  1. Wait! So now we are talking about making all scrappers into leprechauns with a little team wide 'luck' boost?

I actually could go for that. Of course, it would have to be so minor that having a league of all scrappers doesn't become the default mode of running trials.
  2. Marketing is:
    1. Two parts showmanship
    2. Three parts psychology
    3. One part timing
    4. Four parts repetition
    5. Four parts repetition, and
    6. One part Magic 8-Ball
  3. Bionic_Flea

    i-Crab

Cool stuff! I might have to steal some of these builds.
  4. Neat! First I heard of it.

    Thanks for sharing.

  7. I believe it. But that's a different topic than this thread. Let's not derail it.
  8. Welcome back, Goat!

It's nice to see you looking at COH through fresh eyes, but I am also waiting for you to return to your old, grizzled self.
  9. Scrappers 'inherent' is that it is good out of the box. It is sturdy and hits hard without having to rely on tricks, buffs, or other players (even though those things can make it sturdier and hit harder).

If I recall the original game manual, scrappers were described as the best soloists. While the game has evolved a lot since then and just about anything can steamroll a map set for /x8 once it has a good IO build and incarnate powers. But as you level up few tankers can get close to scrapper damage, brutes need to build up and maintain fury to keep up, and while stalkers may take down a group of 2 or 3 faster than a scrapper they fall behind scrappers in eliminating really large groups.

Do scrappers need a buff? Objectively, I see no evidence that they do. Perhaps a power here or there. Certainly some more power proliferation would be nice.

    But EvilGeko wants one dammit!

    This worked.

    Thanks again!
  11. Well, now when I tried it the Launcher said that I should click OK to repair the launcher . . .

If that doesn't work, I'll try your suggestion. And thanks for helping!
  12. I can't play the game after the patch update. I keep getting this error message"
    Quote:
We have detected missing or corrupt game files, please run the "Repair" option in NCsoft Launcher to fix this. The game will now exit.
I have run the repair option several times. It seems that it re-downloads files, but when I go to run the game I get a little pop-up saying that the patch needs to be applied. I hit 'OK' and it crashes to the message above.
  13. My solution is to e-mail every power analyzer I get to @EvilGeko.
  14. Good luck! I'm interested to monitor your progress. If you would be so kind as to include your settings (+0/1, or whatever) and how many missions each arc has.

The reason for my request was to answer a question I had: How many missions in AE would it take to level from 1 to 50?
  15. Haha! I just noticed that the female version also has a pretty impressive "bulge."
  16. I toyed around with a beast/poison on test and enjoyed it. The animation for antidote makes it look like your tossing them a little treat for being obedient pets.

HEY! You leave me out of this controversy.

Oh wait. I do want to make inf. on the market. Nevermind. Carry on.
  18. When you insist that everyone, including boss and spouse, refer to you by your global name.

Give them an aura power with a large range that boosts their resistance by 10% for every player in range. Soloing, the EB only has 10% resistance, nothing too troubling, against a full team of 8, they have 80% resistance. A lot tougher, but nothing a full team can't handle.
An important point would be to give it a much larger radius than invincibility and the like, otherwise a team of blasters could just keep out of range.

Another advantage of this would be that if you lose a member of the team, the boss actually gets easier. Nothing worse than losing half the team and then wiping completely because the battle just got impossible.
I was going to suggest this. Invincibility with a large radius would give NPCs additional defense that scaled with team size to make us miss more than 5% of the time AND would give them additional tohit to help hit even soft-capped characters more often.

But as Mazey notes, you could use that type of power with a number of different effects -- defense, tohit, damage, resistance, regen, mez resistance, -damage, -tohit, etc., or a combination of any or all!

On a larger note, I think that Paragon Studios should always try to give players options and always mix things up. Regarding options: I think that the one and only thing that was ever universally applauded was the difficulty slider (including refinements). If I recall, the only complaints were from a few people who wanted additional degrees of control. A few wanted the option to add harder and larger mobs and a few wanted a -2 level selection. But I believe that everyone liked the ability to change difficulty. Further refining of that tool, perhaps by adding the Ouro buff/debuff options, I think would be well received.

As to mixing things up: It seems that Paragon Studios goes through phases. One early phase was a little sadistic -- "if you don't suffer through this you aren't having fun" -- things like hard-coded AVs at the end of story arcs, PToD, the first Hamidon encounter are examples. There was the "ambushes are good! Let's do them all the time" phase of Praetoria. Lately you went on the "you have to do these gimmicks with large groups of people" phase as exemplified by the I-trials and minimum TF size of 8. And now this issue brings us to "we want you to feel powerful by beating weak EBs."

In the context of the game as a whole, these phases combine to give a diverse experience. But when you go through a phase and jam an issue full of that flavor of the month, don't be surprised if players find it repugnant.

    QED
  21. Well, it looks like the decision has been made. I'm disappointed. Not because I want to solo AVs. That's not my thing. But I am always disappointed when players have their options limited.

And if I can solo the EB and all his friends in the room and so can my teammates then the EB frequently dies before I even see him in the room.
  22. Your choices are:

    1) patiently wait him out.

    2) aggressively drive him out by slashing prices and taking a loss.

    3) move to another niche.

I usually do 1 and 3. I keep my current bids and offers, stop making new offers for that item (or switch to a different level of same item), sell any new crafted items at a lower price, and start bids on new items altogether.
  23. If they changed stamina not to accept Performance Shifters (regulars, I don't have SBEs), I will hop on an airplane, take a cab to your house, knock on the door, ask for EvilGeko, then slap you silly for giving them such an idea.

As to the main topic of the thread: I didn't like the concept of the store bought stuff being different than the in-game stuff in any way. But that ship sailed long ago. My hope now is that the SBEs are as close to in game items as possible. Performance Shifter is clearly not.

It should be fixed to make it comparable in performance (heh. a shift in performance) for all of them, whether already purchased or not, and have those with a complaint submit a ticket to have them reimbursed.

So you want to limit player options in Dark Astoria to 1) EBs or 2) GTFO. I am proposing: 1) EBs solo, 2) EBs team, 3) AVs solo, and 4) AVs team.

P.S. You still can't be Superman.
