    i20 Questions

    No...no they suck...they really do...

The people who play them don't, but we are a dedicated and stubborn few.
  2. I could get behind DBZ Beamspam Photon Seekers. It'd take animation work though, but the art and animation guys have always done good work; and if they ever give us our color tintable alternate animation using customization that would be a perfect time to work on something like this.

PB Rage very much yes. Losing so much of the buildup switching forms is a pain in the backside, I'd accept longer cooldown for longer duration and lessened effect. Group Energy flight becoming some sorta click buff is fine by me too, it'd help shore up one of the gaps I find in the "jack of all trades" monicker we get told we are. We've got two controls (Pulsar/Incadescent strike), Melee, Range, all we really lack is group support, and something like you suggest for a power nobody took even when it was in a pool would help that a great deal.

Since we're on the subject of "changes we'd make to fix PB's" ive got a couple suggestions of my own...

    1) Pulsar becomes mag 3 all the time, and either it becomes a hold, or Incandescent strike becomes a stun. I don't care which makes the switch, but both abilities should have synergy with each other. Pulsar would hit the minions and lieutenants, and Incandescent strike could then be used to CC a boss.

    2) Radiant Strike and Solar Flare are knockdown now, not knockback. These two abilites are as much a hindrance to us as to the group. Our melee attacks make it hard for us to melee, that's just counter intuitive and should have been fixed ages ago.

    3) Quantum Flight's end cost reduced. Just a no brainer here.

    4) Shields changed to Defense at a lesser rate, and cosmic balance gets a solo effect. Id suggest 30 res, 30 dmg, and mag 3 protection. Every teammate added reduces those numbers by 10/10/1, and that teammate adds their normal bonus instead. So a defender added makes the numbers 20/40/2. Add a blaster and it becomes 20/30/1, and add an EAT and it becomes 10/20/0 with 10% recharge resist.

    5) Dwarf form gets a taunt aura a la Invinc/RttC. Defense or Regen for enemies around them.

Anyways, those are my suggestions to add to the pile. A lot of them can even be ported over to Warshades.
  3. I have fun with my peacebringer when I play him but it's in spite of playing the kheld that I'm having fun. I'm having fun because I'm playing with my friends, not because of my AT, and that's my main problem. I want my AT to be fun, because I enjoy the way the powers look, I enjoy the concept of the shapeshifting "jack of all trades", I enjoy the "Epic" story that went into them...now I want my AT to at least be a little more worthy of that.

I want the wonky decisions fixed, like why Pulsar is a mag 2 stun with just a chance at a mag 3. Heck, why isn't it a hold to have better synergy with Incandescent strike; or Incandescent strike a stun to have better synergy with it? We don't have any other stuns in the set except one attack in dwarf, which is another CHANCE at a minor stun.

Why don't I have some solo effect from Cosmic Balance? Didn't they recently change Defender's inherent for just that reason?

The old explanation for why human form cant have mez prot was because Dwarf form wouldn't be worth it. I'm not too awful sure its worth it now except as something to shift into when those holds hit. Dwarf damage sucks, and its not so defensive it's gonna be taking any tanker/brute/scrapper jobs anytime soon...It could use some sorta aura effect for taunt, and to maybe make it a little more worth it if Human form can get mez prot. Some debuff resistance wouldn't be uncalled for either.

We've got more powers to slot than anyone, are locked out of specific power pools and ancilliary pools which give most of the other ATs greater breadth in just what they can do. We aren't gonna get any extra slots, and I don't know that we need the extra pools, but its still a confusing decision. Would be nice if they baked some love into our powers to compensate for having to spread ourselves so thin.

My best attacks are melee in nature, but also do horrific knockback. That's so counter intuitive its ridiculous. Other AT's had such knockback turned into knockdown for that specific reason, why cant we get ours changed in the same way?

I still cant make custom Kheldian characters for Architect missions. I cant tint my powers, or change the animations despite those animations all being ones that have gotten alternatives in the sets they were cloned/pulled from...And I still want my kheld sash costume part dag nabbit!

Then there's Group Energy Flight in the secondary...what were they thinking? Really?

I just want my Peacebringer to finally get some attention. These problems aren't new, they've been here since they were added literally 17 updates ago. We've gotten little tweaks here and there, and fixes when they've broken us after forgetting we exist for a patch or two. Its time they finally sat down and DID something about us. I think we've waited long enough.

You're right, as another MMO I'm sure you're all familiar with said "bring the player not the class", and I like to think I know and play my class well enough that people will want to bring me along.

