Its a balance really, and it will vary from build to build,
it's not only about what your toon can handle, for instance your toon may be able to handle +2/with bosses/8 man, but it also about how quickly you can do said difficulty,
if it takes forever to complete the mish, its actually defeating the purpose, I would start with +1/wo bosses/ 4 man, and play around with the difficulty so you can the right balance of difficulty and speed -
I thought the episode was interesting,
Her introduction was a bit odd by the League, its pretty obvious they knew who she is w/o telling, I had thought the odd intro was due to her maybe being one of GA's many children ( I'm pretty sure he hold's the record for Hero with ******* children, look's at Conner, Arrowette, Shado's daughter, and who knows who else), but that wouldn't explain why not use Arrowette. Red Arrow seems to know she's not GA's niece( and he would know), but unsure if he knows who she is.
Ok we know she is not Arrowette (supposidly she will make a guest appearence in the series).
I don't believe she is Mia.
There is an Artemis with a similiar MO, who is the daughter of Sportsmaster and Tigress ( sad that I actually know this), who may be a likely suspect, but she is straight villianess.
or they could throw a curve ball, and she is sort of an alternate Lian with GA as a father instead.
I thought, Red Arrow was a bit off, while he can be a BA in terms of abilities( demonstrated by his rescue of that doctor, and he did work for the gov for a while), before he lost his arm, he was kind of a laid back version of GA, not the guy with a chip on his sholder. -
I admit MM's aren't the AT I'm most experienced with, but I have noticed this as well,
my thoughts regarding this are:
-Purple Patch, on teams generally your fighting higher level mobs, your LT is -1 your level, and your minions are -2, so if your fighting +3's, your minions are fighting +5's.
-the larger spawns also mean something else, your more likely to have mobs who throw out AE's and a greater number of them than solo
-As someone mentioned you don't have the battlefield control you do when solo -
Quote:Good point, it could have a number of Preatorian links,If the unlock isn't dependent on a Praetorian character, and they don't start in Praetoria, and their story has next to nothing to do with Praetoria, how exactly are the Praetorian EAts?
-Tyrant being the one who wants to gain control of the Four Temples
-The said Temples being on Preatorian earth
and then of course change the name of them;-), Out of game, the Preatorian tag is more a reference to these folk being in the grey, not Red( villian) or Blue(hero) -
New Zone Idea
You know the one thing that has always bothered me, is that neither PC or RI has an airport, which I find strange.
Here are my thoughts, two new level 50 zones, PC International Airport, and the RI International Airport. In the case of PCIA, you could have it being rebuilt( Im assuming PC pre-rikti would have had one, and that it was maybe destroyed during the Rikti War), on the site of Boomtown.
The content would be designed with 50s and incarnated 50s in mind.
This would cover a number of bases,
-You would get a glimpse of what the rest of Primal Earth is like beyond PC and RI.
-Your actions would have a more global feel, if youre a hero, maybe you will save the President, defeat some plan of some faction taking over somewhere, while if youre a villain, you may be in some plot to discredit Longbow, incite war somewhere, or kidnap the Queen of England or something. The missions entrances would be at various terminals or jets. The idea here with your growing power, your getting involved in truly global stuff that takes you to places like Hong Kong, Paris, London, Moscow, etc etc etc.
You could even name the issue that this comes out World Tour -
Praetorian Epic Arch Type suggestion
Ok here are my thoughts, the PEATs are based on the Order of the Four Winds, so are therefore their origin is Magic, and their damage is primarily elemental. To unlock them, you would need to get a VEAT and a HEAT to X level (or maybe one of all four types to X level).
They would start off their career as a rogue or a vigilante, but would be able to go through the same route as everyone else as to changing their alignment; this would reflect their moral greyness at least starting out. And the rogue would start off in RI, and the Vigilante would start off in PC.
In game there would be an Incarnate Trial explaining their emergence. It would go something like this, someone out there( Tyrant, Nemesis, whoever) is out to locate the Four Temples of the Winds. In each of Temple, there is some sort of receptacle containing the essence of that Winds past champions. Whoever is wanting to find the Four Temples, wants to take those essences for their own purposes. In the course of the trial, the groups are successful in either keeping hidden, protecting, or destroying two of the temples, however in two of the temples, the end result is that essences of the champions of two of the temples are released into the world, which bond with various people throughout the world. Also through this, you would discover a link between the Legacy Chain and the Order of the Four Winds.
Now one PEAT would be Cold aligned, which would be Champions of the North Wind, while the other would be fire aligned, and would be Champions of whatever Wind Scirocco draws on.
Now in terms of actual design, they would be sort of like VEATs in construction (specifically Soldiers). Each PEAT would start with a base primary and a base secondary, that is fire or cold themed. The Primary would resemble the assault sets, while the Secondary would resemble the buff/debuff/heal sets.
At 24, You would have a special mission arc to complete. The end result of that arc, you would chose which totem you would follow, unlocking your totem Primary and totem Secondary. For example, Champions of the North Wind may have the choice of either the Winter Wolf totem, or the Ice Bear Totem, while the Fire Champions may chose something like the Phoenix Totem, and something else. The relationship between the totem powers and the base powers would be much like that with the Soldiers.
One of the first powers of the Totem Secondary would be able to assume the Totem Form, This form, would be kind of like a cross between Granite Armor and Keldian Forms. While in this form, you would get some sort of resistance/ defense/ regen buff, would maybe give you a travel power, and maybe some VEAT level status protection. Also it would effect the base values of your power types, maybe one form is stronger at Control, while another is stronger with Debuff/Buff/Heals, and so on. The totems would be either theme based, for example one form may be good at trickery and illusion, or bring the PEAT closer to one of the existing archtypes. The totem primary would have elemental attacks based on the totem type, while the secondary would have powers more associated with that Totems role. Note, the Totem form would use attacks in either the base primary or totem primary. Also there would be some totem powers usuable only in totem form, while others could be used in either human or totem form. Likewise, there would be some base primary and secondary powers not usable while in totem form.
The tier 9 equivalent would be a pet/ power like what the soldiers get, maybe the Winter Wolf summons the Wild Hunt, that is three Totem Wolves, while the Ice Bear summons a single Totem Bear, or alternatively a Greater Totem form sort of like some of the melee tier 9s. -
I actually like the last Barracuda,
there is the temp power angle, which is different
And the mother of all ambushes I also actually like
Should it be more than Khan, sure, but honestly speaking, with side switching bit, the merit inbalances doesn't bother me anymore.
Question though,
if you happen to have a rogue or a vigilante, and you complete both the WST for both villians and heroes, are you able to benifit twice in the same week?? -
I'd have to agree with some of what the others said, it really depends on the toon, look at my fort for example, cardiac Alpha's are hands down the best ones for my fort, and really don't care about the secondary bonuses too much. After getting the rare with the level shift, I really don't have motivation to go for a very rare on this toon. On some of my other 50's it might be a different story.

