  1. this is my build for my stone/wp. he's currently 42 and has no sets as of yet, but i suppose its time to start the process. the worst thing in the build is affording all the kinetic combats. my procs and lotg's come easily enough through merits

  2. so far this toon is still just in his teens, but i dont see too much trouble with rage crashes. dark armor really shines when you can give yourself any kinda of mitigation outside CoF or OG.

but to help with all the end issues is why i have the miracle & numina procs, the +end proc in dark regen, plus body mastery. i intend to solo with this guy a lot once i get him into his 20s and higher when i start IOing him

ive seen this build do some insane things before so im looking forward to the higher lvls
  3. awesomeness. im glad i wasnt too far off the marker despite the sleep deprivation. cant wait to get this guy up in about...but i guess ill need to hit up the plant/kin so i can save for all this kinetic combats..lol
  4. alright..this is my first serious attempt at making a real tank. my niche has always been controllers and corruptors. and before dark armor i had no interest in making one, but some months back i was dared to lvl a DA tank for funsies, so i went DA/ice to add to the humor. turns out the toon was a friggin blast to play once i hit SOs. so now that i have some extra influence aside, and after reading the "dark armor sucks" thread all the way through, i figure i will give tanking another shot. but like in the title, im goin for /ss this round for more dmg.

i have a build thats capped for s/l and i basically ignored anything else. my theory was between the moderate resists and semi-moderate defense for everything else(plus FS to mitigate) i should be ok for the vast majority of content with the heal.

any tips would be awesome b/c i really want this toon to work out.

if some things dont make sense its because i pursued this build after having been up for a couple of days..maybe more..idk. but the no travel power was on purpose

    Ice Control

Ive played an ice/ff troller for over 4 years now, its by far my favorite toon b/c its so dang versatile. Ice and ff can work fine getting only 4-5 from both sets, leaving me with plenty of power choices, and more importantly, slots.

For most of his career he's been a very melee oriented toon, Ive set up arctic air with a few procs(2 dmg and the purple proc--use the end/confuse from the respective set for an extra 7.5% recovery and reduc AAs end cost) so its great to keep running all the time. He also picked up aid other, aid self, and the rez. This gave him a HUGE boost to my support role. Add that on top of power boost and you have all the making for all your team may ever need.

Its true I cant do any decent damage on my own, but with then again if I wasnt a fan of teaming I wouldnt play this game at all. But enough on bubbles..just had to say my piece cuz ice/bubblers are all but nonexistent and generally underrated.

I can say everything the other guys have said is totally true. Ice works fantastic at range and melee so pick a secondary that works for your personal style.

Rad/sonic will rough on your blue bar but you wont likely need more than your toggles and ice slick to lock down mobs for the team to wipe them out anyways.

Storm is your best bet for soloing and its great set anyways.

Um...nothin else really new to add..heh. All kindsa good tips from the posts before me
  6. My best toon to date, an ice/bubbler. Rolled him a little after the first anniversary. 637 badges to date and counting. Currently residing on Freedom. Ive put his bio below the pic cuz i forgot how to make windows show when i take pics..lol

Whats up!? Prolly not too much if you're readin this.

Well, since you're here lets talk a lil bout my favorite topic: ME

The name's Arklide, Ive picked up a few nicknames over the years..Ark, Arkie, ********..the list goes on. Im a long time veteran of the world of Paragon City, Im originally from Infinity server.

Im a pretty cool guy I s'pose(cool guy..ice powers..see how I made the pun...just laugh dammit).I try to be helpful and make sure the city's new generation of heroes arent spoiled by AE or crippled by the overabundance of stupid that follow it.

Im the queen of wherever I happen to be at the time. If you really wanna know why just watch me and soon all will become clear.

I healed every major TF, including STF. Stick that in your juice box and suck it.

    Tata for now
  7. thanks guys. i know this is definitely a challenge but ill make it happen! thanks for the input
  8. ive had this toon for well over 4 years, he's my baby and badgewhore. but he just isnt too good at soloing..i think with enough help i can make it happen.

ive got dmg procs most anywhere i can fit them..repulsion bomb for hard crowd control..but i cant settle on a mastery. ive had ice for ages cuz it just fit, but the dmg just isnt there. so i was looking at fire or psy, maybe even stone.

i run arctic air with 3 dmg procs so im always in melee, thats why im lookin at stone..plus its the only other defense armor

any input would be much appreciated

here's my planned build so far..kinda threw this one together

  11. Ive played an ice/FF troller for several years now and he's been my favorite toon EVER. Ive played him as a hybrid support guy but adding the medicine pool to the mix(which helps out soloing too).

Ice control gives me several ways to control multiple mobs and by adding medicine I can stay that much busier when control isnt as important as just keeping those crazy blasters/scrappers alive.

Like others mentioned before, the mez protection is a huge boost to the utility I get from arctic air(since Im always in melee anyways playing healer)

But yeah...overall /FF is a really great set for people who wanna get the most outta their primary. Also, ice control is so pretty..lol
  12. i can agree that illusion and mind are 2 awesome choices for an emp troller. personally id go with mind just because its a less common and generally underrated powerset. plus you could even stack stealth + stealth IO to get the same feel of illusion's superior invis.
  13. Popular vote says plant/kin and I have to agree. Ive played both at 50 and had WAY more fun with plant control. I set up a farming build for under 200million influence and Im almost on par with most fire/kins that Ive run into where they've spent upwards of a billion...I call that a win. Plus on teams I still dole out all kinsda hurt. I invested heavily into procs all over the place and I gotta say its paid off. I went with stone mastery for thematic and practical reasons and never looked back. So yeah..plant/kin is a lot more effective right outta the box for teams and soloing.

