One day Tank set out to test the limits of his powers. So he sought out the Drek who has famed for his numerous children. The children of the Drek were so kind to the children of Statesman as to stand back up once defeated so that they could be fought again, and were much valued for this.

Tank set about gathering about him all the children of the Drek, and indeed they came about him in a great throng, and yet could do him no harm.

In time Tank's brother Blaster wandered by to see what his brother was doing. Seeing his brother lost in a sea of foes, Blaster called out, "Brother Tank! Do you need help?" Tank replied "No. I shall put these in a box, just set them on fire and I shall bring more." So Tank piled many of the children of Drek into a box he had found and went to seek more, while Blaster amused himself setting them on fire.

In time Blaster's sister Defender wandered by to see what her brothers were doing. Seeing her brother lost in a sea of foes, Defender called out, "Brother Tank! Do you need help?" Tank replied, "No, I am putting these in a box so brother Blaster may set them on fire. Help him do it faster." Amused by the game Defender reached out her gifts to strengthen and speed her brother, who once more set it on fire, laughing to himself.

In time Defender's sister Controller wandered by to see what her siblings were doing. Seeing her brother lost in a sea of foes, Controller called out, "Brother Tank! Do you need help?" Tank replied, "No, I am putting these in a box so brother Blaster may set them on fire while sister Defender aids his strength and speed. Go help your sister." Amused, Controller reached out her pale imitations of her sisters gifts to aid her in her task, while Blaster once more set the box on fire, laughing to himself.

In time Controller's brother Scrapper wandered by to see what his siblings were doing. Seeing his brother lost in a sea of foes, Scrapper called out, "Brother Tank! Do you need help?" Tank replied, "No." So Scrapper amused himself by poking at the box while his brother set it once more on fire.

In time Statesman noticed his City was growing strangely quiet, and the challenges he had created for his children going unmet. So Statesman set out to see what his offspring were doing. Seeing his beloved son in a sea of foes, while his sibling sat playing with a box laughing inanely, Statesman called out, "Son Tank! Do you need help?" Tank replied, "No...", and so Statesman took half the power from each of his children and replied: "You do now!"

    Thus a lesson was learned.

I wish i had my computer running to do so. Recently my laptop has been crapping out when it comes to playing heroes, so until I get my desktop finished I won't be playing very often at all. I actually accidentally ran into AIB at the Atlas park wentworth. I went in to sell some recipes i found and recognized his character's name "Serene Servant" from one of his forum posts standing right next to me! Protector is a small world huh? Long story short, I have him as a global friend so as soon as my comp is up and running I can take part in those kheld' tfs with you guys. I'm SO looking forward to it!

That's not a bad idea at all. I think i'll try to work that in-to my build. I realized that i use dwarf mire A LOT in battle as an attack, rather than a buff.

And I'll probably end up going with reactive 75%fire, 25% - resist. I had no idea that interface was THAT highly resisted by AVs and GMs

  3. Every blaster reaches that point in their career where they decide to choose between resistance or defense for their master-blaster build. I started off being a huge advocate of high resistance (using force mastery) then recently switched to high defense builds (mace mastery.)

What worries me in this switch is that one of these two options are more quickly debuffed by oncoming enemies.

What is more easily debuffed in-game, Resistance or Defense?

With this in mind, would it be a wise decision to softcap s/l resistance and get around 30% Ranged/Energy defense on top of that? I'm considering this option with my dp/fire since an entirely defense based build is a bit to tight for my taste...and I enjoy the idea of dp/fire/fire theme.

Many other sets can look like fire through the customization of colors. Especially if you want to be a fire guy who shapes flame to his will like pyro.

Fire itself is actually very heavily resisted throughout the games content with only a few mob types like the banished pantheon really fire vulnerable. Think this way psi dmg for example cuts through clocks found at virtually every level range and factor heavily in many TFs and story arcs. Fire vulnerable mobs not so much. Sonic is especially nice as it debuffs dmg res so even those things with inital good res to its dmg wont for long.
If you're that high up in level and influence, I'd suggest going for your incarnate powers. There is a nice little power in the "interface" branch called reactive that will add a -resistance debuff to all of your attacks (similar to sonic). Considering fire/fire's high amount of AoE's that would be easily stacked...

    Sine you're only two weeks in, you wouldn't think a self rez power like Rise of the Phoenix would be very useful, but you'd be surprised. Along with the self-rez you have a large amount of damage and knockback. So those moments when you actually do die are alot more satisfactory >:}

If you are 100% stuck on that route, I'd greatly suggest force mastery. Force of nature is an awesome power (slotted for resistance and recharge.) Along with personal force field, you have a god-mode button, and a personal space bubble that makes you almost untouchable when you get in over your head. I rolled a Energy/Energy/Force blaster for the longest time, then I realized how strong a high defense was and I went to villians and respeced for scorpion shield.

