    Or is Bruising mutually exclusive?

Cause if Bruising is exclusive if need be the same can be applied to any debuffs added to AS.
Only one effect of Bruising per target. Though, 8 tankers on one target means the target is more likely to stay bruised (if they're using the tier 1 attack of course).

Unless, I'm remembering how Bruising works wrong.

I really don't see the need for more debuff or team buff with Stalkers. It makes for a different look I guess, but the majority of people look for damage really, when it comes to melee in my experience.
  2. Seeing as how you have a Defender/Brute duo right now. I'm going to assume you both have GR.

If your friend wants to go with a Tank, I say go for it.

Plenty of Tank combos to go with, that will deal enough damage. With the exception of my Fire/Fire tanker, I really found I didn't care who I duoed with, as long as I didn't solo on my tanker.

You're duoing, so really content isn't the problem. The problem will be at what you consider an acceptable missioning speed.

And if your friend decides on a tankish Brute, you're just as set.

    My suggestion...go with a Fire/ Corrutor.

You'll bring more damage no matter which route you go with.

For Secondary for the corr. it depends on your play style and if you two ever team with others for TFs or not.

Kinetics may be the right choice. You have the aggro management in your partner, and with just one person, SBing isn't bad at all.

However, if you team, you might not care for the "SB NAO!" "SB PLZ!" ect ect that will likely happen.

If you can handle that, I'd suggest Fire/Kin.

However, there is some benefit of going Fire/Sonic Corr. If your partner has some decent AOE capabilities (no idea on the combo your partner is looking at), you can keep your partner shielded (crank up that difficulty), while having a -Resist AOE toggle going for both of your AOEs.

Shielding every 4 minutes, even on a team of 8, isn't bad (though I think SBing every 2 mins is). You also get the benefit of a bit of mez protection yourself.

If your friend goes with a Resist oriented Tanker, Cold Domination may be the better choices, especially if you two ever team up with others.

Cold Domination is, imo, the best debuff/buff Power set, and it's a shame I don't see more of them.

Well, I don't see the Praetorian Epics turning out this way.

And really, I don't think they'd have any new AT be paid for, outside of a possible new expansion box set.

But if they made the Ranged/Armor AT that way, I'd spend the money to get access to it, and do it happily.

    *edit*

That could be the gimmick of the new AT, two half-size primary attack pools (ranged and melee) that you can combine in different ways.
If I get to keep Executioner Shot, Dual Wield, and Hail of Bullets in the Assault set, and an Epic with everything else missing from Dual Pistols (okay I can forgo the mez attack >_>) I don't care how they do it

And I'd pay for the AT.

They did seem to be having fun with the movie. And I personally didn't get bored with the movie at any point, going "okay speed this up now"

  7. Put procs into those attacks for more damage!
  8. You know...what we need is a super booster that gives a Ranged/Armor AT!

9.99 gives you access to the AT!

It's even better, because those who don't like the idea of the AT don't have to purchase it!
  9. Watched it. Enjoyed it!

Won't go into any spoilers. However I will say, no need to stay untill the end of credits!

Also, consistency. Shouldn't all the tutorial messages show up in the exact same fashion?
Oh okay. Maybe see if they can have the pop-ups like those pop up off to the side, instead of the center of the screen.

Or, if you move the first one to the side, then they all pop up there.

Eh, never had a problem with those, hated the pop up helps though...they just kept popping up to much! grrrr...I know already! I know!

And Tylerst, it was not just a thread of "Oh, I don't like this, let's rant." What it was intended to be (before I got accused of asking for a nerf) was a clarification on why a balance of ATs seemed to not do it's job, and I was asking to be told what it was I was missing, and if there was nothing wrong with what I had thought, then I offered an idea on ways to fix it without causing any major changes (or any changes, really) in how people play their brutes/scrappers. And the first few posts were very helpful and pointed out what I asked for, and it now makes sense to me, unlike the several other posts that followed.
I thought the balance did do the job.

Scrappers are less survivable but dish out more damage.

Brutes do less damage but are more survivable.

In a team setting, while I think it was shown the Scrapper will tend to do more damage at the damage cap, than a Brute will at their damage cap, due to crits...lets assume that's not always true for a second...one has to remember, it's a team setting.

So...Brutes are more buffable on teams. Not to big a deal really. If a Brute is buffed up that much, and a stalker is buffed up that much, the team is usually in the WIN category anyways.

And when a team gets that much buffage, I find melee tend to take a backseat...6 good Corrs and 2 melee toons, usually make the 2 melee toons look like they're just taking up space.

I don't think I'd try it with Dark Armor, Electric Armor or Fiery Aura. Well, if I had one, I'd try it, but I wouldn't specifically start one or build one for it.

Since you already have a Dual Blades/Regen, if you want to stick with Dual Blades, you could certainly go after AVs with that, unless you just want to start something new. That one depends a lot on budget, though, since you want buckets of recharge. I suspect that 30% melee, Shadow Meld, and all of Regen's tricks at a high recharge would get the job done. Broad Sword/Willpower could probably pull it off at a much lower budget point if you want to consider that. But Dual Blades probably has more of the AoE goodness if you're trying to make a general-purpose toon instead of a dedicated AV soloer. And who makes dedicated AV soloers any more?
For AV soloing, I'm not going to say every AV can be soloed. However, from a survivability standpoint, and a DPS stand point, I really can't see Dual Blades/PICK A SECONDARY, not being able to do so.

