Mind Control is a solid set right now, seeing as Levitate works on almost anyone now with enough KB enhancements. Mind/Storm, Mind/Rad, Mind/Thermal too maybe, would all be solid choices. As for fire, the same secondaries go. I'm not so sure about Fires Effectiveness anymore due to how AoE-centric it is, however.

All the Brute suggestions are nice. My First 50 was an Elec/Elec Brute and, while it isn't the greatest performing brute in the kingdom, can still hold his own. I've been witnessing some good Brute action coming from a Super Strength/Invul brute recently that might be nice. A spines/invul Scrapper might be cool too. Maybe a Spines/WP would fit better though. Really just pick anything and run with it. Some of my curent powerset favorites are Stalker Elec Melee, Plant Control, Super Strength, Cold Domination, Martial Arts and Archery. Try something completely new and try it for a few levels. if you enjoy it that long, plow him to 22 and ask yourself if you still like him.

Has anyone ever thought of putting together a global channel on Virtue specifically for use by people looking for regular teams? This just came to me a moment ago, and as it seems the other global channels dont normally get the job done unless it's for a TF/SF. If anyone would support this idea I'd gladly form it. If it isnt supported by enough people then I wont even bother.

Altoholism really does hinder the possibilities. Part way through you just start thinking of new character ideas and eventually forget that your playing a Defender. And forgot to buff. Everyones dead. FFFFFFFFUU- But yeah, it's a disease.
Stan, get me another alt. Don't you understand? I'm sick, Stan. -
AE XP. Nerf It. Hard.
I used to form teams almost every day, using /search, sending out waves of messages for people to join, etc. But now... now even that doesnt work. This new generation of players has no clue how to play, some of them have never left Atlas Park. It was depressing to get a 5 man team together at level 28ish the other day and have someone leave because there wasnt a /kin on the team. We had a /Dark and a /Cold. Apparently that wasnt enough for him. -
Quote:ThisI've always thought that Willpower + Cold Domination would make a hell of a combo. Willpower is really strong in its own right, but Cold Domination has the ability to both boost all of WP's greatest advantages as well as fill in all of its weaknesses. Willpower with +HP would have tremendous regen and a lot of HP buffer, and Cold would be able to add to its exotic resistance (which is one area where it lacks) as well as buff up its typed defense (to levels where it could dodge things very well). Between all those things, WP would be unstoppable in a duo.

I could have sworn one of the Epic Sets for stalkers was getting Conserve power. If they do that means Energy Aura will need a new power in place of that as well.

Wow. This went from a simple idea into a hate-fest. Do not remove the aggro cap. Increase tanker aggro cap to like 23 or something.
The aggro cap is there for a reason. If you want your team to pull more than 17 enemies, add more tanks. -
RP Static Teams. Good God RP Static Teams. Usually, they start off strong. People feel inclined to play, and while doing so find they are actually having fun. However, it doesn't take long for little pieces to fall away. You find out one person wasn't as interested in the RP and get's mad because you spent time doing it with the team. Schedules change, attitudes change, people can't accept the terms that were laid out for said team beforehand. It's hard to keep them in order, simply because of how specific some of them can be. In order to start one and maintain it, your theme and concepts needs to be as specific as possible, how you plan on playing and the activities you plan to participate in have to be explained before people evn decide to join. Guidelines must be set and such as well, but it's difficult even to do that because you don't wanna feel like that one 'Rules Nazi' who makes everything less fun. Finding the balance between overall team evjoyment, RP, and general guideline adherence is hard, but if you can achieve it, it's certainly worth it. The only real issue that could occur is drama. One person has an issue and all of a sudden everyone gets involved on the issue. It's hard to maintain that in a tight knit group, but, it's just one of the risks involved.
One issue I've had with Static Teams in the past is enjoying too much, believe t or not. Once you like it too much you start thinking of making more and more and more and more teams and having a SG dedicated to Static Teams and then everything just falls over the edge. Take it slow, have fun, dont go overboard, find balance. -
If you mean AoE-Centric then Spines or Electric Melee is for you. /Nin, /WP, /EA are all decent secondary choices.

