takes ages to change window focus on my new vista

Just upgraded to new vista pc 3mhz quad core with 6gb mem and nvidia 9800gt, game plays great! only issue is when i want to change to another window ie media player or internet explorer, it takes like 30secs to swap out and another 30 to swap in, running on 1900x1100 res, any tweaks or suggestions to speed this process up, it never took anywhere near that time on my old XP system.

Butthead: That.. is the fastest thing.. I've ever seen.
Beavis: Yeah! Fast! heh heh, heh heh.
Butthead: Shut up Beavis. I was just kidding. Mhz is slow. huh huh.
Beavis: Oh yeah! I thought it was Ghz.
Butthead: Don't make me monkeyslap you.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. lol

OP: Is your desktop resolution the same as the one you are using in-game? Using different resolutions in fullscreen mode have been known to cause slower switching (not 30 seconds long, but hopefully we'll be able to see something else causing the extended delay when we get the reports requested above).

Any time I try to change windows, or even accidently click outside the game window, locks up the entire system for roughly 30 seconds. Then it's another 30 seconds once I click the game window to make it active again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Slow swapping tends to mean a memory problem. You've got a LOT of memory, though. Perhaps it's the swap file?

You don't need a 14 gig swap file. I'll be amazed if you can use up the entire 8 gig of memory you have, in fact.

Try going in to Computer properties, advanced system settings, performance, advanced tab, and click the Change button. Try turning virtual memory completely off for now. If that helps out, try setting the virtual memory to have a max and min of 2 gig.

You do have quite a bit of automated junk running on your PC: acrobat 'helper', quicktime 'helper', and heaven only knows what that HP thing is doing. I doubt they are behind this problem but you might look into using HiJackThis to get them out of there. (Quicktime and Adobe will both insert themselves back in again as soon as they upgrade. I really hate that.)

tried turning off the virtual memory but still getting bad lag time switching windows, also slowed my system down alot, but well worth a try though.
