Quote:That's really quite romantic, Steele.I think you're missing the obvious: you're enjoying quality time with someone you care about. There's an emotional investement in this character BECAUSE you're duoing with your gf. Even the most gimp build in the game couldn't spoil one's fun then.
Thanks for a sweet idea to end my day, -
Quote:What is your basis for suggesting a server that is "close geographically"?Before you remake your Hero on a different server, I would suggest picking a server that is close to you geographically. This article on Paragon Wiki tells you where each server is located. I'd then recommend going to the forums for the server you have chosen and introducing yourself, that way you can find some people to play with.
I play servers on both coasts eually with no issues. Additionally, I would suggest making characters on servers on both server farms - there have been occasions where one or the other of them (East Coast or West Coast) has gone down. Having characters on the other farm meant I could just switch and keep playing. -

Quote:Well, excuse me. I obviously misread the post, so perhaps it wasn't as clearly stated as you thought. On an unrelated note, someone needs to destroy or remove experience from AE.
As clearly stated in the first post. I am level 10.
At level 10, you should be going to Steel Canyon or Skyway City then. -
If you are only level 4, you may need to gain another level before being able to access the Hollows (security level 5) or before the detective will give you missions in Kings Row. (Perez Park has a security level of 7, BTW).
You should have an initial contact in the basement of City Hall to give you some missions in Atlas Park. A couple of those and you should be good to go - and that will start your contact chain to take you to other zones. That's not the only way to start the contact chain, but those beginning contacts are one way to get there. -
Quote:To paraphrase - the US & the UK - two countries separated by a common language. (with thanks to GB Shaw, IIRC)No problem. Raw text is just an atrocious manner for conveying verbal shading. Why I figured it was better to ask than go postal at you for a possibly innocent comment.
I think the Harry Potter and Doctor Who fans in the US probably got what "mental" meant, but got lost in the rest of Londoner's post. Always good to check understanding! -
Quote:It's the Vault - available under the Workshop tab automatically (not crafter). What's Personal Salvage Safe? Crafted item?
PS: In my SG has only one player and that's me. So, no-one else has access to my base.
It's personal to each character, just like the one in the Vault Reserves (in fact it's just a different portal to the same vault). -
Everyone is assuming you mean US server - is that correct?
I guess now that we have merged the US & EU forums, we now need to get that clarification before recommending servers, right?
Anyway - for the US servers, here's the rundown -
Last Server logged on
Least Server Load
Increasing Server Load
Highest Server Load.
Server load is roughly approximate to population, but not exactly the same.
Note that none of the servers are "dead" no matter what people playing on Freedom & Virtue try to tell you. Some servers are livelier than others at certain times of the day (I believe Justice, for example, has a large Aussie/Pacific Oceanic population).
Personally, I like the community on Infinity & Liberty, but I also have lots of characters on Triumph & Guardian.
My advice is to bounce around from server to server at the times you are likely to be playing and see what feels right. -
OP - learn to use your shift key, the ".", Capitalization, and line breaks. This last post is nigh unreadable.
I *think* you are referring to the "Kick" power from the "Fighting" power pool - which if so, is meant to be a low damage power as it is a tier one in the pool. A higher damage kick that would send a foe flying would need to be trained and is therefore part of the "Martial Arts" powerset for Scrappers and Stalkers.
In RL, most people cannot kick someone hard enough and with enough skill to send them flying. -

I'm pretty sure this is what has been perceived as the "nerf" for Corruptors. Any one of the normalization of activation times that resulted in any increase whatsoever was decried as a "nerf". Of course, some of them may have affected Defenders as well, but I wasn't paying close attention to the numbers because to me the change just really wasn't that significant.

Quote:"Desks" are any item in the submenu of the editor labelled "Desks" - the actual desks, counters with sink, counters with drawers, etc. Before I13, items in that submenu were the only items you could place anything else upon.Didn't want to go off-topic in the Base Pics thread, and I didn't see anything among the stickies (might be blind, tho), so....
...when you say "desks", what item are you referring to? One of the Counters? Because I can only imagine all the items actually labeled "desk" would leave you with a forest of table legs sticking down into the lower room.
Yeah, I'm a bit confused on this topic.
I generally use either the grey counters or the wooden counters for floors/ceilings to avoid the legs hanging down scenario, but I have also seen a floor/ceiling done with the floor safe and it was an interesting effect in the lower room, the ceiling was kinda nubbly. -
Quote:Oh, please - not this again!Just something I feel compelled to point out. That second M in MMO? It stands for Multiplayer. As in, with other people. If you hate playing with others so much, why are you playing an MMO? Why not play a singleplayer game where you can go be antisocial all by yourself and no one will mind?
I interact with lots of people in the game - thru globals, broadcast, etc. I do not need to actually team with them or compete against them in PvP to interact and be a "multiplayer".
I play this particular game for the other aspects - that it is a *GAME* with a world setup and game mechanics that I like - in their current state, for the most part. Like Sam, I don't want people messing with how I interact with the game world because I like way it is right now.
And there is no single-player game out there that has this world and this combination of powersets and character creation and customization that I want to play.
I'm really sick & tired of people trotting out the old "but it's a multiplayer game, so you need to play it actively with other players (PvP or teaming or whatever)". In a solo-friendly game like City of Heroes, that's not really the best or only way to play. -

