Quote:More like preventing PvP recipes from flooding the market. With no time limiter on reward merits those 30 some merit aren't so daunting since it doesn't mean weeks of work. Its there because of the Hero/Villain Merit and without the cool down people would farm them to death and flood the market with LotG Recharges or similar.
However they are adding an Instant Alignment Change token. Which may solve your problem.
To the OP, There's also no 'good reason' to gate them at level 20, require 10 plus a morality mission or anything else about the system, if you're really going to nitpick to that degree. Alignment could just as easily be something part of character creation.
But it's not. The system is in place and it probably isn't getting any extensive changes. The devs time lock stuff, there are also cool downs on several other things that a lot of people don't like. Screaming at anyone and everyone like a spoiled child isn't going to get you your way any more. Changing alignment by design is meant to be labor and time intensive, regardless of how you feel the logic 'stands up'. -

One other thing to note for the Alpha slot powers, several of the high level Task Forces in the game (Imperious, Lady Grey, Statesman/Recluse) will offer the Components you make from Shards as rewards. For instance, the T1 Spiritual Alpha can be made with components earned from the Imperious Task Force, the Statesman Task Force, and Gr'ai matter (crafted from 150 Vanguard merits, very easy to earn in a Rikti mothership raid)

It's only 11 missions if you aren't changing your alignment at all. And if you are, it's 33 missions. 1 set to go to Rogue/Vigilante, 1 set to go to Hero/Villain, 1 set to re-affirm. Otherwise, just 11.

I know others have seen this, but I've seen it happen about 3 times now so I figure it's worth reporting.
For whatever reason the Winter Lord monsters have been spawning with Winter Horde minions that are waaaaay above a zone's particular level.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=280356
.
Here's a screen I took the other day. but just today on Exalted I joined in helping an incarnate take out one (no buggy infinite horde though) in Cap that had 47+ minions, and just tonight I ran into another one in Atlas, also with 47+ frostlings. This one at least was out of the way
This just seems ridiculous. I mean, players are supposed to be able to gang up on a GM when one spawns, Winter Lord or no, but the high level minions pretty much mean you need a 50+ person to form the team or you'll just faceplant.
Now they're not all spawning like this, I did manage to spawn one myself in Steel City on Victory with my ill/rad controller and didn't have any problems, so just curious what's up. -
Just full of questions tonight.
Ok so we've seen a big push for adding completely new content and features, and some effort to revamping older/unused content.
What's something that already exists in the game that you'd like to see expanded on? That is, what is it that already works that you just want to see -more- of?
So like, I'd like to see them add more of these:
Enhacement sets - They -are- adding the ATIOs and that's nice, but there are soooo many places they could add different sets. There are just a ton of categories where there's maybe 1-2 'good everyone wants' sets and then the rest are pretty lame duck. Some categories don't even have that much.
Tips & morality missions - Ok tips sorta have a good variety, but for something that you have to do 10 of for progress, you see them all pretty fast. Every level range could probably use another 4-5 or so added. And Morality missions, definitely give me more. How many times do I have to screw over Frostfire, or Murder Silent Blade's father or save the One Good Bane Spider. If nothing else, add at least one more mission per alignment per level range to balance it out, the difficulties between them are sooo skewed.
Radio/Newspaper mission - These are randomly generated, but they could probably add a new type here or there. You've got the kidnapping you stop/commit, the beat up a boss, and find the macguffin usually. Tips have shown a -wide- variety of mission styles, it seems like it shouldn't be hard to add some of the tech here.
Lore slot - Already tons of suggestions here :3
Judgement slot - Obviously we've got more damage types to cover. I'd love to see something like a psychic wave, like a PBAoE that triggers off smaller PBAoEs, like the Contagious Confusion proc. Or a narrow cone Sonic with knockdown/knockback. maybe a Toxic AoE that leaves a corrosive (ie Debuff) pseudo-pet patch?
how bout you guys? -
Quote:It's still going to be like Silent Hill, just the Dark World instead of the Normal World.Still bums me out that the DA revamp will apparently lift the omnipresent fog. DA was awesome because it was such a unique little zone in the game with that Silent Hill shroud laying over it. Making the whole zone glow red because the Sleeper has Awoken seems WoW-ish.
-
it's only -really- bad when you're trying to find a small glowie, otherwise, not toooo bad.
I'm much rather they nix the lag warehouses first. -
yeah, I'm thinking one of the ways is definitely to mirror something like the RWZ and the mothership raid. Give players a live event they can earn rewards on. Or at least a worthwhile task force, which is about the only thing (barely) keeping Cimerora slightly active.
Like, First Ward and Faultline, as mentioned, have pretty solid story arcs. But they're just worth running through once, and even so, can be done completely solo. After that there isn't a heck of a lot to do in either of them except badge hunt.
And First Ward has the Seed, but that thing is so pathetically ill designed. Giant Monster rewards seriously need to be looked at again if the Devs want to use them as centerpieces for content. It's not really that the gimmick is bad (though, the flight thing can be a bit annoying, and seriously screws with mastermind AI) just that for the effort of taking it down all you get is 2 lousy Reward merits, a badge, and a temp power that only lasts 30 minutes after defeating it. At the very least, the temp needs to be a click power so you can activate it when you feel like. But as it is, it's just not worth the effort. I see the Seed flying unmolested almost 24/7. In fact I've only seen 2 in channel efforts pulled together to take it on in the few months I've been playing. -
I don't really mind if the Devs want a way for folks to legitimately power level, but I'd at least like them to do a chain of trials instead of just having the one. So you do DFB 2-3 times, hit 10, and then go into.. something like the Praetorian Syndicate event, where you fight your way through an office building and end with a boss fight at the top. From like 10-20, then another trial, etc.
-
Huh, looks pretty neat. I'm kind of liking all the things they're kicking out wit the model.
The method of release could still be better, but still. Neat wuff. -
Just something that I've been curious about since they announced the new Dark Astoria revamp, how it will have various amenities and obviously all the solo incarnate content. An then thinking about a new zone like First Ward and how it is essentially a ghost town.
So, here's a question for the masses. What needs to be in a zone to make it an active hub for player activity? -
Not really surprising, this last season we saw a lot of winding down and slowly separating.
As long as it isn't another stupidly hamfisted allegory like the God Complex, I think it'll be fine.
Then again, it's very likely Moffet that's handling it and so far I believe he's shown himself to be a very competent writer for the show. The season finale this time was, admitted, a little weak, but in general I've really enjoyed Moffet's take way way more over Davies. He really doesn't go for the soap opera love drama, and while River is Moffet's "Rose", she's a far more interesting and complicated character than Rose could ever hope to be.
Honestly, I think just Amy and Rory leaving is going to be heart breaking however they choose to do it simply because the characters are so lovable and so close. Really though, I think it is about time to move on, honestly I imagine they're going to try to have another child they will actually get to raise.
Curious who the new companion will be. Kind of hoping they get another guy, to break away a bit more from the boy/girl romance angle. Then again, even Davies showed he was capable of a more classic companion set up with Donna, as overshadowed as she was by Martha and Rose stealing the limelight for a large chunk of her season ;p -
Snapped on Victory the other day when a Winter Lord and his absurdly big horde of LEVEL 50 frostlings and blights spawned right beneath the Atlas Statue. A couple newbies got ganked unfortunately before a few incarnated folks jumped in to distract it. Whatever it was, it was bugged since the horde spawned continuously and no one could dent the Lord. Apparently despawned by mods after one of the new people petitioned. It was -nuts- -

