Elec armor

Not seeing alot of mention for this armor set and was wondering if there was a particular reason. It looks decent on paper with some recharge, but, again, paper is paper. Anyone have some builds to throw out and show what they've done with it?

It's a good set. The resistance sets (elec and fire), and even Regen, are currently slightly out of fashion with the soft-cap craze.

I haven't played an ElA scrapper yet but I do have 2 lvl 50 ElA brutes and there shouldn't be much difference. I'd say ElA is a very good set, and has a lot of potential for high-end slotting. You can get permahaste or close to it, about 20% defense vs all positions or up to 30% vs one position but about 15% or less vs others and 20-40 HP/s regeneration with Energize on (which will be close to perma) all on the same build without expensive purples (but with LoTGs). The specific values will depend on your primary, pool picks and your specific slotting.

That's slotting it offensively, which I greatly prefer over slotting it defensively (and I really have no idea why would anyone want to defensively slot a set with no inherent defense, no DDR and so much powers that benefit from offensive slotting).

Here are two builds that I considered at some point with my ElA brutes:

Those are both really interesting. I'm wondering if there's any kind of baseline for elec/elec/fire as a PVP build. And granted, it's not optimal, but, would it be at least a bit successful? The only though I have really is concentrating on recharge and trying to maximize the use of the heal. In addition to enddrain, of course.

I suspect you'll see more of Electric Armor over the next few months. Even the soft-cap crowd can play, and probably with a practical build if they go with Katana or Broad Sword. I want to make a Katana/Electric myself, though I already have a couple things I'm leveling, so I'm not sure if I want another one at the moment.

I am going for a DPS over survivability route with my new and shiney Kat/ElA. He's level 4, so young. After seeing some builds from others and tooling around with it, I don't see it being as survivable as Kat/DA, but it should be fun and not have end issues to worry about.

I think reasons you haven't seen too much of elec armor include the Shield Defense craze, and memories of pre-energize days when the set was pretty poor. I think it's coming on now as people realize they can have their cake and eat it too - defensive set bonuses to layer with the armor resists and the fast healing of perma energize, while still having the high damage, fast attack toon that gets to ignore the blue bar.

And when you put it that way, it sounds like a winning combination, now doesn't it?

I was thinking going Elec/Elec/Fire but I can't quiet figure out how to get the build optimized at all; anyone out there have some good ideas? I would post a build, but, honestly; I have no clue what to take and what to leave out in the least. Was mostly thinking about doing this as a missioning/arena 1v1, but, I'm lost at this point.
Edit: Then again dark/elec/fire looks pretty damn sexy too

I'll tell you why slotting for defense isn't a bad thing.

Slotting for defense allows you to get in have attacks miss you while your resists absorb those that get through, get off a Power Sink, heal if needed, attack, let off another Power Sink, enemies drained, with Lighting Field keeping them low on end, finish them off and keep on going.

Currently at lvl 25 on my DB/ELA and loving it. But I haven't actually made a build yet. Currently just picking powers as I go, because I havent made a build yet Still, loving it, and having fun not seeing many other ELA Scrappers out there.

I really think ELA can be turned into a beast. It's my goal to make that happen.

Currently leveling a Fire/Elec and it's been good so far. Not sure if I want to go the defense set bonus route or aim for +hp and regen though.

I'm in the same boat as BrandX, the more and more I look at the set the more I think it looks amazing. Just a question of how to optimize it. Which is really subjective.

I have a level 50 Ele/ElA and a lvl 50 Kat/ElA and they are both great in their own respects.

The lvl 50 Ele/ElA is at 38hp/sec with nearly perma Energize, 37.88% smash/lethal defense and about 35% melee defense. It's great fun for AoE, and can handle +4/8 missions with grace.

The Kat/ElA is softcapped to lethal and Melee damage with 1 application of DA. If I can avoid the need to softcap, I can do the GD>GC>SD>GC combo for some serious DPS. With a self heal, higher regen and that kind of defense, its a great combo. I have quite a few AVs under my belt already. Here's my current build, can squeeze some more recharge out later if I want to get some purple stun IOs.

Sure. You may want different powers then I took, but I enjoy this build a lot if I just want to cause destruction all over the place!

I'm just looking for a few reference points to build from, thanks a bunch!

This is what I'm currently thinking. Can trick it out with a few purples, of course. Anyone have any thoughts or corrections/modifications to offer? Like I said, I'm going for some 1v1 arena utility, in that regard I'm not sure the defense is the best way to go. Ideas are appreciated!

I made a couple tweeks to get you 4.5% more smash/lethal def and 5% more melee defense. Plus it gets you a proc into Jacobs Ladder for some more damage.

Also if you wanted to, you could drop 4 slots off of Fire Blast, put 3 into Char for the Basilik's Gaze set and get the 7.5% recharge, and maybe throw another slot in Health for a miracle/regen tissue proc, or a slot in stamina for 2.5% more damage in Perf Shift set.

I'm going to assume Elec/Elec/Fire is concept. And will stick with that. You also said one on one Arena Duel. Sooo...

Lose Lightning Field. It'll just get detoggled. Lose Boxing/Tough. Tough just gets DRed in PvP anyways.

Fireball is AOE, so lower damage, lose it as well.

Fit in Phase Shift and Leadership for Assault & Tactics.

Slot up Char, you need a good mez to use.

Set bonuses go for +RCH/+HP.
