I agree that there are certain things that definitely need review (e.g., the price of certain individual IOs were set higher because they cost more in the AH is not an appropriate way to set prices... if there is such a high demand, that is the reason to set a *lower* price to ease the demand).

However, a correction on the exchange:

    200 Reward Merits (for a Special IO) = 2 Alignment Merits = 100 Reward Merits + 40 Million INF

They can ask about a feature they aren't familiar with but is already in the game. They can ask about where to get more help. They can ask *why* something is the way it is. They can ask some stuff about the Studio.

I learned long ago that FFs are Q&A for newbies and is not a source of new information. And thus, stopped attending long ago.

Nothing to say about <Insert Topic Here> at this time.
    The better questions are:

Why do people ask about features not in the game as a not so secret way to lobby for such features when the Dev is only a community moderator and thus can only say, "suggestion noted."

Why do people ask about upcoming features whose details (release date, stats, etc...) haven't been announced when the Dev can't talk about unannounced release dates or features?

Using 3 inspirations in a tough fight is fine. Needing to use 3 inspirations to defeat a foe is not fine. Needing to use 6 inspirations to defeat a foe is ridiculous.
That's a compromise from the previous rubric of needing 7 teammates.

    Sooo....Coyotes.

So, Coyotes - best travel power, or what?

    D'oh!

    You're right.

Then Marauder only has AV class -Jump resistance.

Problem is there aren't too many powers with -Jump to throw at him.

Some Soldier with Surveillance should check it out (-Jump protection even shows up under Combat Attributes).
  7. I always imagined that in CoH, the state lines were drawn a bit differently, too. And the sea coast isn't exactly the same shape. Close, but different.
  8. Enhancement of Aspects (Dam, Heal, End, etc...) know nothing of Set limitations.

Bonuses and Effects from Special IOs *do* follow Set limitations. So, if Fluffy could take Heal Sets, a Numina's Proc will only go off when Fluffy uses Twilight Grasp Heal and not any other power. However, the ACC in any Numina's will also enhance Tenebrous Tentacles attacks even though Tentacles doesn't take Heal Sets.
  9. It must be a bug unless your Immobilizers are generating 5001 Mag Immob (and a 1,000% more resistance to Immob when Unstoppable).

They could conceivably be interrupting that power, which would definitely be a bug.
  10. I'm tiring of some one guy writing reviews on glorified fan sites like they're experts, and people taking them seriously.

    It's just some guy.

We can all make a wishlist and post in a blog.

It's one thing to play the role of a journalist and report what's going on. Sure, some one guy can do that fairly well and fairly objectively (though never completely). I'll pay attention to that.

But it's another thing when there is a review, or a wishlist and it's all one guy's opinion. Get an editorial board made up of people who have been successful in the industry or who've done real research into what makes MMOs successful, *then* I'll pay attention.

Until then, anyone posting a suggestion in the suggestions forum has an equally valid point of view.
  11. 1. Enough Recharge to make them Perma.

    2. -ToHit Debuff. They are your debuffing personal Tanker. Every attack they have (except for the Hold) makes use of it and it all stacks. Your DS will tend to live longer than you because whatever gets near it misses it. So, look at the IO Sets that are ToHit Debuff or Accurate ToHit Debuff.

    3. Since the DS cycles through their various powers, you really don't want to waste time trying to buff other effects, e.g., their Heal, which comes randomly and you might not be in range of it. It's not reliable, so, don't buff it. If you do want to go that route, however, go with the HO that enhances Mez effects so that the immobilize and the hold are both boosted.

  13. Take the number of times they used the phrase "time lens" and multiply that by gobbledygook and you get a very clear explanation of what they're doing.
  14. This chat was mostly information free because Rob is such a newb and doesn't have much info to give, he himself is still learning.

This chat informed us that if we need to ask something from Rob how to phrase it, like, "Good day, ol' chap. What's all this about Power Pools not being customizable, eh what?"

Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?

    Yeah, did not thinketh so.

The meta-story needs game-wide events to stay coherent, not optional outcomes.
    Well that's not true.

Statesman can be kidnapped (when he was in that old arc) and still be on the boat giving a TF.

We also mostly had to assume the world we experienced at lower levels happened chronologically before the world we experienced at higher levels.

At level 20, it's "Lost?? What are these folks?" At later levels, we learn the secret.
  18. The Devs *really* want people to learn Latin.

You get more now than you did before. There are still 3 free issues. There still are free power sets (power sets never came out at the rapid pace they are now). You get the other perks your mentioned, such as 400 Points a month which will buy you at least 3 more power sets a year at no extra cost. You get the Reward Tokens and VIP Customer Service and stackable server transfer once a month and access to the Beta Server.

You get more now than you did before. Period.

The Studio is also churning out more new stuff than they ever did before and so if you want *everything*, then you pay more. Or, pay exactly the same before and enjoy getting more than what you did before.

This is from build 2000.201104060405.1, before Radial was changed to have a different duration and recharge.

Ranged_Levelminus is a modifier table normally used for Masterminds. It's set up to summon a pet one level lower than you if you are level 24 or above. At 50, it summons 49s.
There can be only one possible explanation, then: The Devs NERFED THE PAST!!!

Of course, as mentioned, it didn't help that inventions didn't come out until later, but I'm not sure how firm Inventions as we now know them were planned out at the start of CoV Beta.

The only big issues on the dev side was Jack's "No more changes to powers" (technically true; ED only affected the Enhancement system, not a single power - but a vague distinction from the player POV to most) - that with it coming on the heals of GDN & AoE hold nerf - and examples of how to slot as a consequence of the GDN & AoE Hold nerf that went against what they had planned.
Didn't come out until 'later'? There was a *huge* time gap between ED and IOs: 19 months! I don't remember Jack saying, "Hey, it's only 19 months away that we'll put in a system that will give back a good chunk of the 50% of your main enhancements we're taking away!" (And even that would have been a step up for Mr. Foot-in-mouth.)

As necessary as ED was, it was horribly, horribly, horribly, horribly implemented.

If the Devs knew IOs and their bonuses were coming, they could have made that more clear. And if they knew the implementation was not imminent, they could have ameliorated the pain by implementing a less severe form of ED with promise of full implementation once IOs were introduced.

I'm not saying there weren't a lot of overreacting Nerdrage and Ragequitting at the time; but, there can hardly be any defense of *how* ED was implemented.

First, WRT hero side being 'hot' -- They lie. Sure, it *could* be hot. But they could also be lying. Because they are engaged in an illegal and immoral venture, don't presume anything they say is the truth. Why would truth telling be their one and only virtue?

Second, run a virus scan on your computer. These sites love to engage in a side business of selling email lists. And so, they'll get your email and all the email contacts stored on your computer not only if you're dumb enough to use their services and give it to them, but if they can infect your computer and simply take it... so much the better.

Third, I'm sure this doesn't apply to you, but I'm mentioning this for all the dear readers out there: Giving an illegal enterprise your credit card number or your game password (so they can level your toon up or transfer INF to you) is a sign that you need to be checked for neurological damage of your brain. They will eventually use your credit card or your game account for their own purposes. There is no honor among thieves.
