  1. If you want to use Drain Psyche as a mitigation tool rather than an end recovery tool and a regen debuff, you probably need to get more mitigation tools.

Just like Fiery Aura tankers don't just take Healing Flames to stay alive, you need other tools to get the most out of Drain Psyche. Those can be passive defense powers like Tough+Weave+APP shields, using inspirations defensively, and getting defense and health bonuses from IO's.

No end recovery until 35 = chugging blues or resting all of the time due to the toggles you are having to run to have some semblance of survivability. My elec brute is currently stuck at 32 as I can't face logging her on, undoubtedly the set will shine where energy and psi are prolific, but that isn't in the teens,20's or 30s that I've found. I've also seen every brute I've ever done ITF with chewed up and spat out by Cimeroans, unless they use powersurge.
Well, Power Surge isn't the only way to stay alive. Besides IO's, you have inspirations(you don't need blues, more room for oranges and purples), temp powers(Kinetic Dampener, Eye of the Magus/Demonic Aura, Combat Shield), using your powers wisely(healing and draining at the right time), and generally not getting in over your head.

My SS/Elec Brute has no problems separating himself from the team in the ITF, to kill cysts and clear towers solo. He doesn't fit your cheap build restriction, though.

I like the idea of shaving a second off of Fortitude's cast time.

Sometimes I spam my Immob to keep the baddies clustered for Lightning Storm.

    Halp! lol
Ageless should be enough. Do some calculations, and see if you bottom out of endurance in 60 seconds with 100% extra recovery.
  5. Here's an Elec/Elec Tanker build I have, no purps or PVP IO's, one purple to softcap.

  6. I'll just add that insps are your friends. Oranges in particular will get you to 90% S/L res without any expensive PVP IO's or Cardiac, and a single purple insp softcap build is much easier to obtain than a softcap build. Also, Spiritual+Rebirth Radial+Perma Energize is so strong for self healing, it's a good alternative to going for the S/L res hardcap, and the extra recharge will help you kill stuff faster.

And she is still killing the end. If I keep Sprint off then it is a little better, but I stress the "little". Am I pretty much waiting till 28 for Energize, then trying to get it as perma as I can? I did not take Lightning Field cuz I figured I could not afford it, but I saw on ParagonWiki that it is also an End. Mod. So is it worth it as that to take it, if I slot it for End Mod?
It gets easier on endurance once you get Energize(28), and you shouldn't have issues once you get Power Sink(35). This is one of the few downsides for Elec Armor on Brutes, it matures late.

Slotting EndMod into Lightning Field will help you drain the mobs faster, but it won't lower the endurance cost. That said, Lightning Field is still a must-have due to its damage and aggro management, but I wouldn't worry about getting it ASAP.
  10. No problems. I tweaked around with it some more to fit my tastes, and I'm proud of the results. Though it's unlikely that I'll roll one up, the build's a keeper.

  11. With some investment, Spiritual, and going for S/L instead of Melee, you can pump a lot of recharge in the build. Here are the changes I've made, though I'm not entirely happy with the endurance consumption. I think you can stay close to perma hasten without the purples.

I think it's more to do with the thread title being "Buffers rejoice!", and Empathy users(being buffers) have no reason to rejoice so we're being all bitter.

I've chosen to stay out of this argument myself, because I'm not sure we need a buff yet. I have to admit though, that I do get a little bit green(pun intended) with envy every time I see the thread title.

All of my 50's currently have T3s in Alpha, and most will progress to T4 (one may already have done so) as I continue to play them on and off.

IOW I didn't stop because I got the level shifts, I stopped because I got the T3 in the last power I needed it in at the moment.

The T4 is, in many cases, just not worth the effort. Thirty+ Empyrean Merits for a Very Rare salvage on top of everything two T3s for the marginal benefit increase.... meh. It'll happen when it happens. I'm not going to endlessly grind the same 2 (soon 3) trials for it.

And I give the price in E Merits because the devs "participation" + "random" roll is still screwy. Some characters I get Rares and VRares all the time, others.... well one poor MM is more likely to get 10 threads than anything else. And that just ticks me off because he's very powerful in normal content, and is constantly laying traps or giving orders to the bots in the iTrials. But that's another story.
So basically you're saying that T4's are mostly not worth the effort of repeating the same content over and over again, the participation system is screwy, and getting the level shifts didn't make you want to do the grind.

How would getting the level shifts earlier change any of the above?
  14. If you stopped participating in trials right after you got your level shifts, how is getting the level shifts earlier going to make things any better? They clearly aren't helping you enjoy the content.
  15. I can see the resistance bonuses lacking a bit, but the damage bonuses are fine.

I would personally like more debuff resistance IO's like Winter's Gift. Have one for endurance drain resistance, and one for -ToHit resistance.

Expensive PVP sets are slotted when they aren't needed, Incomplete purple sets at the wrong place... I'll just post my build.

  17. I'd say Thermal, due to the following:

    1. Thermal is getting a buff very soon. You won't need to buff people individually, as you could just buff everyone nearby with just one use of the power.

    2. It's a thematic fit.

    3. It has good synergy. The resistance from the shields stacks very well with the resistance from the demons.

    4. I just like Thermal over Dark in general. Permanent -regen is the main selling point for me as it fits my style of play.
  18. Peacebringers are awesome, though they are kind of weak-sauce in comparison to pretty much every other AT out there(especially Warshades).

