Quote:Well it depends on if he means Primal or Praetorian Hamidon. Given the Shivans are attacking Primal Earth, the former seems most likely. The chances of that happening are close to zero - like mnus 5 or so
This would open up the plotline of Primal Hamidon's minions falling silent... only to then fall under the control of Praetorian Hamidon.
OH SHI-!!! -
Quote:As long as this forum is linked in my signature, it is never truly dead.Hear Hear is this a Dead thread? There are lots of cool ideas and I wonder if they are planning any thing regarding the ideas given here. Some developer acknowlagemelnt would be cool even if it is to say that changes here will be a long time coming.
I would be interested to hear what thought got any one there talking as a cool possibility even if invisible at the present time. Or to say that ideas here have generated some interest and cool things are in the pipeline.
Now personally, I kind of wish we could have gotten a Galaxy city revamp without it being trashed, but i'll move on... I also wish they had used a googie architectural theme for the zone, if only because it seems so damn fitting. -
Quote:Well, given just how huge it does seem, it may actually have a pretty huge level range, like 20-40.We still dont know the lvl range of the First Ward, right?
My bet is on 20-30, as it make sense expanding the Praetorian storyline, even if we got plenty of that levels content.
Looks like a BIG zone, with Mother's hospital, Diabolique's Tower, SS (Sorcerer Selene) and her Praetorian Snakes... Also Carnival of Legacy Banished lights!
Lots of stuff for a zone it seems.
Freedom cant come soon enough!
That or my money would put it as a 30+-50. -
Hell, look at Statesman's degeneration.
He goes from squaring off dramatically against his sworn archvillain, to getting put behind his evil, goatee self who's been getting hyped more than he ever has, and now he doesn't even fight and AV, that's an A or BCU, they're Lieutenants at best!
So now Statesman has to put all his dramatic power behind fighting an enemy even PCs can slaughter wholesale in the Maria Jenkins arcs. -
-
We also need a clock chest detail.
Though frankly, I hope to be able to recreate Nox from Wakfu. -
Quote:I hear they're also planning for voice acting. Sammy L Jackson will be voicing BAB's new dialogue, though it will result in the ESRB age rating to go from T to M.*I'm hoping his model will get a revamp too - his shades need to be reflective now
*M is for Manly
On another note: I am saddened they decided to just trash Galaxy City completely and use it for a new Tutorial Zone... I mean I have characters that live there in their RP life. -
Hmmm...
-Honor?
-Ascendant?
-Creed? (That was other people on the other servers can shout "CREEEEEEEEEEEED!" when trolled)
-Tomorrow? -
Quote:I concur, I'm kind of excited about this, but it feels kind of vague.I think we need a little bit more clarification on this "logo" notion. How is the logo intended to be "used" ...? Are we talking about something to use as a Wallpaper, or just merely a Forum Avatar? Is this supposed to be something that people "install" in their bases in a show of solidarity and support ... or is it just a "oh that looks cool" sort of thing?
In this case, it helps to know exactly HOW this "logo" is intended to be used, because that informs decisions about presentation, and scale. Kinda hard to use a glorious 1920x1200 screenshot as a 100x100 pixel avatar, and not lose something in the process.
Basically ... what are the "boundaries" on this "logo" you're looking for? -
Quote:These two quotes some it up pretty well.Quote:Occam's Razor says ... they're just badly designed from the get-go.
Remember, the Ninja Primary powerset was designed by Geko and signed off on by Statesman back in the Issue 4-6 days ... not by Castle, and most definitely not by Black Scorpion. I'm thinking it's a far safer bet to say that Ninjas ... and Mercenaries(!) ... were just horribly, horribly designed to begin with, and they've had the fundamentals of the game they operate in changed out from under them (Global Defense Nerf, Enhancement Dysfunction, Inventions, Incarnates, Pets Ignore Recharge, Mothership Raids, Modern Hamidon Raids, etc. etc. etc.) and they've just never been brought back into alignment with how things ACTUALLY work in the game we've got today. Ninjas and Mercenaries are essentially "legacy" powersets that not only never kept up with the times, but which have been pretty much "left behind" as the game has continued to advance into the future.
