Okay the entire two week rant about the Soul Mastery Soul Tentacles being White and all other dark powers being black, and arguing and flame warring with everyone. I was just kidding around. But really glad you are making this change for people that care about such things.

Hey folks. I am struggling with how to create a character in the city that has been bouncing around my table top RPG sessions for about a decade. He started as a low power super in a Super tabletop RPG using store bought armor and judo. He has had many incarnations including two cyborg stints (one really really high power) and for the last year has been my mainstay in Hunter the Reckoning as a martial artist bodyguard turned hunter. His next stint will be a continuation of the Hunter character turned into a Vampire, so that he can save the world. As you can see, the poor boy is all over the map. But he is a lot of fun.
My question is how should I create him in CoH? I would like to capture him as the current Martial Artist Vampire. I have access to StJ, but I think the classic MA moves are more appropriate. I think MA is pretty Gimpy compared to StJ and i'm sort of a powahgamer tho, but not enough to throw me off concept. It's a fine line. Any ideas where I should go with this? -

Been a year or so since I built a Tank. On my 3rd pencil sketch this guy came together. Now I'm just not sure if i'm on the right track. I have foregone chasing +health bonuses in favor of +Def and some Resists, but am unsure survival wise in high end content and Incarnate Trials if this is smart. Can anybody look this over and see if I went too far sideways? Thanks

Invulnerability Primary/Energy Melee secondary. Going for Softcap S/L, and Softcap Energy if I can swing it.

Okay, I know EM is a poor set, so if you feel the need to tell me that, in however detailed or short a version, ya....
I am somewhat unfamiliar with the "Might of the Tanker" proc. Can someone let me know where it would best fit into what EM power and why? I know that some of these Procs are better in fast recharging powers (Brutes) and some are better in longer recharging AoEs (Blasters) but have not messed with them on Tankers yet.

Er, Invulnerability has 50% DDR. Not perfect by any means, I've seen the defenses clipped off of it, but still a solid performer. Plus it has resists, and Dull pain. It is pretty much my go to set for tankiness, and has been for 5 years. And that is building on Brutes. My only Tank I ran for any length of time was a Will (25% DDR) and that tanked Lord Recluse in the STF (many said I got lucky) for about 8-10 minutes while the team cleaned the generators. Now that i am actually building a Tank around invulnerability I expect to see very good performance against all but Psi, and with the help of Inspirations I should be able to get through those times. I espect such solid performance from my Invulnerability build that I am not pairing it with Dark Melee, which I consider the strongest buttress to Invulnerability, but instead am pairing it with Energy Melee just for fun cause I like the animations so much.

thx Lazarillo. that answers the question of whether I should wait to start my tank for later, or go with good old fashioned stuff I know. Since, I'm building a "True Tank" taunt bot for damage sponging and agro mgt I am ready to roll. Have a great day.

I see no defense debuff resistance in it's write up on Wiki. Unless I missed something, or they change it in Beta, in needs to have a whole lot (read almost unbalancing) amount of other good stuff to make me pick it as anything other than a gimmick armor.
My builds revolve around softcap def 1st, solid resists, healing, etc afterwards. without a solid defense debuff resistance to stop cascading failure i always look at an armor as suspect when building for true tankiness. -
getting the additional enhancer slots was the decision I will never regret. But I rebuild and respec a lot. 30 Enhancer Slots changed the game for me.

I'm building a tank! (Hold your applause...) I have a few concepts on the shelf that will lend themselves to this archetype, which can be one of the funnest in the game. Also, I expect a veritable crapton of new blasting squishy teammates now that the Devs are making some MUCH needed changes to Blast sets. *Fancy Bow
My question revolves around Bio Armor. I am very familiar with the armor types as they exist, and almost always go Willpower or Invulnerability. I cannot make heads or tails of the new Bio Armor (lets face it, the written descriptions in this game are about 50% fiction and 50% writing errors anyways)
Does anyone have a good analyzation of Bio Armor, or a Dev page that really details this set out. (I saw one of these for Water Blast by Phil "Synapse" Zeleski that was really wonderfully written. Thanks Synapse! PS, can you shorten you TF? Please...?) -

I started leveling a bevy of blasters a couple weeks ago after hearing the i24 changes, thinking to myself, "lets give it one more shot."
Now? I may just have to become a specialist at being the team AoE hit man, and hone my survival skills to their finest. Thank you everyone involved in removing so much stupid from Blasters and making them actually worth giving up my tough Brute skins to play. -
I second dark gob's post. I ran all day yesterday on a crappy comp I bought last year at WalMart and did fine. Perhaps you should shop at WalMart?