Therefore, they are not playing in the trials as much since they got their level shifts.

Sure, they'll get to use them later, but when you get a new shiney you want to use it NOW. Moving at least one of them to Judgement or Interface would allow the player to enjoy that level shift while still making progress towards the current additional Incarnate rewards.

Frankly, I haven't even gone back to run TMII or Apex since I got my level shifts. And that IS something I'd like to do, but my time is extremely limited at present.
You missed my point, which isn't your fault since my post was kind of a lazy one-liner.

The level shifts don't take that long to get. What does take a while to get is the Tier 4's, those take much longer to obtain than unlocking Destiny&Lore and slotting the Tier 3's which give the level shifts. And even if you get the Tier 4's, Issue 20.5 is bringing a bunch of new reasons to do the trials.

In other words, by the time you get the level shifts, you still have a LOT of time to spend in the Incarnate trials.

Edit: If the incarnate trials are repetitive and boring, that's a different problem altogether and has no relation to the OP's suggestion.
  20. A level shift should be hard to get, I'm not seeing any justification for this other than "It's too hard" which in my experience isn't true.

Shield Defense has some of the same going for it. It trades the ability to softcap cheaply and easily for some resistance, max HP, and a truly awesome AoE attack (honestly, Shield definitely got the better end of that deal)
One thing people seem to forget is that SR is so easily softcapped, that you can fit a lot of other things into your build such as recharge and damage bonuses. I actually have a DB/SR build that cracks 300 DPS on paper before Reactive is considered. Shield Defense can surpass that I'd imagine, but it would require very good AAO saturation.

Fiery Melee and Kinetic Melee are actually pretty close in damage potential. Katana has a bit more potential than those due to the Achilles' heel proc, and Dual Blades has a bit more damage potential than Katana due to the top DB chain, though those two are lethal damage based. Dark Melee is also very powerful if it can fully saturate Soul Drain.
  22. You're probably not doing it right, but keep experimenting and post your build for critique.

A really basic way to go about making a build is to first make sure all your basics are covered before worrying about set bonuses. A step by step process would look like this:

    1. Pick the right powers at the right time. I believe the Blaster guides have info on all the secondaries and primaries available as well as power pools, listing which are the better powers to pick and when.

    2. Make sure you can hit your targets. In Mids, you can set your base chance to hit to simulate attacking +3's which will be the maximum con after you get a rare alpha. To do this, go to Options -> Exemping and Base Values -> set the value in the "Base ToHit" box to 45. Make sure all of your attacks are at least 95% accuracy through accuracy enhancements and set bonuses. Note: the Kismet defense set has a +6% ToHit IO in it, which is well worth the cost and will get you to your accuracy goals much more easily.

    3. Make sure you don't run out of endurance easily. As a damage dealer, you do not want to find yourself in a position you can't attack. This is primarily achieved by slotting endurance reduction enhancements in your attacks and toggle powers, and endurance modification enhancements in powers like Stamina. Other things you can do is slot the +recovery IO's from the Performance Shifter EndMod set(in Stamina), Miracle Heal set(in Health), and Numina's Convalescence Heal set(in Health). Those can take a while to obtain, however.

    4. Make sure you have enough damage in your attacks. You want to be around the 90% damage enhancement mark for your attacks. To do this you must slot damage enhancements in your attacks.

    5. Get recharge in your best Single Target attacks, Area of Effect attacks, and self damage buffs. Your best attacks(especially AoE attacks) need to be up more often, which will make you a more efficient blaster. To get more killing power you must slot recharge into them. Also, your self damage buffs are very important, and you should strive to have around 90% recharge in them. To do this you must slot recharge enhancements and go for global recharge bonuses...

    6. Get global recharge bonuses. This is where things get tricky, as IO sets come into play. Invention Origin enhancements have sets which can boost your global values for many things, ranging from extra defense and recovery to extra damage and recharge. The first thing you need to worry about is recharge, so try to get as many of those bonuses in first. Aside from IO's, you can get the Hasten power from the Speed power pool which provides a great boost to your recharge for a moderate period of time. The more global recharge you get, the more effective Hasten will become, giving you a great global recharge boost. A good goal to aim for is making Hasten recharge in close to two minutes, essentially making it "perma"

    7. If you happen to get all of the above covered, you can then go for other things from IO sets. Those can be extra defense, extra damage, extra HP, more damage procs in your powers, and more.
  23. There is a cheaper alternative to the typed defense route, and that is going for positional defense. Sets like Mako's Bite, Touch of Death, Scirocco's, and Gaussian's are pretty cheap and offer some nice HP/sec bonuses, along with very good positional defense bonuses.

There are some more expensive positional defense sets out there(Numina's, Aegis, Obliteration, Performance Shifter), but they're still cheaper than the typed defense ones.
  24. I would build for defense and recharge first, as defense is a much more significant contribution to your mitigation. Kinetic Combat is a set with +HP and +Defense, and LotG is a set with +Regen, +Recharge, and +HP. More recharge means Energize is up more often, which translates to better HP/sec.

Here's the build my SS/Elec currently has which might give you some ideas:
