TG and Transfusion are two different beast. If the target dies TG still works. The same can not be said of Transfusion. If the heal works for Transfusion, then I would believe the proc would work as well.

I'll just do Complete pack via Steam and call it a day. I want to get diskless versions of as many games I want to play as possible and CoH is one of the few left.

Quote:Ok, let's do some basic math. Note, all DoT is added in since the AV will obviously be sticking around long enough for it to matter. RT will be a term that defines when the power is able to be reused based on animation + recharge time.I use 4 attacks mainly. All of Which have 1-3 Endurance Redux SOs in them for longjevity in the fight. They are.
Dark Blast, Gloom, Siphon Life, and Moonbeam.
Dark Blast vs. Flares
DB does 41.71 damage with a RT of 5.
Flares does 42.12 damage with a RT of 3.18
Gloom vs. Fire Blast
Gloom does 73.44 damage with a RT of 9.
Fire Blast does 66.75 with a RT of 5.2
Life Drain vs. Blaze
Life Drain does 41.71 damage with a RT of 16.93.
Blaze does 135.32 damage with a RT of 11.
Moonbeam vs. Blazing Bolt
Moonbeam does 115.11 damage with a RT of 16.33
Blazing Bolt does 152.63 damage with a RT of 16.67
Fire matches, if not beats Dark in terms of end usage when being used as well.
Oh, and for giggles, you three slot the snipe for end reduc. By the time Moonbean can be reused, it's been 16.33 seconds and it used 14.352 end, or .878 end per second. Dark Blast can be used three times before Moonbeam can be reused and thus would use 15.6 end, or .955 end per second based against Moonbeam's 16.33 RT. By the time you can reuse Moonbeam Dark Blast would have also done 125.13 damage which means it does better DPS, which is what matters against an AV, than the snipe does. Yep, a basic attack does better DPS than a snipe.
Final note, numbers are with base damage. Add in typical 95% damage slotting and the numbers for Fire are even better and the higher numbers translate into better scourge as well. -

Of the three, Fire. Dark has two credible ST attacks and then a snipe and an attack/heal type power. It's strength is in two fast recharging AoEs. Rad has a pew pew pew attack power and only really one heavy weight ST attack. Again, part of it's strength is in AoEs. Ice and Sonic are better sets to compare with Fire, but even then the whole point of Fire is pure raw damage. You can't go wrong by picking Fire.

Ill and Fire with /rad and /storm, or Plant with /storm and /ta. Others certainly work, but I would look at those first.
-
Ill/thermal. Ill lets you play a more passive support like Ill/emp does since you don't need to be in the middle of things like a /sonic, /ff, or /kin needs to be. Ill can more than hold it's own when it needs to solo.

I have a level 32 Ice/ice that solos rather well with just basic SOs. If it's not dead, it's controlled. I just started a Ice/mm that should fill in rather nicely as well and might be even more recommended over the Ice/ice since it has more AoE and still solid in the controls department.
-
Anything that has a 50% chance of holding a minion isn't eligible for being considered the best AoE hold in the game. Period. CC is highly skippable for Rad/sonic due to the build's natural ranged playstyle because of Howl and Siren's Song. Now for Ice and Fire controllers...

Quote:What is the recharge needed to pull it off? I have three DBs and I was curious how much it would take. Two get a Quickness type boost(/sr and /elec) and the other is /wp.BF>Attack Vitals is a nice mid-to-high ST damage chain, with good AE built in and doesn't take extreme recharge. Once you have this chain slotted out, there's no need for other chains unless you exemplar.
I like to add in Typhoon for extra AoE damage. I also do not like 1K Cuts.
Quote:Exactly, and on top of that, it's not that hard (especially with the difficulty slider all the way to 11) to hit alot of targets with the cuisnart resulting in orange numbers for many ticks popping up everywhere. I'll repeat it again, most hate 1K Cuts and leave the sweep combo out of their builds, but I say give it a try yourself before making any judgements. I love them both, all the orange numbers and the hokey look of 1K cuts and the effect of sweeping everyone around you onto their butts. -
And I really don't get the point of taking a set that has a damage aura and then not take said aura. It's balanced in part because of the aura. If you aren't taking it, you might as well have taken a different secondary.