Show those fire/kins that they arent the only farming trollers anymore!
  14. BlissfulChaos

    Stone/WP or /SD?

Im pretty much set on WP at this point...just because I doubt I will ever have the funds to fully IO /SD like Id want to. Im already lvl 10ish and can see where fault will be my favorite attack and form of mitigation. Ive already tweaked the build slightly for another 10-15% recharge in there to tighten up my attack chain. Ive also racked up a nifty 235% recovery rate with endurance reductions everywhere I can fit them so I can keep truckin through mobs.

Is stone fists worth keeping even once Im higher lvl?

So far my staple power pools will be fitness, leaping, and fighting. As it stands Ive really only got room/slots for either a 4th PP for set mule or a patron to beef up aoe dmg. Im open to suggestions for either if anyone has 2cents they wanna add in.
  15. BlissfulChaos

    Stone/WP or /SD?

I can live with less aoe dmg...i see my ST damage being enough to cut my losses there. And even at lvl 9 I see fault mitigating lots of incoming damage The med pool is there to be a set mule for more hp and kleep me alive when things hit a little too hard. Im just wondering if Im thinking right or if I should modify this some

  16. BlissfulChaos

    Stone/WP or /SD?

Im looking for something where I can spend much of my time soloing till I get to higher lvls and can dump some meaningful sets into the build.

I know stone melee's aoe isnt anything special but I figure with all my ST damage i wont be spending more than a couple hits on most things anyways once I get fury up. Im just curious which might fair better in team scenarios where I might be the meatshield. I have roughly a billion infamy stashed away for when I need it so Im not too pressed on money.

I see myself softcapping(or very nearly) shield when possible and the extra aoe attack sounds nice too. Tho WP is always a very repectable set..and notedly cheaper set wise.

Any input would be nice, still new to the AT
  17. BlissfulChaos

    DM/???

My tops picks for being able to hold the fort on teams and still grind thru things on your own would be shield, invuln, and wp. All these benefit a lot from darks melee's 2 best selling points, its -tohit and the self heal.

If you want something less common energy aura and SR are even still solid choices. But these would really be better suited for solo play since they lack taunt auras.
  18. I dont really have a lot of personal experience with either set so Im going off what Ive read across the forums to try to imagine what this build can and cant do. I have roughly 1 billion inf so far to spend on this if I get attached enough to make him worth dumping sets into.

    Energy Melee
I know the aoe is severely lacking for dmg and taunting aggro, Im banking on blazing aura and burn to help make up for this. Im also hoping the heal should be enough to make up for extra Hp lost due to ET.

    Fire Armor
My conclusion so far is its kinda on the squishy side as far as armors go but with enough sets and recharge turns into a beast. Blazing aura/burn will also help me throw out some slightly more exotic dmg than smash/nrg. I might even pick up the rez post-patrons just for giggles if possible

    Power pools
fitness, leaping, speed, fighting...been around long enough to know thats the staple for fire armor

    Patron?
Very likely soul mastery to futher expand my array of dmg types but mu mastery also a viable choice. No preference either way at this point.
  19. Kilgoth is correct. Here's my 2 cents

    Dark armor
It's survivability(especially in larger mobs) relies heavily on its crowd control. That same crowd crowd control can make building up your fury a lot slower. If you are fine with that its a pretty good choice. The set itself really is pretty solid once you learn to manage your endurance, and that doesnt even mean intensive set slotting. Its got loads of resistance to psi, kickass heal, an aoe toggle, and even a stealth power for soloing. Once you invest sets into it it really takes a shine all its own too.

    Dual Blades
Very nice set on brutes. Its relatively quick, good damage, easier on end than some other sets, and looks very flashy all the through. On stalkers, the combo system can really take a hit though. Unless you really beef up your accuracy I wouldnt recommend it for anything other than heavy theme/RP toons.
  20. My absolute favorite combo is my elec/kin. The dmg isnt as spectacular as other sets but i still dole out plenty to suit my tastes. The end drain aspect is also just divine for teams or soling.

Im also working a fire/TA..got him into his 40s now. Not nearly the survivability solo but on teams its incredible. My end is a little lackluster(tho the mu mastery and some sets should even that out soon enough) and I always have something to click so Im never sitting and waiting for my next attack
  21. Dark blast would be my top choice for /traps.

Like Eric said, the immob plus the -tohit is total win to combine with the mortar and FFG

throw in assault and you could deal out some decent dmg and still have a self heal later
  22. I realize it will likely never be up to par with fire/kin...but after getting my own f/k to 50 and realizing i wasnt having any fun..I opted to try something Ive heard is a workable alternative.

I havent actually seen any sample builds or run into anyone who has even attempted this.

I know I need lotsa recharge to get creepers perma asap.

friend of a friend threw something together cuz because he was as curious as me to see if this could actually work. he has his own fire/kin and was even willing to help me out with money

here's what he came up with. i moved around maybe 5 slots for personal preferences

  23. im used to switchin targets and whatnot. ive got kins of both corrs(elec blast) and trollers(fire and plant), plus i play around with elec melee, so target rotation is 2nd nature alrdy. ive had to get used to playin squishies at the forefront of battle...guess im prone to crazy builds..hehe

what about a mastery tho? mu or soul seem most effective.

but so far its been awesome advice! cant wait to see what kinda havoc ill be capable of
  24. Any kinda advice would be helpful. Im a total newb to doms, but ive played trollers extensively (every AT to at least 35).

I know later i wanna slot for rech cuz perma-dom is pretty much where its at. then maybe positional def? idk

once i get more time i can finish tweaking my mids build and post it...but feel free to post your own so i can see where i need to work on things
