These are exactly the kinds of things a low level toon can do as well as a high level one. Level has very little benefit in the market, outside some additional slots.

2 Million might be possible, but for me, picking a good AE mission to play sometimes takes 30 minutes . If I already knew a mission to play, I likely am not a new player and have influence available to transfer. So this is mostly an academic exercise.
  2. Ideas like this make me wish, The University and Wentworth's were like Studio B, an be a power suppression area (although Walk does work).

I like the idea out logging off with a bang, the abuse potential is pretty high. But no worse that the people spaming fortunes on you while leveling up at a trainer or seaching for salvage to sell at Wentworths.

    3. Must be reasonably repeatable by anyone at any time.
    4. You have exactly 30 consecutive minutes from first spawning.
Rule #3 means no using special events (candy canes), booster pack powers (Ninja Run), VEATs or HEATs, vet powers, etc. It also means getting an incredibly lucky drop doesn't count. The goal is to come up with a method that anyone can use fairly reliably to earn a lot of Inf on a level 1 char.
The only way that would be would be via the AE and use Tickets to sell things in AE. Only thing worthwhile outside are random drops and not repeatable, but even selling things in AE would be a little random, and would be lower it the items sold start flooding the market.

If you could do it repeatable, expect a quick nerf to follow.

Basic money making schemes in MMORPGs for low level characters is selling things to high level characters that low level players can get as easy or easier than high level character. Rare Low level salvage and event items fit that bill very well and usually are the springboards to early wealth for a character.

Yes, but they cannot use enhancement storage tables.
    Thanks for answers.

Not using storage is actually good., that way the base can be opened up, My daughters is all archane, mine all tech, so we can each work towards getting a single work room with tables.

Granted, without him this game never would have happened. Still, I've been much happier since Matt Miller took over.
That idea works great when still in development, and early testing (which should be a about fixing bugs, not tuning). But once people that have a feel for the game and its intent, not listening to the people playing the game is simply stupid.

People that are good at developing MMORPG and those are that are good at running and improving them are very different skill sets. So my hats off to Jack for have the stubbornness to get CoH out, and Matt for polishing the game to a shine. Both are needed.

Back to subject of dragons, I really want my lizard/dragon character to wear a santa hat, but sadly you cannot get monsterous heads with hats. IMHO a big hole, then the problem with belts and tails using same slot, and tails are just not upto the standard of the rest of the model being stiff, it really conflicts with the wings awesome animation.

BTW, my older daughter who is in college for graphics design and usually not impressed by animations, Saw the demon wings animated on my char, and commented "Wow" that is nice, not enough to play though, she is a Single player RPG die-hard.
  6. I have a couple questions about coalitions?

    1) how many super groups can be in a coalition?
    2) I see a coalition can enter a another supergroup base, can they use transporters, workbenches, and such?

My daughter and I have each made a one man super group and enjoyed setting up our bases. And wonder how bid a group I could make of single player super groups, with the idea on instead of having one base with all the teleporters needed, have a group with each base its own destination.

I am not sure how many people are interested in having all their players have in their own supergroup, I personally like having my own pad asnd really not interested in the politics that arise from multi-player supergroups.

Final question, any one else interested in forming a coalition of single player supergroups? Not with help if you get 10 characters in a supergroups you will have enough prestige to build a basic base with a single transporter, work table, salvage storage, and med bay.

I am on Virtue, but the questions are to all servers.
  7. I am lost here. Top hat and monocle? Are these different than the ones on character screen. My character "The Marketmaker" has his pinstripe suit, monocle and top hat, from level 1, and was made with trial account.
  8. Easy, Join a Winterlord event, sell the 20 candy canes at Wentworth's for 100K each. The Winter event has dynamic level mobs, so the level 1 has as much power as level 50, much few attacks and midigations though, so you get knocked back and frozen often, But no XP debt. Strangley you only get about 6 XP for the kill though.

You also get 8 merit to buy something to sell consignment.

As of outside events, much depends on you luck at salvage drops. But the AE and reselling items purchased for Tickets might work. But if too many people did this the market would adjust. I ran a fress new character through a series of of AE missions, and emeged at level 12 with capped tickets (9999) in less than 3 hours. an had enough influence to just buy all my level 15 enhancements
  9. I am think pretty set on influence, thanks to aggressively collecting and selling candy canes (and mask during halloween) I have about 20 million influence on each of my level 20's. Might actually need to buy a set of winter's gift enhancements.