In fact, the dev should have re-evaluate recharge time in some of pet attacks when they decided to get rid of them. The pet AI change benefits some pets (like Fly Trap and Genin) that have a mix of range/melee but for pets like Soldiers, they are 95% range so the AI change only makes them worse by forcing one or two pets go melee.
My own proposal to fix ninjas would have been to up the Genin and Oni base defense of 13.90% defense (which could go up by 1.60% by level fifty), give Jounin an 15% (+1.80 by 50) and give them all Phalanx Fighting passive from Shield Defense. This would convey them working as a group and subvert that stupid "inverse law of ninjutsu" cliche, as well as given them good survivability when they're all out.
Also, while maybe not needed by this point, I would suggest giving the Oni O2 Boost and/or gale/hurricane. The reason for this being that it's always bugged me how the Oni's description says he's a "warrior of WIND and fire." but we never really see much in the way of the former part. -

Well, not quite a flesh out idea, but basically this was inspired by Redacted Wars 2's concept of a home instance, requests for individual character lairs, and the Villa from Redacted Creed 2.
In this case, this would basically be a small section of a city/city/village/little spot in the world that could serve as both your tutorial area, starting area, and sort of an activity hub. I called the idea: "Home Turf Instance"
You could choose your Home Turf from a list of various places/cities in the world that need a hero to help them, or a villain to show everyone who's boss, each could have a theme about them to fit your hero or villain.
After running your tutorial you could then begin investing in this home turf to bring it from it's semi-rundown state into a jewel of opulence, or let it fall into greater disrepair, there are actually advantages and themes to both.
Building your Home Turf into a Jewel would bring all manner of NPC services to the Home Turf, even ones that might not be found normally in-game at higher levels. Thematically, this is to show a hero really progressing in bringing about change to that corner of the world. For villains its meant to show you're either not such a badguy (similar to how Mafia do not tolorate @#$% on their turf), making a long term investment, or maybe you just want to rob classy places and not a dive, plus, being in good standing with the locals (or having a good bribe deal with the authorities) means its always a place you can lay low.
By letting it decay, you can attract dynamically leveled content into your neighborhood, and all manner of opportunities await when you can rough up a local arms dealer for some temp powers. (maybe what you can get from either a run-down home turf or metropolis one isn't so different afterall)
For heroes, this would be for vigilante types, basically exploiting their Home Turf to be sort of trap, lure them all in and knock'em own in one place. Villains, they just might not care enough about the place and not mind it becoming a wretched hive of scum and villainy, and with so many more villains around, it stays a safe place to lay low.
So... there's my ambitious little concept. -
Quote:There's not even three colors, it's just how two colors on the gloves and boots that match the top, and the top is two colors and a tops with skin. (though those are normally only one color)Rush to release, I'm guessing. But seriously... there's no excuse for this; I could make a tights texture that matched the concept art in ten minutes, tops - probably more like five. She's an NPC, so the fact that there's three colors on her tights is a nonissue.

Quote:What would I call my CorrDoMind besides that then? What he is in RP of course: Sorcerer. (I really think it is what would fit a magical EAT, a blend offense, support, control, and pets)And a general name and description for these ATs? While Cordomind is an interesting blend of the name Corruptor, Dominator and Mastermind, it's not particularly descriptive of the nature of the AT for someone not familiar with the roots of the name
Another of my examples would be an Elec/Regen/Mu Stalker. Probably in name alone, I'd call him a 'Hunter'. Maybe because he's a type of 'cat-man' and uses his senses to hunt down his prey, but also because his signature powers are Chain Induction and Electric Shackles (get it?) and frankenslotted for strong effect. But he also relies on distractionary tactics to thrive. Sometimes he's unkillable and others on the brink of death.
The Hunter 'class' would be an ambush AT that relies on control and tactics for maximum survival. Either strong ambush attacks or powers used for trapping are available along with a series of short term self survival abilities for the times you're cornered.