Quote:Actually, OP, there *IS* a need to go into detail. M_B's "cut'n'paste" encapsulates the numerous other times the idea has been brought up and discussed to death in this forum. It is meant as a time saver, not a putdown. If you can't answer the points raised in it, then we aren't having a full discussion of the idea of adding vehicles into this game (not WoW, not any other game that may include mounts or vehicles).thiers no need to try and go into all this detail and try to make urself seem "holier-then-thou" and make people that post their idea feel stupid or like a clueless a**.
S&I is for the purposes you have been told by Forbin & others. We do more than just proclaim "Wouldn't it be cool if..." - we try to make a realistic evaluation of whether it could work or could be modified from existing game engine tech, knowing what we do of the current design philosophy of the Devs.
However - if all you wanted was a simple "yea" or "nay", then here goes:

Quote:Instead of an 'alt-build', I'd rather see a way to perform a temp pri/sec respec for a mission (no rewards, no debt) just so you can see if that's a build you think you'd enjoy playing.
I love Blasters, but am I really going to like a Sonic/Dev? Tankers are fun, but what about a Dark/Ice? I'm liking my Ice/Storm Controller, but would I like an Ice/Cold better? etc.
I wouldn't mind seeing something like this on the Test Server. It would be nice to have some place to "test drive" a particular set at the higher levels to see if it's fun to play. Obvously with the fast levelling thru the lower levels, it would be less useful to check out them.
Unfortunately, with PvP concerns on the Test Server, I doubt making true Test characters could happen. Personally, I wouldn't see a problem with allowing any PvPer to set up a character on Test at whatever level works best for them, but I'm thinking others might see that as unfair. -
Quote:Yep, lots of folks will do this for you. I've made a few lowbie characters on my less-populated servers for just this purpose. You can no longer invite trial accounts, however many people on this forum, myself included, are more than happy to log on to any server to perform invite duties. Just let me know when and where
If SunGryphon can't help for some reason, head on over to the Base Construction forum and ask there.
Also - shameless plug - I have found the global channel "BaseBuildersInc." to be very helpful in getting quick answers while base building. Please feel free to come join us, Clouded. -

I have to echo what many have been saying about the color scheme and font type & size.
I have just read thru 21 pages of this thread and I now have a headache. My eyes have literally been made more tired by reading this.
I can speculate that it's more the color contrast than anything else, since Facebook (for example) uses a similar size Arial font and I haven't noticed a similar problem.
I also really miss the different appearance of URL links and read/Unread threads. Now I have to look more closely than before.
Some of the current signature images are truly annoying. Someone else mentioned that they hate to try to read a couple of lines of text that have been overwhelmed by the sig image - I have to agree wholeheartedly. I kinda lose the information in the text part of the post and then have to go back to actually read it again to see what has been added to the discussion at hand rather than repeated each and every time that poster enters any discussion. The first few times I see sig images (like PK's multiple choice reply) it's kinda cute and/or interesting - but after the novelty wears off, it just overshadows the new "Information" being posted.
All of Genia's accessibility must be accommodated - and that would most likely answer most of my qualms with the new boards. The Marketing folks who have put the brand on the boards need to become more aware of accessibility in general.
Now I need to go take some "boo boo profen" and sign off the boards before my headache gets worse.
Oh, and I also don't like how difficult it is to trace replies to a specific poster.
Edit to add - I just noticed that my avatar has gone missing again. I set everything up using my husband's laptop earlier today, including the instruction to use the same avvy as before and now it's gone. I guess I have to set it up each time I change computers? That doesn't seem correct (based on my somewhat limited tech knowledge) - so what gives? -
Quote:QFT that it would not be in character for a hero to put out a hit/assassination order for another hero.This. Plus it's simply not in character for COH. It's arguably more in character for COV, but still a bad idea.
And also QFT that it would be incredibly annoying. -
Well, as a players of many various blasters, I think you have already hit on the main thing I consider about attack chain order - Is there a controllerish power I want to start off with (like Ice Patch or a good KB)?
The other thing that changed with the newer Defiance 2.0 is that I *always* take my Tier One Primary Blast, as it is quick-firing and will build Defiance for a long fight - especially good for longer AV fights when sprinkled among the higher damage blasts. -
OK - I can play this game. I *LOVE* Blasters.
Let me see if I can remember them all. This list is currently active Blasters, because I really can't recall those I have deleted over the past nearly 5 years.
Eng/Elec/Elec, level 50 (I guess she is my main, to the extent I have a "main")
Fire/Ice, level 37
AR/Dev, level 31
Fire/EM, level 25
Eng/Eng, level 22
Arch/Ice, level 22
Fire/Fire, level 21 (probably to be deleted soon)
Elec/MM, level 16
Ice/Ice, level 14
Elec/Elec, level 13
Psi/EM, level 12
Fire/MM, level 8
I also have a Fire/Thermal Corrupter who solos alot like a Blaster, and several Offenders who like to blast.... -
Quote:These new forums are slower, harder to read (smaller text), and have a learning curve. If they weren't so annoyingly slow I think I could get used to them, but the slow loads are just killer.
For me, they are loading OK, but the smaller font is kinda nasty.
And the learning curve is buggin me as well. I hate having to learn how to use all the bells & whistles all over again.