Where would I find info on "Frankenslotting"
  10. I just did this as well as my daughter, each with our own mini-base. You will need about 220K influence to build a basic operatational base (See my post, base building on the cheap),

You will need a friend to help you out. Establish the supergroup with any character over level 10,

Regruit your friend to supergroup, and raise them to next to to rank.

Then log in to with each character and have your friends toon invited them and promote them as far as they can (second to highest rank). You must do this while online.

once you have your characters in SG, you can kick your friend with the founder, if you want, or just leave them in place, for later additions to your group.

You may want to do the same for your friend for thier super-groups. If you do remember to save one character for that purpose.

You get 20K prestige for each member so 9 heroes + your friend gives the 200K you need to get a minimal base going. With the current free server moves I moved all my heroes (and to be heroes with GR) to one server and all my villians (and to be villians with GR) to another. This helped get enough heroes in one place to get the base prestige to get the base up and running. Set your characters to Supergroup mode and forget it, You will not make much influence, but the amount of influence you get from selling salvage in Wentworths will be make the collected killing mobs insignificant.

I also recommend setting up Coalitions with all your friends so you can visit each others bases. Having a cool base is no fun if no one can visit.

(alternate idea, get second account for a month, load up your supergroup with mules for the 20K and ability self join, then retire the account until you need a re-orginization, but that verges on an exploit, so I really don't recommend it, plus I am cheap and don't want to spend any more real money than I must)
  11. I went with the Basic 4 room base

    8x8 plot - free.
    2x2 Entrance Room - Free
3x3 Control Room - Work Desk, Combo Unit, and Savage Storage (90K)
    2x2 Med Bay, with Ring = (60K)
2x1Telport Bay with crafted teleporter (50K)

    Total Building Cost = 200K

I blocked off all but 1x3 of the Control room to make the entire base cozy. Set the style to a red-brick, and gave it a recover warehouse look and decided to go with tech and plants with at little touch of oriental.
    About 10-15K of decorations.

Currently saving up for proper Workrooms, but the base is now fully functional for a supergroup of 1 player. With coalitions, it makes it much more useful.
  12. If I slot the Winter's Gift (currently level 25) how many levels is the buff good for. Do go away at level 29, like normal enhancements?
  13. I am quite amazed that the candy canes have been so stable. Seldom selling for less than 75K or more than 100K (I have a buy at high as 10 million though, not sure what they thinking).

Its nice to come back from a successful Winter Lord run and collect 1 - 2 Million Influence for 15 minutes of work (especially for a level 15 character)

I can buy that, but seems odd that they would want people hording enhancements.

I have severe Altitis, so I am constantly changing characters, playing one for a couple days, then switching to other. I was looking for a easier way to get them from one character to another. The character, that I want a respect, is not very good at getting canes, passing them to them using the base was a failure.

An event salvage only container would be nice, just for ones that need large numbers of collectables. But in the grand scheme of things, its real low priority.

    Thanks for the info though.
  15. I thinks this predated Internet. When a caveman was promoted to chieftain, people said Congrats.

I have been playing MMORPG since before they were called MMORPGs, AOL's NWN, and there was "Congrats!" there too, early 90's.
  16. I have a Level 25, Fire/Fire Scrapper, Smoken Ashes, that I chose to go with a Teleport as Travel skill and Hover is more for show (character never walks) and I like taking my time while moving about. I use Teleport Foe as my sole range attack (and dropping mobs off buildings) If I had vet reward I would drop this in an instant.

Currently I have fight speed in hover and Swift (from fitness) and I can usually chase down running foes in hover. While I would like it to be faster and I can get where I want instantly with Teleport (within 100 yards). Teleport is slotted with a Endurance Reduction.

My question is how should I improve this?
Should I add slots to any power, currently all are at one (or to swift). While Adding range to Teleport would be nice, I don't see to much problem jumping only 100 yards a hop, and it makes it easy to calculate how many hops I will need.

Or should I just leave it and focus on my primary and secondary powers?

