I would definitely make fire control/dark assault, as well as dark control/energy assault.

I might make earth/dark as well, and maybe dark/fire, but I dont think ill have enough slots on my server, so might have to pass on the two "maybes" ... Too bad.

I will play a mind/dark dom and finally use that vampyri costume I created sooooo looooong agooooo...

  3. A) Can I protest this protest? Because if it's not a protest, it's a contest, and I might win something.
    B) As long as there's no sweetened pineapple, I'm fine with the whole fruit thing. Yuck.
  4. As someone with a lvl 50 db/dm/dm corruptor, I'd definitely agree that one way to build is for the -to hit emphasis. I mildly disagree with some of the "low-damage" comments I see about them, but a lot of that stems from the issue of needing to be adept at positioning your AoEs.

All of the powers in a db/dm build have -to hit, but I tend to focus on that aspect only with the AoEs and rapid-recharge s-t attacks. All the heavier s-t attacks focus on damage enhancement, which can go a LONG way when a) negative energy is poorly resisted, and b) you start seeing scourge kick in.

The Dark Mastery APP power Oppressive Gloom ends up being a massive "fluff" mitigation tool in that, once you have the tough targets effectively blinded, you can concentrate on burning them away while all the minions and lts stagger around in a stupor. Even before you reach that point, however, your AoE -to hit neutralizes the worst of most alphas thrown at you.

    Oh, and...

Throw Howling Twilight in there, and you're nearly able to stagger an EB (total mag 6); once Oppressive Gloom pulses again, you've got him. I've taken down red-con Ballista (and various other EBs) this way, and been on the receiving end of maybe 3 successful attacks throughout the fight.

The ONLY power I skip in the blast side is Torrent, and mostly for aggro management reasons. I respecced out of that when I got tired of an 80 ft kb cone aggroing 3+ spawns because my chosen target picked that EXACT moment to run past me.

At least you're not dealing with a double-XP weekend.
  6. Can marginally confirm that number of players: was in back-to-back BAF, Lambda and Keyes last night, all between 16 and 18 characters. No one was kicked. CoH did crash on me as we defeated Anti-Matter, but I still got my Empyrean Merit and reward table upon logging back in. Presumably I got hit with the E.M.P.
  7. Really awesome stuff! Request/suggestion already deposited on the input thread.
  8. Granted, it's a short thread so far, but... no one's requested a piece for Dark Astoria?..

    Consider one requested.

  11. Hehe, can't remember what set/proc I originally meant this for, but reminds me of a comment I made elsewhere. Something about Chance for +facepalm.

Yes, I've done the same thing.
  12. Solo, I've also found it handy to get them slept or held and then, assuming you have the option, kb your first bunny away from the rest. Slaughter him in "private" and his pals don't get the leftovers.

A decline in SG activity has a direct impact on coalition activity. The two are both symptoms of the same issue.

It seems to me that they should change it so that Secured Bases have pathing enabled so that SG/VGs that want to do base raids can. Then they can return Items of Power.
Pathing needs to be an option connected to raidability, probably defined when the base plot is selected/changed. Suddenly changing it on people would likely wreck a lot of very large, complicated bases.

They could match the plot sizes in Secret (unsecured) Bases to those of Secured bases so the Base Builders and Stackers among us can have their fun too.
They'd also need to make the maximum number of power and control slots the same between the two types. And this still wouldn't address what would happen to the bases already built on secured plots

IOPs - In my opinion this was a step towards increasing SG Memberships. I mean who would not want to be in a SG that buffs all it’s members. But because they could not get the Cathedral of Pain trial working they scrapped that Idea. Well now that the Cathedral of Pain is back why haven’t they tried to bring back IOPs?
With the additions of IO sets and Incarnate abilities, SG-wide buffs may have become undesirable balance issues from their standpoint. There may also have been coding/synergy problems we know nothing about.

Give all (group) types the ability to get Porters to all the Zones, Blue, Red, Yellow and any other they dream up in the future. This would be a boon to membership, instead of looking for a smugglers sub, going to Pocket D or RWZ only to have to then hop on another form of transportation players could again have “One stop shopping” in their respective bases.
I don't see a need for more than two group types, but yes, they need to flag teleporters to allow cross-faction access to cross-faction moralities (Rogue and Vigilante. If they can gate the doors in Pocket D this way...

Why not let them (Freems) join SGs and give them limited access?
I'd be fine with SH channel and TP access since they promote better teaming, but I can see keeping crafting, storage and vaults as several of the "carrots" to entice potential new subscribers.

All of the above aside, Ad Astra, Fire Away and I pretty much share the same boat. Paragon isn't going to do anything to fix or improve bases (SGs) when there's no real incentive to do so. I leave the hope (aka wishful thinking) to the people who haven't already become exhausted while fighting this particular battle.

Exactly this. Worked fine for me when I did the same thing. Greatly relieved, since the item was a built Armageddon: something.

  19. There are a great many broken things with bases that need fixing, and a great many things that used to be broken in a useful way that have been fixed. Unfortunately at this stage, getting Paragon to do anything more than ask for yet another in an already long string of "base concerns" lists, or wave a dismissive hand at base development in general, is futile.

If I sound cynical... I am. So are a lot of base builders, these days.

Anyway, as a direct answer to your two questions:
    1) I don't ever remember ANY smaller objects that "morphed" into larger, consolidated objects, ever being part of the base building system. Might have been before my time; I've only been here just over 4 years.
    2) Yes, as far as I know, they inconveniently "fixed" the glass (and holographic) SG logo items. I'm just glad I created our SG's "indoor target range" before that. But I haven't been able to duplicate that in some time.

Even worse: Rikti monkey gas. Caltrops, at least, slow them. With the monkey gas, there is NO restraint. Pets run for a good 70-100 yards before returning... and often running right back into the gas.
  22. I think the only issue I've noticed that doesn't seem to be described in the OP is one that will take a bit of careful explanation.

A trick I used to pull on large spawns with my necro/dark mm: at one time, I used to be able to put my pets on Defensive, then hide out of LOS to a mob, throw tarpatch under them through the LOS block, and wait for them to reach me as a string of small groups, rather than one large group. Now, the moment any enemy is affected by the tarpatch, my (Defensive) pets aggro. It's as if the pets are treating tarpatch as a fellow pet that is under attack.

Haven't tested this with my ninja/dark, probably should, to see if it's a general problem, or just a wonky synergy with necro. Would help if other non-necro/darks would test this.
  23. The mild irony is that this room no longer exists in any of my current bases, though I did pull the "floating orb" idea for a meditation garden in one of them. It was originally how I designed the entry portal room (with the orb hanging directly over the portal) for an arcane SG I used to run on Liberty. I have no idea if that room even still exists, but like I said, it was an easy thing to re-create, and has a visual structure that works for a simple logo.
  24. I hope you're right. I really do.

    ...

Nope... can't say much more without sounding fantastically negative.
  25. Eh, I'll bite...

    My own avatar submission:

And a larger view to better see how it's built:

Not that it's rocket science. I tend toward zen-like simplicity wherever feasible, especially when submitting logo ideas.
