Its about time Disney does something with their acquisition of Marvel. People feared it without the realization Disney itself is a huge DOW company with its hands on a lot of pots, including ownership of ABC. The WB/DC likes to talk big, but they're not even in the same league as The Walt Disney Company.

That said, I'm still hoping for a Power Pack TV series on Disney's more kid oriented channels.

a new Hulk series could be pretty cool, i'd be down for seeing if they'd just end up following the original live action show, or do something else. but a Cloak & Dagger show? on ABC family? sure the premise could do well, but on ABC family?

I think superheroes on TV are much more flexible than in movies - like you can have a whole season of shows, which means you don't have to try squeezing in as many popular villains as possible into a 2 hour movie, and can spend more time of important parts of the characters' backgrounds and general universe lore - plus, crossovers are way easier to do too.

not so much actually. while TV shows definitely get the time factor on their sides, movies have budgets that most TV shows would die for. even if they took a decent budget for one movie and divided it up for an entire season of a show, it's still more than most TV shows could ever hope to get. (and sadly like some movies, the more popular shows end up spending most of that budget on their actors.) also, depending on who makes the show, sometimes it isn't as easy to get certain characters as one might like. using Smallville as an example, it was mentioned at one point they wanted to bring Bruce Wayne or Wonder Woman onto the show at one point, but they weren't allowed because WB was busy focusing on building movie franchises for the two of them. also, in the case of recurring villains, you have to make sure you've secured the same actor you cast the first time around for if you need to use them later in the season. TV shows can be just as big, perhaps even bigger headaches than movies.

At least if a movie is bad, it's usually a one and done sort of thing. If a TV show is bad, it gets dragged out with several poor episodes before getting to a single good one, or canceled before any of the stories can really be fleshed out and finished up.

Not to mention the special effects needed to make it as good as the viewers expect it to be.

Look at heroes. I'd say one of it's biggest let downs was people wanting to see a super powered fight at the end of season 1.

What did they get. A few lights, then some noises behind a door. Which, I think they were expecting for most of the season, but not on the last episode of the season.

Now some superheroes can work into not needing that, but a live action JLA or X-Men show, would really be limited in what they could do.

it also depends on the property and how its marketed and done.

For example a Cloak and Dagger story has greta potential in a WB style environment. plenty of teenage angst, a chance for a great romance story and plenty of opportunities to showcase teen issues such as bullying, runaways, prostitiution and so on and so forth. But if it is done wrong it become beveryhills superheroes 90210 and thus cna be run into the gutter.

The Hulk has potential given the running man/fugitive angle and with the leader and General Ross as villains including the Abomination, Rhino and a few others as villains du jour youve got a strong serial possibility. But it could get formulaic if done wrong.

A power pack series would be perfect for disney family and even abc or disney xd. just keep it light hearted and fun with the rare scarey storyline to make a change of pace.

I can't see any actual super powered comic book characters working well on a TV series. Too little budget and not enough action to really capture the spirit of the major superheroes.

I can think of a few. Daredevil for instance. I bet you could do Ironman although not as good as the films obviously). X-men would be possible. They even made a show kinda sorta based on that called Mutant X. It's writing was terrible though.
Things would need to be scaled back a bit, but I think a lot more heroes are possible than before.

Personally, I'd like to see a serious Batman series.

Bah, that's exactly what I don't want to see. What would work IMO is something like Hellblazer or Ex Machina...hell pretty much any Vertigo series would be cool.
