Is that a brand new power? We have no idea, and I havent heard anything to suggest it is. If it is, then you're right, this suggestion is moot.
My idea was to purely grab one more power out of out given options to add to our builds. Really, I have a few builds Id want even more powers just for concept.
However, I figure to many powers would break it. One more power not so much.
For instance, there are a few builds purely for concept, I wish I could take all 5 Epic powers. I can't. This would change that.
Now if Incarnate levels allow this, then yup, again, my suggestion is nothing. But I haven't seen anything mentioned on it, for this to be the case. So suggestion made.

Quote:Hmmm...maybe I didn't make it clear.I'm unsure of what you are saying.
Are you saying that fighting Reichsman is similar to fighting 10,000 Lts?
Or are you saying that fighting Reichsman is dissimilar to fighting 10,000 Lts?
Everyone is saying it takes to long to beat Reichs. It's not fun because they have to smash away at buttons for so long.
Well, that's what you're doing anyways, when you run missions. Smashing away at buttons.
The only difference is, that you're going with mass defeats versus one hard defeat.
You're doing the same amount of button smashing in 30mins of missioning, that you are in 30mins of beating on one target. Which as the stamina threads show, is what people want to do...keep on smashing non stop.
So, were's the difference? It's not in the button smashing. It's in the WE DEFEATED THE ENEMY/ENEMIES! -
Quote:Sure it does. Do you have the stamina as a player to keep fighting?Tediously hitting the same large sack of hit points for an extended period of time doesn't equate to challenge.
There can be 0 risk of actually dying - and on most teams I've done a Khan TF with, that was very close to the case - and it can still be boring as heck. Think of the computer in the ITF as a comparable case, only Reichsman has more hit points and doesn't even have the benefit of going over the aggro cap to possibly worry squishies. It's not a barrier of difficulty as much as a barrier of patience.
And really. I don't see the problem. You're going mission to mission hitting the same keys over and over that you are when you face Reichs.
The difference is, you're not taking him out as quicly.
If you have 100,000 LTs Rank enemies around, you go "FUN!" becaus eyou clicking your buttons and watching them die.
If you have 1 opponent that is equal to 100,000 Lt Rank enemies around, you go "Boring" because...you're hitting the same buttons over and over again that you would on 100,000 LTs? o.O -
I know I can't be the only one who's thought "If I could just grab one more power and slot it!"
So, I was thinking, how would one make this fair? Vet rewards are out since it wouldn't be within the first year. I think anything within the first year is perfectly reasonable to be "OMG POWERFUL"
IE...if the skip travel preq was within the first year as a reward, I think there would have been less complaints about it, even if I find most people still grab the preq anyways.
Then it dawned on me.
A NEW TF/SF! Either one on each side, or a Co-Op! Level 50 only! Reward Merits or a 1 time only option (like a respec trial).
More power!
Pick one unselected power from your Primary/Secondary/Pool/Epic and you get that power with 6 slots.
OR
Pick one power, and then maybe you have to slot out that one power power by repeating the TF untill it's slotted.
So, first time Option is Merits or New Power (1 slot)
Then you do it the second time, you get the option of Merits and 1 slot in New Power, which it automatically slots.
Then once it's slotted out fully, you only have the option of Merits.
...either way sounds fair. And none of it seems to game breaking to me. It's even a way for someone to grab all 5 Epic Powers if they want all 5 of them.
And seeing as how anyone can access this, it wouldn't disadvantage the new player.
Thoughts? -
I wouldn't say there are no alternate Recluses.
I'd say that of the dimensions/timelines we've been able to explore in game, they just didn't have an alternate Recluse.
There are countless possibilities, and we're limited to what the writers come up with is all.

Quote:But that has the same spelling.I can't name a character Thor either, even though Marvel does NOT have the name copyrighted. They have the character's appearance trademarked, but they can not copyright the name due to it having been in public domain for, oh, 1,200 years or so.
But when I tried to create Thor as an AE character (I wrote a story about Ragnarok happening in Paraon City), it came up as unavailable because of it's association with Marvel Comics, even though they have zero claim on the name.
Oddly enough, Odin, Loki, Heimdall, Tyr, Baldur, and a number of other Norse gods were available, even though Marvel has versions of all of them.
Magic and Magik are two different spellings.