That doesn't mean there isn't anything wrong with the Peacebringer AT though. Just because you can still scoop up soup with it doesn't mean you should eat with a rusty spoon.

As for Warshades, I don't have one personally; but they seem to get by alright thanks to their gimmick. The more enemies they've got around to drain the more powerful and durable they are. Its simple, but effective, and something only they have. It helps them keep pace with the other AT's at least.

Sentinel Omega, level 50 Peacebringer on Virtue. I was playing him earlier with some friends in the new trials. He is my main and I've been playing him since Issue 3.

I've IO'd him out, not purples, but a lot of influence has been pumped into him.

He has all the incarnate slots unlocked, and has rares at least in all of them. Ive made three of the interface rares, and three of the destiny rares. He has his very rare alpha. I play him primarily in teams, mostly with friends. Couple nights a week after the "new patch" rush dies down, but at the moment I've played him every day since the patch hit ran several trials a day. Ive got my Master of the BAF badge, and have completed the Lambda more times than I care to count, so its not just "loss frustration" talking here either.

I love my Peacebringer, I wouldn't continue to play him if I didn't. I take that back, actually I don't think I'd still be playing CoH if I didn't enjoy my PB; but while I enjoy him from a thematic standpoint, I simply cant say I enjoy him from a power standpoint. There are so many design choices that work against one another, strange decisions on how the AT works that SHOULD be fixed, places where the AT has been repeatedly ignored and shouldn't have been, systems that we simply are not a part of. An afterthought of an afterthought that only gets looked at to patch what they broke in the process of forgetting we existed for that patch cycle.

I'd love to make some kheldian custom enemies in the Architect...guess what, I can't.

I'd love to be able to tint the color of my powers or have alternate animations...Guess what, I can't.

How bout that kheldian sash we've wanted since...well since they came out? Nope, can't get that either. Hell can't even get anything remotely like it when it'd be a pretty awesome basic costume piece for EVERYBODY.

If that's "hating on khelds" then sign me up for the next Kheld Haters Club brunch. I just want my AT to get some honest attention, I see things that really need a looking at, that really need fixing. That didn't get that fixing the last time they were supposed to look at us back in I13.

I don't fit your model boys. I love my kheld, but I'm not happy with how my kheld's been treated.

In that case what does a scrappers/stalkers bring to a team? Damage khelds have that.
Only scrappers/stalkers bring more of it, and with better survivability.

    Quote:
Tanks/Brutes? Aggro Control yup khelds have that.
Only with better damage and again survivability...and with epic pools/incarnate abilities they get ranged damage too.

    Quote:
Blasters/Corruptors? More damage? Guess what khelds have that.
In the case of blasters its with a better toolset.
In the case of corruptors its with better buffs/debuffs.

    Quote:
Controllers/Dominators? Mob Contorl yup khelds can do that as well.
PB's have a (singular) mag 4 hold, and an unreliable stun that only hits lieutenants some of the time. Id hardly call that significant

    Quote:
Defenders? Buffs and heals well.....khelds cant really do that but looking at it that way what doesnt a kheld bring to a team??
The better question to ask is "Why does what a PB bring to the team pale in comparison to every other AT?". The logical answer is that they bring a little bit of everything to the team, the "jack of all trades" route. The problem is they don't even do the jack of all trades job all that well compared to the other AT's either. With epic pools and IO's a blaster can become sturdy. A tanker can get ranged. With Incarnate stuff it just gets ridiculous.

Now you're just gonna say I'm a "kheld hater", but my PB is my main. I love him to death and I have absolutely no intention of changing my main; but I'm also not gonna delude myself into thinking that the Peacebringer AT is "okay" where it's at right now just because I enjoy him. It needs some serious attention from the devs, it is NOT in a good place right now, and hasn't been for a long while. The general consensus of the player base is they suck. It's not just anecdotal either, people have run numbers for Peacebringers and Warshades, you can compare those with the numbers people have run for other ATs easily. I'm sure the devs can run their own numbers and it won't deviate too far from what the players have already ran.

Warshades are a beast of a different color...they have a gimmick that they leverage VERY well, and in truth I believe that is a major hindrance in getting any changes made to the Peacebringers. Their gimmick is what makes them, yet they're still similar enough to PB's that the argument can be made that any change you make to one you have to make to the other. The problem is if you make PBs better, and WS's better the WS's still have their gimmick which will just snowball the other changes. Don't even think about adjusting that gimmick either cause the WS's would revolt if they did.

Peacebringers just plain need some dev attention and love.

    Just their own team.
  8. It is steady...

