Quote:And yet that is so rarely the case, at least that I have seen on Virtue. Someone in RWZ advertises that they are starting a BAF or Lambda and then spends the next 5 minutes scrolling up the chat window to invite the first 12-24 people (out of the 40-50 that sent tells). If you can form your own league you have greater control of how may +3s are in it and the group make up. I think many will still want this control. Merit bonus is a poor reward if you fail the trial. I have seen noobs do all sorts of strange things on trials that cause them to fail, the foremost being not listening to the leader.
At that point you might as well use the LFG system, it amounts to the same thing. -
Quote:And today is National Donut Day.Tomorrow is National Cheese Day..
I gave you all a heads up so you can stop and pick up all kids of cheesey goodness on your way home from work!
mmm cheese fondu? Yes please!
mmm cheese cake!?! YES!
The Krispy Kreme stores down here (North Carolina) are giving away one free donut to each customer. I'm hoping I can bring my 6-week old son and get two -
Quote:I have a bull, on Virtue. The Micro-taur. Because every possible variation of "Mini-taur" that I could think of was taken.I've seen quite a few - but mostly just the cat heads - there are a few wolves and birds around too, but bulls are very rare
He's quite cute, in a bull-with-an-axe-the-same-size-as-he-is-and-can-cut-you-in-half kind of way. -
Quote:I play this and several other MMOs and several pen-and-paper games with a variety of people, some creative and some not so much.Great advice, I appreciate all of it. I'm thinking I might make Virtue my "Project server" and get off Freedom for awhile. Now all I have to do is get that one character out of my mind and on paper (harder than it looks). I had a hard enough time back when they wanted to play D&D...I was a fighter.. I smashed stuff...I never bothered with anything more (even though other wished I would, probably why I don't play anymore). At least now I have somewhat of a choice in the matter as to what form it takes. If only I was a creative individual.
Some of the folks I play with are of the "smash stuff" variety as well, and that got me thinking. If you like the smashign, why don't you try playing a Brute for a bit? The level of SMASH on a Brute is really quite sick in the lower levels, and might keep you interested long enough to really get interested in playing the character.
Just a thought. Good luck! -
Quote:Forget gorillas - you can already do monkeys with the existing options (don't believe me? Look me up on Pinnacle as Arachno-tang, hanging with my partner Spider Ape and our monkey-posse Chimptrocity and the Gibbonator).Cent#1: For an Animal pack update how about adding a gorilla option?
Cent#2: For Dual Pistols - Remington Model 95 Derringer(s)

Quote:I missed the bit where this is in any way, shape or form a solo path. This is a team path for team rewards.I missed the bit where they said this is the only solo path they'll ever add
Handing it to another character hardly qualifies it for being a "solo path". It's a "I dont' want to do a trial on this character" path. -
Quote:Dev hate villains. Deal.I'm sure this has been discussed many times before, but please either allow Villains to kill civilians or prevent Villains from being able to target and attack them at all whilst dealing no damage. They can be quite inconvenient during bank heists with loads of them running around and you're trying to attack the Guards. Hell, if you allowed Villains to kill civilians it could work as a badge just like you get badges for destroying cars, trucks and other pieces of scenery, and for the Heroes maybe an alternative badge can be given for say, saving civilians from other criminals?
Sorry for the rant, I just think that they are an incredible waste of space even when they can be programmed to be something productive and more in-depth with the nature of this game. Saving them as a Hero or terrorizing them as a Villain.

OK, so we can forego the codes, but I think the merchandise would be cool. I would definitely buy a "Drink Enriche" shirt.

