Quote:Yes that sounds smart as well would have figured it out eventually. (Edit: Timer works ship stays in place even after the owner ports out with the first pulse.)Haven't tried it on live, but when I tried it on Beta it seems like repeats the teleport prompt over and over at regular intervals for a set period of time. If you're in range of the transport when it pulses, you'll get the prompt to be teleported to the mission door. If you're NOT in range, you just need to get close enough to it and then wait for the next pulse, which will bring up the prompt.
I don't know if it disappears when the power's owner zones, but I suspect it will. So people will probably need to follow Ouroboros Portal etiquette with it... place down the transport, wait for everyone who wants to use it to go through, and then once everyone else is in, you go in last.
I still wish it was customizable be cool to have it in SG and camo colors.

Quote:And that is the reason mostly;reading through this thread again, I think the title and focus should shift along the lines of making Defenders worth playing in a game with universally available corrupters.
defensively they're very similar- in practice if not mathematically.
offensively, corrupters completely destroy defenders.
Other than purely thematic or RP reasons, where's the reason to play defenders?
Purely thematic or RP reasons.
It is the actual core of the superhero genre;
Heroes serve, protect and defend.
Villains attack.
It truly is that simple.
So when the game was created City of Heroes was created with that thought process, when City of Villains was introduced it followed along that line.
For those who look at this as a game only and wish to fly to 50, why make a Tank or Scrapper when a Brute can be more effective based on damage alone. It doesn't make it a Tank, or a Scrapper but it can fill the role of either, not as good IMO but it does fill the role.
Same happens with the defender for damage except, Defenders aren't about damage and that is once again a nod to Heroics. Unlike the Corrupters.
This is an ongoing issue and will be. I play defenders I create Heroside / Blueside heroes.
My Tanks tank, my Scrappers scrap, and my Defenders Defend. I have only Masterminds as villains, with the exception of a stalker on live, I have beta'ed the others not my flavor especially since I like playing as a hero.
This is to the point I only recently allowed villain AT's created blueside into my SG and that was due to longtime sg mates friends and family picking that AT's and going heroside. Okay sorry back to thread.
I play defenders and the ones I play I enjoy. I like supporting the teams I join weather in duoing or league play.

I would test this but considering I don't feel the need to spend money on points which I believe I should have gotten up front for a yearly purchase and having to wait there is nothing game breaking about the superpacks that I can't live without. The few I have opened have earned me the costume pieces, No blackwolf, in Beta it took 33 flips, I understand thats rare. I would consider it more worth while if i could get malstroms pistols recipe, that I would would spend points and rewards on.

Or... a station I made called Fish Heads which has comedic/parodical music. Guess where I got that name.
Eat them up yum.
I generally don't do music mostly play with no sound at all do to location but when I do I have my own created COH playlist suitable for anyhero, anywhere, anytime with a little of my own flare added in. Okay gotta run cause There coming to take me away...

Rex like always; don't sweat it, Tax E summed it up pretty good Bud. I personally like to see a Majority of 50's at MSR's but very happy with 35+ below that there could be issues depending on the AT in question.
I view this as a community event and as such I expect the community to do there part in any event that is being hosted. if 3 50's show up and 19 lvl 2's (able to get to fort via travel powers; rocket board, carpet, panther run etc...) show up to a MSR beside it being extremely funny to see the massive team wipes more than likly lessons would be learned so that doesn't happen again.
Can MSR be used to PL? Sure no different then AE farms or the old balance 46 bridges that used to be done. IMO if you have a friend who is low and has never done a MSR by all means bring them so they can experience MSR goodness but remember that for every toon below the recommend lvl (35+) that prevents a toon of the proper lvl (35-50) to join the league.
If it ever truly became an issue I would have to discuss it with my co leader because as a community event I would like to see recommended lvls fill the league first. This past Sunday night we fielded 6 full teams by the 9 pm start with plenty of mixed lvls.
my only other (Stuff)
For any event please try to arrive before the start time if at all possible it makes building the league easier.
Also since I'm hijacking thisI would like to thank you and several others who always bring their 50's and we can count on to assit us in building the league as team leaders.

Anyone 34 and under will only earn 10 v-merits and xp,
35+ will of course earn normal v-merits only if they have unlocked the RWZ content.
If you have Vanguard HVAS bring them to help earn even more rewards.
On average I'm earning between 600 and 800 v-merits, minus the 250 cost of a HVAS so they earn there keep. Just figured I mention it in case there was a concern of how much v-merits we earned and the HVAS use.
Pylon order is as follows counter-clockwise: 12, 11, 14, 13, 15, 17, 16, 6, 5, 7, 4, 8, 3, 2, 9, 18, 10, 1

Quote:Simple answer is No,(I know, I know. If I need to ask I shouldn't do it, but I thought I would ignore that and ask anyway)
Anyway, on Freedom I own the name "Staff Member"
When I made the guy I thought it would be a funny pun. "I'm a member of all the people trying out staff fighting"
I didn't think of it as a staff member of CoH. (as someone pointed out)
Now, I'm a loyal CoH fan, and don't want to get banned or anything. Maybe I'll just reroll, and let someone else have the headach
But if I put in my bio "Not a member of the CoH staff or support" and deffinatly don't plan on pretending to be.
Is there anything in the EULA that says I can't have this name?
Like I said, maybe I'll delete the guy, but it's an interesting question to say the lest.
(PS sorry about the spelling, typing this on my iPad and it won't spell check)
That doesn't mean people won't bug you it just means it's not a EULA issue. that also doesn't mean you won't get genericed. In the forums had a friend names Tech Support and they strongly suggested he change his name. Its a cool name use it.

