well said. and where are the committees and red names for all the other broken stuff and interest groups here? -

I can say that open beta for Exteel has not yet begun nor have the invites been sent out for it yet. We're going to post something for the public (on the website) as soon as we have some specifics to provide.
Exteel is currently under an NDA (which has nothing to do with the OB delay, btw) so please remember that is all I can say to those who were not Exteel closed beta testers.

gimme a break Ex Libris. Thats the biggest line of horsegarbage I have seen in awhile.
In 30 seconds I can show you dozens of other threads , especially after now using another server forum recently - we are no worse than their threadjacking - and never as hostile. Laughing is ebil!!!!
And it seemed to me as everyone WAS having fun.
selective modding ftw!
how about 'we wub peeveepee' does that help?

Official Cimmie teaming for CoV, CoH (that I organize at least) is on spring vacation for a few months as Wolf-Pack focuses on our First Responder initiative. Take it off the calendar, will notify you when its back.

GJ Ajax.
Very well-written, though... gotta love an arguement based in fact for once.
[/ QUOTE ]
too bad most of it is conjecture, especially relative to CoH. Great rebutals in this thread though by High-Beam and Neuronia -
[ QUOTE ]
PVP pays the bills. PVE does not.
[/ QUOTE ]
didn't get the wub you need in Castles thread so reposted it all here?
While your statement may be accurate for all MMOs (giving you the benefit of the doubt) - and possibly good advice for any new MMO in development - its not remotely accurate for the current income generation of CoH/V.
And there is no massive infusion of resources coming to recode 9 releases of software that had PvP to a game not designed for it balance wise, for a MMO that has clearly peaked.
It would be great to see PvP attract enough NEW sources of revenue to bump up the sub rate, but it hasn't happened yet, and NCSoft/Cryptic aren't going to piss off the majority player base (most of whom don't even read these forums) starving content in issue 11 and 12 to overhaul PvP and *hope* it brings enough new subs. So its bandaids, promises, and then MUO.
ps before you try to label me, not a PvP hater, a number of my alts dabble in PvP. -

Gauntlet is a good inherent. Taunt auras are a valuable tool. Onlya few tanker secondaries have a ranged attack (before the APPs) to get the attention of a distant enemy.
Yes, everyoen should work as a team and stick together, but sometimes a teammate is too far away to have the enemy attackign him be drawn to the tanker by his taunt aura or gauntlet.
That's there taunt comes into play. It allows a tanker to get enemy attention from a distance. Is it perfect? No. Can it be a crutch? Yes. But it does have its uses.
All I'm saying is that gauntlet, taunt auras, and the taunt power, have their places. You can handle many situations w/ only a few of the tools, but there's that off chance where you need all of them.
[/ QUOTE ]
well said. I frankly can't understand why anyone who wants to be a tanker, as opposed to a scranker, skips this. And doubly so if your a stoner b/c of the limited mobility. I can't even begin to count the # of times ranged taunt has saved people and fixed messes. -

Not a bad guide at all. There are a few things I'd disagree with, namely group invis which is great for stealthing missions if you don't have recall friend. It supresses if the tank attacks, by the way, so as soon as he/she attacks, there are no aggro problems.
[/ QUOTE ]
QFT, I'd take Group Invis over SI anyday & when creating a guide like this, people like to see numbers. Just a though.

No way, I would have gone with Drops II: Attack of the Drops.

Let's stay on topic, Positron. You don't want LH to lock the board again, do you?

threadjacks are legal - suggestions aren't!! -
I am gonna ask for the 3rd time, and will stop at 300 - NC Soft needs to release documentation to the players on this - I am sure much of it already exists - this is way too complicated to make us reverse engineer again in dribs and drabs.....DO IT!

