Hi Boar,
What's your global name in-game? I'm sure something can be done for you. While I'm not in-game at the moment, feel free to send a global tell to @Je Vis and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. -
-
I managed to get a few that I'm really pleased with. Most of them are names I would have taken for my mains on Virtue, had they been available. Aside from those, I also grabbed a few that I will likely release soon if I can't come up with a good concept for them.
The names I'm most likely to keep:
Knight
Fiend
Python
Atavist
Sonus
Reverie
The names I may release:
Babel
Rouge
Win
End
Trickery

Well, you're likely well aware of the Supergroup Directory and all that... And considering how long you've been playing, you probably have a general idea of what's out there. It seems that in this case, though, people don't feel like they can give proper advice. After all, an SG is an important thing for the character, and with such a wide assortment to choose from it may be difficult for others to narrow it down for a character that could get along well with such a variety of groups.
Though this may not have been what you were looking for, hopefully this next bit of advice will be worth something. Go with what feels right! -
Hurray! \o/
No worries, Tsukasa. Here's hoping everything goes smoothly for Sunday. -
Quote:Bah. Looks like I got bumped. Guess that's what I get for being all noncommittal. So, we have:
- ShadowWings
- Fourth
- thgebull
- Philly_Guy
- The_Myme
- Dinah Might
- Chilling Temper
- and myself, Tsukasa.
... I'm hoping I didn't miss anyone there, and a couple of our number have yet to chime in with their opinion on times and whatnot, but yeah. That's the list I gathered last night, so it seems that we've hit our eight. =D -
If it begins on the 15th I can actually make it!
-
This is relevant to my interests.
Did you have anything in mind as far as team composition goes? -
A question about the starting date, when did you intend to begin this? Just whenever you had enough people signed up? I'm interested in joining in on this, but can't really commit until June has ended. I imagine you'll have enough people sign up for this, but should the plans be to start after June anyway, or someone drop out, I'd be happy to take a spot.

Indeed, thanks for this. Beta will have an interesting future ahead of him.

Quote:If you don't use your organization for evil then this thread must not be aimed toward your group! Only the blatantly insidious need heed the advice that may come up here. You seem to be mistaken before you even had anything to be mistaken about. I'm in charge of a large, well-funded organization, but I do not do "evil." I'm not an 80's cartoon villain; I don't perform acts of willful malice "just because," because "just because" isn't a reason. There's countless other things that a person could do and I do them because I'm a human being with human motivations, as compared to people who do things "just because," which makes them little more than walking plot devices.
On that note: A penniless hero is a weakened hero, or at least an annoyed one. Draining all of their bank accounts may be enough to purchase a new ivory back-scratcher, too. However, you shouldn't gloat! You don't want to give them more incentive to come after you, however well prepared you may be. -

109 is my favorite. "I will see to it that plucky young lads/lasses in strange clothes and with the accent of an outlander shall REGULARLY climb some monument in the main square of my capital and denounce me, claim to know the secret of my power, rally the masses to rebellion, etc. That way, the citizens will be jaded in case the real thing ever comes along."
Oh right: Don't confide in anyone, even your most trusted servant. Who do you think the heroes will go after when they want info on you? -
This is a game, sort of.
Assume you're the lead super-villain in a large criminal organization, what steps do you take, or avoid, in order to be as perfectly, efficiently evil as possible?
Here's one to start: Do not test procedures on your best henchmen. Test it on your really expendable ones first. If it works, then use it on your best henchmen. Competence is not that easy to replace! -
Mostly, though I'd be happy to trade for another name, if I like it. I imagine most people here wouldn't be opposed if they received a good trade as well, though I could be wrong on that.

