I'd say of the older zones being ignored also has to do with more people having an easier time to get to 50.
I think most people would prefere to PvP at level 50, than exemp down, lose their powers and PvP at lvl 25.
Add on, the casual PvPer doesn't want to make two builds. They'd rather put the effort into one build, and use their influence on another toon.
And of course every one always says PvP is broken, because people migrate towards the FotM builds, and while they won't be the only builds they see in Zones, they see why they're FotM and really they don't want to be limited to playing that limited selection to feel competitive.
Also, some people just can't stand to lose. PvP attitudes are a lot of the time just rediculously bad (at least in zones).
It may not be the majority of PvPers, but I know I run into more obnoxious players when in PvP Zones, then when I'm on failing teams in PvE.
PvP will in CoH will improve when a players character can feel in PvP like it does in PvE. -
Quote:If that rumor is true, I'm actually a bit hesitant now :/ From the clips, it doesn't look it, but if that rumor is true, I'm afraid I'll be going into a 60's Batman. The rumors about this film on the movie and SF sites are uniformly horrifying. It's turned into a nightmare for the studio -- they wanted a superhero film but the director and cast gave them a campy comedy. Every source I've read says that Green Hornet will be one of the worst films of 2011.
-
Possibly true. I tend to just use TAB to target enemies, so I'm not so sure a 1ft target would be a problem.

The community, and the want to play the concept I have in my head for a long time ago created superhero, that's likely never to see the inside of a comicbook

Still waiting on that ability to play the concept though, but half way there. -
Quote:The team window?Powers can be separated between the two systems. How your character looks, and their size, cannot. As such, those two systems need to follow the same rules. And likely, the same problems would occur in both systems if you were to scale the models down to 1 foot tall. Imagine if you're a bubbler on a team with a 1' individual, but you can't target them to apply the bubbles.

Quote:Other people have their characters the way the want them? O.OThis thread is *not* a 'joke', Sam.
I understand the technical issues side of the argument, but I am very serious about wanting to see my character look the way she is supposed to. Other people have their characters the way *they* want them.
No joke, Sam. Please don't troll me. You don't want a cat model, that's fine. I do, and I will continue to hold out hope -- no matter how long it takes nor how naive my request may sound to certain factions of the community!
I also take umbrance to the people who insinuate that I am spamming my request. A 6-month hiatus does *not* qualify as 'spamming'.
*goes and looks for DP/WP AT*
*comes back crying*
Why Amerikat?! Why?! You're a hero! You made me sad!
*wipes tears away*
*sniff*
Seriously, I hope everyone can make the heroes they want, but I also don't know how much you're willing to bend on yours. Do you just want to run around as a cat? Or are you looking for a cat in a cape?
If it's just to be cat, pushing for the animal shapeshifter could be the way to get you an always in cat form, character. -

Quote:While, I'll don't 100% agree with the "automatically LOOK like a Hero Character" part. I see nothing wrong with that. As I saw nothing wrong with the ones who did. Green Horney was never more than a guy in a suit and a mask anywaysMy expectations were actually raised by this trailer.
Now it's entirely possible that it'll still suck, but if what they showed is as "goofy" as the humor will get, I can live with it. Besides, it's just nice to see a hero character who doesn't automatically LOOK like a "Hero Character". It's also nice to see a hero having some fun with his adventures as opposed to the usual super-gritty "living weapon".
I'm keeping my expectations low, but I see potential here. I'll definitely be checking this out.
So it's not like I'm expecting tights.
But I do like that have it setup as someone who's actually excited by it. My only hope is if it's a success, they don't have him going all angsty in the second one, thinking he needs to hang up the mask
Also, Seth Rogen looks to have taken off a lot of the weight for the part. -
Quote:Of course.I'm not trying to claim that a significant portion of the playerbase wants this. I'm just acknowledging that I have seen requests for animal skeletons many times over the last six years.
There's going to be a small portion of the player base that wants this, there's going to be a small portion of the player base that wants that.
For this request, outside of a animal shapeshifting set, I suspect the request to play supercat or batdog is very very small. I don't think many want to play City of Pound Puppies.
And how's it going to work? It's already been shown they don't want to do outright silly things. And assuming I want to play a superhero fox, how would it look with my fox running around with dual pistols in her paws? Would there be a clank every time she took a step?
I have no doubt, Amerikat takes her character seriously. I'm sure there are a few others who would to. I just think the amount of players who would use such a build, would be so small, as to not be worth the time and effort that could go into other projects that MORE people would use and want.
And like I said before. I'm not "/unsign"ing it. Just saying I don't see it happening compared to a lot of the other suggestions. -
Quote:I have no doubt in that. That's not what I meant, and I think you know that.I suppose that some people would make characters until the novelty wears off -- as they always do -- but I take Amerikatt seriously. She's my main and is a Level 50 heroine. She's not a joke to me!