(btw: Endurance is three slotted with SO Endurance Modifiers, and is my only addition slot on auxilary power pool)
  17. Why was the salvage storage set so low (30) and it stacks? Where enhancements and insperations don't stack and they are 100. The salvage was 30 stacks, I could see, but a 30 it will not even hold all my Backstreet Brawler Gloves in a single case, I could not store all my candy cane in all my cases and I don't even have enough for a respec (500) yet.
  18. I recommend a Shaman/Paladin.

As for a best type for Coh. All depends on what defines "Best"

    How are looking a best?
Fastest to Kill even level Mobs?
    Fastest to kill Bosses?
    Fastest to rack up XP?
    Fastest to kill Mob Groups?
Least Likely to Die fighting hard hitters?
Least Likely to Due Fighting X type enemy?
    PvP or PvE?

    Social Values?
    Easiest to Play?
    Easiest to Get in Groups?
    Easiest to Play Solo?
    What plays with minimal involvement?
What plays with the most interaction?
Least Likely to cause (or get blamed) for a group wipe?
    Has the best looking Powers?

    Then when Are they best?
    Strongest at early levels?
Earliest to get to full power?
Strongest without relying on expensive enhancements?
    Strongest with expensive requirement?

    Then economics?
    What gets the cheapest Enhancements?
    What needs the least Insperations?

Depending on answers to above will determine which plays the best. Some classes start of incomplete and take to higher levels to really get feel for them, Controllers for example. yet some like Scrappers play pretty much the same from level 1 to level 50, just get more and more moves.

One thing I really miss in other MMORPG that Coh Has, it that MOBs never (very rarely) spawn in view. So many of the simple key sequence combo repeated will not work in CoH.

The odd thing is I cannot even get my G15 to work with CoH outside its normal keyboard functions.

The G15 (and G11, G13, G19 and G110) all support LUA scripting which can be used to violate the EULA. However, most of the macro use, like recording a non reporting attack sequence does not seem any worse than a fancy bind, that swaps out bind profiles. And binds like hover/fly set

One restriction that the G15 is that it is NOT multi-threaded, so you can't have multiple macros going at once. and you cannot get external inputs, like links to network controllers and such.

I have used a G15 for work and play for years. I like the fact that I can quickly program "/broadcast WL in Copper District" quickly so repeating it only takes one key. I really have not set down and used it for COH beyond standard keyoard features. I have not master the game that well, then game with its slows and hastes really makes any timing based macros pretty much worthless.
  21. How much prestige will be needed to get a simple base going that my characters will share? (A single player/multi-character SG)

Just want a common place to store enhancements, insperations and salvage and a simple medical setup to re-enter instances. 8x8 plot will be enough, and I would like to keep rent to a mininum.

Would like to be able to later max out storage, but other than that I don't really have much needs.

What are the basics and the costs?
  22. I had that happen, where the first page slot that the character moved from was marked unavailable, and a "create character" slot opened on second page.

"IN GAME" rifles are 150ft base, 600 yards would be across many maps and outside drawing range. In any case giving pistols the range of rifles would be incorrect.

To me a Blaster is bad match for Pistol Primary. Pistols are about getting out deadly force quickly, not accurately, which is more in a scrapper playstyle. Blasters are more nuke em all and let the courts sort it out and hit them before they know your there. Neither fit well with pistols.

I can see why they did not add pistols to start, they are in the in between area of range attacks and melee. Giving them to masterminds with low direct damage did not cause much damage, since few actually will use them as a primary attack.

Edit: adding a (short range) pistols secondary would we a great addition as well. and would fit will in a blasters playstyle

Now having a new "Gunslinger" AT with Both Range (shorter range than blasers) and some Melee attack/defense might be interesting as well and could open the door for some interesting hero types. Many Comic Book heroes would fall in that class.
  25. Critter Mastermind would be fun. I don't think it would fly because of all the new animations, COH does not have animals.

Snake Charmer (MM) might be a interesting twist, but would need something on the high end. (Thinking end of Conan Movie for Top end MM power)

As for powers, I like to see a Acidic Slime where attacks slows and cause DoTs. Might even have a Healing componant when used on self, and give high resistance to fire.
