New RP Static Team Forming!

I recently had an idea for a RP Static Team. The Team is a small Villain Group working for a mysterious benefactor who is just referred to as Mister. The story revolves around this mysterious man assembling a smal number of Super Rejects and using us for his own secret agenda. The theme being more Science/Tech focused, the mysterious man fabricates our futures through his unseen hands in order to create this group. (Think the background of the villains from the game Marvel: Rise of the Imperfects). Keep in mind we're not all "supervillains", some of us are just people with nowhere else to go. Upon Going Rogues relase, we will strongly consider a RP arc where we change to blueside, at least for a little while. For now, lets stick to the present.

My character for said team, a Mutant with very minor electrical abilities. He isn't nearly powerful enough to be considered a Metahuman. One day during his teenage years, an electrical storm occurs in his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts. While walking down the street on the outskirts of the city, a lightning bolt strikes him, and arcs through him towards a nearby gas station. The fuel ignites and explodes. As he runs away, another lighting bolt strikes him and hits a building. This process continues, leaving much destruction. He was forced away from the city, at which point he wandered for many years, avoiding electricity as best as possible. Then one day (when my character is in his mid 20's), a mysterious man approaches him with an offer, "What would you say if I told you I knew a way you could control your gift?".

I plan on him being an Elec/ Stalker. The characters would be brought together by promises of dreams of grandure, cures for diseases, and etc. These temporary solutions are caused through scientific altering of the body and technological devices/implants, inadvertantly using and amplifying our gifts to a more destructive level.

I'm looking to put together a group of varying ATs (1 of each standard AT preffered), preferably non VEATs (unless you have a good idea for one, keep in mind we're not affiliated with Arachnos). Another intersting Idea would be if our characters were decently suited for PvP as well, so we could have duels with each other and such without having to textfight.

Various RP roles I'd like filled include: The Scientist/Engineer, The semi-Mindless Murder Machine, you know, SciFi cliches mostly. I'd also like to see some verying genders as well (IE, lets not have all dudes on this team please, it adds very little character insight when a team is all single gendered).


As far as meeting times go, I'd like to set 2 weekly meeting times in the evenings, between 8/9pm EST to the wee hours of 12/2am EST (That's 5/6 - 9/11PM PST).

As far as a costume theme or name goes, I'd like that to be a group collaboration from those involved in the team. NOTE: If you don't think you can commit to a static team, do not apply. Also, lts keep the team on the mature side,and tes, I know plenty of 15 year olds that are more mature than 30 year olds, which is why age doesnt decide this factor. I would prefer age 17/18+ for this, as some of the RP themes will be mature (including occasional foul language, violent pasts, drug history/addiction, among other things not suitable for children).

EDIT: Gamepay will be a balance between RP Story arcs created by our team members and non-AE Story arcs/Paper Mishes and SFs. I would lie AE to have a place, but not be the focus.

Would love to but work overnights and have a rotating schedule so unfortunately I really can't commit to being around any specific night... At least until I hit the lottery, retire, or find a way to get paid for playing CoX....

Sounds interesting. I'll happily join a team like this. At the moment I'm leaning towards a /Traps Corruptor, though I'm not absolutely set on that one. Though building around that concept, I'm currently thinking of a small time crook who thought up ingenious methods of using common objects to break in and rob homes and businesses, though never with much success, due to not having the resources to really test their creative limits. Until of course "Mister" came along and offered to help them. But again, that's just off the top of my head.

For the meeting days, I'm assuming by the lack of specific days listed that there's no set days yet? And on another note, I may have a friend or two that would also be interested in this. I'll poke them and see what they think.

There's no specific days yet no, I'd like to select them once we know when everyone who's interested can show. /Traps is a great set, but not much for Buff/DeBuff. Perhaps we can get a MM with a more direct Support Set if you stick with Traps.

As per the story there, perhaps he was attempting to make these devices in order to steal things, yet they would never work as expected or would malfunction. Then Mister comes along, claiming he knows whats missing from them, and in turn adds a mysterious element to them. However, The mysterious Element in the long term causes the user to become too attached to them, almost like an addiction, causing him to become so wrapped up in their use that he incorporates the technologies into his own body, turning him into a veritable 'Human Swiss-Army knife'.

Pardon me thinking out loud there. I got started on that one and just couldnt stop.