I ran the LRSF this weekend on my Fort, the first time in a long time. The PUG I was on wouldn't be considered optimal other than maybe having a couple rads. We didn't have a stoner or a mind freak to sleep the AV's. We finished it within 40-45 minutes with no serious issues My only issue was my computer wanting to slow load the missions for some reason, but otherwise fine. We had 1-2 people who were familier with the SF, a few more like me, who have ran it before but not recently, and the rest who it was their first time.
Afterwords we decided to do Lady Gray with only a few personal changes, and basically steamrolled through that with no problem. -
In a way Supe's here is SB's father, even if it is as a clone father, and both know it.
Supe's part, he suddonly finds out he has a son( sort of), and really doesn't know how to deal with it, which is actually very human of him.
SB's part, he just see's that his father rejecting him, combined with the fact he is litterly a test tube baby, who really hasn't had a chance to learn how to cope with his emotions or learn socialization skills, his behavior is much more understandable if you assume he has the emotional development of a two year hold. Now what would be interesting is if they brought in either Super Girl or Power Girl in. -
Simple question, have these had much impact on PvP builds? Specifically the level adjustment Alpha's

Quote:Mexico City also stands as a good candidate for the exact same reasons.I stand by my claim that Praetoria is located on the former site of New Orleans/Lake Pontchartrain, based on a number of lore factors.
1: The city is built on top of a river/lake that's big enough and shallow enough to build said city on.
2: The plants growing both in the city and outside the city look tropical, not temperate.
3: Praetoria stands at the location of Cole's first defeat of Hamidon, which happened as the monster was moving north through Mexico from South America.
Of course, given the earth-reshaping powers of both Hamidon and nuclear weapons, it's possible that Praetoria is anywhere along the coastal southern US. -
while the real RI is the smallest state, maybe some perspective here, RI is Providence + Providence Metro area to a huge extent. In terms of metro area's its not in the same league as maybe NYC, LA, Atlanta, or Chicago in size, its about the same as any other medium sized metro area. Also some of the metro area does stretch into MA( ie Attleboro). So I can see, how the in game PC could fit in the state, more so if you assume Plymouth Colony was combined with RI instead of Mass Bay Colony.
The one thing I have always thought would be great is if we had an Issue called World Tour, where two maybe three new zones are introduced( PC International Airport, RI International Airport, and maybe a Preatorian Imperial Airport), where your sent on missions across the Globe( with a lot of new mission maps), and get a get an idea how the rest of Primal Earth( and maybe Preatorian Earth) are different from our own. For example, on Primal Earth, maybe there was no Restoration, and Britian is still a republic, or the US had taken Canada during the War of 1812. -
Quote:If memory serves, MA was originally two separate colonies, one centered around Mass Bay, and the other around Plymouth( which is that SE portion of the state), on Primal Earth its possible Plymouth was joined with RI instead of Mass Bay.Wow, Rhode Island's coastline points almost due south ... In order for it to have the shoreline necessary for Paragon City, it would need to steal and occupy that eastward-protruding part of Massachusetts.
Is there anything in the lore about the Rhode Island/Massachusetts War?
Another possible explanation is that the ancient war between Orenbega (sp) and the Mu may have altered the coastline a bit.
As to why they chose RI, my guess its a reference to Happy Harbor, RI the fictional town where the original Justice League HQ was, and yes it is sad I actually know this. -
Quote:he he, glad to see I'm not the only RI resident who plays this game.Having lived in Providence for 10 years and Rhode Island currently, I'll take Paragon any day.
Not that Providence is all that bad, but the mutants, Ghost ships, giant monsters, alien invasions and zombie outbreaks would be a small price to pay for no snow, potholes or traffic. -
as noted above, I would compare Dom's to blappers with control, rather than Controllers with Damage.
Defense
Controllers get two defensive sets as their primary and secondary, granted those secondaries provide different levels of damage mitigation. But generally if control fails, they have have their secondary to fall back on.
