Yep. And I know the login screen has been burning around 100% CPU for years. Heck if I know why. Maybe it's doing something to make life a little harder on any keylogging programs out there? <shrug>

Anyway - serious games use serious CPU and/or GPU. That's how it's always been.

More than likely, you've got some sort of firewall that's blocking the updater. The updater itself got updated with I15 so you may have to tell your firewall to let it through again.

If you're trying to take screenshots of special screens (like the enhancement management or costume creation) then yeah, that happens. If you keep trying it might work evenutually but it can take a dozen tries before it does.

Easiest thing to do is to grab FRAPs (the free version will do fine), WeGame's client, or XFire to take your screenshot for you.

Yeah, actually, it is very unrealistic. You can design the system to stop some forms of abusive behavior (like how they removed prisoners from the system with the last update) but removing all of them is quite impossible. You've got to have human beings doing the policing. Unless you feel like hiring a staff of mission reviewers, having players do it is the only way to go.

EvilRyu is right - upgrades are diiiiirty! When Microsoft comes out with a new OS, the only thing for it is to go out and buy a new PC with all the latest hardware.

(Though, if OnLive has its way with us gamers, this could be the last hardcore PC I ever buy. Big "if" but still kinda amazing...)

Most likely that. Get service pack two. It should show up on Windows Update.

(And you might want to hunt down some more recent Realtek sound drivers, too, though that's unlikely to be causing this problem.)

Oh, I suppose it could be a network card going bad on the Infinity server. If it is, we'll see a lot more topics like this. I think it's more likely that some router somewhere on the internet is mangling things, though.

!?!? That's odd. I used Notepad to do that - Demo Edit wouldn't touch the thing without those 0s in the back. (Though Demo Edit did keep changing the Player away from the puddle.) Oh well, thanks for fixing.

You kept your Sprint there, too. When I put the puddle next to the camera, I got a face full of dust and rock!

The puddle is more... puddle-like now. I also stuck some 0's on the end of those Statesman lightning strikes to make the format right. (I doubt the 0s do anything but we might as well do it like the game does.)

Oh, and I stuck Tesslah in. She blows some stuff up. Buzzy the wonder-gear is there, too. Briefly.

(Something funky is going on with the blown up pieces. Sometimes they stay on the ground like they should, sometimes they fall through and vanish. It ended up broken and I ran out of time before I could figure out why.)

OK, so they just do nothing. I thought there might be some sneaky trick you could do by giving a puddle a costume. Maybe the costume would show up in reflections but not in the main picture or something crazy like that.

Wow, that was great! Super job!

Great music but what I liked best about it was the music PLUS the game sounds. Music always adds a ton to the emotion of a video but it always seems a bit odd that you're having all these earth-shattering powers going off without a sound. Combining the two helps immerse in the video a lot better without losing the music's impact.

Plus you used the Electric brute's lightning rod power, which just plain rocks all around.

Slow swapping tends to mean a memory problem. You've got a LOT of memory, though. Perhaps it's the swap file?

You don't need a 14 gig swap file. I'll be amazed if you can use up the entire 8 gig of memory you have, in fact.

Try going in to Computer properties, advanced system settings, performance, advanced tab, and click the Change button. Try turning virtual memory completely off for now. If that helps out, try setting the virtual memory to have a max and min of 2 gig.

You do have quite a bit of automated junk running on your PC: acrobat 'helper', quicktime 'helper', and heaven only knows what that HP thing is doing. I doubt they are behind this problem but you might look into using HiJackThis to get them out of there. (Quicktime and Adobe will both insert themselves back in again as soon as they upgrade. I really hate that.)

Well, normally I would suspect that you are using the wrong ID/password (NCSoft account instead or forum account instead of the game account) but not being able to use your own? No idea. Maybe a key is bad? Did you try typing the password into the user name box just to make sure it's typing out correctly?
