The game does not put a countdown on your toon when you log in and then put you on a team. That's what the game does with a PVP zone.

There's a significant difference between the game's teaming incentive and the game's PVP requirements. You can get to 50 without ever being on a team. In fact, several of my friends have done that, some of them multiple times.

However, you cannot go into a PVP zone without being flagged for PVP, and thus you are agreeing to PVP in that zone.

All of those in your second sentence are still players, so PVP still applies to all of them. A player agrees to engage in PVP by entering the zone and allowing the 30 second countdown to lapse. After that countdown is done, if they are attacked, it's their own fault; if they don't want to be attacked, they can leave the zone.

(NOTE: Once again, this is coming from a die-hard PVE-er. I pretty much hate PVP. But I understand that PVP zones are for PVP first, no matter how much PVE content may be in the zone.)

    Same for the EU servers.

    So there's a US/EU divide, and in both areas, a red/blue divide.

The individual servers don't have their own separate economies.
Incorrect: the EU and the US use the same markets. The only divide is blue/red.

Um. You only do task forces ONCE ever on a character? Gosh. That's boring. I repeat task forces a lot. I've done Positron three times on my ill/TA controller. That, alone, is almost 200 merits.

I would imagine it'd be something like, "If you do not wish to be killed by other players, you can leave the zone." GMs are ever so polite to their customers, it's only on customerssuck.com or some snarky internal message board that they laugh at the idiots that petition for help for stupid stuff.

That is the player side of the store.

The store side of the store also has limitations, but these seem flexible because I've purchased two codes with the same debit card one day and been denied purchasing a second code with the same debit card the next time around (forced to purchase with my boyfriend's debit card tied to the same bank account).

Griefing, in game terms, has a VERY SPECIFIC meaning. It does not mean "this person is annoying me", it means "this person is interrupting my gameplay to the point that I cannot do anything at all".

An example of griefing was people using TP friend to trap teammates in the cages on Pocket D's dance floor. Unless the teammate that TP self or another teammate with TP friend (this was back before the plethora of zone/base TPs, so those were not an option), the person literally could not go anywhere unless they summoned a GM. That's griefing. That's totally interrupting a player's gameplay experience.

Killing someone in a PVP zone does not completely interrupt their gameplay experience. They can go back into the zone and attempt their thing again, or they can leave, each as valid as the other. Killing someone repeatedly in a PVP zone still does not interrupt their gameplay experience. It just means they get to make the choice of stay or leave more often. It's still not griefing.

    With that attitude... I'll pass.

Besides which, instead of editing the OP when you have a new question, post a new reply to your thread. Most people use the "go to new posts" feature of the forums, instead of re-reading the thread from the top down every time. Therefore most users are not going to see your new questions if they've already viewed your thread.

I am a low income player. I make barely enough to get by. OP, it's incredibly easy to set aside a chunk of money for something later on. Take it out of your bank account in $20s and put it in a jar on a shelf high up. Put a reminder on your calendar to deposit it in your bank account on X day, which would be a day or two before the due date of your renewal. Voila.

How is that any different than "purchasing today"? The money is "gone" either way.

(I do this regularly for large purchase items, although it's typically "add $10 to my jar every time I have spare change, take it out when I save enough" instead of "put all of it in the jar and wait until X date".)
  10. Don't know why anyone attempts it anymore. She (Golden Girl) is judgmental, biased, and stubborn.

I dunno, maybe it's just an amazing shock that people don't need stuff spelled out for their Supergroup members.
"Not Seeking" is the DEFAULT OPTION. Leaving it on the default option flagged and placing "SG Only" in your search comment is NOT "using the LFT tool". It's NOT about letting your SG mates know you're available (they can look at the damn member list). It's letting OTHERS know that you're not available unless they're in your SG.

If a person sets to "Not Accepting", they can't accept invites from ANYONE... that is a solo toon, not an SG toon.
  12. Ummmmm. You can easily change your billing method before your sub is up.

    1. Cancel your sub. This does not cancel your access, it just stops any sort of renewal or anything.
    2. Renew sub on new rate plan.
    3. You will be charged when your current sub expires, not the day you renew. Keep that money available.
  13. I'd give the job to War Witch. Cos that would mean War Witch with unlimited resources.

Because perhaps the character is NOT "not accepting invites"... perhaps the character is willing to accept invites FROM THEIR SG? Gosh... that's pretty amazing to think of.

The default search flag is "not seeking"... it's perfectly acceptable to put reasons why you're not seeking teams in your search comment and not change your flag. "SG character" is a perfectly valid reason why a character would not be seeking teams.

    Merit Purchases

I made a post, realized I misread Roderick's post, deleted it, but Fulmens had already replied to it.

edit: I didn't see Fulmens had replied or I would have re-replied and let everyone know Fulmens wasn't crazy(er than normal).
  16. There is more than one server in the game. Specify.

Go to your server forum. Request help there.

    PhysX Issue

You might want to save your ranting for after Ultra Mode comes out, because it fixes most (if not all) of the issues with ATI.

Also, I am amused to note that you quoted something about nVidia cards in order to rant about ATI cards.

My intent was to give my nephew the trial, and then pay for his subscription if he liked it, but I wanted something physical to put in the card. They make things unnecessarily too complicated. Looks like he's getting a GameStop gift card again. Sigh.
Do you live in the US? Go to Target, etc., (at one point, even 7/11 had them, but don't know if they still do) and get a Game Card. They're $20, open an account (so you don't need to buy an actual box code), and come with both 30 days of play time and 30 days of an unlimited-use flight pack.
  19. I think you must be a certain level to purchase insps. Hang on.

edit: I think it's level 10 to 20, but I have to patch and apply before I can log on and check. Forgot to do that before work this morning. Doh.

    edit2: Yes, it's level 10.
  20. Try just deleting the file it's getting hung up on. Also delete any "coh.checksum" file in your installation folder.
  21. I would agree with moving PVE rewards out of the PVP zones, but I wouldn't agree with removing them entirely.

Note that without the PVP "threat" (which admittedly can easily be avoided by going at weird times of day/night), the likelihood is that some of the PVP goodies would be drastically reduced (e.g. PVE-rewarded Shivans and Nukes would probably seriously decrease in power).

It's not rude. That's what I'm saying. It's rude if the person carries on like an *******, but it's not inherently rude to continue to PVP someone who is in a PVP zone after they've asked you to stop. They're in a PVP zone.

I have asked PVP-ers to not kill me, but if they don't respond favorably, I am out like a light. I am more than willing to accede that in a PVP zone, PVP is the name of the game. Unless they are actively griefing (and continuing after being asked to stop has been stated BY THE DEVS to not be griefing), they are "doing it right".

And at that point, a non-PvPer's request would trump the PvP-Farmer's desire for IOs.
Truth is, in a PVP zone, PVP-based rewards trump PVE-based rewards. A PVE player can go anywhere in the game to get PVE rewards. The only place to get (most) PVP rewards is PVP zones (plus a very small amount in the Arena).

It's not a "PVP zone when I'm not doing PVE stuff" - it's a PVP zone. PVP takes precedence, no matter what's going on. If you don't want to PVP, you can remove yourself from the zones that force you to accept PVP.

If a person wants to PVP, they cannot go to any other zone but a PVP zone. If a person wants to PVE, they can go ANYWHERE IN THE GAME (faction-limited, natch).

Typically the first thing that happens when a PVE-er gets their knickers in a twist is the PVP-er invites his PVP buddies and they all have a good few rounds of laughs at the PVE-er's expense.

Like I said before, wait a little bit and the zone will quiet down.
