My friend says he's being cheated out of the character slot he would have gotten in November or so.
Technically he's missing the November reward I believe, but he should also have enough Paragon Points banked (they started accumulating 7/1 I believe, 400 per month) to pick up 5 new slots in the market for "free". Also, they have said that the tier 9 VIP rewards will be rotated oput regularly- I wouldn't be surprised to see "extra" slots as a VIP Tier 9 reward.

Also while I assume it will still be per character and not per account can this be officially confirmed.

Btw the way I understand it is the tokens you receive WILL be applied to the rewards you have already unlocked. So you will not have the FREEDOM to select what you wish to take with previous rewards only with the future tokens you receive.

Another question I have is since certain vets will be screwed out of the city traveller now that travel is available at lvl 4 what do we receive in place of the city traveller reward? Oh please more chest emblems that never get used like the Greek symbol!!!!
All your respecs already used are still gone, the system still flags them redeemed. And the respecs should be per toon.

Bad attempt at sarcasm aside, under the new system you still need to fill up every "slot" in a Tier before moving to the next Tier- wether you use the reward or not. And yes, all the slots will be auto-filled in for rewards you've already recieved.

I don't see how you are getting "screwed" out of City Traveller anything. If you already have the reward, you now get it 2 levels EARLIER. And if you were not even close to the reward, you are getting something years ealy...

The only thing missing would be the badge itself, and I'm sure that is being made aware to the Devs in Beta.

Nice to see the devs are giving us a real street fighting set. The alternate animations for Martial Arts were okay, but they still didn't look very "street fighting" to me. Looked more like a "right handed boxer" set.

Hopefully the set looks as cool as it sounds.
There was a leaked Staff Fighting set- and from the looks of the animations and the fact that the Mods went around NUKING every link to it lends to it's legitimacy. Hit me up with a PM for more info.

There are some differences; they're supposed to look more sinister and corrupt than Primal DE, if you can believe it. I can't seem to find the design article on that, though.

    What's 'generic'?
The Defense costumes look generic without being bland. What I mean is they look like a nice "basecoat" to build a costume on- I kinda like that.

EDIT: OK.. if that's the AVATAR OF HAMI in the Underground Trial.. Great Googly Moogly!!!!!!

I went from thinking I could stockpile points since I already have sands of mu and such, to now thinking that most of my tokens will be used up re-unlocking most of these things (buying all slots in order to advance) and that my 72 month progress will only be incrementally further in the new system (with the best stuff just out of arms reach... unless I find a few barrels of cash to stand on!)
You pretty much have it correct. I'll be an 84 month Vet when Freedom launches. By the formula, I will have 35 points then. Here's where it gets annoying- 34 of those points will be auto-filled in for me. I won't have any say in it- the first 8 Tiers will be auto-unlocked for me immediately. So I'll basically have 1 point to spend on Tier 9 or Tier 9 VIP.

This is what I have an issue with.. the 84 month vets should have a couple more points to spend!!

  11. Typed defense is actually easier to get then positional because the sets are soo cheap (well most). You may need to tweak a build a bit more with typed Defense but on my DB/EA Brute I'm hitting numbers in the 50s to S/L and the 40s for F/C. My Neg/Psi are the lowest in the low 30s.

I have a long forgotten MA/Nin Stalker- I just don't like click Mez Protection but the set is one of the best performers because its a jack of all trades.

Ice is going to be interesting with Energy Absorption and CE. Hell it even has a auto Resist power for the Steadfast unique. I have a feeling a DM/Ice stalker will be sick.

  13. Technically it is a prequel to the John Carpenter version- the Dutch station was the 1st to find the ship. If you remember Carpenter's version opened with a Husky being chased by a copter trying to kill it. The dog was the Thing.

This is apparently the story of the Dutch station, so take it as you will, we all know how it ends.
  14. I want to first say Muon, great post. It is well spelled out and nicely put. That being said- I think you and all the others who want Ill for Doms better get used to the idea that the set will get nerfed when it's ported. And the reason is Phantom Army plain and simple- that power is beyond stupid broken. It overshadows the entire rest of the set the way the old Drain Psyche used to overshadow psi assault. It is ridiculously overpowered to the point of why bring anything else?

