  1. I've got this ninjas/FF character I'm working on. This seems to cut so closely between tech and natural that I just plain can't call it. The ninjas aren't robot ninjas, but she's got force field generators. (which I might justify as a creative use of Chi)

At the very least, I know I'm going to give her hover, and use the rocket boots costume piece. But, I want her to have basic ninja skills too. I'm taking concealment.

So the pools are: Fitness, Flight, Medicine, Concealment.

This includes guns, as they're considered generic enough (unless of course you -want- to think of the Frankengun as a technological miracle).
    *movie spoilers warning*!!!!

So... now I'm curious how would we classify Roady in the new Iron Man. He clearly relies on his soldier skills quite a lot, but he fights by using one of Tony Starks power suits. I'm leaning towards....tech?
  3. Actually, I've tried this proc and watched my pet's global recharge in the combat monitor, and it does work. Whenever the +recharge icon shows on the pet, their global recharge shows up temporarily as being boosted.

I haven't actually timed their attack rate, though, so there's no way to be totally sure.
  4. I hardly ever see his fury get over 50%, so it's clearly not as powerful as a real brute.
  5. You can solve the problem with 2 macros.

One should be /macro Clear "clear_petnames"

For the other one you want to use the /petrename_name current_name new_name

The lucky thing with Demons is that each pet has their own name by default, so you can create a macro that will restore all of their names to their customized values. It's harder for others like Thugs or Merks, because two of your tier 1 pets have the exact same name.
  6. Nobody is answering my core question though: which of the three options is better if I want my Jounin to kill stuff fast.

1)- Edict of the Master: Acc/Dam, Acc/End, Acc/Dam/End, +5% Def, ... then Achilles Heel Def Debuff, Chance for -20% Damage Resist

    2) - Edict of the Master: Acc/Dam, Acc/End, Acc/Dam/End, +5% Def, ... then Touch of the Lady Gray Def Debuff, Chance for Negative Damage

    3) - Edict of the Master: Acc/Dam, Acc/End, +5% Def, ... then Commanding Presence Acc/Dam, Acc/End, Acc/Dam/End

Can't decide whether to slot on Def Debuff or not. Can't decide whether Achilles Heel is worth it. Can't decide whether the Lady Gray proc is worth using a slot for either.

In the first two cases, using level 20 IO's (because I'm still only level 21), I get 1.45 Accuracy and only +28% damage. The real question is whether dealing a side damage like Negative will help me against enemies that strongly resist lethal damage. Or would Achilles Heel help me more? Or should I just not worry about it and go all out Lethal?
  7. Well... they're also silly looking. I have my vanity.

But I've also tried this build before, and I found the difference between using Genin+Jounin+Oni, and just using Jounin+Oni, is that all 3 of my henchmen usually survive every battle, so I don't have to re-summon very often. That just saves a lot of endurance, so I can keep on fighting instead of having rest every few minutes.

That, and 6 force fields are much less a hassle to maintain than 12.
  8. I'm trying to figure out the best way to get the most damage out of my Jounin. I'm not considering any purples just yet (she's only level 21 so far). I've been trying using the Achilles Heel proc, since most of the sword attacks are def-debuff, but I'm not really seeing phenomenal results from that.

Should I just frankenslot for damage and accuracy? Is the Touch of Lady Gray (chance to deal negative damage) proc worth applying?

One of my slots is reserved for the Edict of the Master +5% defense proc. Can't put it on Genin because I'm skipping them. I can do a Mids later if it's necessary. Basically she's a Ninjas/FF MM focused on trying to max out defense on her pets, but only taking the top 3 pets. (I find Genin are just too hard to keep alive when you've only got Medicine pool as a heal power.)
  9. I want to add the damage proc from Touch of the Lady Gray to may Radiation Infection power, but before I do, I'm curious: Will it still be auto-hit vs. Enemies, or will I start needing to hit them in order for the power to take effect?

It seems weird to be able to auto-deal damage.
  10. If you can spare it, then it might be a good idea to put 3 Gift of the Ancients on each of your defense powers, instead of exotic stuff like Luck of the Gambler. The +Regen from Gambler is really nice, but each 3 Slotting of Gift of the Ancients will add +2.5% Fire resistance, and fire damage is a serious vulnerability for Ice tanks.

Your basic resistance of 12.5% just isn't going to cut it.
  11. What's the best way to protect my poor Ice tank against psi attacks? The only resistance power I have so far is my heal, but I've assigned 6 slots to it. I'm planning to leave the Tough and Weave out of this build, though I'm using Combat Jumping.

Are there any sets that are especially good for defending against it? Should I be trying to slot for defense vs. psi, or resistance vs. psi, or directional defense like def vs. ranged and AOE?
  12. I usually go dark red. I want to see them a little bit. Especially with Dispersion Bubble, it's good to be able to see where the outer edges are so you can try and make sure to position yourself where your pets will be inside of its boundaries.