Quote:I think that's the problem, right there. It's not a penalty. But if you don't bother switching, it's just another average attack. If the tradeoff for weak damage is versatility, then it's less impressive, since most people will never see a payoff from that versatility given the extra steps you need to go through to get it.
Look, I've got a DP defender at 50 and my Corr is at 30 now, and it's not a weak set, but in order for it not to be weak you need to work a lot more than most other sets. DP vs anything is like regen vs willpower only minus the way regen is actually better in some situations.
People think they need to keep switching ammo for more damage.
I don't recall the ST DPS with PR's -resist (thusly using lethal rounds) vs always using Fire ROunds.
But, for me, I tend to stick to Fire Rounds, and switch to lethal when the team is facing the tough targets, that way the whole team takes advantage of the -resist. And I stay using lethal rounds the whole time (hard targets dont tend to get KBed). -
Since the OP said they want to tank, and I'm going to assume while generally playing with two friends, they will team with others, and the OP wants to tank say the STF and LRSF...
IOed to the gills SS/WP Brute or WP/SS Tanker! With for serious staying power, I'll suggest the Tanker.
More hit points just makes WP that much better.
If you want to do a bit more damage, or would prefere to have your attacks sooner though, go with the Brute. -
Quote:I wouldn't say a lot of people.Even if it was, it isn't a 'bad' idea. Lots of people would like an animal/non humanoid skeleton for characters. So rather than belittling the OP we're giving explanations on the difficulty of the project and offering alternatives.
I'm sure there's people who want a more werewolf style look, and likely a beastial run/walk, but actual animal body type outside of powersets (ie shapeshifting)...I find doubtful.
Saying that, I have no doubt it wouldnt be a popular body type for the first bit of the game with people making "Batdog" and "Krypto" style joke characters.
But after that, I don't think you'd see many use it.
Now...a powerset that lets you take different animal forms, with their own list of abilities (like Kheldian shapes), I could see people wanting and using. -
Quote:What? When I used Crane Kick on enemies and it actually knocked things back, it felt very comic book super hero.I might be wrong, but i think he's going for melee classes shouldn't knock Mobs out of their range.
It also never bothered me at all.
KB fits the theme of these powers in every comic book sense. So I see no problem with them.
This doesn't mean I'll take them and use them, but it makes sense, so should be in there. If I don't like it or can't handle it, I dont use it/take it. -
...I have a DP/MM at 50. Thinking about relying on Drain Psyche, and skipping Stamina (so when i19 hits, can get away with less lots in it
).
So was wondering how it handles without Stamina. -
Actually, as the chance for one to drop is already so low, and that you only get one chance every 5 minutes on one kill.
Toon A can only defeat Toon B once every 5 minutes to get a chance for a PvP IO. However, Toon A can defeat Toon B, C, D, E and F in a 5 minute period and have a chance at the drop each defeat.
So, if they made it so those defeated had the chance to get a PvP IO when defeated, but could only be killed by that one person on the same timer (but in reverse), I really don't see this as breaking the game at all.
And yeah, it might bring more people into PvP (doubtful it would be a lot...most people just don't like losing and the bad attitude PvPers really do ruin it for other players) but would it be enough to make it a worthwhile time on the devs? -
Quote:I'm quoting this post for the fact that, I'd have to disagree with you Sam on the above bolded statement. I see no reason that these would be considered silly places for knockback.I would actually argue that there is almost no situation in which knockback is preferable to knockdown, but that's neither here nor there.
Personally, I would ideally want to see knockback removed from some of the sillier places where it currently is, such as Hand Clap, Repulsing Torrent, Hurl Boulder and so on. I would vastly prefer this to having the ability to control knockback, because I'd sooner powers be done right than have the ability to fix them.
All of that said, if such an enhancement were viable, you bet your crab cakes I would slot that in Hand Clap and Shockwave in a heartbeat. I wouldn't really go out of my way to make ENTIRE POWERSETS knockback-less, specifically since powersets with all knockback powers tend to belong to ATs where knockback isn't such an issue, and moreover because it would take too much effort to remove, but for the errant few, I would definitely use that.
I'm not sure how the idea that increasing knockback strength works but decreasing it doesn't in the current system, as I really couldn't follow the logic behind that one. I would think that an enhancement can be tagged with a negative number to REDUCE the sum total of knockback enhancing effects, but again Standard Code Rant applies. The problem I've heard is that because the different knockback powers have different levels of knockback, it's hard to judge how far down you need to go. I assume putting a floor there and just going, say, -100 would work, but again - I don't know. I also assume that debuffing whatever hard cap there is on enhancement values to a very low level similar to how some slow powers kill your run speed cap should be viable but who knows?
The problem of "sneaking in" effects tends to be either when effects that the developers don't WANT to be enhanceable are enhanced, or effects that cause bugs are enhanced. As I hear it with damage buff enhancement, that enhancement would enhance itself and enter a loop, which is why we're not allowed to do that. I forget the exact reasoning, but it was along those lines. It's true that we don't have enhancements that DECREASE our stats, but I don't think that's out of impossibility, but more because of a game balance philosophy that dictates you don't balance by taking away, but rather by not giving.
In general, however, I will agree that at least SOME knockback needs to go, though whatever way is technically feasible to do.
Why wouldn't these powers knock people back? What exactly makes these powers silly for having KB in them? Makes sense to me.
Or am I the only one who's read a comicbook, where people get sent flying when hit hard?
Also, I find KB, while admittedly a both on some people, better mitigation than KD, for the reason that they're sent flying, THEN to the ground, THEN they have to get back up, to last longer than, they are knocked down and then they have to just get back up.
As for the suggestion, I'm not for it. It would just cause more problems for people with knockback powers, with people saying "OMG you don't have that -KB slotted in your powers. You suck!"
A -KB IO would just reenforce people's idea that KB sucks. -
Quote:Have to agree with this. The menders are completely untrustworthy. Hell, their leader is Nemesis.
That said, it's not exactly a painful arc. It's fun and interesting, and because Cimerora is so sparse the only real reward is being able to go on an ITF... Which I'm sure you've done far more times than you've done the entry arc. MMOs involve content that has to be done to get to other content. If you're willing to run the ITF 20 times, you should be able to run this once first.
Not to mention, you can just as easily have one person do the arc, then get a team of 7 who stand around waiting to get the badge.
I do that everytime I run the arc. Stand in SC, send out some yells, get as many who want the badge, and THEN get the badge.
The people who join the team don't even have to be in the same zone. -

