This is the ultra rare and I managed to get it on my 23rd pack... sadly its actually a .08% chance of dropping meaning now I will never see it on live. It actually looks REALLY cool though. Wanted to share some screenshots with people to show it off:

And here is a comparison size to give you an idea:

What is sweet is the eyes actually glow. I don't have the German Shepard so I don't know if its similar. It has its own animations like a sit, a howling, scratching itself, etc.

Also the dog itself is *REALLY* big, that character in that screenshot is about 3/4 of the height slider and almost half his size.

That's about how big the shepherd is as well, looks cool though!

Huh, looks pretty neat. I'm kind of liking all the things they're kicking out wit the model.

The method of release could still be better, but still. Neat wuff.

It's like Shadowmere in wolf form. The horse version is more useful, because it kills dragons.

Very nice pix, its much much cooler than the german sheperd pet.

Am I going to spend $400+ to get it? You can bet your bippy I will NOT. Direwolf or not

Wait, less than a *tenth* of a percent chance of dropping? One every 1250 packs on average? Or looking at it as a cumulative probability, an item that even after opening a thousand packs you only have a bit more than 50% chance to have gotten it?

Geez. Glad I had already written these packs off as unbuyable. This is just ridiculous. It's pretty, for sure (although I'm amused that they've now released *three* things using this new rig, and none of them are the 'wolf pet' that I actually might have been tempted to buy, and was in the game as early as halloween), but no way in hell is it worth that kind of outlay.

That chance is per card, not per pack.

It's still not good, but it's 5 times better than you're making out.

That math doesn't make any sense.

Each pack has 3 common, 1 rare, 1 very rare card (or at least, that's what we've been shown so far). Unless I'm missing something here I thought every pack was built this way?

Are you saying that there's a chance of getting 5 very rare cards in a pack? What are the chances of a card being a 'very rare'?

Or are you saying that there's a 0.08% chance a card will be both a 'very rare' AND be a 'black wolf'?

---

Assuming there's a chance of getting 5 very rares in a pack:

(Chance of a very rare being wolf) 0.08% = 1 in 1250 - which is incredible bad.

(5 times that in best possible outcome) 5 in 1250 = 1 in 250 - which is still incredibly poor.

---

I really, really, really, really don't like these packs.

---

The odds are good for -someone- in the game owning it. The odds are good for -several people- owning it. The odds that a particular person could own it are incredibly poor.

I'll almost guarantee that it will be in the first pack I buy, since I think non-combat mini-pets are the stupidest thing in the world and would never use it. It would sit in my powers window and taunt me while I never ever drew any of the rares I actually wanted. In fact I'd probably get like 3 of them.

Now, if the noncom pets were a costume option like auras, and you didn't have to keep turning it on like a power then I might use them, although I don't care too much about costumes either since the basic pieces are more than enough to cover my needs.

I'm more interested in what they're going to do with the 4-legged skeleton they have now.

It would suck if we never got anything other than non-combat pets, especially with the way people have been clamoring for an animal mastermind of some kind for years now.

I could see a "Wolfpack" mastermind primary. Tier 1 pets would be regular wolves, tier 2 would be direwolves, and the tier 3 would be a werewolf of some kind.

No idea what the personal attacks in that set could be though.

Actually, we're both work on erroneous information.

Zombie Man's original deduction was that there is an 0.8% per-pack, not 0.08%, but there has been no confirmation of that I have seen. Ultimus is keen to repeat that number as much as he can, but provides no evidence of it himself.

Assuming it's true, that gives a mean of 125 packs to be opened to get the wolf.

Anyway:

Not at all. Each pack has a guaranteed rare or very rare, but beyond that, anything goes. It's possible VRs are limited in number, but I've seen no reason to assume that.

From what I know, it's quite possible to get 5 VRs in a pack, just very unlikely.

The numbers are being refined in the official feedback thread.
