Nope. It's not even fun for tanks.
(At least, it wasn't for mine the one time I ran it with him. )

Anyway, put me firmly in the camp of "Never touching the damned thing again, no matter how the devs try to bribe me". Period. End of story. There's nothing that can be done to make that mess 'fun' as far as I'm concerned.
  2. 'Love the idea...

I think I'd rather have it as an emote, though.

    Meta-Changes

Not being able to drop Inspirations on a free player seems like a harsher limitation than we really need. You can give them to current Trial players, and that really comes in handy when you're showing a completely new player the ropes and trying to convince them that the game is fun.

They're going to jump into fights they can't handle.
    They're going to make mistakes.
They're going to go through their own supplies faster than they get them.

Sure, they can just hit the hospital... but it's much quicker to hand off an Awaken, and you don't have to worry about them making it back across the zone to the door.

    AT for an Angel

I'd say Tank, myself... It hits both the "butt-kicking" and "Guardian" points.
  5. The two plain robes from the Martial Arts pack, as well as all of the original non-tattered robe designs...

Every one of my bird-things has a "standard" outfit using those pieces, in some combination with other bits. That semi-historical, Asian-influenced look has become the norm for how I think of members of their particular species/culture dressing, and no matter how different any individual character's OTHER four outfits may be, it would seem odd to me for any of them to skip the 'standard issue' look completely.
  6. Even after runnng them both so many times (Easily in the hundreds. Most of my 50s are full Incarnates at this point-), I still enjoy BAF and Lambda. I really, honestly do... They're each fun in their own way, and Liberty's "usual suspects" are a pretty entertaining group of people to hang around with.

That said, I refuse to go anywhere near Keyes. I've tried it four times to date and not only did all four of those runs fail, all four of them were chaotic, annoying death-traps, even on the completely level-shifted, purpled-out character (with self-heal) that I know and play better than any other toon in my collection. It wasn't in any way, shape or form what I'd call "fun". It was a pain in the rear. I hated every minute of it.

Given that my play time is limited... Why the devil would I waste it running the one trial I hated instead of the two I enjoy?
  7. The GR edition comes with two extra character slot unlocks... This basic one doesn't seem to have that. So, a Prem account that started with the Rogue version ought to be able to have four playable characters all together instead of just two. That's the biggest difference I can see. The ins and outs of who gets access to Praetoria seem complicated, but I suspect they'll have that, too, right out of the gate instead of having to purchase it as an option.

(My own second account, which I plan on letting go Prem, started with a sale copy of the Going Rogue edition.)
  8. Excellent! *does the White Dwarf happy Taunt dance*
  9. #1... I have absolutely no intention of playing any of the new Stalker types on Live. Nothing about those options thrill me, I don't want stalkers of that type, and I so wouldn't be a fair judge of the sets as a result. I'd hate them no matter how they played.

#2... I already have a brute on Beta to test SJ, a Time Manip defender and a Dark/Dark blaster to deal with. Those are the combinations I do intend to play on live. I also moved copies of both of my Peacebringers over to test the changes to their AT. My time is finite and to be honest, I'd rather spend it on them.

#3... I'm not a min/maxer or a power player. (I *like* my Dual Blade stalkers, thank you very much. I wouldn't have three of the things at 50 if I didn't... <_<) So, even if I were interested in any of the new stalker varients, I wouldn't be number-crunching them. I don't play that way, and any feedback I had would be completely subjective, and thus completely useless.
  10. My best solo characters by far have been a Claws/WP scrap and a KinMelee/WP stalker... They've both been capable of taking just about anything the game's thrown at them with a little thought.

I can't really pick a favorite between them... The scrap's faster attacks and higher damage pretty much equal out with the stalker's different damage type, burst attacks and ability to stealth things if she needs to. It's hard to go wrong with either primary, and the WP secondary covers most of the important bases in a very non-intrusive, click-and-forget sort of way.

Mist, my own older PB, is human-primary and I tend to play him as sort-of an energy Scrap. At this point, he's a full Incarnate... Three slots at T3, two at T4. It wasn't all that difficult to do.

I honestly found the trials to be a lot of fun with him, since the level/composition of the spawns cut down on his KB a lot of the time. The Lambda warehouse is also one of the few places I've used Dwarf regularly. Mist has acted as his teams "tank" in there a number of times and did pretty well with it.

So, yeah. Do have a go at it. The Incarnate thing is perfectly do-able with a PB and Clarion Destiny is well worth the time investment. Polar Light Lore pets are also a lot of fun and a good FX match for our aliens.
  12. I'm afraid I'm a bit of a b---h about spoilers...