Quote:Confusion first thought; Please put the dates in for when you plan on hosting to prevent confusion (fixed) you ran: 04/13/12 Friday night (My confusion self evident as Noyjitat hosted 04/14/12 Staurday night)Are we, as a server, ever going to draw a line in the sand regarding the lowest level that we'll allow to participate in the msr?
Last week, we saw a level 1 show up. @noyjitat asked them to bring something else. Still - are we going to leave this up to the raid leader - where different leaders have different opinions on which level it should be?
Is the msr considered a "server event", or just a zone event? Either way, under that rationale, anyone that can get there should be allowed to participate.
I'm planning on leading the msr tomorrow - and I don't have a problem making the hard call - level 35 and up. But, if I do that, I don't want to have 9 level 50s and 4 level 36 through 49s.
Is there still demand for the msr? The last couple of times I stepped up to lead the raid, we had less than 24. Doesn't seem worth while to me.
What do you folks think?
I have always run these as a server event, specifically replacing the Hami event due to the constrictions that had been put in place for Hami Raids.
When they introduced superside kicking which I was aganist because of exactly what you're mentioning here about lvl 1's. I was told then that it wasn't an issue so I dropped it.
Now we are formimng them up on league play with super sidekicking in place. This required a bit of logistics as now the league leader has to set up the teams and try to balance them.
(begin old timer rant)
Back in my day... We didn't have any fancy league formations or supersidekicking. Either you were on a team or made a team and were sidekicked to a 50. You had to be this tall to go on the ride (35+ secure zone) and your teams (min 3 w/7 raiders per team total 21) worked together with the leaders broadcasting in request and people actually following along. And We liked it. (/old timer rant)
As for the question of demand, As long as someone is willing to host the msr people will show up to it 21 is the min you should run with IMO. I know one sg who will kill the pylons with a team of 8, and then break up into two man teams to set the bombs. I heard a rumor that it was once completed by a team of three but I am very skeptical of that. (unless it was War and Peace)
We ran it last night started with almost 4 full teams end with 5 full teams. For us we split the duty for league setup and tactics doing both last night for half the raid was work I'm not used to. It still ran smoothly.
Raiders remember a thank you goes a long way, it's why I thank my SG partner every time we team for a great session.
That said
Thanks Rex for hosting this past Friday
Thanks Noyjitat for hosting this past Saturday.
And as always Thanks Steele for being one of the greatest SG co commander ever

Quote:I couldn't of given a better breakdown than that, easily facing GW and her minions was seriously more epic except fighting Wade in SPACE Had our GW battle been in space it would have been the alphabit letters of amazingA friend and I did WWD7 tonight on our +3 Inv/SS Tank and +3 Rad/Rad Def. I had heard from a friend who did it earlier that the last fight was disappointingly easy and we wanted an epic conclusion to the story, so we ran it up to +2/x6.
Mission 1: Back to Cimerora. It turns out that a +2 Ghost Widow and her horde of x6 is a challenge, in fact moreso than Wade-a-ru (or whatever his name is). Obviously the difficulty was a good choice!
Mission 2: Back to Warburg. Was disappointed that the tanks didn't fire and laughed out loud when Black Scorpion bit it because of the explosions. No, I didn't try to save him.
Mission 3: My jaw dropped and I gasped when I entered this mission and saw the sky ladder of battleships. The final fight was anticlimactic because of the NPCs. I could have played tiddlywinks and it wouldn't have changed anything.
Mission 4: Half an hour to find Scirocco. Gosh, that was fun. Not.
Mission 5: Heroes in spaaaaaaaaaaaaaace! Space at last, thank you devs, we are in space at last! We spent 20 minutes taking screenshots in various poses and from various angles with the moon and earth as backdrop. The fight against Rularuu was fun, because we declined the villains' help. It was epic. I never saw Penny or this hypothetical bubble at all.
Press Conference: Finally I'm the hero, because after mission three I was feeling rather sidekickish. Again. Penny's spot on the FP should be mine! I was heroing when she was learning how to put on makeup.
All the errors.... Seriously, it's time they used a handful of trusted players to play test, proofread, and give feedback. It's such a simple thing and would result in a more polished product.
I'll be repeating this arc just for the last mission, and to play Battleship. I'll speed the rest.
Here is hoping the missions don't get old unlike a certain revamped red zone. -
Quote:agree with this Ilike having them especially on my new starter charactersI don't want to see the drop rate changed, but I would like to see them all stack like St Louis Slammer does. That would alleviate most problems, I think. People would be more willing to craft and use them, thus serving the inf sink the devs seem to want. A secondary recipe category of "Craftable Temps/Costumes" that didn't count toward your total or had a separate total would help a lot too.
I find the temps help an enormous amount below level 30 and some are still extremely helpful even at level 50.

Well this is a milestone,
My third toon ever created and my very first Virtue toon who is 7 years old
Dr Mythos, started out at Security Level 41 and has become a hero of the city this weekend hitting security level 50.
It started off with a a call from the midnighters club and a trip traveling back in time to face Rommy, then a call to action where I took lead of an inpromptude MSR. The League was set up by another hero, While I lead the troops to victory after victory aganist the pylons and finally into the gaping maw of the Mothership, where we brought the fight to the Rikti Master of Arms himself.
( total of 1 MSR and 3 ITF's)
I want to thank all the heroes and villains who assisted with those events, and a extra smile too Angry Ayou know who you are, thank you for the kind words and I was glad you joined the MSR. With that said...
Now a return to Metaforces Mondays where "Doc" will become an Incarnate Archmage...
See you all around Virtue, Wait is that a disturbance in Astoria I sense....