    Help a Nooblet

My experience with AoE blasters stems from a DP/Fire. He's only at level 28 (Pre-Nuke stage.) I only have bullet rain, combustion, and fire sword circle and the DP cone snipe. At this stage his damage is phenominal with incendary rounds. In close range I can usually three-shot a mob of whites with only one or so red inspirations.

When I hit the level 50 ding, my total AoE's will include:
Bullet Rain, Combustion, Fire Sword Circle, Precision Shot (cone snipe), Hail of Bullets, Burn, and also hot feet!

Also note: /Fire contains a PBAoE power called consume. For every enemy you hit it brings back a base value of 20% endurance, fully slotted that almost doubles. Hail of Bullets also grants a 10% defense boost during the animation, and I've reduced the recharge to about 40 seconds. In close range he is a force to be reckoned with! The only /fire i could think that would be better is a fire/fire.

Elec Blast is horrid for Blasters but I see people arguing its fun and this and that constantly.

Thats fine, but the argument is if your mechanically inferior or not, not if youre fun. My fun is powergaming, your fun is RPing. My fun doesnt make you have less fun, it just makes your fun fun for all because I don't have to deal with yoru subpar concept character while I'm having fun powergaming

Seriously, do you RP being a weaker mechanical set?
In my opinion, and due to MY PLAYSTYLE (how I fight enemies, in case you misunderstood...) my AT fun and strong.

Secondly, from what post did you get the words "role playing" and "concept character"? It couldn't have been mine! ;D The only thing I stated was that, in the end, it's a person's play style that can make an AT mechanically strong, not its base values. Due to my PLAYSTYLE and personality (I mean how i play, not why) I tend to enjoy blasters more than dominators.

I only read the original post, and shared my opinion instead of wasting my breath on a petty argument on who's AT is better. If you have fun with your AT then nothing else matters, I wasn't bashing other ATs. I was showing my love for my AT and stating how useless it is to argue over which one is better. Is it fair to compare a blaster to a perma-hastened MF Warshade? Obviously not. Every AT is made for a specific playstyle and mind set. I've tried dominators and I don't enjoy the "control and blast" play style. I perfer playing on the edge dishing out crazy damage, while knowing that things could go wrong at any instant because my targets actually do things.

How about an analogy for you?
If you like to hunt bears with a rifle, play a blaster.
If you like to hunt immobile wooden targets at the range, play a dominator..

Regardless, all ATs have advantages over others. It's a waste of time to get worked up about who's is better. I know blasters may have their inefficiencies for some players, but for me they are INSANELY efficient.

They play their characters because they are fun to play, not because they are what forumites tell them they should be playing.

And that's really the bottom line to it. You can tell me whatever you like about the AT and power sets I chose to play, if I'm having fun playing that character I'm going to completely ignore you and keep on playing it.
    I second that!

The way I see it, no build is 100% better than the other. When it comes to base values, yes the numbers can be uneven but in the long run, who is playing their level 50 with base values on their attacks?! No one! In the endgame it all comes down to play style. Granted, some powers obviously have benefits over others (like with doms and blasters) but they also have their weaknesses!

Personally, I will always be an advocate of blasters. Don't get me wrong, doms have their ups and downs but Because of my play style i will always love blasters. If you have fun on your AT, then nothing else matters!

...besides, it's always fun to brag when your energy/energy blaster was able to tank jurassic for about 2 minutes solo and not die (note: i made no attempt to kill him, i just held aggro to see how long i would survive for)
  9. My NRG/NRG blaster would be able to handle mobs a bit easier with a crash less nuke, but I'd rather have the damage frankly. Nothing brings more satisfaction then firing off build-up + aim and making an entire spawn disappear with Nova. To avoid the crash, i simply keep some blues handy, pop one then conserve power. The recharge of both my powers is offset enough to use nova + conserve power in combination to make a super effective blast!

Yes, having two judgment-esque abilities would make group blasting easier, but it wouldn't be as diverse as it should be. That crash makes my blaster who he is, a monster ;]
  10. Yes! This is what i've been waiting for. I'd like to say thanks to all of the devs involved in "looking" at our precious Khelds. Now i have a reason to finish up my build on my PB. Perma light form here i come!

I like that we can now use our flares mid-flight, but i'll miss feeling like a badass after using nova's KB to floor an enemy and then following up with a stomp to the face!

I just hope that these new animations don't mess with the usefulness of my double flare and flare*pulsar*flare binds... :\
  11. So after playing my war shade last night on protector server I began thinking about how I would build my incarnates, simply because I know I'm not getting rid of this character ever! I was building him to be a Triform Perma-Hasten warshade, whom I'd like to be able to Solo AVs.

My question here is, What would be better on my interface slot for soloing AVs? Reactive core for the 75% chance for -resistance, or Dimagnetic 100% chance for -regen?

