Adding second floors to rooms?
You will need to pull the last row of desks away from the wall to be able to move the rooms around. Once they are repositioned you can put the desks back.
I have experienced BOTH . . .it seems like sometimes it would let me add the rooms with the desks there, and other times it wouldn't.
Often though, before deleting a ton of desks, make sure that there aren't any wall items on that section, or floor items on that section that AREN'T floated! Sometimes it will work, othertimes it won't as I said. It is a real annoyance when it won't. Same with freaking stairs. . . pathing rules shouldn't check for those when they are often used to conect rooms *sigh*
Hell, pathing rules shouldn't check for any of it being there any more since they were removed for the placement of them should they!?
...I use the safes and floor tiles to help create the second floors, and then of course i use desks as the second floor...

Didn't want to go off-topic in the Base Pics thread, and I didn't see anything among the stickies (might be blind, tho), so....
...when you say "desks", what item are you referring to? One of the Counters? Because I can only imagine all the items actually labeled "desk" would leave you with a forest of table legs sticking down into the lower room.
Yeah, I'm a bit confused on this topic.
Whatever is forming your floor that is against the wall. Nothing can be touching the wall where the door will be.

I generally use either the grey counters or the wooden counters for floors/ceilings to avoid the legs hanging down scenario, but I have also seen a floor/ceiling done with the floor safe and it was an interesting effect in the lower room, the ceiling was kinda nubbly.

People typically use counters for a uniform appearance, but calling them desks is a hold over from the "magic desk" days.
Thanks, everyone, that makes things a bit more clear.
Ok, thanks everyone!
Ok, in most of the rooms in my SG base, there are second floors. I think it is a better use of space because there is moor room to put things. I use the safes and floor tiles to help create the second floors, and then of course i use desks as the second floor.
But my question was, When i upgrade the base plot and add more rooms, will I be able to add rooms coming off of the rooms with second floors? Or will it say there is something blocking the doorway? Because the second floors go right to each wall. Just wanted to know if you could place rooms off others that have items right next to the wall.