You can't make Thor. But you could make Thur or Thore. -
Quote:I had thought of this. But that starts with a K. And Magic is so broadterm, I doubt it could be an issue.Magik (Illyana Nikolievna Rasputina - typically anglicized to Rasputin) is a Marvel Comics character, associated with the X-Men. She is the younger sister of the Russian X-Man Colossus.
Tho I admit I can't think of a reason the other origins are unavailable. -
Quote:But they're just the name of the origins. Why can't others use them as a name of a hero/villain?Many names used by the developers are blocked off by the developers.
In this case, you are querying specific origins in the game, as well as potential server names.
As far as I'm aware, the developers have made public the criteria for the list of names that they have blocked out for their use and for the game's internal use.
It just seems to be limiting on names for toons, when I don't see the reason to. Or is it a technical reason? -
...now I'm sure SOMEONE would've snatched up these names awhile ago. But there I was trying to find a name that fit another players toon. So, I thought...hmmm
Magic
.../friend -ed it, and low and behold no one is using the name! I figure what a break. Someone must've just released it.
Double check in the new character screen...UNAVAILABLE!
WHAT THE?!
So I go in and check around, and the name isn't taken by anyone.
And I'm trying to think...why would this be unavailable?
So, I do some more searching...ALL THE ORIGIN names are unavailable!
Magic, Science, Mutation, Technology, Natural AND even Mutant.
Okay, why were these names made unavilable? Sure, if they were available, someone would of beaten me to them for sure. But here are 6 names, I can't for the life of me figure out why they would be unavailable.
Is it a tech issue?
Even Valiant is unavailable.

Quote:Wanting CoX to be more like a comic book, is not a problem. It's how CoH sold itself.Wanting CoX to be more like a comic book, that there is the crux of the problem. You want the game to be something it's not, and then bring up perceived issues with the game because that's "not how they do it in the comic books." We have endurance because it's part of how most MMOs operate, because we need some type of limiter. Otherwise we would just wait for our powers to recharge and spam them indefinitely. Likewise, there's problem a good reason why we can't perfectly recreate comic book heroes.
They'd be overpowered. If you could make a character that has offense and defense of Superman, that would certainly not be balanced.
As for offense & defense, I think where that comes into play is Scrappers really.
Other ATs can come close...but they lack of mez protection or rather that chaining of mez effects is likely what kills it for some people.
-
Quote:To go on with what Werner said here. I've leveled up quite a few DBers.OK, for 300-350 million, you can't run the top chains, as they require massive recharge approaching +300%. But for only +128% recharge in Blinding Feint, you can easily run the very good chain of Blinding Feint -> Attack Vitals Combo (Ablating Strike, Vengeful Slice, Sweeping Strike). So you need at least four attacks from your primary. Some people also like to take the Sweep combination. I personally wouldn't, but I'm an attack chain minimalist. Since your required recharge is so low, and since you have Quickness, you'll need very little in the way of global recharge bonuses, and you won't need Hasten.
I agree with Streetcleaner's basic plan for Super Reflexes - Combat Jumping, Tough and Weave, Steadfast Protection unique. Consider Manuevers and Tactics with a Gaussian set. Or just pick up a bunch of set bonuses. You're shooting for 45% defense to all positions, maybe 46%.
One, I know a lot of people like to go "Oooo...COMBOS" really, if you want to save on respecs, just skip Nimble Slash, and just wait to get your first combo (Attack vitals) at lvl 26.
Whether or not to grab Sweep is a different question. Personally, I grab Bling Feint, Attack Vitals attacks, and TRY to fit in Typhoon's Edge because I love the animation.
That said, I don't care for 1k Cuts animation at all. So makes it easy to skip.
Being /SR even easier for you to get to the BF-AV-Repeat attack chain. I'd also suggest getting the -Resist Proc for Alabating Strike.
5 Slot Hecatomb or Crushing Impact in it.
DB/SR I found easy enough to softcap cheaply and get +RCH sets easy enough as well.
Personally I love Dual Blades (except on Stalkers). Now only if I could make it a decent PvP Primary. -
Quote:I'm going to assume Elec/Elec/Fire is concept. And will stick with that. You also said one on one Arena Duel. Sooo...This is what I'm currently thinking. Can trick it out with a few purples, of course. Anyone have any thoughts or corrections/modifications to offer? Like I said, I'm going for some 1v1 arena utility, in that regard I'm not sure the defense is the best way to go. Ideas are appreciated!
