty this, try a empathy/dual pistols defender, i dare you.

Yea, as I mentioned before my ninja/ff is still in her 20s but so far with the bubble shields, dispersion bubble and maneuvers even those Genins seem pretty darn survivable, even on larger teams. I've taken them trough both Posi and Synapse TFs with nothing but fun and awesomeness ... and as an added bonus my team mates become pretty survivable too

The real test is still ahead of me in the endgame of course, but I will continue the character to see how she does!
  21. I will now start using sweet sassy molassey in every day conversation.
  22. This thread is very interesting to me

But I have a question, how does it compare to a similarly built fire/time corruptor? and if it's superior, what about it makes time/fire defender a better choice then a fire/time corr?
  23. Broken_Wings

    The best?

A energy/storm corruptor named Knockback Man!
  24. I'm glad to see people having similar thoughts!

Oooh, that Imperial Dynasty hat would look so awesome on a carnie character, it drives me nuts.
  25. You can't use the carnival masks together with the new female imperial dynasty hat!

Come on, you have to be able to do that, it would be the coolest look ever!
