BTW, has anyone ever noticed that the PPD Hardsuit costume is actually not the PPD Hardsuit worn by the PPD, but is instead the PPD Shell?

  2. Note: You can also be rewarded this costume (or the Freakshow Boss or the Carnival Harlequin) for participating in events now and again.

There have been forum costume contests, radio contests and other such events that have given these kind of rewards.

    - I do not see all those commands on my hotbar for my pets. I just have an attack, follow and stay. Does this mean if I tell them to follow they are automatically in bodyguard mode? Attack would be aggressive and stay is passive?

EDIT: I see where you can change the stance by right clicking on the pet. Does this mean I can right click, change it to passive and as long as they are on follow, they are now in bodyguard mode?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you are playing a MM you should have a Pet Window appear on the left side of your screen by default. At the top of this Pet Window you should see the commands they are referring to. Those are the same stances that you can set individually if you right click on your pets. If you set them using the commands on the window however, it will command all of your pets simultaneously, instead of one at a time.

I have been to the Studio manager three times. He just says that I should get busy and start making missions.

Maybe this is the Devs new recruiting policy?

More than likely my character is bugged.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you go to a contact and you have outleveled the contact, or it is a contact you have not been introduced to yet (I.E, you walk up to Maria despite not being "introduced to her") They will say some chat and list your top contact, for most people this is architect studio manager.

This is not the same as introducing you to architect manager, they are simply sending you to a contact already on your list. This is not a bug!

The character isn't bugged, you are just misunderstanding the mechanics.

What people are telling you to do is:

    A) Run radio missions until you get a safeguard. Once you run a safeguard, the detective will offer you a contact in the debriefing.

    B) Contacts do not usually introduce you to another contact until you have maxed out their reputation bar. You'll need to run quite a few missions to get someone to introduce her.

    Hope that helps!

    [/ QUOTE ]

But if he has already done the AE tutorial (he said he has) the AE Studio Manager should no longer appear on his Contact list at all (he disappears and doesn't move to the Inactive list like most contacts do). After that he should not be sent to him any longer, but it seems he is continuing to be sent there. He's got a bug of some kind going on here.

Reminder: You have to complete the Safeguard mission to be introduced to a new contact. If you just continuously refuse that mission you'll never get introduced to Maria that way.

its still a double standard. here is the definition of double standard -
A double standard is an instance in which certain applications are perceived as acceptable to be used by one group of people, but are (unjustifiably) considered unacceptable—taboo—when used by another group. A double standard, thus, can be described as a sort of biased, morally unfair suspension (toward a certain group, such as solo players) of the principle that all are equal in their freedoms ( to transfer inf between characters )

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Total B.S.
You are not discriminated against in any way. You have exactly the same options available to you as everyone else in the game (who is not on a trial account).

IN YOUR OWN WORDS: "But i dont play this game to make online friends, and supergroups dont fit my playstyle. "
You *CHOOSE* to play in a certain manner and avoid making friends and joining groups. Suck it up and accept the consequences of your own choices. You're hindered in transferring influence because of YOUR decisions, not the Devs'.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And even then, you're not that hindered. You can still use the market to transfer inf to any alt you want. You just have to know how to be careful when using that method.

Or that it would show where glowies/hostages/etc. are on the map and cut down on the running around. It would make for a more direct approach to completing a mish. They probably would do this though b/c it might make the missions too easy or exploitable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It would just clear the map. They would actually have to create a new system to show you where glowies are on the map, and hostages/allies don't appear on the map until you've rescued them anyway.

Here's another site where it is mentioned.

Again, no one knows for sure. For all we know it could be slated for the 81 month reward. But nothing else has slipped through so...

  7. [ QUOTE ]
While I do agree that the MM Primaries are not really Mutant or Science friendly at a glace, I have two examples of how description can be used to overcome this...

The first is someone I saw awhile back who's name entirely escapes me. She was a Thugs/Poison. According to her bio, she was a mutant who was able to mix basic chemicals inside her body and produce various drugs and toxins. The thugs were people subjected to these drugs, who were literally addicted to her. This impressed me, so I spun it around and made my own variation based off the concept...

Sixth Plague, my short-lived Necro/Pain Mutant MM. First, I ignored every attack in Necro, favoring a pure healer/support build. This solved the "dark magic" problem. Plague's mutation was that his blood cells shared similar traits to a virus. This virus had in turn made him rather grotesque, but would not kill him. He infected others, and found that not only were they degenerated as well, but they had also become slaves to his will. Further experimentation with his own blood revealed he could reverse it's effects at a whim, instead allowing it to rebuild flesh. So yeah, those red FX from /Pain...Let's just say you'll need a long shower.

