Happened to me the other day. Clear room in your tray, then email yourself something else. When you try to claim that new one, it will not allow you and say you have global transactions pending. Logout, and back in, and you should see the enhancement that disappeared is now in your tray. That's what I did, and got my Glad Armor +3 back. Whew. 
And if the above method doesn't work, petition.

Yeah, when your inventory is full and you claim, the item goes to Holding Limbo until you clear out space... and hit the server with another claim or a re-log.
If you /petition, that's what you'll be told to do.

This happened to me a while back, but with inf instead of enhancements. Worrying stuff, fortunately easily solved.

...you get an error message and it vanishes.