Dom's only have their control for damage mitigation, but they also have the trick of domination. One of the reason's why becoming a perma-dom is so attractive, is the idea of holding multiple bosses in the same mob on a consistant basis, since domination increases the strength of your mez's, likewise, with domination up, dom's can outmez controllers with anything w/o purple triangles.
Offense
As mentioned before, controllers get a defensive primary and defensive secondary. At this point in time, their damage is limited to leveraging containment with the few attacks they have, and the use of powers. 1-32 there is no way a controller will outdamage a dom. Where controllers can get ahead in damage usually involves the use of fulcram shift and containment leveraging damage on one power or another
For offense, dom's get an entire secondary full of a mix of melee and ranged attacks, with decent damage modofiers. -
Just go into a little more detail here,
Brutes base damage is lower on one hand, but Fury changes that, which puts your damage at +scrapper levels, and is constant as long as you can keep your fury bar up. Additionally they can take more punishment
Scrappers have very good damage right out of the box
Or to use an analogy, Brutes are like freight trains, it takes a while to get going, but once they get going they hit hard
Scrappers are like one of those sport cars that can hit 100 in a few sec -
Quote:my guess the updated duds.I wonder if they will use the more common outfit, the updated outfit (open jacket and pants), or something else that is close to the Wonder Woman design since the common outfit seems kind of outdated and it might not fit the whole Wonder Woman image since Amazons seem to be the ultimate feminists.
How about Lina Carter's daughter for the role? -

I was at Barnes and Nobles earlier today, glanced at the magizine section, which basically reviewed the events of 2010, and talked about what was coming up in 2011. CoX was mentioned rather favorably, although with one major downer. The writer of the article didn't seem to realize Cryptic has nothing to do with CoX anymore.

Quote:agreed, it really should've been one or the other, either cut elusivity or cut damage in pvp, as it stands now, defense doesn't really matter to forts in pvp, and nor they have the tools really to get enough damage in, the only way I could see their position being improved, is ifThat and the fact that with so many people with high global accuracy through PvP IOs or SS/ melee everywhere, you will get hit enough to faceplant you. You do not have much resists like some other squishies who can take their resists shiels or tough + game given resists.
The cut in elusivity and the cut in dmg Forts received makes them meh, to put it mildly.
Edit note: besides, for the amount of inf you spend on making a Fort better and better, you will get a lot more bang for the inf by just choosing another toon. That's IMO.
-their damage was restored to previous levels
-or to allow criticals from hide with their ranged attacks in pvp -
still the question is, why doesn't he have like 20+children, he's lived long enough, slept with more than enough( whats on the chart is only the tip of the iceburg in terms women he's been involved in)

I was tempted by some of the other alpha enhancements( specifically the one with Def), tried this one this morning, and wow what an improvement. Formerly I had to be careful of my end, but now....
BTW, doing trapdoor on my Fort( and my 50 dom) seemed so much easier than my Huntsman/Bane for some reason. -
they did try Ice Melee/ Frozen armor back in CoV beta, they withdrew it apparantly do to issues with the Brutes inherent. I didn't play one in beta, but I do remember Brute Ice Melee having Ice Sword Circle that Ice Assault has, not sure what power it replaced.
Although given how well Gravity Control works for doms before Wormhole and Sing, I would have no problem with those sets for brutes. -
-Bank of Alignment and Morality missions increased
-Allow your bank storage to store enhancements and recipes
-Assuming we see the rest of the Alpha Slot enhancements in 19.5, the premier of the next Incarnate slot with associated content
-More Purple Sets for those set types currently w/o a Purple Set
-Illusion ported to Dominators
-a version of Ninjitsu for scrappers
-pre-Striga Isle content cleaned up to match post Striga Isle content( that is no more randomingly sending you all over PC w/o a good reason, fewer hunt mish, and move those missions not part of a story arc to radio missions)
-A revision of yet another TF
-make one of the currently unused hazard zones, a shared zone with content, similar to how the Preatorian zones are set up.