Click this DataLink to open the build!
Lose Lightning Field. It'll just get detoggled. Lose Boxing/Tough. Tough just gets DRed in PvP anyways.
Fireball is AOE, so lower damage, lose it as well.
Fit in Phase Shift and Leadership for Assault & Tactics.
Slot up Char, you need a good mez to use.
Set bonuses go for +RCH/+HP. -
Quote:Okay...I want you to look at the list of powers out there. This is not about my dislike of Dominators and my refusal to play them. It is about the low quality of 3 sets and an ATs inherent and the devs slow response time to fix these sets.
What you think of me is irrelevant. I can know almost nothing about the game outside the power sets I listed and still it would not change the fact what EM , FA and EA are all underperforming. I have stated the general ideas of why they suck, especially EM and FA. I have not explained the general problem with EA's mitigation in this thread but I have before and others have done before me. Now if you expect me to do extensive research as I have seen you do then you will be disappointed.
You lost sight of what is important. And from what I have seen , you arent to fond of playing Tankers so I find it likely you would agree that Tankers should have a better inherent or something at least.
PS: No crap high base damage helps every encounter.
Look at them.
Out of that WHOLE LIST OF POWER SETS, you think theres only a problem with THREE OF THEM. And out of 14 ATs, only one needs to have it's Inherent looked at.
And you say the devs are slow to fix these things, when they also have other content they're working on? o.O -
Quote:Scrapper for you, Blaster for her...toss in some IOs for survivability, fit in Confront for the AVs...go to town!My partner and I are looking to start a new duo of characters. Only we're not at all sure what to try out. We'd like characters that are fun to play together more than anything, but are hoping to have something that also will allow us to take down AVs and mow critters down at near max difficulty.
I like melee types, Tanks, Brutes, Scrappers mainly. I'm not fond of Stalkers though. I can easily get behind a Blaster or Corruptor. I also really like the Dark sets.
She likes Blasters, Controllers, Scrappers and Corruptors. Not at all fond of MMs and Tankers. A huge fan of Mind Control and also likes Dark.
We both like VEATS and Kheldians but neither of us have much experience with them. We're also willing to combine hero ATs with villain ATs since Going Rogue is coming up.
Any suggestions?
If redside Brute/Corr duo.
Though if Brute/Corr duo is okay, then a Scrapper/Defender duo should be just as okay (Defenders did get that damage buff, so she'd be doing 20% more damage than compared to a full team). -
Quote:You know I understand this PoV. I never said I didn't.I understand that this thread is about SGRP but I hope nobody minds a bit of my internal RP as a bit of a threadjack.
I have several villain characters. My main is a claws/regen that has soloed to 45. He is a science robot that thought he had killed his creator. It turns out that his creator's body was on the ground in front of him because that's what happened when he transferred his mind to his creation.
As far as "killing" goes. My char kills his enemies. He's using claws. Claws tear people up. He does not allow any of his targets to have a chance to teleport back to any hospital before he turns their brains to mush.
As far as I'm concerned my char is a true killing machine. The concept of anyone returning alive is ridiculous. If they teleport, they teleport and are DOA no chance of recovery.
I understand that this is not the consensus amongst COX players, but it's my game cash, my RP.
Sorry for the derail.
Though I do question it.
Why wouldn't the Claws/Regen (assuming hero since I never got the feeling you couldn't be off killing in RI) be stopped by the Longbow, Freedom Phalanx (who you likely talked to at some point) and how did he get a hero license to access the mediport system?
And why is the idea of anyone returning alive ridiculous, when we have such powers as Ressurection?
Target is dead. Target is now ressurected!
That's kinda as silly as enemy groups jailing you, but never taking away your weapons or putting your powers on inhibitors, or just outright killing you themselves.
I freely admit to handwaving content (I really wish I didnt have to, but I just don't see 100,000 heroes all rescuing Statesman from Tyrant or discovering and killing Honoree).
I figure it's just more of a RP within the group you know type of deal.