Perhaps we could have some collaboration, sure! However, this team is to be kept secret from the rest of the Villain community and from Misters cliets. The team is supporting a seperate agena enirely, eventually leading the team down a near-redemptionless path. It would be very funny if we had met up and did some collaborative missions, not realizing we work for the same person until the very end.

What?

/Traps has a regen aura, an area slow, an area hold/regen debuff, a team defence/status protection buff, a single-target immobilise/recharge debuff, a dual-target (or double-stacking) to-hit and damage debuff and a fire-and-forget defence/resistance debuff.

Traps is pretty much entirely Buff/DeBuff, except for its Tier 8 and 9 (which are both huge damage).

It is also completely awesome. Traps is as good as Rad for taking down an AV.

Yes. We know. But the fact is, a little diversity in support sets is good. I did not say anything bad about /traps, as it is, in fact, an amazing set when used properly. However, it is also a very easy set to screw up with. I expected at least 1 person on the team to have it due to the nature of the team, and that's fine, but I would like to see another support character use something other than /traps.

NOTE: A note on team size. I know I said 5 before, but 5 or 6 is a better number. 1 of everything and an additional corruptor, if we go over 5 people (not counting VEATs).

Also, may have found someone to play the dominator spot, a friend of mine from another forum.

Spreading out the support is fine, but don't mislabel Traps. You won't get your support spread out if you lead people to believe Traps is not a Buff/DeBuff set. You'll just end up with TAs, Poisons and Darks, which overlap Traps a lot, instead of the Pain Dom, FF, or Thermal you'd probably prefer.

I'd be interested in a static team. I prefer those to just pugging away by far, and the times listed are perfect for me, as I'm on the east coast. It would highly depend on which days though, as I'm committed to another team on Tuesdays right now, and I play in a static group in another game Thursdays and Sundays, though Sunday is in the afternoon/early evening. I couldn't promise not to be late that day though.

I actually have been thinking of a somewhat niche MM concept of a Thugs/Pain Domination that is somewhat light on the pets, though not abandoning them entirely. After doing MMs with armies of pets doing all the work though, I was hoping for something a bit more active and dual-pistoly.

The concept is a spoiled rich kid thrill seeker used to getting her way. Her father is in the mob and works with Arachnos (doesn't everyone on the Isles, ultimately?) so she's no stranger to crime. She uses her wiles, money and her control over pain to manipulate a group of thugs to work for her. Her special device is an experimental device that allows the user to manipulate the body chemistry of those that have been implanted with it's probes, sending out soothing endorphins to deaden pain or ramping up adrenaline and the like.

Cool idea Neko! How would she tie into the team though (IE, how would Mister convince her to be a part of it?)?


As an example, my character is tied in by a promise that he would never harm people accidentally again, thanks to the technology given to him by Mister. Without it he would be an incredible danger to society. He feels his loyalty is tied to Mister for giving him such an important gift.

If mister jst gives you technology to affect body chemistry than how does that make her team material? There needs to be a deeper story tie-in than 'just because', sadly.

It wasn't my intention that Mister gave her the body control device, but something she found. But how's this for an alteration to the background:

The tech that she stole was from a company that Mister secretly owns. It's a prototype device, meant for military applications for obvious reasons. However, nobody could ever get the darned thing to work quite right. However, this girl shows up, takes it and it's actually working for her. So he's interested in her and wants to keep her close where he can watch and manipulate her.

There is a downside to the device however, one she wasn't aware of when she first put it on. It's mentally controlled you see, digging it's probes deep into the user's body and regulating their biochemistry. So if it starts to fail, or is say.. turned off by remote control... the user quickly starts suffering debilitating withdrawl symptoms, eventually possibly sending them into shock, coma or death. So Mister has the carrot to control her by offering her new challenges and new toys. And the stick to punish her by withholding repair work and upgrades to her bio-manipulator, or turning it off altogether and causing her extreme pain without touching or even being near her.

That's absolutely perfect. A punk kid, at first working for money, and eventually, because she has no choice, when she realizes it. I like how this team is shaping up.

So far we have a Dominator, Stalker, Mastermind, and a Corruptor. He need a Brute, and can accomodate another corruptor (of any variety). We also see to have nothing but Tech origin characters so far, some sciency-backround would get some great diversity here as well.

So I made up my character. The name is Rachel Rapture, and I took Burke as her first contact. I just did the first mission and got to second level then stopped. I didn't do much for the costume, it's really not even a costume. Just the open blazer and pants, so I can change it to whatever team costume we decide later. Right now she's in pre-team civvies. My plan is to skip the first pet, the tree thugs. I'll focus more on the Pain Domination aspects at first and rely on the team to keep me from getting pasted. Later on I'll get the Enforcers and Bruiser (a couple of ex-mob guys and a former prize streetfighter she keeps under her thumb by keeping juiced up)

I'm interested somewhat.

