I dug up one of my pestering PMs to the Devs about Dark for Doms, and here's one iof my suggestions on the 2 sets-
Dark Control
1) Gravimetric Snare analog
2) Petrifying Gaze
3) Tenebrous Tentacles
4) Tar Patch
5) Black Hole
6) Fearsome Stare
7) Dark Pit
8) AoE Hold
9) Dark Servant
Dark Assault
1) Dark Blast
2) Smite
3) Gloom
4) Touch of Fear
5) Soul Drain or Buildup, possibly Dark Consumption
6) Nightfall or Torrent (prefer Nightfall)
7) Moonbeam
8) Death Shroud
9) Misnight Grasp -
If I don't get some kind of Dark Dom by I22 I will be buying a plane ticket out west and my only carryon luggage will be a 2X4 and a wet noodle!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK, now that I got that outta my system- I do believe we will see Assault first, BUT.. do not hope for either Siphon Life or Life Drain. It seems to be a design choice not to give any Dom's any self heal in sets. We very likely will get stuck with a stinker like Dark Pit. BUT I'll gladly skip that if it means blasty goodness of Tents and Nightfall...Not to mention Midnight Grasp....

The group started to gell for me around episode 9, but I still don't think Ilsa is a good fit. What annoys me is the only reason the female characters were added was at the network's insistance to "bring female viewership up". They totally missed the whole point of a 'weekly' action movie!!!!
-
Ran a Kahn last night- easiest I ever done. Nazi-boy only stunned me and dropped me into the red once. With the lvl shift and my build, I was sitting at 52-57% S/L defense and capped S/L resists, so I basically pulled him to a corner, put taunt on auto and read a book at my desk while keeping one eye on the fight. Trying 'Cuda tonight, I'm curious if it's as easy.
The Incarnate Alpha makes a huge difference in these fights, more then I expected. With the 'Cuda, instead of the corner pull, I am debating standing right in the entryway to Reich's room and handling him and all the ambushes with a combo of Auto-taunt, Hand Clap and Foot Stomp. -
Definitiely Nin & EA for scrappers.. and PLEASE PLEASE SUPER STRENGTH FOR SCRAPPERS!!!!
Next...
2) Ice/Ice for Stalkers
3) SR for Tanks
4) DARK CONTROL/DARK ASSAULT for DOMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Illusion, pfft)
5) Thermal/Fire Defenders
6) Poison for Corrs
7) Stone sets for Stalkers please?(think about it....'out of the shadows... ASSASSIN'S BOULDER!!!')

yeah, I totally forgot you are locked into Praet till 20... good thing finding a team on this weekend is easy
-
If I take a lowbie Praetorian to a friends team in RWZ, and go to 20... can I still go back and make the hero/villain choice?
-
Let's see...
1) The references to the Wacky racers in the 1 miossion in Faultline.
2) As a Godzilla fanatic, I love the 1 paper mission to steal the G-Cells
3) The "zombie/horror" references in the Dark Astoria neighborhood names. -
I wish I could find the quote now but I remember when the Devs first said that the "raid on Mother Mayhem's hospital" would be the 1st Incarnate trial type event, they said you could play either side (loyal or resistance). That leads me to believe that the "trial" will work exactly like the Praetorian zone events- that can be done solo, evenb in solo groups.
Alot of the.... nerdrage is hat dedicated soloists have to wait till I20. Personally I think they should pick one of the Oro TFs as well as the weekly "raid target" as 1 that will give you a notice of the well so those that can't for whatever reason do TFs.
I also think that the title- "Incarnate Trial" is poorly chosen. There was bound to be a lot who will equate that to Teaming and the existing respec Trials- which are tedious and not a lot of fun! (Incarnate Labors would have been better, evoking images of Hercules etc) -
I've gotten Sven on several occasions and I can't say enough good things about him- he's quick, knows exactly what you're asking and is all in all just what you want in a game gm.
