The name is very appropriate to the INTENT of the book it was supposedly named after AND to the action being taken in the game.

Or if you want to talk about the silliness of not killing someone trying to use a laser blaster/machine gun/super powers/etc against you . . . Well, I would not be trying to arrest anyone in that situation. That would needlessly create a greater risk to my own life. I would take them out permanently and I am pretty sure a lot of people, probably most people agree with me.

Overall though, I was not trying to win, I just wanted people to see what I believe to be the foolishness of her arguments.
Agreed. I always thought the game lore was a bit silly in that.

But here's the main point: The lore DOES say you aren't killing them.

There's actually going to be an arc in Issue 19 about why civilians don't have hospital portal technology. And the civilians are asking for it since the Praetorian war is starting.

The way I see it is that you can use laser blaster/machine gun/super powers/etc. against your oppoentns (and them against you) and it not be a violation of the Geneva convetion precisely because in the COH universe portal technology exists. And unless I've got my COH history wrong it exists because of the MASSIVE amount of rikti the superheroes (and villains) had to battle during the first rikti invasion.

I find that to be silly, but the storyline of City of Hereos is what it is.

Both you and GG are correct for different reasons.

If they only spawned every 6 weeks with increased rewards, there'd be a lot more interest in fighting them.
    THIS part I agree with.

Monsters like Lusca, Jack in Irons, the Ghost Ship, Adamastor... all those should be once a month events at best. 6 weeks would be better. That would generate more interest when they do happen. Also, add some new badges and change the way people get the badge. Instead of your team doing the most damage in order to get the badge, just make it so that anyone who attacks the thing gets it.
Uhh the rikti ones are exceedingly rare. They can however be triggered by completing a tf. I'm fine with that and that shouldn't change.

I don't think making GMs more rare will do anything since the rewards for them are stupendously low. After you get the badge what's the incentive to fight them again?

Ritki and the Zombie are rare enough that they DON'T need to be scaled back. But I would not complain if Zombie was since it's easily triggered. Rikti are NOT easily triggered and are tied to a costume piece. DO NOT scale them back.

Honestly for Rikti I have no idea what anyone who says they are too common is talking about. I can count on one hand the number of Rikti ones I've seen since the last one that was announced, which was when the forum mods changed their names to be Rikti. Which I believe was WAY before GR beta. (I'd argue it was sometime LAST year).

The banners I couldn't care less about as I find them as fun as going for a root canal.

True. But I don't think that teaming is high on the OP's list or he wouldn't be talking about tanks and brutes. I think he's looking to solo for a great portion of his time leveling.

EDIT: also this thread has made me bite the bullet to make an ss/fire brute again.

    slot power pool

Add in on top we will get incarnates, so the future may bring changes.
Just want to comment on your last sentence as I keep seeing players say this. Incarnates aren't traditional slots in powers. They are UNIVERSAL global buffs. They do allow you to shift around what you can slot using IOs, but they are not traditional slots you put in powers.

    Just wanted to clarify that.

With that said I would not object to something like the OMEGA Incarnate Level (one of the last Incarnate levels) granting more in-power screen slots as part of it's rewards.

From that point on, my only choice is what opens up.

At 32, my only choice is my final primary power. At level 35, my only choice is my penultimate secondary power. At level 38, my only choice is my final secondary power. Yes, I realise I could be taking pool powers. What if I don't want to? Most pool powers suck, and even the ones that don't aren't always needed. And we all know Fitness won't be an issue pretty soon.

I have always been a fan of opening Epic pools earlier. It presents us with more options without the abovementioned drought of choice, and it prevents build options from being no-brainers. It also allows us to branch out earlier, which is always a nice touch.

While I will admit I find a certain level of comfort in having my build decided for me by a game which gives me single-option "choices," I've always thought that our "own" powers should actually be at least twice as many as we can actually take. There's an idea of alternate power picks floating around S&I which talks about each power giving you a choice of two, mutually exclusive picks, and that's something along the lines of what I'm suggesting.

In simpler terms, I find the Kheldian approach to be the better way to do it. Yes, you have many, many powers, but trying to take them all is a fool's errand, so you HAVE to choose. Does your Peacebringer focus on melee, on range, or forms or, hell, even on self-protection? It's a meaningful choice, and one I had a really hard time with (before I gave up on Kheldians thanks to Voids and lack of status protection). My builds for all of my non-Kheldian characters, on the other hand, usually consist of all 18 primaries, four of the five Epics and two "travel power picks."
Yep, VEATs also sorta have this issue. I like it.

As to the OP: I'd be fine with his/her suggestion or the alternate open em up t 38 suggestion.

    TLDR: /signed.

Instead they'll stay where they are and continue to use the current zones.

Another thing you seem to have overlooked is that PvP is gated to a minimum level of 15 in this game. The devs aren't going to let people auto level to level 15.

If you are suggesting a new server where all the zones are open to PvP then you are seriously overestimating the size of the PvP population in this game. In it's heyday the PvP population was only a tiny fraction of the playerbase and they have a hard enough time finding opponents in the 4 current zones so you are delusional if you think it will be easier for PvPers to find opponents if they have to search 50+ zones. Especially when there will be a significant portion of them that will refuse to leave their home servers where they can do both PvP and PvE.
This, not to mention that you would essentially have the devs managing THREE different version of the game: pve, pvp, and pvp server with all the stuff that the pvpers want on that codebase. Seeing as how they haven't been successful at doing updates for both pve and pvp with the way things CURRENTLY stand, I think the person you responded to is living in a dream world. I'll leave it at that.

That's a big change.
If this is true, then the review won't happen for at least a month until after I19 is out yet.

Six days of running 5 missions per day (and the Morality mission every second day), you get over a hundred million inf easily.

Really, it's much more fair than in real life, where unless you are born into a wealthy family or you get exceptionally lucky, you are unlikely to ever become rich.
Pretty much this. I stupendously easy to make inf now due to H and V merits.

It's just 4 days to get one of the high level recipes (or two days if you do enough tfs to get you 100 merits [2-3 tfs] and 40 mill inf).

Anyone complaining that they can't afford purples is looking sillier and sillier as time goes by. Issue 18 basically made so that ANYONE can get a purpled warsahde if, (and here is the part that some won't like), IF THEY PUT IN THE TIME!

Getting purples is NOT meant to be fast. Sorry eryq2, but you don't have a leg to stand on in this discussion. The devs have pretty much given their say by how many merits they make a purple recipe cost. Even if they cut the current V/H merit cost in HALF for purples it still leads to the undenible conclusion that (drum-roll please) Getting purples is NOT meant to be fast!

As a personal aside, would I rather have had expansions in this game instead of the boosters: Yes.