Quote:I'll tell you why slotting for defense isn't a bad thing.I haven't played an ElA scrapper yet but I do have 2 lvl 50 ElA brutes and there shouldn't be much difference. I'd say ElA is a very good set, and has a lot of potential for high-end slotting. You can get permahaste or close to it, about 20% defense vs all positions or up to 30% vs one position but about 15% or less vs others and 20-40 HP/s regeneration with Energize on (which will be close to perma) all on the same build without expensive purples (but with LoTGs). The specific values will depend on your primary, pool picks and your specific slotting.
That's slotting it offensively, which I greatly prefer over slotting it defensively (and I really have no idea why would anyone want to defensively slot a set with no inherent defense, no DDR and so much powers that benefit from offensive slotting).
Slotting for defense allows you to get in have attacks miss you while your resists absorb those that get through, get off a Power Sink, heal if needed, attack, let off another Power Sink, enemies drained, with Lighting Field keeping them low on end, finish them off and keep on going.
Currently at lvl 25 on my DB/ELA and loving it. But I haven't actually made a build yet. Currently just picking powers as I go, because I havent made a build yet
Still, loving it, and having fun not seeing many other ELA Scrappers out there.
I really think ELA can be turned into a beast. It's my goal to make that happen. -
Does Energy Melee need tweaking? IMO...YES! I truely think it'll be checked out again when it gets ported over to scrappers.
Do I want to see it become more AOE centric. Personally? NO! I think sets like Energy Melee and Martial Arts should be the top single target DPS machines out there. Why? Because they're that much focused on Single Target! Dark Melee at least has it's utility.
Energy Aura. I agree! Still needs some tweaks. However, I don't think it's nearly as bad as you make it out to be. It's a set that's not that hard to soft cap with a little power investment/IO investment.
What would I do? I'd turn Conserve Power be turned into a END RED/+RES (All But Psi) power style power. I still think this is the best suggestion so far.
Give Kinetic/Power/Entropy Shield each 20% Unenhancable Energy Resist (it just bothers me that much that Energy Shield doesn't laugh off Energy attacks even more).
Power Drain. Personally. I don't see the problem. Super Reflexes doesn't have a heal at all when up against a single target. EA at least gets a small heal with a +END power that drains the enemy.
Do what Shielders do...9 enemies + AV = 50%ish (no damage to fuel) heal...since they're likely to be drained of energy, they're (the 9 extra minions) not hitting much, combined with your soft capped defenses.
I imagine this set will get more attention when ported around as well.
Okay first off, Dominators kick butt! It's just how it is. I don't even feel the need to IO for defenses on my DOM! That's how much Doms kick butt! Do I still think I need that Mez Protection? Yup! That's why I'm going for Perma Dom! More Mag on the Mez to keep enemies locked down and +END more often.
You seriously need to go back and play one before you make any comments. I felt this way pretty quick on my new doms since the change.
As for tankers, I'm going to tell you a secret. Scrapper may beable to get up to tanker level of defenses, but they only get up close, they don't get all the way up there. Tankers are still more survivable than Scrappers. And a scrapper will never hold aggro as well as a Tanker (holding it on single target doesn't count btw as there's more to holding aggro than just AVs).
What to do for a Tanker? Hmmm...really...in my experience with Tankers, I'd just be happy with a slight shift in the damage mod. Up to .85 might make a noticeable difference. *shrug* Survivability was never the issue, it was damage. :/ But they give up damage for the survivability.
A thought for Inherent however is this. Seeing as Brutes have a version of Gauntlet, how about give Tankers a version of Fury. Cap it for less +DMG, and only make it for enemies that the Tanker attacks (ie...no fury for being attacked, only for attacking). Treat it like Superman vs Apokalipse. He can take off the kids gloves.
On a team, they don't have to worry about damage as much. Solo, they'd have to keep going and going or lose the +DMG, because they stopped attacking, plus they'd be limited by their END as well. Just an idea.
I also like Billz suggestion of putting Brutes (thusly lower) and Scrappers (thusly raising) resistance caps at 80% (MAYBE Stalkers too...I don't know...they're melee...but they're squishy melee). Let Tankers being the Resistance Kings/Queens at 90%.
As Billz said, Castle said he is looking at it. So another wait and see.
And no. The reason you don't play this game, is because you see problems that really aren't all that!
You don't like your, what I can only guess, is your MAIN TOON, feeling so weak. Roll another. IO them out.
It's already been proven, you can make any melee set AWESOM with IOs. So you IOing out a Fire Armor, isn't going to be building on a crumbling foundation. You IOing out a Fire Armor, is you building on a foundation that everyone knows will somehow get even better.