In short: The key to making a power set fit for any Origin is to think waaaaaaay outside the box. Be weird! Be bizzare! People will see your explaination and go "Whoa, that's new!" Next thing you know, you're RPing. Fun for everyone!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Nice one.

That reminds me of my Science MM, Trick or Treat: Zombie/Poison. She was formerly an activist during the Vietnam war, later she was captured and made to work for the Army developing Biological Enhancement drugs for the troops. The drugs she developed were wildly successful, but they had a side affect, they caused the soldiers to die.. and then return. The soldiers who were experimented on came back dead. Now they are bound to Trick or Treat (who also took the drug herself, but in much smaller doses), dependent on her to provide them with the drugs they need to remain undead. Her drug also provides her with immortality. Immortality that she will sell... for a price.

The point I was trying to make though, is that if you DO want to play a natural-origin human character, none of the current control sets really fit. Every other archetype (kheldians and doms not included) has power choices that can be played as a straight-up vanilla human. No weird race, no superpowers. A watchmen style hero if you will. Controllers and dominators simply don't. And they should.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, wouldn't using grenades technically still be "science" or "tech?" Depending how far you want to take it, a "Natural Human controller" shouldn't exist, unless you can get enemies to stand still long enough to pile dirt around them or get them to fall into a pit you dug. Alternately, go for some of the Tank or Scrapper sets and slot for stuns.

And if using bits of tech (grenades) is fine for that, why isn't having a device to work on all the other varied effects controllers have?

Not against a "grenade" based set - heck, we have trick arrow as a controller secondary - but if you want to be strict about "natural meaning natural human," you've got a heck of a time coming up with a set that actually matches that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This. Mind control is probably the strongest current contender if you call it "Cult of Personality" or something like that. But I think of grenades as devices, and therefore sci or tech, not natural - same for Trick Arrow, Archery, AR, Devices and Traps, BTW.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In most comic books a character that uses low tech devices is still considered Natural human as these are devices that anyone (given the right connections and money) can use. It is only the high tech devices that move them into the realm of Tech and it is only the use of chemical substances that are unobtainable by any normal means that moves them into the realm of Science.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Perhaps, but the way COH's definitions generally work, the source of your powers = origin. If (going back to the grenade controller) we took away the grenades, could you (or any stand-in member of the general population of your species) still control? As a "natural human" was being brought up, the answer would be no - the source of your abilities is purely in the technology you bring with you.

The general example from comics brought up for this, from a "human" perspective, would be Batman. Yes, he's got tech assistance in the Batplane, batmobile, bat-rope, batarangs, batundies and bat-whatever else, but all those are purely... well, "power pools." He could still walk out, be a detective, and beat the snot out of anyone who attacked.... and so could anyone else (within reason) who just trained.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exactly, but that doesn't mean that a Grenade and gadget using Controller would be helpless without his goodies. Imagine a power as simple as Caltrops. Caltrops can actually be created from a variety of at hand substances and materials. Just sharpen a bunch of jacks you bought at Toys R Us and you got some caltrops. Such a controller could improvise (just like Batman) and be just as viable.

On that same argument, Arachnos are Natural origin. Are you telling me that the weapons they use should define them as Tech? They use some pretty high Tech devices, just nothing so outlandish that it seems unfeasible that a Natural human could utilize it. Could they perform the same job without their gadgets and guns? Probably not. So, should they be defined as Tech origin because of that? Obviously not. They're still Natural.

  9. 1. You each would get 5, assuming that your partner is offline. If you are both online and not on the same map it would do the same.

    2. If you are teamed (and on the same map) with your partner the XP you receive is basically the same as normal, in simplified terms.

  10. Yes, I have and still do receive non-spam emails, usually from SG members, reminding me of scheduled events.

Yes, I have sent emails to friends and SG mates, sometimes just to say 'Hi!', other times to relay important SG info.

And spammers are getting fewer and further between. More and more I find myself deleting spam from empty (already banned) users. Just keep using that Spam button and don't use their services and eventually they will just go away.

Make sure to inform new players of their techniques and suggest ways to earn influence and level up without using their services. The unknowing newbs (especially players from other games that utilize these kind of services) are their main targets.

    Mistrust

The thing about this game is, you don't really NEED to send money to your lower toons.