I think I am getting better with Blasters! Based on the (potential) rule changes I had to come up with a concept for an AR/Dev Blaster. I had resisted this build for a long time, I hate redraw, not fond of weapons. The KB on AR can also be problematic. But I found a nice concept and set out to 50 the guy. I have him at 24 now, and he runs very well. Planning for knockback and AoE combos seems to be the key. With the right placement i can help my team annihilate one mob after another and never get too much agro. Also, the KB to KD proc is very nice looking. I have one that level 30, and cannot wait to throw it in the M30 grenade. The KB from Buckshot still exists, but it can 1) be useful since it is one specific direction, and 2) be turned into KD when working as a hoverblaster. Targeting Drone and Cloaking Device are both sweet additions to my playstyle. I'm not sure how mine and bomb will be, I will try them both. I can see great applications for both solo, unsure of team usefulness. Although trip mine has to at least help on a BAF. Gun Drone. heh, that cannot hurt. End problems do exist, so I am looking to solve those once I dial in how extensive they are. As it is I am running 2 SOs and a Proc in Stamina at 24 and still bottoming out towards the end of a long AV fight. (not soloing AV, fire support for team only pls thx)
My build skills are variable depending on the day. I spent a day on this build, but there are already things I don't like about the power choices, and i am not slotted into any of it yet, so unsure how it will go. I have all the enhancers ready to go, with what is possible "tuned" and the rest in base storage. Still, I wish I understood the synergy of AR/Dev better. All the AR/Dev guides are from years ago.
Please critique and suggest anything that might help. Thanks! (PS the new Damage set is in M30, why its blank)

I know there are two problems being "worked on" for these 1)they are supposed to be attuned and not strangely level fixed as they are and 2) they are supposed to be marketable.
My question is something simpler (I hope...) Do the enhancers actually level up in power as you level? As in, if I get one at level 24 will it get more powerful until 50? Or are they level locked like tradional I/Os. Or... Based on my limited look at the things (I only have a few, and am now completely unsure whether I want more) do they in fact all have the same fixed power? In effect, does a level 22 = a level 34 = a level 50 in terms of enhancement effect? Cause the level 50s ones I have seem awfully close to the level 22 one I got.... -
This is a real question. Prior to using the build forum I would post my builds in the specific archetype forum and get replies 80% time, usually multiple within a day. When ipost builds to the build forum I see replies 1/3 of the time, sometimes none, even if the question sits a week. Therefore I conclude either 1) The forum is not working as designed 2) The re are a lot less people visiting the forums or 3) People in general have become much less interested in builds since the build forum started.
As further evidence I see a ton of questions posted in this forum with 0 replies. -
Hi Folks,
Based on the "new rules" upcoming I am taking another swipe at Blasting. Here is a AR/Dev blaster i have been toying with. The main theme here is Range, when that doesnt work, Keeel fast , and if that doesnt work I am going to try to trick/stealth/bomb, etc., using teammates as agro sponges. Lastly, an e-mail chock full of awakens, sigh. M30 Grenade with be 6-slotted with the Overwhelming Force, nicely turning that knockback crazy power into a very nice AoE that is team friendly and regularly available. I will gladly take advice on power choices, build tips, and any hints on a paint job as well. Thanks in advance.

I understand that they were going to release Water Blast set this week, but the Pigmy Water thieves stole so much water that the powersets would be underpowered. Does anyone know when the release date will be (if, of course, we can stop more pigmy water thieving....)?

There are only a few contacts in the game that you cannot exhaust. One is in The hollows. Check the wiki, the contact does mention when they have endless missions.

That doesn't "balance out." Some powers have constant stable performance regardless of who uses them. Some reward skill. That's fine, to a point. Drain Psyche steps over that point, straps on a jetpack, and shoots off into the sky.
That's separate from the fact it does certain things the devs as a rule don't allow generally allow in a standard power, including enhanceable regen debuff, and literally smashing into the caps for regen and recovery.