thanks for the update Posi - it would be REALLY helpful and appreciated if NCSoft would step up GM response time to items a team can't fix - in the last two weeks my SG has needed GM assistance 4x and in each time waited over 45 mins, 2x on TFs (including yours)
they need to step up while we have issues a player can't address..... -
updated
Super Group Name:
CoH: Wolf-Pack, and Wolf-Pack Elite
CoV - Wolves of the Apocalypse
Website: We currently run a Yahoo group that we actively post on, upload files, guides, links. Members can post and read posts via email.
Global Chat: @Wolfen
Leaders:
SG - myself (no active Asst Leader at this time)
VG - myself and Co-Leader @deathtrip
Recruitment Officer: @wolfen. I usually screen all candidates, but SG mates can invite prior to my doing so, should they wish to invite a trusted friend.
@deathtrip also now recruits for the VG, which we are actively expanding.
Contact: prefer a PM here, or a tell in game
Characteristics of Wolf-Pack:
- One of the servers older SGs still around. I have played for 33 months. (not that time means much really.) We still stay ranked in the top 100, but altoholism on other servers has caused us to not climb any higher. 0oo
- the SG is mostly skilled casual players with 1-2 years experience, but few/no number geeks, just a strong grasp of game mechanics. (I am finally getting some to use HeroPlanners, sigh) Some of us have played together since early on, some are new to the Pack.
We do take the occasional new player under our wings as well.
Most Wolfers are also altoholics. The problem with casual players who have real lives and alts is we fill the SG up with 20 people and their alts and may only get 4-5 online a time, given some play CoV and CoH.
Thus, I just made a 2nd SG for non active 50s and alts (Wolf-Pack Elite) to open up room for more players and a few of their alts. Hopefully we can go back to one SG one day when its account based and not alt based.
- Wolfers tend to play more CoH than CoV but that tends to change back and forth with releases etc.
- we dislike passive Powerleveling and encourage people learn their powersets. Its ok to sidekick and stuff, but even in an i8 world if you play the entire time sidekicked 20-30 levels higher, you missing half the game, and its progression.
I don't care if you have 12 50s - if its your first whack at a new archetype/powerset, it pays to learn the powerset progession.
- we focus on team play. Leroy - charge! is not a tactic.
Outsiders playing with a mostly Wolfer team almost always comment on our effectiveness. It does tend to be chaotic at times, and usually full of banter.
- Wolfers use basic team work to win and avoid death/debt. A good team of 4 Wolfers will easily get through a +3 mish where 8 die...quality, not quantity.
- the SG is about 35% female...they make strong team players so I actively recruit both genders.
- we don't take minors...its an adult SG ranging in age from low 20s to mid 40s. If you see some of the banter, you'll understand why
- we ask you play in SG mode as much as you can and will provide influence when you are in your 30s to assist with the SG mode impact. Obviously its critical you have cash for SOs.
- I global all SG mates, as well as use a chat channel, Wolfers Chat, so that we can chat across COH, COV, and other servers. Most Wolfers now have alts on Victory, and some dabble on Freedom and Virtue as well. The global chat channel now stays active and is encourage to be in a team chat window, as Wolfers will hop servers and CoV/H to assist, team.
- have a full base with all available zone teleports, a rez chamber and an Autodoc. Both have plot upgrades and large power and control crafted upgrades, as well as enh, inspiration and salvage storage. We use a mechanism to create both public and private storage. Bases have upgraded empowerment stations to make temp powers with, and will be fully i9 crafting capable as soon as its release. Both bases were just made raid capable and we plan to dabble in that soon as well.
- we are predominantly PvE. Members will assist in RV raids and things, but all builds are focused primarily on PvE and will PvP just for some light fun.
- Wolfers thrive on sarcasm, cutting up, and occasional crudeness. (usually the women...) :P
We also help each other and will switch alts, drop a mish, exemp, or do what it takes to help a Wolfer in need. When you see an SG mate online, you know a quality player is there to assist.
So if this is appealing to you, and you have an alt or alts that want a home, do send me a tell or PM.
cheers
Wolfie/William -

I hate to bump my own post. However, I was really looking for some input from the community. Is the guide any good? Is it total crud? What do you do in your base? ect etc...

awesome guide, tyvm! -
its highly likely its going to be offered on Vista as well - plus there is no reason why they couldn't easily add support for a peripheral.
Xbox 360 and Vista are new platforms - just b/c cross platform interop didn't do well in the past, doesn't mean its manifest destiny that will forever be true. -

Good reference, but I thought ... aren't HOs bugged/coded in such a way that tohit/def buff enhancers and tohit/def debuff enhancers are interchangeable? So that, for instance, you can put a Cytoskeleton into Radiation Infection on the basis of it taking endurance reducers and then the "buff" effect actually enhances the debuffs of the powers? Or did that get fixed? Or did I get that whole thing wrong?
[/ QUOTE ]
glad you brought that up, I need to rememeber that as I'd be happy to slot with that in mind now and respec em out later...
great guide btw -
The Cimmies:
Concept: Alt SG(s) for people who main on Protector, and are altoholics. We regularly team - thus you are playing with Protector people, not PuGs, simply on another server.
Cimmies allow you to play with great people, and have access to storage for enh, insp, rez chamber, telepads etc etc.
Its a Peer SG - no one owns it, everyone is equal leader - the only ability not given to all members is base editing, which is reserved primarily for other SG leaders who have some experience. Only requirement for joining is you consider Protector your main server.
Teaming is not required should you just wish base resources.
The primary SG stays near full, so we ask you only keep your main 2-3 alts in the primary SG, and put additional in the 2nd one (Protector Altoholics), which is coalitioned to the main one....(damn SG limits..)
* Supergroup Name:
SG - Cimmaron's Protectors (and now 2nd SG Protector Altoholics)
VG - Cimmaron's Enforcers
* Global Chat Channel
Cimmies Chat
(used mostly for MoTD)
* Leader or Recruiting Officers:
Any/all members can invite and promote.
try @wolfen, @deathtrip, @tiggy, @silkee, @cavern, @gearth,
@badstorm to name a few - we have 30+ players.
* Preferred Method of contact:
PM me to arrange a time and I'll happily meet you, or try and reach any of us in game. New members get a starter influence bonus.
* Guild Description:
Fun loving players, mostly experienced, some new, often a lively group, sometimes a bit raucus. All are welcome. -
? 6 run/fly/jump ?? SOs? you realize I assume all of the travel powers cap out at some point, plus the rule of ED.....
Doc has documented which ones cap out when....iirc SS capped out with 2 SOs
edit - pasted from guide
Super Speed at level 50 is capped at 92.50 MPH with 2 SOs or HOs.
Super Jumping at level 50 is capped at 78 MPH with 3 SOs or HOs.
I am 100% certain the jumpjet improves flight speed - its especially noticable pre-SOs, with 1-2 SOs, or with a fly temp power....since fly is near cap with 3 SOs, and I would assume the jumpjet doesn't allow you to bypass the fly speed cap (but don't know for sure...) so you wouldn't see a very large increase then.... -
I increasingly mourn the departure of CuppaJo lately....the modding isn't even consistent even with PM's - one topic posted across all threads 2 weeks ago discussing recruiting was locked down in 10 minutes, yet the cross server Mayor thread that many people flagged and PM'd survived. Posts about fantasy football survive, yet my post about an email NC Soft sent out on Guild Wars yesterday was locked in 15 minutes...
its one thing to be a new Sheriff...its another to practice that like you are in Mexico