My best experience was on that blasted timed CoT mission where you have to rescue 20 hostages with a time limit. I couldn't find the last one, so I sent a petition- the gm was on her way to the spot where the last hostage was when SHE D/Ced. Luckily I was watching her on the map, went to the area and got the guy. She popped back on about 20 minutes later apologizing greatly if her D/C caused a mission fail. I just thought that was really good Service recovery and customer service! -
My 'default' for all my Brutes is the Energy mastery pool. Since you don't have many slots and will only have room for 2 powers, I'd suggest Superior Conditioning and Physical Perfection. Even as a /elec more END is always nice and its a chance to slot 2 more Performance Shifter Procs (or a nice Health proc like a Regenerative Tissue +Regen).
Beyond that, I will suggest Leviathan Mastery- having 2 cones will really help DB.. locking mobs in place for your AoEs. Also- Arctic Breath's -Def -Res will compliment the Weaken combo and just Ablating Strike by itself. Mu Mastery's Elec Fences and Ball Lightining would achieve the same (locking in place) and may be better "themed" with your Elec armor.
Stay AWAY from Mace Mastery though.. the last thing you need is another Redraw.... -
Actually Yes, in the next season of Mystery Inc there will be a Brave & the Bold crossover- a homage to the old movie. (And considering the quality of writing on both shows- it should be really good!)
-
Quote:Wait.. What???Specifically, I want the names of the devs who thought it would be a good idea to put a forced delay/cooldown period between inviting people to your team.
/em baseball bat
Been annoying the crap out of me since I19.

Here's a build I whipped up. KI used most of the powers you have and you already have a lot of the IOs in it, but it's got higher defense- take a look.

Quote:Nicely doneProbably, since I wasn't really trying. I was just describing my own experience on my two attempts at Apex. The mloment we loaded the second mission, my tank pbecame dead weight.
How's this, then?
"Maybe you enjoy spending a half hour running around the map with taunt on auto, watching the AV's health bar cre ep down, and occasionally dying because you dodged ineto someone else's patch that was off-screen a moment hago? Because I sure don't."(made met laugh anyways)
Question- (and truly NOT trying to be snarky here) Do you tank with the same style in every mission? What I mean is, my namesake- Bench- is a Inv tank. When I'm running a Kahn my tanking style is getting in Nazi State's face and staying there. His SS attacks don't bother me, so I can concentrate on Holding him in place by punchvoke and doing Some DPS.
If I even tried that with say GW on a STF.. I'd probably cause a team wipe or at least cause major death. There I just gotta stay at range and Taunt (with the occasional ranged attack like Hurl slotted for Taunt). Do I like it? Not really, but it's what the situation calls for. Not every encounter can nor should be handled the same, and some missions will reduce certain ATs roles- thats true in any MMO. I guess what I'm trying to say is- it's not bad design if certain encounters reduce certain roles- it's simply the way it is.... You'll never (or VERY rarely) get a mission that will engage every AT and every style, just doesn't happen that way. Apex just may not be "your cuppa tea" (man I hate using sayings like that). I think that's part of why they designed Two Incarnate TFs, to encompass as many styles as they could- run & gun, stand and fight, etc. -
Quote:Good idea with the leash.. hadn't considered that idea. I agree that the clones spawn way too fast now.. maybe lower their HPs to compensate? (use the 1 hp mobs that you get in Praetoria during this "infinite ambush" missions?)I would have changed Trapdoor by giving him a leash that prevented him from being pulled back into the hall, but limiting the range of the buff he gets from his clones, so he could still be moved out of range of some of them. This way there's no disadvantage to being on a low/medium AT whose forte is repositioning mobs.
As far as I can tell, the clones now have infinite range. And he spawns them much too often, giving attackers who must defeat him by killing each as they spawn too little time to actually beat on the boss.
But I fear the LOL L2P U SUK crowd. They're a lot scarier than Battle Maiden, and I don't want them here.