I want to lean to brute (the concept would be middle-aged bounty hunter that turned to gene splicing to give himself an edge. Works for a pay check.) or a Night Widow Academy wash out that is slightly unhinged from previous conditioning.

Can't do anything right now, as I'm away on vacation and enjoying life too much to get onto CoX.

The bounty hunter idea is ok, but its another Idea that just doesnt seem to be tied into Mister enough. This team isnt just there for a paycheck, after all.

UPDATE: Thinking that we could use this coming weekend to level and set a level to reach so we can begin soon. Bar could be set at around 20 and would be easy to reach on Double XP weekend. This is just assuming we fill/finalize the team members by then.

Hm. I may be able to use that idea for my character, actually. I'm leaning towards having Radiation as the primary, at the moment. Mister could have provided him with a cybernetic part on his hand/arm to create the radiation blasts. Seeing what sort of person Mister is, that part could release some sort of addictive substance. The more the power is used, the more effect it has.

At this moment, what are the naming/costume guidelines, if any? I still haven't settled on a particular look or type of name.

For now the Costume is open, we'll get a uniform eventually. As far as names go, keep it simple and to the point. I dont want any [noun] of [noun] or [verb] of [noun] names, I want names that are actual names For instance, my Stalker is named Arcwave. Otherwise, everything is open (forthe most part).

Also, Lets meet at abour level 12 at the Port Oaks ferry in Cap Au Diable sometime soon, everyone interested post available days (that fit within my pre mentioned schedule).

Mmm, I read over this a couple nights ago but didn't have a chance to post and now that I've gotten back round to it unfortunately the MM spot is filled. I had an idea of a young mutant (Man or Woman is fine by me, whichever needed a spot filled) who was very snake-like in nature and horribly disfigured (Snake-like face, scales, pales skin) and used their inherant abilities (Poison in this case, plus just a nasty glare to put the fear in people) to gain alot of street cred and build a gang of thugs around themselves, but recently has discovered that they've contracted some strange disease that is preying on the unique mutations of their DNA and is incurable by modern science. Then Mister would pop up offering not only a cure but a possible way to be rid of all mutation entirely. They'd have a good back-story and motivation, plus poison is a really good buff/debuff. If you think you'd be willing to take on another MM then I'd be all over it. Or if you'd prefer less pets then I could go Thugs/Poison with the no-pets route so they'd be a bit of a squishy DP/Poison. Up to ya'll really.

Well, we have a /Pain and a /Traps, so poison would be a great addition! I must sadly say that another MM without the full Pet retinue is just a little odd. Might I suggest a street-smart Rifle/Rad or Rad/Rad corruptor who originally had a group of thugs tagging along who all got sick and died from the effects of your powers, than having Mister come offering a cure? I like the character idea, so it may be better to shelve it as a seperate project as try something different/similar. I'm not sure I'd like to see 2 Thugs MMs, let alone 2 MMs who both skimp out on pets.

We're still short a brute if you have an idea for that.

I've been working on Rachel this weekend. I had to take thugs just so I could solo through the content to get to 12. A petless MM is just not a very good idea for soloing, but a good idea for grouping, espeically with a strong group support secondary like Pain Domination, which I would need to drop a lot of power picks in anyway. My plan right now is to get to 12 to match up with the rest of the group than burn a respec to get what I had originally planned.

If there are to many masterminds though, I could go with an alternate idea. I've got a character brewing for a science based plant/psi dominator, esentially a force-mutated plant in humanoid form. Also I have a Fire corruptor I wanted to reroll, as I don't much like thermal as a secondary (the flame shields sometimes give me headaches). I was thinking of going /Radiation or /Pain with her.

edit: Missed the line about the brute. I have an existing tech based (Power armor) Electric/Electric brute and an android (Energy/Invuln) brute that are both higher level. I could exemp down until the rest of the group reaches their level. The power armor brute would probably be more suited background and personality wise. I also have a fairly newish SS/Willpower brute, but she's a mutant and really doesn't fit well with the group theme.

So long story short, I'm pretty flexable with the character I can play when it comes to fitting in, once we settle on a team. I'd like to know sooner rather than later though which I should focus on. Especially with this being the last double xp day.