I'm perfectly willing to avoid discussing plot elements and "big secrets" for a few months after the material is released. That's reasonable and fair to the people who may go through content more slowly than I do... But damned if I'm going to keep quiet for much longer than that.

If something as been around for six months or longer, I feel like it's fair game. If you're late to the party and prone to getting bent out of shape over others discussing no-longer-new content thet you're unfamiliar with? Either avoid reading those conversations or just learn to deal with it. It's unreasonable to expect people avoid entire lines of discussion in perpetuity just because YOU haven't see something yet.

This game of ours is seven years old... Most of the content is far from being fresh, no matter when any particular player happened to join. When I started four-and-change years ago, I would never have even dreamed of telling older players they couldn't talk about this stuff. Pardon me for being blunt here, but Newbies who expect everyone else to avoid discussing the details of ancient content, or to spoiler-tag everything they might not have encountered yet, are being silly.

As someone else said, you don't include spoiler warnings when you're talking about Hamlet. I don't feel like we should have to include them for older game content, either.
  13. *snickering* Perfect... Horribly, horribly cruel to all those poor, male goons in the game... But still... Perfect.

Not to mention that in the "zone event" section of the tutorial the conditions aren't personal. Anyone makes a kill, everyone gets credit.

Besides, it's not like the tutorial is always going to be jam packed with people after the first month or so.
It's not a problem with the new tutorial, LL... It's the starting mission series in Atlas. Run through them on Beta and you'll see what the OP means, I suspect.

The contacts send you on open-world hunt-style missions in a specific area, which you often end up sharing with other players, rather than into instanced maps. I saw some mob-leading myself running through them yesterday afternoon, and have no trouble imagining how easy it would be for a higher level player to wipe out the mob spawns compltely to grief the lowbies.
  15. I'll miss being a bright little fuzz-ball... That was one of the things I really enjoyed about Light Form... But given everything else? I can deal with it.

Now, if they'll just change that that Solar Flare KB into KD...
  16. They still look a little too much like escapees from another game to me, in all honesty... But they're better then the first batch.
  17. Best male design? ... That's really a toss-up for me. I like Nemesis' design a lot, but the various aspects of Rularuu are also favorites.

I really don't think I can choose between them. They're equally interesting and distinctive from a visual point of view and also equally tell you pretty much exactly what you need to know about the characters in question.
  18. When I was first tinkering with the idea of my Rularuu bird-thing characters, I pretty much went through and dug up every mention and detail I could find in-game about the Shard and what happened there... I really wish I'd kept a bibliography of some sort, because the information is scattered all over the place. I know people love having sources to refer to, and I really wish I could could point them out...

Anyway, the Shard reality probably didn't start out looking like it does now. If you read the text from Faathim's TF it sounds like Lanaruu shattered it in an attempt to prevent Rularuu from reforming and pulling all of the fragmented personalities back under his influence.

I've always read the natives' statements about Paragon City and remembering heroes and all that not as references to Primal Earth, but as memories of their own world's versions of those things.

IIRC, the dimension itself already existed as yet another "alternate Earth"... The Midnighters just used that reality to trap Rularuu, they didn't create a whole new one for that purpose. (Something they did it without any particular consideration to what would happen TO that universe, it should be noted. It sounds like it never occurred to them that that dimension would have people of its own, or that tossing an angry, fractured god in there might just turn out to be a Very Bad Thing for them.)

Primal Midnighters: "Yay! We saved the world!"

Shard Humans: "Heh. Yeah... By shirking these monsters off on us. Thanks a lot guys. We're going to have Such Fun with all these floating eyeballs. <_<"

    Primal Midnighters: " ... Crap."
  20. I would seriously start to wonder when Paragon had been taken over by the marketing staff of Gaia Online. <_<

  23. Hee... I forgot all about Eddie. He's another fun one.

I like his over-all look a lot better than Desdemona's... Although I'm also fully aware that I'm not exactly part of the target audience Dezzie's look was designed to appeal to.

Agreed on all of that... Scir just looks like a guy who's been through a lot, and came out showing the scars. Which is pretty much exactly as it ought to be, I think.
  25. I actually like Recluse and all four of the Patrons... As mentioned by other people up-thread, Ghost Window in particular has an interesting design. Mirror Spirit is another good one, and I pretty much adore the various Aspects of Rularuu. Very spiffy guys, those. Nemesis and the Clockwork King also make me grin. 'Love them both.

There are others that I really dislike the look of, though... Mynx's outfit is just several shades of ugly. Swan's costume barely counts as a costume (Although even she's way ahead of our player characters when it comes to having anything "feathery" bits-wise to work with- <_<) and Sister Psyche could use a higer resolution make-over.