Really, any VEAT is good for soloing and any VEAT is good for Teaming. To be honest they're all good at both. BEST is a word left for the min/maxers and nonbelievers.

Obviously not meeting today, but monday next week will be our first meeting. Get near level 12 and we'll meet in Pocket D.

Quote:While it does do everything else you said. It Does not boost -res of any kind.

Thank you, edited to clairify. I wasn't too sure about Sonic, as I dont play one.
Like I said, and like was just proven, Power Boost isnt for everyone, but it's still owrthwhile if you have anyting that benefits from it (like Aid Self on my Energy/Energy blaster). -
Quote:I doubt they'll do this. To keep the power on par with the other AoE holds they'd need to change them all.As a long-time grav/ player, I can certainly understand your frustration
IMHO, the only real change grav/ needs to be more competitive with other control primaries would be the following -
Gravity Distortion Field
1. decrease recharge time from 240 seconds to 120 seconds -
Power Boost is great. It WILL buff the strength of Rad's -defense, it DOES increase the -recharge from Psi, and it DOES turn Aid Self into a beast heal. It's not for everyone, sure, but it sure does help. And no, it does not increase the MAG of anything, it increases the duration of those things.

Quote:Agreed. Perhaps they could be akin to Fire Control, having more soft control and damage than solid lockdown. I could see summoning 2 or 3 gremlins that run around for you, as well as a summoned DeBuff/Sontrol power that Slows and gives a Recovery bebuff. Would't be as powerful as Fire Control in overall damage, but it could e a nice alternative, as well as a solid set overall.Well Electric Control IMO will be the next control set for both controllers and doms. As it seems the devs are avoiding giving doms illusion and doms getting Electrical Assault last wave.
Most of the powers are already in the game. High chance the pets will be those electric gremlins running around Caps redside.
I cannot see dark control working for Controllers and Dominators though. The point being that Dark Miasma is a set littered with controls as it is, not to mention Dark/Dark/Dark defenders have as much or more control options than a controller as it is. -
If you're not dead set on being /energy blast, then you might wanna use /Dark blast or /Radiation Blast or /Sonic Blast or something. Energy isnt a great combo with Empathy. The best secondary set to choose would probably be one that makes your heals less important. Take for instance /Dark. Dark Blast redules the ToHit of all of your enemies, making it harder for them to hit your team in the first place, making your heals less needed. Radiation Blast and Sonic Blast offer Defense and Resistance debuffs (respectively) that help your team kill the enemies faster. Psychic Blast reduces the recharge of your targets, making their attacks come up less often. To play an Emp/Energy your only assistance option other than healing is knockback, and most people frown upon extraneous knockback. If you haven't rolled the toon yet (or if it's still low leveled) I'd say reconsider that second powerset, otherwise, I'll post a build soon.

Elec/Fire I foresee to be an eventual FotM.

Ok, how does 1 a week, Mondays at 8pm EST sound for now? Like I said, I would REALLY like to add a second day, but for now we can keep it once a week. The schedule for these will look like 8-9ish RP, 9- mission time. Also, I would like to point out that 8pm EST means ready to go at 8pm EST. I don't want to be a time nazi about this but the last static team I was a part of sometimes liked to think 8pm EST meant: log on another character, check the market, do some base work, log off, use the bathroom, log in at 8:30. I'd prefer we were all ready to go as close to 8pm as possible (of course someone is late or can't make it sometimes, just be sure to tell us before the next meeting so we know you didn't quit on us :P).

All of these posts explain it just fine. Fact is, Knockback is your friend. On an Energy/Energy, just be sure to clean up your messes. KB a couple targets? THen move into melee and finish them quickly. I will admit that I think Energy blast deserves a small overall damage boost, but it's a good set overall. Everything else was well stated by everyone else.