Note: If you noticed, I don't mention Hide/stealth because, on a Regen, Hide is sort of hit-or-miss. Sometimes you can sneak up on something, sometimes you're just out of luck. -
Quote:This is a very good example of seeing concept art for a game... and then seeing the actual game itself.For reference, here is that concept art;
vs
Yeah, slight degredation in concept there. And couldnt she at least get some better hair? Really?
I do kind of wonder why they degraded the design so much when it seems to mostly be a textual difference. -
My ice/dark/(and eventually)soul mastery corruptor, as you might guess by amount of controls in each of those sets, earned him the nickname from me: "The pseudo dom"
it gets muggier when he's going to end up with at least four pets between dark servant, a fortunata pet, and his lore pet, making him into some kind of cordomind? -
Quote:I think in bobcat's case that might have been the point. Somehow, betyween issues 1-18, Neuron may well have lobotomized her, given her implants, and effectively turned her into a generic catgirl for his own... interest. If we're talking about changing NPCs' costumes, I'm going to call attention to Black Swan as well - like Bobcat, I think she was actually downgraded when GR came along, given how her appearance is now practically identical to a vast quantity of female player villains (including one of mine, only Black Swan is even more boring with her grand total of one color). I mean, seriously, it's like both she AND Bobcat were hit with the Generic Stick.

It's "Than" not "then" and it's also Medieval, not "Mid-Evil". There, you got to experience a small part of your world War II Germany. (Which could be kind of a drag. Nazi Occupied France is where it's at.)

Random note: I think the OP means Feudal Japan, not ancient.
Ancient Japan consists of the Joumon Period, the Yayoi Period, and the Kofun period, ending with the rise of the Asuka period which began Classical Japan. -
Quote:Actually, we do have something close in Demon Summoning's Ember demon/Hellfire Gargoyles, though that may be a cheat of a different sort like with beast run.The standard answer is we just can't as sadly the only skeleton avail. ingame is bipedal.
From what I recall, it would be such a huge undertaking to create and animate a 4 legged skeleton that they just won't bother unless the payoff is equally as large.
While I still hold out hope we'll eventually get a 4 legged model in game I seriously doubt if they ever cracked that nut the only thing they'd use it for would be a single GM. I'd expect them to populate an entire zone with them.
(Hint hint give me Dinosaurs to fight pretty please...)
Personally though, if they did proliferate that sort of tech/animation across NPCs, I can think of a few good ones that could use it:
- Council/Column/Halloween Werewolves
- Devouring Earth Devoured
- Tuathua Dannan (Possibly)
- Something in the Soldier of Rularuu
- Rikti Monkeys (so they can do more than just hop) -
Nice as this all would be, there's still one major hump to overcome on this camel's back beyond just using the "reverse weapon" graphics tech used by Maelstrom: Players have access to more types of the same weapon than NPCs.
Maelstrom never changes his guns because he is a loser and does not believe in using other costume slots (likely because he failed those missions), and we only see him with his trademark guns which we see in his holsters.
PCs on the otherhand, for Broadsword alone there are no less than 21 different customization options, and that counts the legacy and color tintable broadswords as the same, and nearly all of them have different hilts, hilts that would/should be poking out of the scabbard, and would fit very differently into different scabbards.
The legacy broadsword and Valkyrie broadsword are definitely not going to be able to use one sheath because of very clear design differences.
But all in all, I'm all for scabbards, holsters, and such, and really don't care if they're functional or not. Hell, half of my characters are supposed to be keeping plenty of weapons on them, swords, knives, guns, bombs, laser-cats, and not all of them would get use in every fight. -
Quote:I'm not sure they really do need head protection, I just felt States would look cool with a Corinthian helmet.Eh, States costume is pretty much ok, I think. He's a creature of habit, and the CG renders look great.
In game, all he really needs is higher quality textures and a re-render. And, yeah, him and Tyrant could both use full helmets like Imperious. It'd be safer, too.
Also if we're going to just upgrade his textures, maybe we could make the "fabric" of his shoulder mantle a bit thinner so it really so look like that cape is part of the mantle and not some sewn on extension. -
Positron and Manticore clearly know an experienced lady is the best kind of lady.