I agree with fearing the L2P crowd, but they are as much a staple of MMOs as loot sadly. We got spoiled in this game as they haven't really shown up in PvE. With the Incarnate content they might be a bit more frequent, we'll just have to learn to ignore them more -
Quote:Wow.. can you be a little more condescending if you try? Once I had to start moving, I shifted to "protecting" the 2 Blasters from all BM's minions that were still running around. I could run in, beat on Maiden herself a bit before she focused on me and the Blue Death dropped. I knew that wasn't helping much (and my End Drains were doing nada, but that was to be expected) so I went into a protect role. Glamourous? Nope.. but it allowed the ranged toons to keep up blasting. The way agro was working in that mission, I was able to pull clumps of Mobs off the squishies and drag them way out of sight- then AoE them and go back for more.Benchpresser:
So you figured out how to avoid the patches. Great. How much were you able to actually contribute to the TF after that? Or were you just a warm body, or even a "leech"?
Most of my characters slated to become incarnates are melee. I would like to bring more to the fight than taunts and my Nemesis staff.
The point is, if you are only focused on 1 thing or 1 role (lets say DPS on the AV for this mission)- it's going to be a lot harder. -
To quote some of the more.... rabble-rousing posts on this thread- "And so it begins". What begins ils that people ***** and moan about virtually everything released in this game but offering NOTHING to counter it with. I've run Apex just once.. on a melee toon (elec/elec/energy Brute). The Blue Zones killed me a few times till I figured out the "warningo" signs.. then all I did was keep Superspeed on and.. move. (shocking tactic I know) Same EXACT tactic I would do on an ITF to get out of LoS of Romy's Nictii buddies when they rez him. In other words.. I learned how to adapt to a tactic using an already established (BY THE GAME) action.
The thing that has me shaking my head is.. people have been screaming for endgame content (rightly so...). Now.. shouldn't endgame content be tougher then anything else in the game???? People complained that the Reichsman SF/TF (again, rightly so) was nothing mobre then beating on a HUGE bag.'o Hit Points for a long time. That shouldn't be under anyone's definit.ion of fun! So what does the Dev team do? Create a challenge within .the existing framework of the game tahat doesn't require just standing there and hitting it over and over and over. (OK, all MMO's requi re that.. but you get my point.)
Apex is challenging just enough. you need to change from the way you've playned the game, as (without sounding cheesy) this IS a whole new level. Wue have all heard the same old whining at every "high-end" TF- oh its not fun it's too hard. Then less then 2 months later there are speed runs. The same will happen here, only slower due to the special requirements needed for the TFs.
Oh.. something else about Apex. BECAUSE of the requirements of the TF.. is it any wonder that its barely getting run 2 weeks out compared to a LGTF that's been out for what.. 3 years now? The idea the the 'jury' is in on Apex and no one plays it because of that observation is a nonsensical conclusion and argument.
(one last thing.. I'm not a fanboi/apologist.. I do think Trapdoor was handled extremely poorly even if he is still VERY soloable. Personally I would have liked to see him able to be dragged out but divide his regen in half, so even out of LoS he would still benefit from the clones, just not as much) -
Honestly.. after the trainwreck of "Fallen" I couldn't care less what Bay does- he's a no talent hack that tries to cover his failings with MORE EXPLOSIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! crap. (as for the money made by "Fallen"... all I can say is .. sheep to the slaughter)
I do think Megs took the Semi form to mock OP. The Teaser Trailer was interesting.. is it me or the bot shown in it look suspiciously like Alpha Trion? -
I admit I've only run Tip missions on my 50s, but I like most of them. My favorites are the Villain versions of "Uqua: Dead or Alive" and "A broken Jaeger". The Uqua one for 2 things- it feels very villainous and opportunistic raiding a Rikti base while everyone is distracted, and 2- any time I get to smack Flamebeaux around I'm a happy camper.
The Nemesis one is a blast for 2 words....SHOCK TREATMENT!!!!!!!! The first time she yelled "For my Toothbrush!" I lost it.