Yes, you'll have to focus on specific IO set bonuses, but BF - AV - Repeat is a pretty solid, not to hard to obtain DPS chain, and a what other sets lack in the DEF compartment, can usually be made up enough with IOs to have it stack nicely with their other defenses.

Mind you, this is also likely to limit your AOE aility of Dual Blades, as it would likely require you to rely on BF - Attack Vitals, as you need to use other powers to fill in the defenses.

If you're looking to dish out the most possible damage you can...Spines/Fire Armor beats out Spines/Dark Armor.

If you're looking for better survivability, Spines/Dark Armor wins.

[edit] As to answer the question...what's the difference in damage output. A LOT!

Damage and a bit of survivability really, with the added survivability being the minor part.

One of the things I've found, is people would just rather have a Brute or Scrapper, because they bring more damage and survive better.

If Stalkers had the better damage, I think people would over look the survivability issues on teams, but in most cases, Stalkers are just being out done in damage, and since they're bringing less damage, why not go for the more damage better survival.

Now this isn't saying there arent great players of stalkers who make you look at that above comment and go "pffft" but a general statement.

I don't know. My very first brute was a DM/FA. Loved the combo, and it only got abandoned and deleted because at the time, my computer at that time could not handle redside (maybe I should remake...hmmm).

However, I'm side tracking, my point is Dark Melee (to me) felt less "SMASH SMASH", and more "smoosh smoosh grab and tickle" Good combo, but lacking the power one feels from other melee sets (if that makes sense to anyone else).

I've thought about either a em/wp or ele/sd brute but, then I thought maybe a fire/regen scrapper I'm just trying to think of the most versatile melee toon to handle all of those badges.
Fire/Regen Scrapper seems to be good at all those things listed.

    PvP? Check!
Take out the AVs in the story arcs? Check!
    Exploration? Check!

The only badges it couldn't do on it's own, are team specific challenges (which includes some PvP and some PvE badges) and GM badges (this may include the AVs in RV).

  20. Wow, really?

Okay, let me get this straight, people complain and complain about 3D, then they go see one of the worst possible movies ever in 3D, and make it #1 at the box office?

  21. Not to mention the special effects needed to make it as good as the viewers expect it to be.

Look at heroes. I'd say one of it's biggest let downs was people wanting to see a super powered fight at the end of season 1.

What did they get. A few lights, then some noises behind a door. Which, I think they were expecting for most of the season, but not on the last episode of the season.

Now some superheroes can work into not needing that, but a live action JLA or X-Men show, would really be limited in what they could do.

Interresting enough I do not see this being the case in Idaho.

On a recent road trip I took to Colorado however, I did see this was the case of Colorado, Wyoming and Utah.

However, not once through Idaho, have I ever seen a sign or been told of a law that the left lane is for passing.

In fact, when I went Colorado, I had thought the slow traffic to the right, meant if I was speeding (which really, I find going 5 - 10 miles over the speed limit when I'm on the freeway, I'm usually always going faster than everyone else), stay in the left lane.

Little did I know, I was suppossed to switch back to the right lane when traffic was clear.

And the paying attention part to catch a tailgater is false. As there have been plenty of times I've looked up into the rear view mirror, seen no one behind me, only to look a minute later and there's someone riding my bumper.

Which wouldn't be bad, but then I find most like that, slow down as soon as you chnage lanes, then get passed by the person they were tailgating.

Basically, tailgaters are just crappy drivers.
  24. You know you can disable those pop-ups in the options menu, right?

    Those just became less annoying.

And I only recall contact pop ups, popping up when you train, not while in the middle of fighting. Unless you're training while fighting, inwhich case, I'd like to know that secret.

I cannot yet see any point in remaining true to your original alignment in terms of game reward or any advantage to doing so. A-Merits are available to Heroes and Villains equally so whichever side I start out at, from level 20 I can swap and start earning them at will. The worst penalty for side switching is a slight loss of time available to earn merits.

Yet if I start out as a hero, and I steadfastly remain a hero (or villain as the case may be) then I'm technically penalised - I miss out on content that is available to people who do side switch.

To me this seems very odd - when it's a fundamental tenet of the game that you pick a side from the start. Sure Going Rogue allows you to swap but it's almost forcing you to swap sides at least once - and if you don't, then you're losing out.

I can see there's an argument that says "well the Devs want you to experience the content on the other side" but in an as alt-friendly game of this maturity that CoXGR is it seems highly unlikely that most players who've played for a while won't have experienced it - so that argument's relatively easily countered.

So what's the advantage in game terms (in other words excluding RP/Personal Satisfaction/Other reasons) to stick to your original alignment? If there isn't an advantage, as I suspect is the case, should there be one? It seems loyalty to high ideals or to Lord Recluse is penalised, not rewarded. Switch from Hero to Villain to Hero again nobody bats an eyelid, but to remain a constant Villain or Hero is all a bit pointless perhaps?
My main hero, has remained a hero, and I haven't found to be missing out on anything.

Though, I hope in i19 those new alignment missions really do have me sitting and thinking.

So far, they've been okay Hero seems right, vigilante seems to let everyone die.

Only in praetoria have I seen myself sitting at the choices going "Hmmm...which one would this character take"
