PvP IOs

I suggest changing PvP IO's so there is a chance for them to drop for the winner or the loser of a PvP encounter.

I think this might give some incentive for people to continue to try PvP that otherwise might steer clear after they repeatedly get their rear handed to them due to inexperience, poor builds, whatever.

I also think it would slightly increase the availability of PvP IOs and work to bring down the current market rate.

Thoughts?

This has a very very high abuse potential. When I tried out Age of Conan there was a fad going on called "Fight clubbing".

People would fight each other and win/lose equally so they could get their PVP levels up and get the PVP armor that was then available to them.

While I wouldn't necessarily mind seeing the costs of the PVP enhancements drastically lowered, it would give people a huge loophole to abuse for more or less free IOs. In the long run I could easily see something like that lowering the cost of everything across the board.

I'm not suggesting removal of the rep timer for either person. Just the chance that people who suck at PvP might get an occasional bone.

Rep timer or no, it's still abusable since they can just alt swap. The rep timer is only what... 5 minutes? I haven't PVPed in awhile but I still don't know how you could do this without it being easily exploitable.

Unless the drop rate was so dismal you might as well play the powerball.

Actually, as the chance for one to drop is already so low, and that you only get one chance every 5 minutes on one kill.

Toon A can only defeat Toon B once every 5 minutes to get a chance for a PvP IO. However, Toon A can defeat Toon B, C, D, E and F in a 5 minute period and have a chance at the drop each defeat.

So, if they made it so those defeated had the chance to get a PvP IO when defeated, but could only be killed by that one person on the same timer (but in reverse), I really don't see this as breaking the game at all.

And yeah, it might bring more people into PvP (doubtful it would be a lot...most people just don't like losing and the bad attitude PvPers really do ruin it for other players) but would it be enough to make it a worthwhile time on the devs?

Well like I said as long as the drop chance is like dismally low to the point where farming it is a complete waste of time I'd have no problem with it.

Well...

I'm not really *against* it, but I do need to point out that you can get one guaranteed PVP IO recipe every 70 days (if not faster) thanks to the alignment merit system. Doesn't take that long to run tips, after all. So I'd say a system *is* in place to increase these.

Interesting, so if the magic number of "Gratz! You get a Shiny!" is rolled, then instead of it automaticly going to the victor, there's a 50/50 chance of it going to either combatant?

I might consider PvPing if that happened. As is, even my best-laid builds don't stand a chance in PvP, so I don't bother as all I can hope for is the chance to let some uber-PvPer get even better stuff so he can kill me quicker next time.
There's just no profit in it for me.

Now, apparently, there's another way to generate PvP IOs, if I chose to purchase GR, which I have not.
But despite that sad face emoticon, I don't miss PvP IOs at all. I am quite content with the IO tier that's just below purples, for what I believe to be better bang for the buck.

/unsigned. It would be abusable by anyone who cares to set up a PvP io farm.

Because people don't already PvP IO farm? If the odds were the same but went 50/50 to either person, it wouldn't speed up farming at all.

Also, with the drop rates as they are, 70 days of A-merit farming is probably faster than PvPing. I PvP from time to time (which is probably more than most players, even though it's very little time) and my only PvP drop was about a year ago. Purples drop waaaaay more often than PvP IOs.