I see the problems slotting, not to mention the awkwardness of setting up special binds etc, just to make an AT usable more than a broken toe. Happy for other suggestions though; I haven't really considered it for Warshades.
Alot of Khelds wouldn't be happy losing those combos. My PB would be EVEN more crappy if i couldn't double flare. In my opinion, special bind's aren't "awkward" at all to set up. Plenty of people already have them made and placed on the forums all you have to do is write them down and type them in. Hell, there is a thread stickied for it. It takes a total of maybe 5 minutes to set up the binds and you never have to do it again.

When it comes to slots and power arrangements I'd rather them buff our unbalanced abilities when comparing the two ATs: like photon seekers and our lack of damage PB'side. An easy fix i heard someone else suggest: Swap build-up for the Super Strength set's rage power, change the name, and let it carry over to forms.
  13. I would have never thought of applying it that way. That's a great idea

    I want a Banker now(:

In my opinion it would be any AoE damage build with high defenses. A good squishy farmer is one that rarely gets hit

From my own personal experience a DP/Fire is a GREAT farmer. I have one around level 30 and I can three shot a group of minions with AoE's & one small red or so. I can't imagine how strong it would be with the nuke.

Also these would be really good:
    • Fire/Fire: The Intense AoE damage would be able to wreck large groups, especially with the Mace mastery AoE imob so they cant run.
    • DP or Fire/Mental: World of confusion? What farmer wouldn't be strong with an PBAoE confusion toggle, stack on high defense and you're insanely strong! not to mention Drain Psyche
    • Arch/ or AR/: low recharge crashless nukes can level big mobs, and some prema-builds can bring down the recharge to almost spam it (exaggeration, but u get my point)

That's an awesome suggestion! I would love to have a PB with rage instead of build-up. Then it would balance out the "WS needs more bodies to stack dmg" issue between comparing both ATs

My opinion on this matter is that when comparing the two ATs, Warshades have longer lasting +dmg abilities.
    • Warshades have two tohit/dmg buffs, the human one can give the same boost as the PB build up (with 7/10 targets). The main issue here is that the PB one, lasts for 10 seconds while the WS one lasts for 30. Anyone else see this as a balancing issue here?
    • In dwarf form, warshades have the same tohit/dmg buff as in human form, that only lasts for 13 seconds. Peacebringers have NONE.

Some sort of rage component weaker than the Super Strength version for PBs instead of build up would be a wonderful solution to this! Since it's a click power you could carry it over to forms just like hasten. Then when you compare the two ATs, their damage isn't as far apart as before.

So I can't really say how good or great that is. But I figure a damage boost is the nicest thing for him, then the -res. Hearing all this confirms it in my mind more as well, since I have plenty of Achilles slotted.
I would go with that, but I have never really been able to stand toe-to-toe with a really strong/big opponent much. The other day my blaster tanked jurassic for a little bit for sh*s and giggles, i lasted about 2-3 mins. So i figured with a PB's heals, softcapped resistances and a -res heavy build it would really help in the department

Okay good, so the 2.5% from the incarnate can keep firing (well 75% chance with each attack but you know what i mean), then sometimes it will have the random 20% from the proc added on (assuming it fires off.) That should deal some heavy damage
  22. So as most PB builders know an Achilles' Heel proc is always a good thing to have for the -Resistance. My issue is that upon rebuilding my PB with incarnates I picked reactive interface. Now will the effects of this proc not really matter with the 75% chance for -res debuff, or will it simply stack and increase my odds of getting more -res?

I'm only asking because to my understanding two procs of the same type, being chance of ___ damage and such, may override each other resulting in only one proc going off.

If slotted this way will the proc ( -20%res) and the interface (-2.5%res) have a chance to combine and allow one attack to do -22.5% resistance?

Honestly, it is a really cool idea. But the problem with it isn't as simply as "copying over forms"

    Think about it this way...
Imagine being in a big tf or team and you have a buffer hitting your powers and the rest of the team's powers, so these items are constantly changing.

You're telling the system to track an entire character worth of constantly changing variables, then apply them in another place and that's not even the complicated part! Now you're allowed to edit those values via-inspirations, outside team buffs, and accolades.

Imagine a /kin using speed boost on a friendly team mate, who's powers I copied. Now since that SB is affecting their Rech, it affects mine too, oh and did i forget to mention you're in the AoE radius of that SB?! So that's x2 recharge. Also, as the insp guzzler that I am, i just ate three reds and a yellow. Oh look, my team mate has leadership. It just affected the guy who's powers that I copied, and it affects me. So x2 leadership, lets assume it's tactics and assault. Right there you're getting four variables alone.
    Total that's:
    2 for the SB
    4 for the inspirations
    4 for the leadership

Now that's only accounting for ONE /kin power and TWO leadership powers, did i forget to mention that scenario right there only included three players. Imagine how much worse it would be with 8, using their full range of abilities...

Each AT is made to be able to solo and team to their preference. Creating an AT that is literally based on randomly copying powers of team mates completely eliminates the solo player factor. That's a no-no on dev standards. So for regular playing, that INSANE amount of calculations is literally a waste of time and money. I'd rather those resources be used on tweaking some of the powers we have