I take PS, BF, the AV combo and TE. PS, AS, and VS give you a nice ST attack chain and SS and TE add in enough AoE. Landing the AV combo on a large mob is awesome.

Quote:http://www.thefreedictionary.com/mediocre
2. mediocre - lacking exceptional quality or ability; "a novel of average merit"; "only a fair performance of the sonata"; "in fair health"; "the caliber of the students has gone from mediocre to above average"; "the performance was middling at best"
middling, average, fair
Now you can boggle at actual word definitions.Quote:of moderate or low quality -
Quote:DF is an end hog. It gets 3 slotted for end reduc from me.That's kind of sad really. I've always thought that Defenders didn't really need fitness, but I think I got that impression from my Empathy defenders.
Just this last week I made a sonic/sonic defender, PL'd up to level 22, picked out my powers, avoided fitness... then I did my level 20 costume mission, and it was immediately clear to me that I'd made a big mistake. Granted, I hadn't really IO'd out the character yet, but endurance was going to be an issue regardless of how much reduction I slotted.
Ah well. Now I know. ^_^ -

Quote:How is Stalagmites mediocre when it's equal to pretty much every other AoE stun? /storm hinders foes ability to attack in two ways. One, Freezing Rain and you can AoE immob. a mob and have them standing up attacking each other with a -res debuff, and Hurricane due to it's -tohit debuff. I don't use Hurricane on my Plant/storm.Though I loathe using the word "synergy" without irony, the word does apply to Earth/Storm. Two mediocre AOE stuns (Stalagmites, Thunderclap) combine to provide every spawn crowd control. This lets you free to use the good stuff in Earth at your convenience.
Conversely, I see an un-synergy with Plant and Storm. Personally, with Plant, I don't like to pair it with sets that hinder foes' ability to attack, such as Storm and TA. Please note I'm not saying Plant with either of two won't work, or even be great combos. I'm just basically saying between the two choices the OP listed, I see Earth/Storm as a much great pairing than Plant/Storm.
I have a level 50 Earth/storm and a level 37 Plant/storm. The Plant/storm is easier to solo, but I would still rank the Earth/storm as more fun to play, but I love control and to me Earth has more of it. -
Quote:QFT. Just using 1-2 channels alone really help finding teams and cut down on the idiots. I changed up my channels for Virtue recently and I almost have to kick myself at the sheer amount of teams and TFs I could be doing, but can't for various reasons including already being on a different TF. It's been ages since I did this for Freedom and I know I need to update the channels there as well as Victory. To the OP:
Try joining global channels- RF2009 has a lot of experienced players who are frequently setting things up. (It replaced Radio Freedom; the channel was full of players who no longer played, so they couldn't be kicked out of the channel, and new players couldn't get in.) I'm sure there are other good channels on Freedom.
Channels and building a global friends list are two big ways for the independent player to find decent teams often. Breaking down and finding a good SG helps as well, but I prefer doing the solo SG thing as much as possible these days. If I walk away for 3, or more months for a break(done it a number of times), I can come back and not worry about the SG. -
You will run into this type of mindset if you do a lot of PuGs. However, even as a vet of Freedom were the OP plays, I have vastly avoided numerous cases of the stories that people seem to get from there. I've never been kicked for lack of heals. Hell, I think I've been kicked once period. There have been rare cases that I could count on a single hand for the times I have been asked if I could heal after I said I was a def lft. I don't accept any invites from those people anyway so I could care less if they wanted me, or not.

No mention of porting in GR. Only thing we know about sets are the two new ones. The next round of porting very likely might not be until i18.
