Galaxy City Destroyed????
From the looks of the screen shots, it is the coming storm that has/will destroy it.
Pics here.

Does that mean we don't have to pay our base fees any longer?
Who do I have to *&^% around here to get more Targeted AoE recipes added?

I skipped over to the side-by-side comparisons of the new hybrid freemium model instead of reading all the way to the bottom. heh
Thanks, GG
I'm hoping for a glimpse of the new Atlas Park on the UStream broadcast today

Well, I have to say that this new tutorial area looks pretty interesting. I guess that like everything else in "Freedom", we'll have to see how it plays out.
So Atlas, Galaxy and Mercy will get an upgrade?
I know Galaxy changes are permanent, but looks like a new tutorial instead new starting area...
Also, we will have a tour in Atlas and Mercy...
I hope the early experience is upgraded, as well as the arcs and visuals.
If this means that Outbreak and Breakout are going away, then badgers who don't already have those badges should get on that.
I never start in Galaxy, this might give me a reason to.
Cancel the kitchen scraps for widows and lepers, no more merciful beheadings and call off christmas!
I think it's a mistake. As they say, you never get a second chance to make a first impression.
GC should have been made shiny like Praetoria and players should then go to a revamped Boomtown, which is mostly empty on every server. Kill two birds with one stone.

I've been out of the game for the last month and missed the Praetorian invasions entirely.
Now I'm reading that Galaxy City is (or is planned to be) destroyed? I find that much more disturbing than anything having to do with the freemium conversion. |
Maybe not "more disturbing," but I *far* prefer starting in Galaxy as opposed to Atlas.
/bets on them "forgetting" and making Warshades not have a starting contact for at least the first week after.
As a vocal Redsider, I'm all for the destruction and proliferation of Blueside zones.
It reads as though there will be just one starting zone and it will be the destroyed Galaxy City. The biggest issue I see is that people don't like gloomy zones as much as the shiny nice ones. One of the reasons people frequently give for not wanting to play villain-side is the more gloomy feel of the zones. I just think you're going to put off a lot of new players if the first thing they see is a demolished, depressing area.
You need to keep one nice shiny starting zone, and make sure people know they have that option.

Im betting both Atlas and Galaxy are getting the new coat of pain, except Galaxy will hit a tree soon after.
"Samual_Tow - Be disappointed all you want, people. You just don't appreciate the miracles that are taking place here."

Arc #40529 : The Furies of the Earth
So far, it looks like the coat of pain will be more heavily applied to Galaxy City

Can someone fill me in on what is known about this? Galaxy Girl has always been as iconic for me as The Statesman, and I'd hate to see the Praetorians manage what the Rikti could not.
Mind you, I am NOT saying "don't do this". Meaningful results from major game lore events is one of the improvements I've been pushing for years. I wouldn't hold up my hands now and say "Wait, do it somewhere else!"
I'm just saying that I have an attachment to this place as do many players, and it will be an emotional experience to have it reduced to ruins. I hope that something new and interesting comes out of it in the long term.