I'm still in favor of a way to do this, but it really isn't absolutely necessary. Your lower level character will make money on his own as he levels. All you need is a couple of lucky drops and you're set.

I must point out however, that despite many peoples arguments "twinking" is not really possible in this game. Sure, you can send money to lower toons and kit them out with the best gear, but it will always be the best gear for their current level. Something that is also easily attainable by a toon of the same level that was not transferred anything. Like I said, all you need is a couple of lucky drops and you can be set for a good long time.

I still believe they have plans for some kind of transfer system. They just haven't implemented it yet.

Shortly after the Invention system was released Exchange Banks appeared in every regular hero zone and LSSLs appeared in all villain zones. These are not the banks that are used for Safeguards/Mayhems (First International Bank of Paragon City is located in a different area in each zone) and they are located in zones which have no such missions related to them (Galaxy, Faultline). I think they have plans for these. Some people think I'm reading too much into it though so... Say what you will.

  13. I don't have the patience to work for what I want.

Please let me PL character after character and just buy my way to power by spending all this extra money my daddy has on digital gear. Me want stuff now!

    In short, no. Sorry.

    Translucency

You can make a decent Gladiator costume until you can earn the military uniforms. Not just any schmo can be in the Roman military, you know? You have to prove yourself worthy, just like getting a Cape.

As for the idea, I like it.

You can (sort of) get this kind of effect by using Stealth or Stealth IOs, but then you are at the mercy of a power to maintain your concept.

Since this transparency wouldn't convey any stealth I see no reason not to allow it, assuming it is possible and not too time consuming to implement.

  15. By default both of those channels would be in your Global tab. If you have them parsed to other tabs or removed entirely the chat bubbles may not appear properly.

The reason it sends you to the Architect Studio Manager is that you may not have finished the tutorial and that is the top contact in your list. If the Architect Studio Manager is still on your list, then you haven't finished the walk through. If the manager is not in your list then run Unai's missions till he refers you to her.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I did run the AE tutorial (several weeks ago). The AE Studio Manager is NOT on my list of current contacts but every contact I speak to keeps referring me back to him.

The top contact on my list is Unai and he seems to be working as intended.

So far I have done six radio missions in Peregrine and have yet to see an option for a new contact from that either.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Note: You don't get a new contact by just doing Radio missions. You have to do enough to fill the Detective's progress bar so that he will offer you a Safeguard mission. Then you have to complete that and return to the Detective to be introduced to a new contact.

  17. Actually if you read closely the Vahzalok are actually undead that are created through science (degenerating living tissue to make it viable) and augmented with technology (adding cybernetic parts). The Vahzalok still have a majority of their original bones and organs mixed with the robotics and transplanted organs.

They are more than robots draped in flesh, especially when it comes to the Eidelons and bosses/EBs.

I would think of them more along the lines of the undead in Return of the Living Dead 3 than the cyborg in Terminator. Otherwise they would be classified as a Tech origin enemy and would drop Tech origin enhancements, not Science.

  18. I've been playing since CoH issue 1 (that's before there was a CoV) and I still only have a few 50s. All of them got there legitimately, with no PLing. I don't do farms except for badges.

Others have the same choice. If new players choose to PL their way up and get themselves bored with the game really fast that's their own fault. The game does not advocate doing that, in fact quite the opposite.

The game advocates exploration and expansion, not stagnation. Unfortunately many new players simply don't bother to read anything that isn't in the form of short broken sentences in broadcast. Again, it's their own damn fault.

  19. If the hope for Base Raids is the only reason you are still playing then you might want to consider rethinking your decision to play this particular game.

There is so much more to this game than that one little thing that most people don't even seem to miss that much.

What, do you have something against such a minor little change for a little more consistency with the type of things we are summoning?

I mean, they obviously felt it wasn't right to be used for the Bot MM, so why not use the animation for that for the other tech style summons?

[/ QUOTE ]As I recall, Shivans use the same "cast" animation, and hey are decidedly not magic.

Then again, pretty much all super powers stem from Pandora's Box, which is magical as far as we know, so...

    [/ QUOTE ]

That reminds me of something else I noticed not too long ago. The Undead Slaying Axe apparently works on Shivans. So, while they are not magical they are somehow affected by something that is only supposed to affect True Undead (which according to the in game definition means magically created undead). Maybe there is a bit of magic in their nature that we are as of yet unaware of.

As for the OP, I would just like something a little more techy for the tech style vet pets. That's all.