    20 threads = A Common
    60 Threads = An Uncommon
    8 Empyreans = A Rare
    30 Empyreans = A Very Rare

    1 Astral = 4 threads

Completing a trial for the first time of the day = 1 empyrean

4 days nets you a rare, 15 a very rare. 5 astrals is a common, 15 astrals is an uncommon. You can get Astrals as many times as you can complete the objectives. Threads drop randomly. There's even a couple other ways to get uncommon and rare components, but the ones I listed seem to be the steadiest, and most likely route of acquisition for people.

The reward for successful completion is just that, a reward to help break up the steady but slow acquisition for the others.
  9. Peacebringers bring warm bodies to the team. That's about it really. Nova's alright, a blaster/corrupter would be better. Dwarf doesn't do enough damage or have the defensive edge an actual tank/brute/scrapper would provide.

Warshades bring a little more than PBs to the team. The fact that they can leverage their gimmick (Moar bodies is moar power!) makes them a little more on par with the other AT's.

Peacebringers need some attention and love. They're by no means a waste of a group spot, but outside of being another warm body they just don't provide much to the team. Their damage is subpar, their defense lacking, they don't bring any support, or valuable debuffs, they cant sub in all that well for a ranged nuker, or a tankier AT. Id say Warshades too but improving them any you'd likely have to fiddle with all their aoe drains...and I imagine if you touched those they'd flip right out on the idea.

The whole "jack of all trades" they were supposed to be doesn't really pan out since EVERY AT is a jack of most trades now, and does their base job better to boot. Kheldians just plain need some attention.
  10. Got my Clarion Rare tonight after a lucky BAF gave me what I needed. Grabbed the perma-version and its lovely level shift. The Mezprot makes me happy in my squidpants. The level shift helped a ton as well. I also like Ion Judgement, even at the common level.

Now I've just gotta decide what to focus on next.

How will you plan to manage the power trays? With my Tri-form, Temp powers, Accolade powers and now Incarnate powers... I'm running 6-7 power trays. I'm rather interested in how everyone plans to manage the additional power... Or maybe I should start paying attention to binds a lil more.....
    Ive got too many trays...

Tray 1 is my human form attacks, heals, hasten, conserve power, and buildup...also Judgement.

Tray 5 (just above it, im not organized, so sue me) is my Dwarf form tray. Dwarf attacks, quantum flight, dwarf toggle, another copy of Judgement, and Call to justice (hero alignment, its there cause its right above the normal tray and easy to get at with a mouse).

Tray 7 (Just above the prior one...again, not organized) has all my toggles, light form, nova, photon seekers, and my self-rez. Things that either shouldn't turn off, or that I dont wanna fat-finger or misclick.

To the side in an extra tray opened up is Tray 6, its got my non-form travel powers in it, as well as secondary mutation, mystic fortune, etc. This one is specifically for things I should have the time to have to hunt down to find. All the things that im not gonna be using in the middle of a fight.

I dont even have my nova tray on the bar. Ive got binds to switch my primary bar when I switch forms, they're a lifesaver...and yes, Nova bar has yet another copy of judgement on it.

Ive recently opened up another extra tray, its full of copies of my Clarion incarnate power. This is my Panic Tray. I think its fairly obvious why I call it that.

Shows how much I know. For the longest time I pretty much ignored anything but SO's. Id toyed with the idea of going whole hog into an IO build before, but never could get up the motivation to actually settle in and work towards it. Just all seemed like a great big hassle...then I got an armageddon drop, and then I got a second one...and then I had a large pile of influence, and it didnt seem quite so great a hassle anymore.

I never really messed with the AH or merits before recently though, but im learning all kinds of new things every day through situations like this.

  14. I play a Peacebringer, and Clarion makes me happy in my pants.

Someone mentioned that he saw that the very rare on one of them was permable...2 minutes up, 2 minute cooldown. Im hoping its Clarion, if it is then im gonna need new pants.
  15. Ill post my current build, but first a few notes about it.

    1) I dont have that PVP IO...its pretty much the crowning achievement for the build though.

    2) Im lacking most of the kinetic combat, they got 'spensive on Virtue (So 'spensive I had to sell my X to get what little of it ive got)

Other than those two notes, ive got all the rest.

  16. So after all that lovely juicy sneaky peeky info that was posted in screenshot format from the EU getting a look see at the other incarnate trial that's coming with I20, I got to thinking about what id take from the various choices for each slot.

I gotta admit I'm torn on a couple...which lead me to come here and ask you all what YOU would take.