When? That's the question. EA and FA where you're two concerns, and I can't help but think everyone knows they're going to see some loving. It's just a matter of when.
And Fire Armor isn't at the top of the OMG BEST list? If that's the problem. Remember one thing. One of the sets is going to come in at the top and one is going to come in at the bottom the goal is to not have the bottom set that FAR at the bottom.
If you only play the things you mentioned. Then maybe, this game isn't for you? I'm not saying don't try to get things buffed/nerfed that you think need it. But with the way you wrote your post, I get the feeling you wont be happy untill SO AND SO powerset is NUMBER ONE because that's the one you play and that's why you don't play often and every other set should be inferior, so your favorite set is better than the rest. -
Quote:I had a DM/Regen scrapper doing just fine without Stamina. As soon as end gets tight?
So level 3 then?
How many non-MM, non-hit-and-run stalkers, do you have without them?
But as it's been said. It's not that you have to have Stamina. It's that everyone wants to play non-stop. So, they take the powers that they need to play in such a way.
Personally, I see it as fitting my concepts. They're heroes/villains who do lots of activity. They're fit.
Maybe that's what you're wanting. A fit hero/villain without it have to actually work on the fitness?
In that case...make a Regen. Grab some IOs.
Build an Electric Armor or a Kin...so many ways to do it. -
Quote:Wrong. Two people can share the exact same enviorment and come out two totally different people. All Marcus Coles we've been introduced to have been mercenaries. By definition. Don't add conotation to the word.
Even if you don't accept the idea of divergent reality, which is stupid, you are forced to assume that most if not all of the history was exactly the same. Especially all major events and people, save for those stated be different and those proceding after that point.
If you want to say "it's fiction" stop. You have no more reason to post. You have nothing to add. Everyone gets that it is fiction and you can do anything in it. However, fiction that works on the princple "it's fiction so i can do whatever" is almost universally panned. Guess why.
And AGAIN I never said all Coles were inherently "good". They all Share the exact same environment for most of his life which would produce, the exact same person or close to.
For everything good that was done to Marcus Cole in one reality, that turned him into Statesman, could have just as easily had the other Marcus Cole feeling trapped and/or angry.
They both could of had the exact same things happen to them and one thought "I should go with plan A" while the other thought "I should go with plan B" -
Quote:Let me get this straight, you can believe that epople can fly, run at incredible speeds, shoot lasers from their eyes...ect...ect...Why do people think using a lot of words to say the same thing is going to change someone's opinion? You just said "It's a comic" again and that doesn't refute what I said. Congratulations on being wrong and unable to read.
...but you find it hard to believe, that some how, all these people couldn't still meet up together under different circumstances?
...
There, does that make it better?
Somehow Marcus Cole (Reichsman) found his way into exsistence despite growing up totally different than Marcus Cole (Statesman).
The odds of it happening are ASTRONOMICAL! Good thing one can easily assume there are an infinite amount of worlds out there, and an infinite amount of possibilities.
Or another theory if you like...time flows, it splinters off into different realities, but after awhile they all find their way to merge back at one single point in time and splinter off again. -
Just thoughts here...
1) Increase Elusivity (sp?)...maybe not to the levels it was before, but better than it is now
2) Get rid of the power reduction that happens when you enter a PvP zone.
3) Get rid of detoggling period. Just have it suppress like the other toggles.
4) Give back a bit of the mez protection one should have to begin with when melee.
That seems like a good start imo.
Mind you I PvP for fun, and these are just things that bother me. -
Quote:I'm going to show you were your logic fails.je_saist, I already explained why one must assume that the history is exactly the same up until that point. If you disagree wit that provide an argument against that instead of just saying "NU HUH!!!!"
Also learn to read. None of what i said makes the assumption that Cole is inherently good. What i said is it goes against the established of his past and his MO that is derived from his path.
It's pretty obvious you don't understand cause and effect and how it works and you are still wrong.
You're tyring to use real world thinking in a COMIC BOOK INSPIRED GAME.
Have you read comic books at all?
You get the same characters all the time, who somehow all met up, but are totally different.
It's called...COMIC BOOK SCIENCE.
Let me get this straight, you can believe that epople can fly, run at incredible speeds, shoot lasers from their eyes...ect...ect...