Quote:Thank you for posting your global so I know how to avoid you. If it's not too much trouble, would you mind also posting a list of all your characters so I won't have to go through the tedium of looking up your global and can skip straight to the 'ignore' stage?I've been receiving a lot of interesting feedback lately. So, I thought I would just lay it out for people so there is no misunderstanding...
When I run a team/group, I am pretty much of the opinion that everyone who joins does so of their own free will. I can advertise all day long and you do not have to join teams run by me. Let's just be up front about that. And, I am of the opinion that when you join a team run by me or another person, you are generally agreeing to follow the instructions/directions and fulfill the expectations that person has.
My main expectation is that people on my team are reasonably intelligent and able to perform their role well without having to really be asked. If you are playing a toon with "buffs," then I generally expect that you will make use of those buffs as much as possible. Yes, maintaining some buffs may be annoying, particularly in large groups, but your contribution goes a long way. Even something as simple as spreading out those nifty "Fortune" buffs can help a lot.
Also, I expect (within reason) that people know what's going on and do their best to help the team achieve our objective(s). I do not like having people along who are totally clueless. Even if you have never done something before, you ought to make your best effort to learn so that in the future you know what to do.
Most importantly, I look for people who can take directions and follow them without me having to ask you more than a couple times, preferably only once.
If things are not going well or I feel people are being stupid, just expect that I tend to get very bitchy and cranky. If you can't handle it, just don't join my teams.
In fact, if you can't handle being expected to function at a reasonable level of intelligence, just don't ask to join my teams. I won't be offended.
Other things to know...
I am a huge fan of KILLING stuff. So if you join my team, don't get upset when it isn't the fastest, speediest, ITF in town. If you don't like taking it slower and enjoying a good time, then don't bother joining.
I also like +4 runs. To me, the game is incredibly easy and cranking up the difficulty keeps me entertained longer. Again, if you aren't willing to take up the challenge, then don't join.
A BIG annoyance to me are the people who sign up for one of my +4 KILL ALL TFs, but then the team gets weak-kneed and wants to just "get it done." If you sign up for one of my special teams, don't turn around and be a pansy and start complaining about the time. If you signed up, then I assume you have the time to stay for however long it takes. Which, these days, +4 stuff really doesn't take that long.
Anyways, just putting this out there to disarm those who think they can ***** at me about stuff. You have been forewarned and have no excuse. Feel free to spread the word. Not my problem if people can't handle being on an awesome team.
FYI... I have no regrets about kicking people from my team(s) who I find to be too much of a drag on the team.
Oh, wait - Freedom. Nevermind. -
Quote:Even if they lose the lawsuits, they are only losing a portion of his origin. Action Comics #1 was sold to DC, but all the following Superman issues were "work as hire", and DC owns them.I can't see altering Superman's history at this late date helping with the lawsuits. Wouldn't the creator's estates still win back everything prior to the alteration?
DC quite frankly either needs to suck it up and sit down with the Superman estate and hammer out a mutually fair and profitable deal, or else start grooming Captain Marvel/Shazam as the replacement to Superman if they lose the lawsuits.
IIRC, they would lose Krypton (and Krypton blowing up, and baby Supes rocketing away), Kal-L, Jor-L and Lara and not a whole lot else. Hm, the costume. Well, the insignia has changed since the original (it used to have black where there is yellow now), but I don't know if that constitutes enough change or not.
I'm not trying to begrudge the Seigels their rightful property, but you can be sure that he and Schuster were thrilled to sell their story and the subsequent ones to DC. Having their great-grandkids squabbling over the scraps seems a little...I don't know, not in the spirit of Superman? -
So what archetype do I need to roll to get a VR drop?

Quote:We got Five Guys here in North Carolina a few years ago, and they are pretty tasty. I tried In-And-Out last time I was in LA and it was good, but not great. Did not get to try Fatburger, maybe next time.I have seen this place mentioned elsewhere and wished I were in Atlanta long enough to try the place.
In 'n Out = okay, but not all that and a bag of chips, as it were.
Five Guys = discovered upon moving to Seattle. Yum.
Culver's = also quite good, and they were damn accommodating to John and me when we were on restricted diets.
Fatburger = generally nom. Depends on the location.
Then there's the pizza thing. I'm from New York. I KNOW New York style pizza. (I also know New York cheesecake.) I laugh long and hard and LOUDLY in places that advertise having either and fail to meet expectations. There was ONE place in ALL of Arizona that made New York style pizza, and that was NYPD Pizza. I have not yet found a Seattle equivalent.
Now I'm hungry, damn it.

If you are ever in the Raleigh-Durham area, try CharGrill or CookOut. Absolutely the best burgers anywhere. -

Quote:Actually, my objection to it is the same as all the other companies that use a unified launcher: I don't need to be reminded/advertised to about your other games. If I wanted to buy them, I would.I've read where apparently earlier versions of the NCSoft Launcher was a hunk of junk. That may be true, but I've had absolutely no trouble with the current version and actually consider it an overall improvment to the old CoH launcher.
From a usability standpoint, the launcher is fine. I object on principle.

Quote:There's also a post around somewhere that says how to modify the new updated to auto-launch CoH if that's your only game so you don't actually have to go to the thrice-damned NCSoft Launcher and pick CoH.Actually it probably does matter because a few months ago when the Devs introduced the new launcher they told us that eventually we'd all have to use the new one as a replacement for the old one. Sound like today's patch finally made it mandatory to use the new one.
The new one really is better than the old one anyway. It updates the game quicker and it eliminates the need to have multiple shortcuts on the Desktop for Test and Beta. *shrugs*
I'll see if I can find it...
edit: Here's the link to the mandatory nature of the launcher (scroll down to #6), still looking for the customization link:

Are you using the NC Soft launcher or the old CoH launcher?

I tried this, ZM. Helped for me. Still got some powers lag, but not like I had been getting. Spread the word around my league and it seemed to help some others.

Quote:THAT explains why I have never gotten further than 1/2 way through Fellowship. Keep failing boot camp...I feel like that first half of Fellowship is the rite of passage you must go through before you are allowed to enjoy the book(s). Tolkien's boot camp, or something. After that it gets much, MUCH better and far more interesting. The pace picks up, the action picks up, the more interesting characters enter the story... the writing and the story just gets better in every way.

Quote:You forgot the one she wore when on a motorcycle.Well Lynda Carter WW also had the swimsuit costume, and technically wearing that star spangled cape made it a third costume and there was that season 1 ep that Roy Rogers was in where she wore more normal attire, apparently as they didn't want her wearing the WW costume around all the little kids that were in that episode. Four costumes.

I'm an astronaut, even born in the signature year for that sign.
Having said that, I hardly fit the profile. -
Quote:I thought it could only stack 4 times, and that was absolute. No matter how many people apply it, it only stacks 4 times on a given target. The debuff is 2.5% per hit, and you can stack it up to 10 times. (not 100% sure on the percentage, but it's pretty low). The amount of debuff it applies, as far as I know, does not increase with the tier, it just gets a better chance to happen.
As far as I'm aware you can't monitor the rolls to see if it happens or not.
I'll see if I can find the thread where I found that.