I used to neglect my pets's survivability and auras, but I've since learned better. A big advantage of DS is that, if you take Hell on Earth, you can get recharge intensive pet auras. Between all the auras available, you could add 20% to your pets' resistances, putting them at 46% resistant to smashing/lethal. That's way better than just being 26%.

If you to /Therm, or/Pain you could move that up toward 70% resistance, and then you're demons will be real tanks.

The displays have been a problem for a long time. The same basic thing happens with the Thugz set. If you slot defense debuff to an enforcer, the window will tell you that it's also increasing the defense from his Maneuvers power, but it's not.

I don't see it as a high priority problem to fix. So long as you know for yourself what's going on, you won't get confused.
  15. I want to know if the demons self destruct, or try and plant a bomb when you trigger the Detonator?

I have just leveled a dark/dark to 32 and plan to take the build to 50. I do run the build as a tank/troller, meaning I use taunt and all 3 agro auras. I tank for 8 teams and have no problem holding agro. Not the most subtle tank, I combat jump into a mob and spam taunt. Lots of fun.

Also, I see a lot on the discussion of defense. I would argue, in my opinion, that Dark armor is neither a defense set (obviously) or a resist set. It could actually be argued that it is a heal based set. (maybe not argued successfully, but still.....) Here is where CoD comes in handy. With my aforementioned tactic of jumping into a spawn, hitting taunt, and waiting. I generally take a huge alpha. If my health is gonna bottom it will be here. Hit heal, and I am back up to full health, even if at 1% health. Suppose the baddies are still clawing at me hard? As a dark/dark, I work my combat punch little heal, wait 15 seconds for my major heal again (I am not I/O'd yet) What I cannot afford is any more agro. The CoD makes sure I get no more. While my taunt and 3 agro auras ensure I hold all that I already grabbed so my team is okay. It, in effect, becomes part of my personal agro management tool box. Until I want more agro, I do not collect more agro. Even if the next mob is darned close. They cannot see me until I want it and am ready for it.
Good point. Excessive aggro collection is the death of any tank who doesn't have something like 3 or 4 defenders watching out for them. You've got to let at least a few of your mobs go after teammates if you want to survive.

Also, even if the +8% (slotted) defense isn't a whole lot toward soft capping, it could turn out to be crucial if you're getting massively def debuffed, by helping to keep you from the other soft cap (-45%)
  17. Yeah, with invuln, the AOE based approach is way better than the single targeted approach, because you actually want those bad guys standing around you in a big group to get the maximum benefit from Invincibility.

Besides, if you want knockdown effects, you can always slot the proc from Stupefy to all your disorient powers, and at least have that 20% chance to knockdown.
  18. I have an MM with Ethereal shift, and whenever I go ethereal my pets go ethereal with me, so they aren't dealing damage while I'm shifted. What happens with Hibernate?

If I'm playing an Illusion/Cold troller, with Hibernate Ancillary, and I turn it on while I have pets out, will they go on fighting?

    Edit:
Geez, scooped by the OP! lol

As Blpup mentioned, the corrupter version is actually different from the MM version in this regard. The Corrupter version fires off a small heal every 10 seconds, and has no +regen effect at all.
  20. I had a lot of success by dropping "Max Particles" down to about 1/3 of the maximum, down to 17797 instead of 50000. I think if your max particles is low enough it is impossible for anything to bog you down because any additional detail just doesn't get rendered.

I could totally be wrong, though. It's just my personal experience.

Man I hope so. It's sad to see i-17 getting overshadowed by this.

I think I'm going to try and set up some purchases. I'm betting on a buyer's market for expensive IO recipes and salvage.

Very good point. Do you think it will be a buyer's market, or a seller's market? I'm thinking more of a buyer's market because of all the stored up salvage and recipes, but what do you think?

It's wicked awesome. I just googled it.

    http://www.glasspaw.com/dropstats/

I hope this guy is able to start publishing some of his findings soon.

Also: I have a question about something he brought up on his site:

    Quote:

If you use DropStats when you're part of a team then the drop rate calculations are invalid. (All the other figures are correct though.) For example, if you're part of a duo and you land the killing blow on most of the mobs, then drop stats will think that you received about 1/2 the drops you should have received.
Does that mean the person who lands the killing blow is more likely to get a drop? I have always suspected this, but I've never been able to confirm it. It makes me want to focus my playstyle more toward blasters and scrappers.... rather than defenders.....
  24. I'm sure it's not this simple, but I'm wondering: why don't they just revert WW back to what it was before? There's enough other cool stuff in I-17 that we don't really need a new WW, especially if it's going to be throwing bugs. Let it wait till I-18 or something.

Are you sure you turned *all* the graphic settings down? I'm on a Nvidia 8600 and I moved my "Max Particles" slider down to about 1/3 (17797 particles), and that fixed the whole problem.

No other graphic setting made any difference at all. Just that setting. After I'd done it, I went back and reset all the other settings to where I'd had them before. Now I'm playing in Ultra Mode without any slowing, even in very full zones. My character's image is slightly pixelated sometimes, though, so if pixilation bothers you then maybe it's not a very good idea.