For Destiny I can already tell you that I imagine the vast majority of us are gonna grab Clarion (STATUS PROT! OMG STATUS PROT!). Im kinda tempted a little by Barrier (+def/+res) and Ageless (+end/+Recharge) though.

Interface im kinda leaning to the tohit debuff proc. The less Im hit the happier I am. Though -res could be nice too. The -def, and -recharge ones don't really appeal to me.

Lore, dont know, probably go with either clockwork or warworks, my characters more of a tinker type anyways.

No clue what to go with Judgement. Ionic is likely to be electricity, but its also a chain AoE, the hold would be nice though. Void would give me another nova, Pyronic would give me a better luminous detonation for human form, doubt id bother with the cryonic cone though.

So how about you all, what will YOU go with?
  17. Dark purple, and various shades of green. You dont see enough purple in villainy, and green looks real good for an eyeglow effect.

Thats the main villain, ive got a couple others. Tried going for a copper/brass color with one, and I must admit I went with grey and maroon on another, depending on how much of a stickler you want to be that may qualify me as having used black and red...

But yeah, when I make a villain I go out of my way to avoid black and red. Its just too easy.
  18. I would not say no to my shields becoming defense.

I would not say no to build up becoming more Ragey.

I would not say no to changes to Lightform (I really dislike how it locks us out of shapechanging).

Id not say no to alot of things as long as it meant we were looked at, acknowledged, and kept in the loop. I just want the class I play (Cause I really do enjoy it) to get some honest attention.

    Pretty much.

I know its not a technical limitation, after all I can use Call to Justice and several other temp powers while Im in my forms. I can understand why they want to limit some...things that have you bust out an item look wonky with nova and dwarf. Ive got a picture somewhere around here from waaaaaay back in like Issue 3 or 4 where I've got a nova hanging out in peregrine, and clenched in his alien squid insect mandibles is the old frankengun from some temp power I got for something. I don't remember exactly what, but it was hilarious enough that I took a screenshot.

So it just takes a little work, weed out powers that have you pulling rabbits out of your pants and let the clickies flow!

    2) Give Nova Form its own 100% Build-up, shared cooldown with Human form 80% Build-up/Sunless Mire so you can't stack both (blasters get 100% build-up)
Why not just let us finally use click duration powers in forms? WS's already can double mire this just lowers their form dancing a bit...and gives PB's the ability to build up from nova rather than losing a hefty chunk of its duration in the shift.

I honestly dont know why we cant. Technical limitation? Someone with a bug up their behind over letting us use things like hasten in forms?

    Quote:
    3) Give each Human Form shields 1 piece of mez protection, sleep, hold, stun (in line with VEATs and Sonic/FF defenders/corruptors)
I believe Castle at one point stated if human forms ever got mez protection why would anyone take dwarf? Personally, I dont agree with that, but that was the reasoning given once that I remember...

    Quote:
    4) Upfront 40% of the 140% potential damage bonus from Cosmic Balance/Dark Sustenance inherent (ala Domination/Invincibility-Unyielding episode), letting Human Form Kheldians base dmg go from 0.8 modifier to VEATs 1.0 (dmg buff solo)
Personally, I think they should do something for us like they did with defenders. Solo we get a little bit of a bonus towards things, that lowers/shifts as we add more team mates. Course, I thought it should be something with a little damage, a little resistance, and a little mez protection...but thats just me.

Also, just imagine all the shenanigans you could get up to if all the click powers could be used in forms. Hasten, Conserve energy, build up, the boatload of click heals...
  23. Well...now that we have numbers and "proof" of the discrepancies, how do they go about fixing them? Will they go about fixing them? I mean they've pretty much maintained the status quo for the past 7 years...they can also run/find these numbers way better than we can and haven't done anything so far.

Smiling Joe, did you ever get hold of Black Scorpion? Any kind of response?
  24. I imagine the trials will be kept to the smaller numbers to be honest...and that they'll just add the ability to queue up for hamidon raids and other "big threat" type content additions to it.

Long as they keep it so everything is capable of being done with a completely random group of players it shouldn't be so bad.
  25. My main Incarnate is my Peacebringer. Went with Spiritual for the recharge, cause I like recharge. I eventually want to fill out the musculature, and cardiac tree's and switch around what im using depending on what I feel I need at any particular time, but for now im working on the recharge ones as it seems to be a good "base" to build off of.

He'll be the one I focus on most. I have a mastermind that ive unlocked the slot for, but even as my second most played character I still dont play him much. Im not an "alt" person, which makes me strange for this game. I have alts, I just tend to focus on one character better.