I'll be going for Beta.
The son of the successful hero Alpha Might, Benjamin Jeffries lived a fairly easy life thanks to the money that came in from merchandising. Though he had never known his mother, the bond between father and son was very close. This made it all the more devastating when, in February 2004, Alpha Might died whilst fighting his arch-enemy Xevis somewhere beneath the Atlantic Ocean.
With Alpha Might dead, the merchandising money dried up and left young Benjamin without a family. Fortunately, the timely intervention of his father's allies in the Justice Patrol saved him from becoming homeless. It was with them that he would spend most of his teenage years, though with no powers of his own he was often left frustrated by his inability to help. This especially became apparent, even to himself, when the Justice Patrol tracked down Xevis and arrested him for Alpha Might's murder. He was, of course, tried and thrown into prison, but Benjamin could not help but feel as though he should have had a hand in his arrest.
Upon turning 18, he decided without doubt to follow in his father's footsteps. Unable to go through the same scientific process that gave Alpha Might his abilities, Ben instead focused on physical training, while drawing upon the knowledgeable minds associated with the Justice Patrol. It was with their help that plans for combat-wear were drawn up. The brilliant Dr. Fero created the ingenious mechanisms within that would amplify Ben's strength, while the sorceress Fairy Wren improved the various components with all manner of defensive enchantments. It was only thanks to them that the attire was completed.
Finally feeling ready to face the challenges present in the city, he went to register. Despite the expectations of those in the Justice Patrol, he did not become the next Alpha Might. That name belonged to his father, and his legacy. It is his turn, as the second in his family, to write a story of heroics. The second, Beta.

Oh right, so I joined this thing a while ago. Neither is very coherent, but what the hey, it's for fun.

While staring at the third page of my character selection screen, I realized most of the characters on it were those I hadn't much interest in actually playing in some time, for whatever reason, and only still existed because I like their name.
So, my question is, what characters do you keep around only because you feel their names have too much potential to risk giving up?
Mine are:
Clockwork Magus
Silver Weaver
Algorhythm
Knightly
Vis a Vis

Quote:That sounds nice, though realistically I only have a few days on the trial. It may complicate things to get involved only to disappear.Hmmm if you're active in preatoria, maybe we can see about getting you involved in the little Preatorian Plot Action we've got going on around now.
I decide to come to New Zealand for a few months and cause the end of the world? Go figure. Guess I should have stayed put in the U.S. -
Quote:Let's see... that usually takes place at 7 PM GST, which in my current time zone is... 8 AM NZDT. I'm a little far from my home time zone at the moment....you should be able an access Pocket D which would probably be your best bet for 'bumping into' some rp.
At any rate, I'm sure something can be arranged. -
Quote:A tad. However, as I think someone pointed out, this doesn't really seem like the sort of problem that would actually occur in-game. It really seems like more of a hypothetical situation. At least, I've never seen it happen. If I was a Virtuan reading this thread I'd have second thoughts about rolling up on this server. Congratulations.
Anyway... Started a trial account to run around Union a bit. Of course, as it's a trial account, I'm restricted to Praetoria, can't go above level 14, can't join the Union Roleplayers global channel, or talk to anyone outside of Team, Help and Local. Essentially, I can just run around and hope to chance upon some RP. It's quite exciting. -
*Returns from Reality Time.* ...What the.. what?
...Alright. A bit glad I wasn't really here for all that.
Also, just now noticing The Crossing thread. Of course, I don't really pay much attention to the Roleplayer forum anyway.. but it looks like it could have been fun. A bit reluctant to jump in now, though, as it's already moving along.
Aaaanyway. Glad to see things moving along.
Oh, I believe I said something about putting together something about Virtue, but reality is doing that thing where it says, "Oh, you want -free- time, do you? Ahaha! AHAHAHA!!" So, that may not happen. -
Quote:Oh right, that. I may be getting ahead of things a tad.Until you actually get access to Union there's little reason to do any IC meeting at this stage I'd say, especially since the universe our characters are in is very different to the universe your characters are in currently :P
This seems a bit one-sided at the moment, as far as information sharing goes. I'll see if I can put together a bit of info on what to expect on Virtue. -
I'm wondering if there's a way to get the two communities interacting before the server merge, IC and OOC. The forums are working nicely for OOC, and I suppose they could work for IC as well, though I'm not sure if a great number of Virtueites use the Roleplay forum. A considerable number of people have taken to using Formspring for informal IC contact, using these few as examples. Obviously that's not for everyone, but it's something else to consider.
Anyway, ideas? -
I feel that the most likely thing is that the currently existing group cohesion will remain intact, with perhaps a few Virtueites joining in the beginning. Most will likely come over, bring there friends, and form their own groups. Though considering how most of us only really have time for one group as is, I'm not sure how fast this would happen, if at all.

Hello,
Virtue-ite here. I was wondering how the RP population between Villain and Hero side compare?