Quote:By regular sewers do you mean DFB? Because no, you can get to fifty on DFB, even at like 30 a single run is worth more than 1/3 to 1/2 your total exp bar...Wait. Isn't there a gigantic gulf between the two sewers? Don't the regular sewers cap out at 12 or 13, and Abandoned Sewers don't kick in until level 35? How exactly were you going to fix that?
OT: Maybe an hour or so - usually don't bother after level 12-18 depending on AT, I'll usually join a posi or PuG Scanner team at that point. -
About once per character for the badges is about it, even if I'm doing it to help speed the leveling, I don't really feel like slogging through it more than once.
-
Quote:you have a very warped sense of time then if you think DFB's gains for the time and effort involved even half resemble doing any of the game's Taskforces or other activities for XP. There's -nothing- in the game that throws so many easy AVs at you in such a low amount of time. The most i have run DFB on one toon has been twice.. to get the end recov and def increase temps.
I'm sure there are people out there who use it to PL themselves basically, but almost everything in this game is farmable. I think the xp on this trial is where it should be and simply because some people choose to do it over and over and over and...over....oh well. I see people do the same thing with ITF from 35-50; especially when it is the WTF.
I see more people PLd through PI than I do DFB (Yeah PI I know right how Issue 9). -
As much as it should be implemented simply for game balance, you're never going to get a majority of players to agree simply because they like to take advantage of it too. When something is too easy, people don't want it harder. The Devs really stuck their collective foot in their mouth when they made the rewards for this so easy and without any reasonable limits because now people can ***** an whine that any limitation will hinder how 'they want to play the game'.
basically, they have a new toy and they don't want to not play with it because it's less work than playing with all their old toys.
The fun thing is, folks have found a new trick to squeeze even more XP out of it simply by figuring out how to spawn the AVs twice. Ran into this the other night taking a toon through it once. Didn't want to power level the toon to that degree so I skipped out as soon as they explained the plan. -