Quote:I take the one who sent me the tell first, truthfully. It becomes either or when grabbing people for TF's and Trials.
You're forming a team for Posi 1 and 2
You have 7 people already, and the spread of abilities covers all the essentials, you broadcast room for 1 more, a scrapper and a stalker both express an interest. Which do you take?
Can you honestly say you would take the Stalker?
But then, I've every TF there is, as melee only (the shadow shard TFs with just melee and blasters) -

Watched it. Loved it. So did my daughter. And the audience was laughing as well.
I consider MegaMind to be one of Will Farrell's top two movies (I liked Stranger Then Fiction, and havent seen The Other Guys yet...hoping that's good...the others I'm meh on). -
Quote:The reason Rami went with Organic Web Shooters, is the same reason they gave Superman a son in Superman Returns, and the same thing you hear people moaning about all the time here on the forums.Except that, somewhere around the time of the first movie, there was a story in the newspapers about a highschool girl who had invented something for a school project that top scientists had been working on unsuccessfully for years. I'll have to try to research it, but I think ultimately it went to Dow chemicals... It was too long ago for me to remember clearly. But the point is, a real-life teenaged girl created something that professional scientists were unable to do, but it was "too unrealistic" for Peter to be that smart.

They think something is just unrealistic.
Rami and company didn't think people would buy that Peter Parker, a HS student, could come up with a formula to invent the web fluids (though in the animated series, I liked how they tacked on an innate sense that allowed him to create it), because frankly they think little of American audience.
Which, they're not far off. Like I said, listen to all the people rant about realism on the forums here.
The lack of webshooters is no different than them changing the title of "Let the Right One In" to "Let Me In" because the American audience can't handle a long title.

It's the same reason Juggernaut was a mutant in the X-Men movies. They didnt think people would buy that there could be mutants and magic in the same movie.
The sad part is, they're likely right. American audience are for the most part dumb. Started happening when they needed so and so realism in a setting that is all about the extraordinary. -
Quote:Wasn't there math done, showing that Sonic Blast for a Solo Defender, was better than a Solo Corr, because of the bigger -Resist stacking up? With Scourge not making as big of a difference as it does with other sets. The defender has a 20% resist debuff vs 15% for the Corruptor. Solo the Corruptor will probably do a little more damage against hard targets due to Scourge, but they'll be quite close against weaker targets. On teams the Corruptor will do more personal damage, but the Defender will cause more total damage to be done thanks to the stronger debuffs. Every Defender debuff will essentially boost the team's total damage output by 5% more than the Corruptor will, and 5-10% of the team's damage is going to be more than the difference between Corruptor and Defender damage, and on hard targets more debuffs will be stacked which will offset Scourge. Add in 7.5% more resist debuff in the Defender's Disruption Field and Sonic Siphon and I'm pretty sure the Defender is the better choice for teaming even before factoring in the stronger resist buffs.
I recall there being such a post, but I could be wrong.
However, yeah, on a team, Defender will do less damage, but they'll be spreading a bigger -resist around for the whole team to take advantage of.
Personally, for this combo, if you really don't care if you get the blasts faster or not, I'd go with Defender, for the better numbers in the Buff/Debuff department of Sonic Renosance.