I grit my teeth every time I go to join a RSF or a Barraccuda or Kahn and I hear "oh, we need a ill" or "we have a ill/whatever we are set" It's almost to the point of insulting. Why do you think PA was nerfed in the Hami Raids? Tanks were completely sidelined by that power. Let me repeat that- an entire AT was sidelined by 1 power. If that's not the definition of broken I dunno what is!

If they simply made PA able to be hurt/killed it would balance the power I think.

Also I think you are exactly right as to why Illusion wasn't ported this time- The animation gteam was busy. Group Invisibility has to be removed from the Dom Version but there isn't anything easily put in place. I say GI need to be yanked because no other Dom primary has a buff power, why should this one. I suppose they could have replaced it with a recolored Gravity AoE Immob.. but thats a disservice and they obviously don't want to go that route.

This is ridiculous that doms are supposed to sit quietly and wait for whatever 'exciting' news comes their way in a few months. Meanwhile everyone else gets to play with new sets. Hurray!

And if it's some new control set, you know it'll be shared with controllers, who'll then have 9 primaries to our 8 and something like 11 secondaries to our 8. So they'll have yet another bone thrown their way.

I'm tired of having to wait for new sets until either blasters or controllers get theirs. Therefore, I am protesting this proliferation news.
Honestly, can I have some cheese with that whine? A while back, Sunstorm explained the problems with Dark for Doms-

Here's the text of the post-

"Actually Synapse and I have been puzzling over the dark sets. Just for fun, I'll shed some light on the subject.

So, lets start this with a riddle, since the explanation is just as incomprehensible. Why does Dark Miasma overlapping Dark Control powers make a straight port of Dark Manipulation problematic?

The explanation is, there are a couple powersets that would be sharing an interesting combination of powers. For example, Controllers want Dark Control and Dark Miasma, except Dark Miasma is already a very control heavy set which would supply a lot of Dark Controls powers. Combining Dark/Dark this way could lead to a lot of overalap.

Dominators would want Dark Control and Dark Assault, so Dark Assault would have to be careful not to include control powers from Dark Blast or Dark melee.

Blasters are easier, however the powers that go to blasters would likely be included in Dark Assault, which goes opposite dark control.

Then there are the general AT wide no-no's. Such as: giving armor powers to non-armored classes, or overlapping powers alread in patron pools.

So in the end, it's not designing one powerset. It's designing 3 different powersets:

    Dark Control/Dark Miasma for Controllers
    Dark Control/Dark Assault for Dominators
    Dark Blast/Dark Manipulation for Blasters

Well, that's enough "dark" for several posts. And no, nothing is in the works yet."

That was posted 7/23/09 and obviously things got pushed around with GR. BUT- my point is this, it looks like they've succeded in designing the Blaster component- so Doms will be after that then Controllers. My guess is That After I21, Doms get Dark/Dark, and new sets. THEN controllers will get Dark Control but not a Dark secondary. I'm willing to wait on that.

And for the record, I hope Illusion never gets ported or it's one of the Last sets to go- it's a really poor control set that disguises chaos and uncontrollable pets as "control".

BTW- here's a link to the post itself-

I favor Defenders conceptually for some reason, but not entirely sure why.

So I'm just wondering your thoughts on it. Or anyone else's. I am truly stumped.

Bah, go away for a weekend and miss a question! OK- as others have said, the buff numbers will be better for a Thermal Defender. The Biggest selling point for me is, unlike Cold Thermal gets it's debuffs at the end of the set. So getting Heat Exhaustion and Melt Armor at 26 & 32 rather then 35 & 38 will make a HUGE difference, solo and team-wise for me.

I still think it's a bit too americanized but we'll see how it develops.
Fox wanted the property but tried to strongarm Davies in to making Jack strictly straight, absolutely no hint of bisexuality. Davies (rightly) refused point blank, insisting that the sexuality was an integral component of the character. So Davies walked away from Fox. Starz pretty much gave him a budget and said "it's your show, you know what works, have at it"

Envenom and Weaken get small aoe affects equal to 1/2 the debuff on the original target.

    Akaloid has been buffed.

Poison Traps initial Sleep Component has been swapped for a hold.

Noxious Gas has been replaced with Venomous Gas- a PBAoE toggle that significantly weakens foes around the user.
